I am SHOCKED at the 5 star reviews. This restaurant, is so BAD, it is a perfect example, of a decaying city government. IMHO, there is only one reason this "restaurant" is open, it is because the owner or owners are paying off city inspectors. The men's rest room smelled of years and years and more years of urine build up. The stickiness of the floor from years of dribbled urine was mind numbing. The smell was so bad it (and I mean this) literally felt like some kind of acid was burning my nose. I have read a lot of reviews, and again, IMHO, to call this place a dive is probably the best compliment you could give it. It would be a long, and on going project to RAISE this place to a "dive bar" status. The only reason I am giving it a one star, is because the dedication, to just not give a sh!t from both management and owner is stunning. It seriously takes a lot of dedication to be that bad, at what you do for a living. If you are a local regular there, for the betterment of your children, raise your bar. Also, I did not eat there. Update - shortly after I wrote the review the owner Vincent, replied to me and asked to talk and discuss further. We talked and he was aware of what went on that day and apologized for the way it was handled. He did say that they were over capacity and if they allowed any more people in they may be in violation of fire code which obviously has significant consequences on the business. We did agree the manager could have handled it better from a customer service perspective, but he did also say it got a bit overwhelming there trying to manage all the people coming in. I do appreciate the quick response from Vincent and will certainly give it another chance. As I said in the initial review I would give it 5 stars. I might suggest calling first, next time to see how busy they are and gauge it from there. So to start, we really like this place! Great atmosphere, great burgers and good cocktails. And a nice selection of beers! BUT - For the second time now, when we arrived it was very busy, we were met by the manager who was so rude he first told us they were swamped and it would be 45 mins to an hour for food and we should go elsewhere?? We said we're fine and we'll wait for a table and have a drink while we wait for food. A few mins later a table came available we went to the table then he came over and said we have to leave because they were too busy. Again we said we have no problem waiting, we would just have some drinks while we waited. He got angry and said he would tell the wait staff not to serve us! We also witnessed him rudely turn away three groups of four people in the short time we were in there and they left angry because he was so rude about it. I think this guy may have mental health issues, and he is certainly not the face you want to put in front of customers and is terrible for business!! I hope the owner fixes this soon (get rid of that guy!!), because it's the second time it happened to me and if it happens again, I will not go back! I popped into Harvey's for the Sunday night football game and a bite and this place is absolutely amazing every single time. I appreciate the great job they do on their food! I ordered the Deluxe cheeseburger and this thing is not only so delicious, it is a monster! Truly this is a great value. I do have to mention that this is a very small place and little staff, basically a very small bar. So be prepared to have a wait on evenings in which they are busy or if there is any major sports going on or events in the area. Enjoy some drinks and time with your friends while you wait for the dinner, it will be well worth the wait!!!! read more

Recently discovered this place and I love it. Very comfortable, dark, cozy, with fun ceiling lights and great tunes always playing. The bartenders/servers I have experienced so far -- Jazz, Chelsey, Jordan and Nick -- are all EXCELLENT and very welcoming. The food and drinks are great and well priced. I recently went with a few buddies from class. We were refused service and pretty much asked to leave. Both of the bartenders (both female, one younger and middle aged) were extremely rude. I had just arrived, my buddy was ordering a pitcher, so I waited my turn as I was going to get us some wings. I was never greeted neither bartender when it was my turn. When I approached the bartenders they both were really nasty. Stating "Nobody had called them to let them know we were coming and blah, blah, blah". It was me and 2 of my buddies. I'm not sure what their deal was. But I WILL NEVER step foot in this terrible establishment again. If a zero was available, I would give it. I have been a regular customer of Harvey's for 30 years. Have been there many weekday's for lunch, sometimes at 11a and sometimes at 1p because the lunch crowd is so large. Have been there at night, on weekends and usually it is very crowded and you must be patient for service and delivery of food. We have introduced Harvey's to our many guests from out of town and it has become a must "go" when they return to the Valley! Today our party arrived at 11:20a with 8 people. Both