I've been to Bennett's a few times after work for happy hour with coworkers, and overall it's a good spot. The drinks are consistently good, especially the lemon drops, and the happy hour appetizers are delicious. The baked brie is definitely one of our favorites. We've also ordered from the regular menu, and the food has always been very good. The only downside has been the experience at the bar. The female bartender who is usually there during happy hour never seems happy to be there. She always appears rushed, doesn't smile, and gives the impression that taking your order is an inconvenience. It definitely takes away from what could otherwise be a great happy hour experience. On a recent visit, we decided to sit at a table instead of at the bar, and the difference in service was noticeable. The table service was much friendlier, more welcoming, and made the overall experience much more enjoyable. We'll continue coming back because the food and drinks are worth it, but I do hope the bar experience becomes a little more welcoming. My husband and I came here for a much-needed date night to celebrate our anniversary, and it ended up being such a great experience. The atmosphere was cool, cozy, and perfect for a relaxed yet elevated dinner. I ordered the Chimichurri Steak Frites, and the steak was incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. I've heard about this place but this was my first time dining here. My friend and I decided on bubbles&brubch which comes with 2 brunch entrees and a bottle of champagne and 4 different fresh squeezed juice. We both decided to order short rib enchiladas&eggs, I've never ordered enchiladas in my life (because it always looks so heavy) but I wanted to try it. Ok it was actually quite delicious, it wasn't heavy on cheese and the sauce was yummy and not as heavy as I imagined and there was lots of meet in them. The only issue for me was every time I ask for "eggs over medium" it always comes out "over easy" which is the yolk is too runny and not cooked at all. I can make perfect eggs over medium and I don't understand why no restaurant is able to do it... But over all, great bubbles&brunch deal, good service, good food, good people watching fun place, I will definitely come back! read more

We made reservations on Mother's Day and they seated us right on time. Very nice Restaurant. Great environment plenty of staff. Menu has a lot of options to choose from so everyone can be happy. We ordered empanadas to start with and they were so hot and delicious. My wife also ordered a pizza salad which was large and fresh. I ordered a 12 ounce prime rib and it was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. It came with creamy mashed potatoes and a salad. My wife also ordered the braised short ribs, which is always one of her favorites and she enjoyed it. Our son got the Alaskan halibut and it was a good size portion and he really enjoyed the sauce that accompanied it. We finished with the butter cake, which is very good. It's a good portion so it's definitely enough for two maybe three people. Finally I can't say enough about our server Nathan. I have not tried Bennett's since they replaced Banderas spot. I was pleasantly surprised by their Happy Hours Menu. It has a pretty good selection of food and they have Happy Hour DAILY from 2-6 pm. I have a 9-5 desk job, so I almost can never make it to Happy Hour until now! Woohoo. If you don't start off with wine or cocktails, you're not doing Happy Hour correctly! LOL. I absolutely love their Lemon Drop with house-infused lemon vodka (yum!), triple sec, fresh lemon juice, cane syrup and sugar rim. It's a bit on the sweeter side but I still like it. We enjoyed the Chicken Wings of 1.5 lbs. of drumettes, over roasted and flash fried, tossed in BBQ sauce. It is finger licking good! This is a great dish to share with a group of friends along with Garlic & Parmesan Fries. You can't go wrong with these two dishes. Another dish that I like is the Hoisin Glazed Ribs. I've also tried the Salmon Lettuce Cups and Thai Chicken Sticks, that was just okay. Nothing memorable. It was lacking flavor. At my last visit, I've tried the Maui Beet Salad and it was a bit disappointing. I didn't like the ponzu sesame ginger dressing. It tasted a little off to me. So I tried this place again and it's better. I went here with some friends and we had a great time. It's in a strip mall and the parking is tight. I usually get lucky but my friends had to park further away. I had reservations and we were seated right away. The place does get packed at times. Tonight was no different. They do have a large bar area so I think you could walk in and sit there but not for a group. I forget they have a happy hour so some of the food and drinks are cheaper. We ordered from that menu to save money. heheh. We got the chicken wings which was really large plate. I