OMG... found amazing Kimchee!! Rolled into this place and adorable lady took care of us. Felt like a home town diner met a small Korean joint. The people were super nice, the food really tasty. I had the kalbi and shrimp and my wife had the kalbi. The kimchee was the bomb. Will be back for sure. Now I'm not a big fan of Mac salad and this one wasn't too good. But the rest was great!!

The worst mix kalbi and meat Jin plate ever
    Carrie G.

Literally the WORST Korean bbq plate lunch I've ever had. The only redeeming thing about it was the kalbi was tasty. Otherwise it was terrible. We got the mixed kalbi and meat jun plate which was ~$20 before tip. The meat jun was tough and cold like it had been precooked earlier and barely warmed up. The veggies were the worst. I should have known something was off when the ban Chan wasn't on display and I didn't get to choose my sides. What I got served was watery, unseasoned cold canned corn. Bland kim chee (most likely from Costco, definitely not homemade or good quality) and plain Mac salad. As in, no mayo, salt or pepper, just plain noodles with a few shreds of carrots. The kalbi was bbq'd outside fresh upon ordering and the quality of the meat was good and the seasoning was also on point. Service was very nice and friendly which is why I think the reviews are so good bc there's no way the high reviews are based on food. As a local, I get irritated when I get caught in tourist traps like this so I'm sharing this review not to harm this nice small business but they really need to try harder.

Dynamite! Clean! Food full of flavor. BBQ outside on charcoal . Very generous portions. If you pass by this place you're missing out. Fast service and very friendly .

Where to start? Korean BBQ at its best! Service was fast, friendly and food was awesome. Portions are generous and the larger plates can definitely feed two. We tried the Bulgogi, spicy pork, bbq chicken, garlic shrimp & short ribs. Everything was hot, tasty and filling. Rice was perfectly cooked. Forget the shrimp trucks... having been to at least 3 of the best on this island I'd rather go back here. Very well kept place and true Aloha vibe here!

We were headed back to Waikiki from the Polynesian Culture Center and saw the sign for some Korean food. It was also raining so it was perfect to stop to grab some dinner. It is a small place that has a grilling tent out on the parking lot. That is where they grill their meats that give the perfect chargrilled flavor. Their kalbi was good with not too much fat but a lot of meat and the chicken was super moist and Smokey. It came with corn (from the can), macaroni (a bit oily) and kimchee (nice and spicy and fresh). Very tasty little place! The owner was also super interesting. Doesn't seem too friendly but super friendly haha. Meaning, he didn't smile but was very kind and checked in on each table. So don't be afraid to talk to him! He said he was from LA~ Most food items came in to go boxes but if you order soup, that came in a huge bowl (unless you specifically ask for it to go). When you leave, you just leave it on the table and he will clean the table.

Don't miss the location, look for signs

OMG, rolled into this small local BBQ. Ordered from sweet lady, with a wonderful personality. Outside was the chef barbecuing (smelled delicious) ordered immediately and within short time we were served. All were delicious with generous portions. We will be back!!!!!

BBQ Chix I love the hibachi BBQ taste. Not to happy with the Mac salad, but everything else made up for it! Love the fact that it's cooked with charcoal grill! Delish

Meh. I feel like the quality of Mike's has gone downhill…read more I stopped by yesterday during a trip to the North Shore to get some lunch. I got the #9 plate, which is kalua pork, huli chicken, and I got mac salad. The kalua pork meat itself was fine. Not gristly and not too fatty. However, barely any smoke taste to it and was fairly bland. The huli chicken didn't have crispy skin. It seemed lukewarm like it had been cooked a while earlier and was just sitting. The sauce is amazing and I do think it's delicious with the sauce. Rice was just rice. Meh. Even adding shoyu didn't add much flavor to it, to be honest. The mac salad is extremely bland. I don't know if they need to add some acid to the mayonnaise or more salt, but it was pasty and no flavor. I would honestly skip getting the mac salad next time and get regular salad! That's how bad this mac salad was. Two slices of pineapple on the plate were fresh and flavorful. I did enjoy these. Service was okay. I had asked if they still honored kama'aina discount and was told no. That's fine; I understand not all places offer discounts. I don't know when kama'aina discount stopped being offered, but back in the day I used to receive it when asking. I did notice though that two guys who ordered before me got a "mahalo, braddah" in a friendly tone but I got a terse "thanks." Guess haole girls don't get mahalos even if local. It's just uncomfortable when certain people get friendly, effusive mahalos and others get terse thanks, like I didn't want to be serving you food today. Maybe cause it was Mother's Day and they didn't want to be there? Sure didn't feel like 'ohana today. So many flies around, it made eating uncomfortable. A few fly fans on tables but not at the one where I was seated, so it was basically like constantly shooing away flies and trying to take a bite of food super fast before they came back on my food. Probably I should have taken my food away and gone to the beer garden nearby with fewer flies. Meh. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the quality and selection of Vietnamese street food this wonderful eatery was offering. The proprietors of this humble food truck were quintessentially customer service-focused. The menu options are impressively diverse, especially considering the size of the space in which they are stored and prepared. The service was impressively expedient, and the quality and generous size of the offerings were extraordinary. I was sufficiently impressed by Pho Vientiane to offer up five stars for the authentic tastes they offer. They are every bit as addictive as those I experienced when I visited South Vietnam - back in the day.