sides of Harvey's had many open tables. We were greeted by an older man who I have never seen before. When we said there would be 8 of us the guy said it was not possible to handle a "large party" explaining the grill is only so big and they just can't go large parties. We offered to sit at 2 tables of 4 and didn't have to sit together. He said "No! We cannot handle large parties at lunch." When we continued to suggest we would separate our group and told us "don't tell me how to run my own restaurant." He then insulted me as we left. Keep in mind the place at this point was more than half empty. He insisted the restaurant would be full in 20 minutes....apparently not with these 8 "former" customers. We went down the street to Zin Burger at the Biltmore who happily took our orders and $200. Our collective experience was shocking. Our mutual belief is the man at the door, whoever he is, is literally crazy, rude and should never be a host anywhere, anytime, anyplace. read more

First of all let me say this. I had the best burger I've ever had that I didn't make. They are hand formed, thick burgers. Real burgers. The fries and onion rings were good, but the burgers were spectacular. What you need to know, and we did not, is that this is what I would call a dive bar. I'm not saying this as a negative, but bottom line, this is a bar. You must be 21 or older to get in. It's a small place, low lighting, small TVs on the wall. And this place is popular, so it fills up quickly. And the music playing is loud, so no sitting and having a quiet conversation. Like I said this is a bar, darts, pool tables, TV's. I tell you this so you know what you're walking into. And again this is not a negative, but you should know before you go. We got there around 5:30 and was able to get a high top table for the 3 of us by the pool tables. Our server game quickly, got our drink orders and we got our drinks quickly. We then ordered our burgers. Now here is where things could be better because we waited over 30 minutes before our food came. But when it did come it was fresh and hot, so we knew the food wasn't just sitting around while we waited. Would I go again? Then I saw it on TikTok and thought, okay - I need to try this place, especially since it's walking distance from me. My boyfriend and I decided to go after a going away party, thinking it'd be the perfect stop before heading home. I've never been more wrong. When we walked in, I politely asked the woman working where we could order. She immediately replied "take a seat" - no greeting, no warmth. I then asked if that applied to takeout since I didn't want to take a seat from someone drinking. With the same annoyed tone and expression, she snapped that they don't do that. My bad, I genuinely didn't know. But instead of just answering, I was made to feel dumb for asking. A man sitting nearby even leaned over and said, "You never know until you ask," because he could tell how embarrassed I felt. We took a seat, and from that point on, it was clear we weren't welcome. She seemed irritated that we weren't drinking and made every interaction uncomfortable. I didn't blend in, not in terms of diversity, but in vibe. I wasn't a dive bar regular, and apparently that was enough to be treated differently. My boyfriend's order came out wrong after waiting for what felt like forever, though she admitted she "f'ed up," which I guess was at least honest. And to be fair, the burger was incredible. Smaller than expected, but super flavorful and thick. The fries were crispy, well-seasoned, and perfectly soft inside. The food really was great. But unfortunately, the experience ruined it for me. I get why it's a popular spot, and I understand why they wouldn't want a rush of takeout orders in a small bar setting. That's fair. But there's a way to communicate that without making people feel like an inconvenience. If you're a regular or blend in better, you might love it. But for me? first of all, this place has some really good super greasy bar food. And in fact, it has some of the best greasy ass burgers for bar food in Phoenix although I can't say it's absolutely the best. The reason I am giving this place to stars is: the two times I've been in there I've had to wait so long for my food. I was in there earlier today. I ordered my food and 40 minutes later. I observed at the grill that no food is being cooked. I asked the bartender that I did order food. Is that correct? She replied and got back to me. Yes, but we take a long time. I then asked her how long it's going to be and she replied back another 25 minutes. The service and the time you wait for food at this place is totally unacceptable and I will never go back! It's rude that this place lets customers wait for food when they're hungry and there's nothing on the grill or being cooked. They're taking their long, lazy ass time? First off I want to say I love the food, the owner is always friendly and the music is perfect, with that being said it seems the waitstaff could use some coaching. There is one waitress that every Time we are in there, I can honestly say I have never