think it's 1.5 lbs. They were really worth it. Then the short rib tacos yummy. The fries were not that big but good too. Lastly the ribs. a little over done but fine. We got a few drinks. I was disappointed they didn't have my Remy Martin and the Cognac they did have was Hennessey VS , yuck. I think I got a Scotch. Had a nice visit with friends and will be back for more food options. Bennet's American Cooking has been open for a while and I am excited that I finally got to try it. Haven't been to this location since Bamdera was here. Walking in it seemed just the same 1980s style dark atmosphere that Bandera had... a nice feel. However, they booth seatings are definitely the same ones and they have definitely not stood up to the time that has passed. There are spots in the bench seats where your bottom sinks in and the leather is scratched off. It felt more like an Applebee's than I expected. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I just thought it was a fine dining establishment and you definitely do not need to dress up for this place. The menu is very expensive. I was super happy that there were burgers for the boys; we were going to get the happy hour burger be cause it was before 6 PM but the waitress was nice enough to tell us that it was a smaller portion, so we paid the extra four dollars and they had good burgers. The fries were some of the best fries really magnificent crunch. For our hors d'oeuvres ordered the mussels, which were delicious the deviled eggs and the beet salad. I don't think I'd order the beet salad again, but the muscles are a huge portion and I definitely would get those For our mains, we had the steak salad a Mia salad the brick chicken, the burgers and I ordered the short rib ribs. The short ribs was the most expensive and I know why the amount of meat that was served was incredible. I did not like the way it was presented and I did not really like the barbecue style sauce I like a sweeter sauce cooked in rather than a mole presentation. The mashed potatoes were Swimming and butter. I don't know that I really enjoyed those that much. The service was really attentive and the timing for the appetizers and everything was just great. The happy hour alcoholic beverages were a good deal. But all in all for the six of us with three hors d'oeuvres two alcoholic drinks and two iced teas came up to $350 with tip so not a cheap place to eat but we'd all left with some leftovers and I would definitely return. read more

Bennetts is an excellent casual restaurant with American favorites (burgers, ribs, chops) with Mexican and Italian-inspired flavors. We came here for dinner since one menu item caught my eye and wound up dominating my review due to strong memories... They had me at Brick Chicken. Its probably my favorite preparation of chicken with its crispy skin, super soft and juicy meat, and natural chicken jus. We were hooked when Lalla Grill Monterey once served it 10 years ago, with mushrooms. Once they changed the menu, we stopped going. Montrio, also in Monterey had a bone-in Jidori version of Brick Chicken that was excellent. Anyways, Bennett's version was awesome - mostly boneless and all succulent. My 5yo som ate 80% of it and left the rest me once he saw the brown, glistening crispy skin. The rest of the dinner was also excellent. Jalapeno Cornbread is an essential starter with its crispy, spicy-sweet buttery texture that is almost dessert like. Prawns Linguine is a solid dish with a light beurre-blanc sauce. And yes, Mexican Prawns, among some of the finest, are used. We skipped dessert but I did have a spiced egg bog cocktail that came is a huge martini glass, nearly like a small vase. Our least favorite dish was the kid's macaroni - it turned out a little too soft and our son just insisted on the brick chicken. Our awesome server, Lexi even took the pasta off our bill! Definitely plan on returning next time we're in Sacramento. Brick Chicken is hard to find these days and that dish is alone for me to come back. Next time maybe we'll get two orders! read more

Came here for New Year's Eve and this place was popping. Thank goodness we made a reservation. This place was pretty loud, but the vibe was fun! The food was pretty good. We had the trio dip, devil eggs, salt and pepper shrimp and the crab cakes for appetizers. For my entrée I had the halibut. It was pretty good. Then for dessert we shared the banana pudding and the butter cake. I highly recommend saving room for the butter cake. It's so rich and delicious. It could have used more fruit and I would suggest ice cream instead of whip cream, then it would be perfection. It's enough to share with 3-5 people. I took a piece home and it was was perfect with my morning coffee. I would have given this place 5 stars, but there were a lingering fruit fly or two. We've gone to Bennet's a few times now and especially