Man I was looking forward to this place bc Hawaiian BBQ is a rarity out here in Chicago. I will say, the flavor of the food I got was on point and well seasoned. It hit my cravings but that's it. I ordered the large mixed combo and dang. I feel like the only thing I paid an extra 5 bucks more for was more rice. Like I legit got 2 ice cream scoops of meat. Bunch of rice underneath the meat and then another scoop of rice with Mac salad. Like bruh really? Although the spam musubi was good, it was nothing like the advertised pictures. They legit cut up the nori into this thin single strip and said we'll just use that one strip. Like bruh cmon now. The lunch size was perfect for me, but I think I would opt for the less cards option and get veggies instead of as much rice. I'm excited to try their more spicy chicken next time as well as their dole whip. I wasn't the biggest fan of the macaroni salad (I had been expecting mac and cheese from the pictures). The food was somewhere between mediocre and good. Some things were bad, some things were great. But the rating system on Yelp is so screwed up and people will only consider going to places 4 stars and up. To use a grading analogy, on Yelp, 5 stars is an A, 4 stars is a B, and 3 stars is an F. I didn't want to dock Hawaiian Bros in the manner so I'm giving them a 4 stars to avoid the 3 star death penalty. I ordered the luau pig dish on uber eats, so granted the food got to me ~20 minutes after it was ready to be served. Let's break down the components: The meat: great texture, tender and just slightly fatty. The flavor was a bit too salty, and I had to drench the meat in the sweet sauce to overcome the saltiness. The macaroni: pasta was cooked good, but the sauce was a little too creamy. The flavor wasn't great either, a little tart lacking besides that. I think they can learn from L&L, whose macaroni is clearly a tier above. The rice: The rice is great. Love the texture and the coconut flavor. Combines with the meat quite nicely. This is by far the best part of the meal. I also think vegetables should've been included in the meal. I know there's the option to buy it on the side, but the raw materials for a simple salad (lettuce, carrots, maybe cherry tomato) are so cheap and help so much to offset the heavy nature of this meal. I think L&L includes a small portion of vegetables with every meal. All in all, I don't know if I would order here again. If I do, it'll be because I'm really craving fast Hawaiian food months from now. If so, I would definitely have to try some other meat because the saltiness of the luau pig really killed the meal for me. read more

I used to live in Hawaii so I finally decided to check out a couple of "Hawaiian" BBQ places in the city. It's funny because in Hawaii they're called Korean BBQ, but anyway. I have to comment on the Mac salad. That is the stuff I miss the most & authentic Hawaiian mac salad has lots of mayo - it seems like it might be gross but it also has a lot of flavor & is amazing. This stuff is not the same, but it's not bad compared to the other HI bbq around. The luau pork was pretty good but more of a smoky flavor than any pork at Korean BBQ places (most often near Mililani on Oahu). The huli huli chicken as also really good, but again not the traditional bbq (which was usually meat marinated in teriyaki & grilled). The sticky rice was great & just about the same as in Hawaii though. Another suggestion: I miss using chopsticks to eat plate lunch! & no one has the same veggies as in Hawaii: steamed green beans, clear rice noodles with seaweed, both radish & cabbage kimchee, steamed cabbage, etc. read more

Arrived excited to try their luau pig menu, turns out it's not even listed as an option on their ordering machines. I ask if they still serve it; of course they do. So I get some help to order, and guy inputs two random meats that were different than what I wanted (not honolulu chicken and not luau pig) and tells me he'll make sure to tell them to serve me those meats instead of what he clicked. Trusted him, but that was the mistake. Learned my lesson to check what's actually packaged for me before leaving the place and walking 30+ min to come home and open some random platter. Taste was good, but portion was so little (hoping this was an odd serving); one sector of meat for the large mixed plate was not even filled halfway. If you receive the correct amount for your meat and correct order, I'd say your money is worth it because it did taste good. But if not, don't know if the $15 was worth this experience. read more

I don't usually leave reviews but it was my first time coming here for dinner and it was just a really great experience. Big thanks to Isaac and team for making our first stop there so pleasant! My sister and I ordered from the kiosk and didn't realize the order didn't go through so we had been waiting for a few minutes already. Isaac checked in on us to confirm that we had ordered but there were issues with the system and it wasn't received. He took care of our orders very quickly and we got our food right away. Hi, there I'm confused and mad at the same time. I used your kiosk and order my food from Hawaii bros, waited for close to half an hour to be told by the chef running the grill that he isn't making my food. Not sure what type of service you guys offer but to tell someone you ain't making my food is ridiculous. The young girl on the register gave me a receipt and stated that my money will be refunded. Receipt doesn't state anything that says refund. I will understand if I was a rude customer but I was just standing there waiting Patiently just to be told this.