seen her smile. She came by our table and took our drink orders I asked to place an app order and was told to hold on. She walked off brought our beers 10 minutes later and again I asked to order my appetizers with food order and was told there was a large table and it would take too long to get our food so she just placed the appetizers which oddly enough only took 5 minutes, not so long we couldn't order our burgers. I was suggested Harvey's from a co worker. She raved about their burgers. I came in on a Tuesday afternoon. I was lucky enough to snag a bar seat. There was 2 ladies working and a cook. The girl with the blonde hair immediately welcomed me. Wiped my area down and promptly got my beverage. It didn't take long to realize the blonde bartender was the only one working other than the cook. He was cranking out burgers like a well oiled machine. The other girl working in the tan shirt with dark hair was just walking around singing. I tried getting her attention several times. We made eye contact and she continued to ignore me. I felt bad for the other bartender. She was busing and cleaning. Taking orders. Getting ice. Basically, running the whole place and still more attentive than the brunette. I tip for service and it really irks me that she was getting a dime of my money which she didn't deserve. I docked 2 stars for her laziness and smug attitude. Servers appear to be busy, but expect long wait times for your burgers. We were at the 75 minute mark without food. Only one table got their order after about a 40 minute wait. Here's the three-star section: It looks like the one cook, possibly related and not in fear of getting replaced, processes one order at a time. Your classic divey bar, with flair. Long bar, pool tables, a few seats, jukebox, chef right out front smashing fresh ground meat - yup! This is my vibe at least once a week. First, the burgers are fresh and delicious. The onion rings and fries are cooked to perfection every time. The jukebox is always filled with an array of music that I have such a fun time dancing to. The bartenders clearly run the place, and they've been doing this a while. You get what you get because trust me, they're 100% in charge. Just know your order when they come over because no one has time to waste. I get the classic burger and a few beers each week and have never been disappointed. It's so consistent, I bring different people here each time I come so I can share the experience, and they are always thankful once they devour their food. We were having a good time, until we got the backlash of one of the bartenders dealing with an unwelcome patron. We didn't know the circumstance and felt the tension towards us, it was odd for quite a bit even ordering. We didn't feel like we were being rude and we could be wrong but I really don't think so. We had already been there for 4 hours and we're about to leave but I wanted to bring home food for my boyfriend. The bartender just shut it down we don't do take out and walked away quickly no time to ask a question about it out of curiosity because I've never heard of this at a bar. My friend asked the cook and explained it's just to bring back food since we've been here so long what's the deal with no take out and hechalked it up to basically a gateway drug (my interpretation) into DoorDash and not being able to feed the people in the bar because of Togo orders, they'd be waiting too long and they make their money on alcohol sales more. My friend mentioned it was for my boyfriend I didn't, but regardless the cook goes "sounds like a relationship problem" then proceeds to say "its crazy we live in a society where no can't just be no". We just wanted clarity since we have never experienced that. It's just crossed a line into being disrespectful. Food was good, but we immediately closed out our tab and left. Just really weird reasoning when we were already there 4 hours with drinks and food and they could have gotten a little more money too if I bought the other burger but it is what it is. Just don't like the disrespectful responses and the illogic of the situation. It's a choice to do takeout for DoorDash etc. that's a business decision not take out for someone who's already been in the bar spending money. read more

Burger is fabulous! Service is not. Before I start, I have never once dined at Harvey's expecting a seamless dining experience. If you do, I would try some place else. We waited approx. 1 hour for 2 burgers on a Thursday early afternoon between work meetings. This may be an antiquated thought, but don't you think it would be appropriate to warn patrons of a wait time? Especially in a day and age where the average wait time for food at any restaurant is 20-25 minutes unless otherwise disclosed? I don't know, seems pretty lackadaisical and rude not to warn patrons of a long wait time. By the time our food came, we had to scarf them down because we needed to leave. Side note, the waitresses are disheveled--which is suitable considering how generally offputting they are. TLDR: Don't bother coming here unless you have over an hour to spare. read more
