I've passed by this place so many times and always thought I should stop in at least once, so I finally decided to come in for lunch two days ago. I ordered the spicy miso ramen. The chashu was on the thinner side, and the broth was decent, but overall, the ramen was pretty average for me. The weather wasn't particularly hot that day, but the air conditioning didn't seem to be working very well. Since we were having hot ramen, it would have been more comfortable if the restaurant had been a little cooler. Overall, it was an okay experience. I'm glad I finally stopped by and gave it a try. I've been coming to this location for years and have often dined in around 1:45 PM without any issues. Today, I arrived at approximately 1:47 PM, before the posted 2:00 PM break time. As I was about to place my order at the kiosk, an employee informed me that only takeout orders were being accepted and that dine-in was no longer available. I was told this was due to a policy change from management. What I don't understand is that there was no notice posted anywhere about a dine-in cutoff time. Maybe this is normal for this restaurant, but it is not what most customers would expect. When a restaurant posts a break time of 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, most people assume that orders are accepted until 2:00 PM and that the break time begins at 2:00 PM. That has been my experience at most other restaurants. If dine-in service actually stops at 1:45 PM, then that information should be clearly posted at the entrance, on the kiosk, and online. Otherwise, customers may arrive before the posted break time and still be turned away for dine-in service. In my opinion, if customers need to finish their meals before 2:00 PM, then the restaurant should either post a dine-in cutoff time or list an earlier break time. Other restaurants with a 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM break time typically allow customers to enter and order before 2:00 PM. This appears to be an exception. I made a special trip to eat here and was disappointed by the lack of communication. Going forward, customers should know that a posted break time of 2:00 PM here may effectively mean you need to arrive early enough to finish your meal before 2:00 PM, not simply arrive before 2:00 PM. Been coming to this spot for my curry fix for years. Their portion is big and comes with cabbage salad and fukujinzuke. It's a self-serve, order at the counter-type restaurant. Stopped by this place on the way home and was instantly greeted when I walked in. The space has a really nice "Japan" feel to it with the decor and layout. They also have tsuke men which is my favorite but so hard to find anywhere. Service was great although there's little interaction with people. You order from the kiosk and they call your name when the foods ready. For an order of 6 meals we waited maybe 10 minutes so everything was cooked very quickly. Interior is spacious and clean. There's lots of seating and you just bring your finished trays to the designated areas. All the tables were stocked with utensils and napkins and I love how they have the pick up area set up. We come here fairly regularly (though more often when the weather is cold). The kids love ramen and the atmosphere. They have other stuff like udon, curry, takoyaki too and some cute Japanese snacks/candy/little trinkets if you feel inclined. So far everything we've ordered has been pretty good, no complaints. It's more of a self service: you order, find a table, get your utensils, bowls, cup, water etc and wait until your food is ready and pick it up. Everything is available including to go containers for soup so there isn't a need to ask for assistance. It's never been busy to seating is not an issue. When you're done eating, you put it all on your tray and then take it to the racks around the corner in the back (near the bathroom). It's kind of different and fun. My friends were visiting for the weekend, and they really wanted to get ramen. They found this place and said they'd been before and that it was pretty good, so I had some hopes. This place is a pretty decent-sized shop. It has plenty of seats, and I didn't see it quite fill up while I was there. This place is pretty much self-served. You order at a Kiosk and seat yourself. Once your food is ready, you just go pick it up at the front. Once you finish, you simply clean up and drop off the trays at the racks in the back. If you do have any leftovers, they do provide containers in the front where you can just pick them up yourself, so there isn't really a need to ask anyone for assistance. There is a lot of different food options, and it isn't limited to just ramen. There was udon, lots of appetizers, curry, cutlets, and just a bunch of options. I got the Tonkatsu, and it was delicious. It really hit the spot after a day out. The ramen had a nice chew to it, and I really like the broth as it was pretty flavorful. There was a general amount of toppings added, which was nice as I've seen some places skimp on that. I'd also like to note that the egg was a nice soft-boiled egg, was a jammy center! We also got two appetizers, a pork kushi katsu and a fish cake. I would say I like the fish cake one more than the pork one. The fish cake was as I'd expect it to be, it had a soft and kind of soft bit to it after the initial crunch. The fish cakes weren't too fishy tasting and had that nice chew to ti. The pork one was just not as yummy. I thought it had a weird taste to it. It kind of tasted a bit gamey and had a little metallic aftertaste to it, which I didn't quite like. I am so happy about I found my favorite Japanese ramen restaurant at Korea Town Buena Park. I've already been here numerous times for last 5 months. Interior of the restaurant is outstanding, because it is very clean, spacious, and it has traditional Japanese vibe. Everything in here is self serve which means you have to order your food through the kiosk, and pick it up when it is ready. I always order large size tonkotsu ramen with mini niku-rice bowl(Japanese style beef rice bowl). I am very impressed about this restaurant provides generous amount of toppings on the ramen such as mushrooms, boiled eggs, chasu, green onions, and fish cakes. The restaurant also provides ramen's spicy paste on the side, so you can make your ramen spicy by adjusting the spicy level by your own. You can also get side dishes for free such as yellow radish, and red ginger right next to the pick-up counter. Many Japanese ramen places usually charge those for extra, but this place doesn't. Toppings on the ramen were fresh and delicious, especially chasu pieces were so soft, and smooth. The broth was thick and tasty. Noodles inside of the ramen were thin, so it was easy for me to swallow. Mini niku-rice bowl also had good amount of marinate beef on top of the rice, and it was delicious. Got myself the Ramen R1 which come with noodles, spring onion, three slices of tender roast pork, and boiled egg done just perfectly with a still soft runny yolk. Also got a Nikutama Sauce Udon which had Served sweet flavored beef, ontama egg , fish cake slices and broth, added a small side of beef with rice Niku bowl - just the right portion for a child's meal or if you need more food! A great value : Ten-Zaru Udon that is cold udon, plus side of shrimp tempura, fish cake tempura, vegetable kakiage, nori plus dipping sauce. Added a small side bento tempura , which came with three tempura shrimp, fish cake and squash over rice. Service was reasonably short.
