If I could rate them ZERO stars I would. Me and my s/o went there a little over a week ago, when we pulled up to the speaker to order, it literally took 7-9 minutes JUST to order!! Me and my s/o asked a few times and kept getting told to wait. We were going to drive off but I was really wanting the Hawaiian Time. The girl who goes by Bri got on the speaker and became so snarky to order from, when we pulled up I was asking what was wrong and why we were given a terrible attitude when the world is in such a crap place right now. (BTW I have this all on record!) and she said they had a grub hub order they had to do, I just didn't understand why we couldn't have been notified of this at the intercom so we would know why we were waiting. We then asked for her name and she ignored us. Finally i asked for a manager and he came and gave us his info and his bosses info. We spoke to the boss who goes by Andrew regarding it since my boyfriend is an old employee of his. He said he would talk with the Bri girl and that he would give us a gift card for the inconvenience. We thought that was wonderful after dealing with such a rude employee. Few days forward we call to make sure we are able to pick up the gift card and apparently the owner changed his mind? We called the owner Andrew and he said after talking to his employee that we were rude and disrespectful and cursing them out. Which I went to tell him I have it all on video and he proceeded to say he would not credit a gift card. I asked if I could speak to someone above him and he said "I signed the checks so you're not talking to no one else or my brothers". I couldn't believe his disgusting remark. I am disgusted with the Beaverton Hawaiian Time their employee and the owner. The food tasted terrible too to top it all off. Would never recommend supporting this business with the type of foul people who own them and work there, you guys are disgusting! Please read before you decide to go!! Here's a sound piece of advice; stay the hell away from the ironically-named "Hawaiian Time" restaurant in Beaverton, OR (located on Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy next to Target -- it's where the old Burger King used to be). If you just can't help yourself and decide to go anyway, better get ready for mediocre food, awful customer service by just about every staff member, $12 meals (plus a shameless tip request even if you go drive-thru!), and of-course, as others have pointed out, the incredibly awkward and impossible-to-avoid unwelcome interactions with the owner. Let's start with the food shall we? There is nothing Hawaiian about white rice and overcooked chicken; if you want to call your restaurant Hawaiian Time, at least get this much right. Otherwise, at least stop charging $10 to $12 a plate, and for the love of god, stop asking me for a tip! The food is barely eatable, the service by your staff leaves a lot to be desired, and you do nothing aside from handing me the food I'm paying for, so why in the world should you get a tip?? Then, there's the apparent owner (we all think he's the owner as only this would begin to justify his demeanor); this strange fellow looks like a pissed off vietnam-vet whose staff sergeant forgot to tell him the war ended some 35 years ago. Better known to his employees and surrounding neighborhood as "Captain Awkward", he delights in making weird comments to his customers and can't seem to hide his passive aggressive nature long enough to take their order and separate them from their money. Besides the needlessly penetrating sustained eye-contact, unrelated comments, and rhetorical questions about everything under the sun, some have even mentioned that he likes to start cleaning the floor next to customers' tables (as they're trying to eat), and starts shouting angrily when an order gets sent back (even when it's his fault). I could go on, but why? Isn't the service, food, and unavoidable awkward factor enough to make you want to stay away? Did I mention the shameless tip request? read more

Tonight 11/27/19 at 8:24 PM I phoned in an order of Honolulu Beef for myself. I called once to confirm they were open and before indicating the call was over, the girl who answered the phone just hung up on me (already a bad sign), but I move forward. I decided what I wanted to order, so 10 minutes later I called back and put the order in (the same girl answered) and before I could hang up, I heard the girl shout to someone "oh my God!". She started bitching about taking my order and even talking about my name! To the employee: whoever you are, if you don't like customer service, you need to find another job...quick! To the owner: I've given your restaurant many opportunities, but after the 4th time of encountering attitude problems and crappy customer service from your employees, I'm officially done with Hawaiian time Beaverton. I regret this because your food is good, but there are plenty of good restaurants in the metro area and I don't need to handle someone's bad hair day from a perfect stranger. A great lunch or dinner time fast food option. Maybe authentically Hawaiian, maybe not, I don't know, but it tastes great. I like the Mauna Loa Chicken lunch the best. The pork dishes are also good. They do a lot of drive-thru business, but I usually go inside because I like to spice up my lunch with the sweet chili sauce provided at the condiment bar. Sometimes the wait is unusually long, but the food is always good. Way better than normal fast food, so worth the bit of extra money now and then. read more

Now for the honest review. The restaurant reminded me of Five Guys; same color theme of red but more simplistic menu comprising of burgers, fries and drinks. That's it. Simple is always best. We settled on cheeseburger and a bacon cheeseburger. Ordering at the kiosk was simple. Minimal interaction with workers who were busy churning out the orders. Kiosk also allows you to specifically select what you want on your burger. Easy to navigate and pay. Ambiance is great. I saw one of the young workers come by and wipe down the tables and the place looked clean. When we got home I was surprised on how smallish the size of the burger was. Most brioche buns are smallish to begin with but the amount of fries they give you surpasses the size of the actual burger (see photo). Little in size but big in flavor. The patty was smallish but thick and the flavors make up for its lack in size. Even after a short 5 min drive, the truffle fries stayed fresh and crunchy and never got soggy or cold. Very delicious and enjoyable. Overall I'm very impressed with the food. The manager was communicating with his young crew and they did a great job. Can't wait to try this place again in the future.

