My experience with Hawaiian Moving was awesome up until the point when our stuff was to be delivered. My car arrived in excellent condition. My boxes however were all severely damaged, crushed/broken. The drivers unloading our stuff here in Hawaii were not the best, they dropped several boxes in front of us, and when I inquired about possible damages, the driver basically said the 'fine print' states that the company is not liable for any damages IF they didn't pack the boxes. I can say that yes we packed all of our belongings, however the boxes were new and were not in the condition I received them. It also bothered me that the final payment HAD to be in cash, they would not accept a cashiers check and the driver hand wrote a very sloppy and illegible payment receipt along with several grammatical errors. The handwriting was so sloppy that it appeared to show I had missing boxes... Their quotes and rates were better than other quotes received, however I think they should evaluate the movers they have working on the islands. The mover that picked up our belongings was awesome and courteous, much was left to be desired about the men delivering. And yes I am an actual customer, with paperwork and pictures as proof. Well I have nothing to say but good things about Hawaiian Moving. Nicole was my contact over there and she lead me thru the hole move and made me feel comfortable with everything. It was the exact price I was quoted and my car arrived 3 days early, in perfect shape. My shipment arrived and the single most expensive piece of it is missing: an original artwork painting. I paid thousands of dollars to move my household belongings from Hawaii to Arizona and this company "lost" my painting. When I reported the missing painting I was outsourced to a third party company to "file a claim" with no hope of my painting being recovered. I was also told by employee Nicole to drive to Long Beach, California all the way from Arizona to pick up my car at Matson on a day that Matson was closed! I had to pay hundreds of dollars to stay in California an extra day due to her error. She claimed she would do something in efforts to reimburse me for her mistake, but that was weeks ago and nothing ever came of it. She has ignored my emails for weeks. While I'm glad the few of you who posted the wonderful comments about Hawaiian Moving Co based out of CA, I on the other hand had a horrible experience!!!! After contacting the company based on BBB rating, I was transferred to Nicole. Anytime I had questions via phone or email, Nicole answered promptly and even reassured me that the entire process from beginning to end will be ok since I was moving from NJ to HI and that these were professional movers. So a week before my move, I received my finale quote of $4400.00 with 50% payment at pickup, which doesn't sound bad, right? Yeah, the experience leading up to the move was great! However, the nightmare started the day of the move. The moving truck came 3 hrs late with just the driver. Shortly after, a young man walks up to assist with the move! After questioning the driver and kid, I found out the driver didn't work for Hawaiian Movers instead he was from Vegas and was contracted and the young man lived a few towns over from me. Now it's after 3 pm and the "3" of us are moving furniture and boxes out the front door to get the process going. The driver then jumps onto the truck to begin stacking the first row of regular & fragile marked boxes from floor to ceiling. While that row is completed, he turns his back and heads towards the opening of the loading area of the truck where we were standing and suddenly boxes came CRASHING down! Immediately I asked to get on the truck, which is against the policy, and was horrified to see my boxes on the ground. Driver insisted that nothing was broken, but I know that wasn't the case! Now I contact Nicole and she refers me to Carlos the dispatcher who didn't answer my call or RETURN the call either! As the evening went on and all the boxes were loaded into the truck, the two guys then started to load the furniture. During that process, I learned that they didn't have the rolls of shrink wrap for the furniture so instead my couches, furniture along with my white mattresses and boxsprings were ALL wrapped in the DIRTY blankets! I called Carlos AGAIN in which he finally answered and told me that he would have it rewrapped once the truck reached Long Beach, CA before it heads out on a Matson container to Honolulu. Once the job was completed at 9:45 pm, I was told that my quote is $8510.00 with 50% payment to the driver. I called Nicole and she told me that it exceeded the cubic feet that she quoted and the driver, @ 9:45 pm, can unload "some things" till it reached the $4400.00 she originally quoted! At this point, she was NOT accommodating and I had no option but accept the delivery charge. During the moving process, I'd placed a medium size tin can of coins on my lower step in the foyer to be taken to the bank the following day. When I finally came around to taking it, the tin can was GONE from my step!!!!!! I called Nicole and apparently she was not at her desk so I asked the young lady who answered my call to have Nicole return my call A..S.A.P., instead I get an email from her to explain in writing all that took place. Once she received and reviewed my email, she was kind enough to reply with a ridiculous, "Thank you, will you be shipping your car with us"? REALLY????? Nicole never apologized for the chain of events along with the unprofessional two men crew, in which I had to help with the move otherwise it would've lasted well into midnight! Do not use this moving company!!! I have been trying for three years to receive any payment from them for the items that went "missing" during the move and the extreme damage to the remaining items. Interestingly, my flat screen TV and computer were stolen during the move with this company. Also ended up with a broken futon, broken lamps, torn couch, bookcases, etc. Every time I call the company, they state no one is in the office, despite my attempting calls at various hours on various days. Hawaiian Moving by far has proved to me that customers can be fully satisfied. We have requested moving services from Hawaiian Moving many many times, I am talking years. They were extremely helpful in answering all my questions and educating me on the process from start to finish. They were very easy to get a hold of and felt Nicole was looking out for us. Additionally their rates are very competitive, which is how I first discovered them. They price match and even beat the rates of all the other providers I researched. They use Matson for shipping the car at negotiated rates, which in turn means better rates for their customers. Worst moving experience ever! They picked up my household goods on May 5 from Hilo, HI. I received my household goods in Sonoma County, CA on May 17, a whopping 2 1/2 months later! They kept promising delivery 'soon' but could never tell me where my shipment was. When they finally delivered my household goods, they claimed that I owed them another $1250 for two cars I had shipped previously and paid for and received over a month ago. They threatened to put my household goods in storage and charge me for that too unless I paid their extortion fee. No one