This place doesn't look like much, but dint let that fool You. I ordered the falafel, my roommate the gyro... both were stellar. Falafel was made to order and was delicious. The gyro meat was flavorful and tender. Sauces were also amazing. Check this place out for sure. You won't regret. read more

5 stars for their fried chicken. I've lived down the block for 4 years and would have never given this place a second look had it not been for my fiance's love for fried chicken. We ordered an 8 piece mixed chicken box last week and it is the best fried chicken that I've had in a long time. The skin was nice and crispy and the meat juicy - it was also very well seasoned. So I had been walking passed here everyday from my apartment and a few times I popped in to see when they'd be serving food and they told me to come back soon because they were just starting up with new management. So I did just that and man am I happy I did. The staff that works here is great and the man in the kitchen is a WIZARD. He makes the food fresh and I'm honestly blown away by how everything tastes. I've been here about half a dozen times since it opened and the food has consistently been great, whether it's the steak and cheese sub, the beef falafel or the chicken and rice plate (which is gluten-free!). If you're coming from the caltrain or in the area, stop in and try the food. read more

I've visited Harvey's a very long time ago. After my visit I would enjoy my purchase in the empty lot next door. (Technically, I shouldn't even bother writing a review about a place I haven't been to in over 20 years. I wonder if this review will get deleted? It is a positive review, but mostly nostalgic, self-indulgent and befuddled.) The past couple of weeks, I've ridden my bike by here a few times and I can't figure out where the empty lot was. I thought it was right next door but I really can't figure it out. I would ask someone but everyone else from back then is confused now too. 12/03/08 update! I realized they built a condo on the empty lot! I'm not crazy after all....this time...... I vaguely remember Harvey. He helped a lot of people. He gave me credit. When I paid him back, I felt very proud. About ten years ago, I read that he died. I tried to find the article at SFGate but after ten minutes I got frustrated. The article was about the messenger scene in the late 80' and early 90's and how many people survived it because of Harvey's help. No, I am not and never have been a bike messenger. Harvey's 2: Electric Boogaloo. I was friends with the old owners and I will always miss seeing them and I wish M and his family well. I actually got picked up by the old owner in a Lyft a few months after he shuttered Harvey's OG and was doing well. That aside, new Harvey's is a different beast altogether and that beast is delicious and will pretty much order whatever you want, which is pretty rad. They just got It's Its in and in a few different flavors, so I am stoked. The hot food is GOOOOOD and the Falafel is absolutely what's up for vegetarians, but if you ask Capt. Cook, he will absolutely work something out. That's basically their whole deal, they want you to be happy with them and they're doing a f**king great job, I'm in love. read more

Harvey's is our local neighborhood store. It has just about everything you need with a great selection of groceries, beer, wine and liquor. The thing that really stands out here is the staff. The owner is such a nice guy and all the staff are super friendly and always willing to help. The best thing about this place is its evolution. They are now offering fantastic middle eastern street food and other fast food items. The latest addition is Krispy Krunchy Chicken which now puts Harvey's place on the map as the go-to fried chicken place in this area. Okay so we can all probably agree that the old Harvey's place was a dump, but this new one is AMAZING! It's clearly under new ownership because it's been completely transformed since it closed and reopened. It's gone from a sketchy liquor store to a bodega like you'd find in New York, minus the cat. While they still have beer, wine and liquor, they also have household supplies like paper towels and pantry essentials. And best of all, they have made to order hot food like falafel and burgers and they are really good. The pictures on here don't do it justice. If you live in the area and realize you forgot to buy tomato paste, or paper towels, check Harvey's! If you're passing through and hungry for a quick bite, check Harvey's! The owners are very thoughtful and accommodating, even going so far as to tell us to let them know if there is a product we'd like them to carry. Also, one time when I was out of quarters for laundry, they let me buy some, which was super nice. They just started serving food and I had a sample of some delicious melted cheese concoction that the chef let me try. Went back again today for their Philly cheesesteak and wings and they are delicious. Great salads too! I can't wait to go back for more. Great place. Nice people. Lots of selection. read more

Read to the end to see why the low rating. This place has a lot of different stuff for sale which is great. Much more than the same convenience store across the street. However, a couple things to watch out for: * The prices aren't marked on most items. (prices have changed from one day to the next when buying the same items.) * Most of the clientele are sketchy. * They will charge your card (debit OR credit) a $1.00 fee, & wont tell you about it! (Not a minimum purchase fee, but they pass the fee they're charged by the credit card company onto you) Had I not asked for a receipt, I wouldn't have known until the charge went through. The younger gentleman was kind enough to refund my purchase. I had the cash & would've used it had I known about this dishonest practice. Will I go back? Maybe. They're convenient. But if I don't have cash on hand, I'll just walk across the street to the other store. They don't charge a fee to use your card, as they follow the law. *** Under a court settlement that went into effect in January 2013, retailers in "many" states are allowed to add a surcharge to credit (but not debit) card payments made by Visa and MasterCard. Currently, merchants can pass along fees in the form of a surcharge equal to what they pay to accept the card, up to 4 percent. HOWEVER: California is one of ten states that BAN card surcharges.