But the brand used to be THE fancy place to go while growing up for me, and was sometimes a family dinner stop for my wife's family...so it has fond memories But the ones close by have closed down, and my last visit wasn't good. But this location being so close to a store that we needed to go to, made me want to try it again for a weekend lunch. So I didn't do any searching for online menus and prices; my wife, mother-in-law, and I just went. And it turned out great. It's a large dining space, and it was empty when we came in the early afternoon on a Thursday, with nobody manning the front. It gave me time to examine the sad lobster tank. But soon, the hostess noticed us and guided us to a choice of booth (chosen) or bar seating. Many different pages of menus were given, and our server came over to give us ice water, a basket of cheddar bay biscuits and take our drink order. We munched on the good cheddar bay biscuits while perusing the menu (the biscuits have changed in appearance...whereas before, the tops looked like Guy Fieri's head, now it is more similar to Telly Savalas). All of us focused on the lunch menu, knowing we could share. Weekday Shrimp Trio ($17.99) - not available on the weekend, and with no substitutions, the trio consisting of shrimp scampi, shrimp linguine Alfredo, Popcorn Shrimp with french fries as a side. To my surprise, the best thing by far was the popcorn shrimp. Red Lobster debuted this in 1974, copying the idea of Cajun popcorn (crawfish), and I now believe I've never had it here before. I'm used to popcorn shrimp being tiny salad shrimp, with a thick batter: more deep fried batter than actual shrimp. This was very different: this was chopped up pieces of a much larger shrimp, lightly battered and deep fried. It was really good, and shows off the deep frying capabilities of Red Lobster. The fries were also very good: plentiful, lightly battered and expertly deep fried. Including the shrimp scampi (just OK) and the alfredo (very rich so the small portion was just right) made this dish a bargain and a good choice for someone who loves shrimp. Endless Soup, Salad, Biscuits ($11.99) - chose House Salad with a green salad mix, chopped tomatos. Very ordinary. But the lobster Bisque was enjoyed by my wife, especially with the never-ending supply of biscuits. She only needed one bowl, and gave the salad to her mom (Thousand Island not available so chose Citrus Lime Vinaigrette instead). Walt's Favorite Shrimp ($17.99) - eight pieces of lightly battered, tail-on, butterflied shrimp, with choice of side (mashed potato in this case). The shrimp was really good, and the mashed potatoes being enjoyed by Mom. Payment is taken at the table. It still was pretty empty when we left, but the news is that Red Lobster is doing better. Glad to hear it, with the food quality and value menu leading the way.

The biggest surprise however was the sirloin steak. I love a good filet, and sometimes a New York strip. But sirloin generally isn't my favorite. It's tough to cook it such that the steak is tender enough and flavorful enough. So I was very pleasantly surprised that this was the best sirloin steak I've had in a long, long time. Really tasty, not at all tough, and I got the sense it was actually pretty good quality beef (which I wouldn't have expected). Service was a little slow at times, especially when we were done and wanted to pay the bill and leave. Took what seemed like forever to get the waiter's attention. But I think he was also covering more tables than normal; a difficult spot for a waiter. Given how delicious the meal was I can let it slide. Overall, the meal was significantly better than I expected. Anyone who would casually write-off Red Lobster simply because it's a chain should maybe reconsider. I would absolutely go again and in fact will likely do so this summer. I have attached a picture of my actual platter. Of course, I did enhance the picture in a manner I thought fitting given how great the meal was. LOL!

Elmer's is always solid I might add - so we weren't relinquishing anything. We ordered seasonal breakfast items and a coffee and a couple mimosas. Everything was great! Everything was also super expensive! Now to be fair, my husband always has to order a savory and a sweet item, so we got more food than we needed but it was nearly $100 bucks after tip. Entrees were basically $20 a pop. I really, really do like Elmer's, but it shouldn't be a toss up between Elmer's and Fogo De Chao - the two for two would literally have been within a ten dollar difference. In my head without paying attention I imagined in the $12-14 per plate price point. I regret nothing, but was just taken aback by the pricing, and the difference of how high it is in comparison to a Cafe Murrayhill, Store Street Cafe, or even Babica Hen. All less expensive per plate by quite a bit. Will we go back to Elmer's, I'm sure. But thought it was worth noting!

I had the Farmers omelette with sausage, bacon, onions and gravy. Also, a biscuit with real butter. So good! Joanna had eggs over easy, sausage links and a side of avocado. The avocado was green, fresh and delicious. Also, our server paid attention and got our food just right.