would help and there was never any manager or supervisor I could talk to. I called and called many different companies and each one had me calling other people and it was just all a mess. The only moving company that handles everything from start to finish is HAWAIIAN MOVING. From the second I spoke to Nicole I knew I was going to be taken care of. I was moving from Honolulu, Hawaii to Los Angeles, California and I was afraid because I had so many things to move. I did not want to deal with broken or misplaced items and that was my main concern. I spoke about this to Nicole (very knowledgable) about my concern and she reassured me that everything would go smoothly. Of course with any big move you do risk the chance of getting something damaged, but usually it shouldn't happen. Anyways, I was moving two bedrooms, a living room, many household goods, and my two cars. They were a Ford Focus and my husband's big Dodge Ram. I let go a few weeks before my move in order to have them waiting for me at the Long Beach port. They were there safe and sound waiting for us to arrive. :) Their rates are also amazing!! I find it interesting how they think that sales service is outstanding and then the dispatch is a bunch of disrespectful, lying, jerks trying to take you or every cent you have and avoid a deal that was made. Stay away from this company, the surface might seem all fine and dandy but when it comes to something that they think they can bypass in the original agreement. They will screw you over and act like you should enjoy it. They will do anything to squeeze more money out of you and put more money into their pocket. Even when you were upfront with them in the first place, dispatch will act like they didnt receive the information and tell you they don't need your business in the first place. I have picked this company from the previous reviews to move from San Jose, CA to Maui, HI. I have emailed and talked to Nicole regarding bad experience I have with them. All I got was sweet talk and promises. As I have mentioned to her, I have to give her a chance to fix this problems. So as not to give her negative reviews and have her company improve. Like they over charge me $120 and has demanded that I pay the balance only in cash to the local people here in Maui. They moved without any planning. A guy who flew from Oahu has no tools to assemble my furnitures except for a knife, he said he sneaked in the airport to unpack my boxes and stuff. He has 2 other guys from Maui helping him. They made 2 trips with their smaller truck to deliver my stuff. Cause damages to my Osim massage chair which cost me $4,000.00 tried to squeezed it upstairs and the bedrooms, in the process damaging my walls and stairs. They could have measured and realize it is not possible to bring it upstairs. We have to just leave it downstairs in the living room. They have also cause multiple scratches on my Ethan Allen furnitures (Dining table, center tables, Bedroom sets) and Breuners entertainment center. I have lost some of my boxes. They did not complete the check list and was in a hurry to deliver, unpack and leave. Prior to moving, Nicole has made me get someone from other company to come over to my house in California to make an estimate and then she gave me $2,000 less than that guy over the phone. Which was very tricky since when they come over they have charge me about the same as the previous company. There truck came even unmarked. Which made me uneasy. Hawaiian Moving Inc is the best. I started looking for companies to move our three bedroom home to Hawaii six month before our move date. Needless to say this gave me plenty of time to do my research. I narrowed it down to three companies to get bids from. One was Hawaiian Movers Inc, one was a name that is very similar and makes it confusing and the third company never called me back to do an on site bid. They wanted me to figure out the weight and cube, what......??. Hawaiian Moving Inc won the job, mostly based on the helpfulness of Nicole and how she explained how it was all going to work to me. On moving day the 40 foot Madson Container pulled up to our house in Laguna Niguel CA. These guys were neat, clean and in uniform, we were all impressed! We had a sea of boxes that we had packed and they proceeded to wrap each piece of furniture as if it was there own. I'm sorry I don't remember all their names but the guy in the container building this jig saw puzzle was amazing! He filled every little nook and cranny with something, creating a huge solid wall. We treated the guys to a Pizza lunch and they were all smart and interesting people. We cried when the trailer pulled away, we were really doing it! Moving to Hawaii! Three weeks later, as promised, the container was pulling into our driveway in Keaau, HI, outside of Hilo. A very talented driver backed this monster up our long curving gravel driveway and parked it perfectly close to the front door. Three kind and proficient men led by Carlos were their to unload. I showed them how ever room was marked with a different color tape and that the boxes would have the same color tape for each room. They soon had a system for unloading. Not a single broken item! As I come to the point of needing to find another moving company for our impending move, I made a point to confirm the company we used for our move to Hawaii and make sure not to sure them again. This company was awful to work with from the beginning. After our things finally got picked up and moved onto the shipping container in California, it sat for 2 extra weeks in the port! Never were we told this would be a possibility, so we ended up in Hawaii for close to a month with only our suitcases. Not only that, but the customer service was horrendous! In trying to figure out why our things weren't not being shipped in the timeline we were quoted, I was hung up on multiple times and yelled at repeatedly. When our things finally arrived, most of the boxes were wet from sitting for all that extra time in the container. Books, dishes and bedding all molded. Two boxes were lost from our shipment. I was told one box was found and then told , No they haven't found either one. We are still owed a refund on our $100 deposit. That was not subtracted from our final fee. After receiving a written quote from you that my price would be $2,100.00 for 175 Cu Ft, on the day of the pick up I am informed that it is going to cost me $2,300.00!!! I am told by Carlos that the reason for this is all the goods will be put on skids and wrapped and because each skid holds 100 cu ft, I would need to pay for two skids. So do I have to pay for space I didn't use? I am informed of this as they are loading the truck. I must vacate the house at that time and I fly out the next morning so what are my options? When I booked your services you told me the reason the fees were less than other companies was because you did all the work in house. Meaning that it was your people who handled our goods from door to door. When I received the boxes, they were delivered by Igor who said he knew nothing of your company nor where my boxes came. Indeed he worked for another shipping company completely. Not only were there two boxes missing but the boxes that did arrive were spread all over the truck laying upside down, sideways, anyway you could think of.
