Cafe Bernardo is a cute casual, easy restaurant. You order at the counter, get your number, and then pick your own seat, and they bring the food to you when it's ready. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, my friend ordered the omelet. We were both very happy with our breakfast! The breakfast sandwich is more filling than I expected and I took half home. It was really good. Their bread in particular was great. They never rushed us, and we had a great time catching up. Street Parking can be tough but there is a lot right behind the restaurant. Fast casual brunch, and lunch spot in Sacramento with healthy options and really good coffee. My fiancé just brought me here, I hadn't been since a previous visit in 2018 but I thought the quality has maintained. I went for a salmon salad that was light and fresh and the whole time I was eating at my body was thanking me. He got his usual small chopped salad with chicken and a quarter loaf of bread with butter and olive balsamic. Everything was good, the bread was a little underwhelming so I probably wouldn't go for that again. It was good with the olive oil balsamic mix, but I really was in the mood for butter and their butter is unsalted and bland AF. Overall, I think this is a a very good lunch spot. The guys went to order drinks at a the bar and we just chilled for approximately 30 minutes and left. We've been to the Café Bernardo in Davis before and loved it, but the R Street location in Sacramento is next level and absolutely perfect for vibes. We came here for brunch and it did not disappoint. The outdoor patio is the move--super cozy, stylish, and a great spot to just relax and enjoy your food. It really adds to the overall experience, especially on a nice day. We ordered the kimchi fried rice and wow, it was packed with flavor and the perfect balance of savory and spicy. Also tried their chai and it might be one of the best we've had. Rich, warm, and perfectly spiced. Highly recommend it if you're into chai. On top of all that, the service was amazing. Honestly I love coming here for brunch/lunch! I have been here multiple times with friends and I always get something I like. So far we've tried huevos rancheros, breakfast tacos, chilaquiles, the veggie burger, and different pizzas. Everything has been yummy! My favorite is their veggie burger and pizza. I've also gotten their chai multiple times and I prefer it hot over iced. It's very tasty and has a great level of spice without being too milky. The inside is beautiful with lots of seating and the outside seating area is perfect for brunch on a beautiful day. Sitting outside, people watching, and chatting with your friends adds onto the great atmosphere of this place. Parking can be a little tricky due to the area and how busy it can get with the other restaurants/bars. I haven't tried their other location but I recommend this one for sure! It was over cooked, a little burnt on the edges and very dry. I was only able to eat half of it as it was so bad. My coworker also got the burger and his was dry too. I'm glad I wasn't alone in my. Misery. He only ate half of his too. They get two stars because the service was good. Our food was served quickly. We got there at 11am so it was early enough to get a few tables together for our group. They don't take reservations so you need to get there early to get a table. I love Cafe Bernardo and have only been to the one of R street. I wanted to try this one and check out the ambiance. Manager was super nice, with the bun. He was very accommodating and helped us when needed, especially with 2 toddlers at the table. We came here for a cousins date with the kiddos and it turned out to be great. Restaurant wasn't packed for brunch, but we managed to snag a seat while one of us went to order everything. All the food was delicious and we had no issues. We even sat for a bit to chat after finishing out meals and didn't feel rushed. I love the ambiance because of all the windows and open air concept. Restrooms are located in the hotel, since this is a restaurant connected to the hotel. Will be coming back for sure. read more

Flavorful, cooked just right, and the salsa over the chips was sooooo good. I splashed a bit of hot sauce on top , but to be honest it was fine by itself. I washed my meal down with a moscow mule. Again, bomb! Refreshing and made just right. Yikes! I totally forgot our waitress name, but she was super nice, patient, and accommodating to all request. Overall, service was great. This place has kind service and a great location for state workers(reason for 2 stars) But this time we had a larger group, some never got their food, and had to take it to go. We had to eat separately. Due to slow service. Their food is extremely high for what you get. They over cook all meat and salmon, and you have to pay extra for simple fries(not even seasoned) or a generous amount. You will leave hungry, unless you want to spend $30 plus for lunch. I paid 20(plus tip) for a lettuce wrap over cooked patty(which I requested medium) that had only onion and blue cheese. Oh and they add an extra charge too to all bills ( 3%)! Cafe Bernardo is a casual cafe that serves a solid Brunch. I've been to Cafe Bernardo for drinks before but this was my first time trying food from their Brunch menu. I entered the restaurant on a Sunday morning and noticed that there was ample seating available both indoors and outdoors. The restaurant is very bright, spacious and there are actually two sides to the restaurant at this location on R street. My friends and I decided to find a table on the side closest to the bar area so that we could have table service vs just ordering at the counter. The side of the restaurant we selected also had plenty of big screen tv's which had the Sunday morning football games on. For my meal, I ordered the Chicken Apple Sausage Scramble and it was filled with scallions, smoked mozzarella and it was served with herbed potatoes, toast and jam on the side. I really liked the scramble and the herbed potatoes were well seasoned. My friends and I shared the Brioche French Toast which was topped with peaches, raspberries, almonds. The toppings tasted great overall but the French toast itself lacked flavor. Our waiter throughout the meal was attentive & kept our glasses full of mimosas. While they do not offer bottomless mimosas, my two friends and I found that we were able to share what we ordered at a reasonable price. read more