enjoy the Monday night dinner deal. Yesterday was my guy's birthday and he wanted the Monday night dinner special. We were promptly seated at a high top table (reservations strongly recommended) and greeted by our server with water. We started with a yummy calamari appetizer. I'm not sure what the dipping sauce was, but it had great flavor. The butternut squash soup came next and was perfect for a fall evening. We then moved on to dinner. I had meatloaf and mashed potatoes, which tasted fresh and homemade. My guy had the meaty pork chop and devoured it. We wrapped up our meal with the lemon creme brulee. Unfortunately, it did not impress. It was cold, almost as if straight out of the fridge and was also was a little too tangy for my liking. I guess I prefer a traditional creme brulee and should just stick with that. We had great service and a great time celebrating a birthday. We'll be back again, I'm sure. read more

I was surprised with an early Mother's Day brunch here. First time here and it didn't disappoint. We shared the Dungeness crab omelets and the Quiche accompanied by a Bloody Mary and an espresso martini. Everything was great. So feeling and the layers of flavor of everything were fantastic. So good I didn't even think about pictures. If there is a special occasion I would def think of here. They even have a happy hour from 2-6 with 32 items. The waitress Sadia was exceptional attentive with our littles and us. There is glass between the booths to keep it low key personal without the invasion of others enjoyment. Bennett's always hits the spot and their terrific menu has something to please nearly anyone. Parking is convenient to find in their large parking lot. While I'd be a liar if I said I'm still bummed that our favorite restaurant Bandera no longer has a Sacramento location and presence, Bennett's has done a terrific job with their beautiful and fantastic location. The staff is always engaging, friendly, hard working, kind, and knowledgeable. I ate solo during my last visit and opted for their USDA Prime New York steak, bacon mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. They brought out several gorgeous steaks for me to choose from. I was hungry so I opted for a big boy and it didn't disappoint. It had beautiful marbling, was tender for a New York (they're typically a bit firmer) and was cooked absolutely perfectly. I ordered medium rare and it was spot on. It was served sliced and was delightful. It's served on a wooden cutting board like plank that has grooves to catch the juices from the steak. That is ingenious and a lovely touch. The bacon mac and cheese was arguably the best I've ever had. A touch of panko breadcrumbs would've made it absolutely perfect. The mashed potatoes were buttery and creamy like I like, and had a touch of scallions which I love. This was the most enjoyable dining experience and meal. Not only does Bennett's serve fabulous meals in a lovely setting, their desserts never disappoint. I skipped one this evening but my favorite is their carrot cake. Another wonderful reason to dine here is they're wonderful stewards of the community and regularly make generous donations to local non profit organizations. I love doing business with folks that are generous and kind enough to give back when they can. Obviously it's impossible to give back to any and everyone, but a little generosity and human kindness goes a long ways in my book. This was our second time dining at Bennett's, and once again it did not disappoint. We came in for dinner with the family and were, as before, impressed by how clean, organized, and well run the restaurant is. It's clear the team takes pride in keeping things professional and welcoming. What really stands out is the service. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. Our waiter did an excellent job getting our food out quickly and making sure our entire evening went smoothly. We started with the Trio of Dips, which included house-made roasted red salsa, guacamole, and pimento cheese with house tortilla chips, along with the Bennett's Butcher Board, which had a great mix of charcuterie, artisan cheeses, house-marinated olives, and mixed nuts. Both were fantastic. For dinner, I ordered the Prawn Linguine, my wife had the Steak Cobb salad, and our son chose the kids chicken and fries. Everything was fresh, well presented, and delicious. A nice touch was the manager stopping by during our meal to check in and make sure we were enjoying everything. It shows they genuinely care about the customer experience. As we were getting ready to leave, the place was starting to fill up, which didn't surprise me. This is clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. We'll definitely keep coming back. The food was amazing. I would rate it a strong 8/10. We ordered quite a few dishes. The Dungeness crab deviled eggs, Raw Oysters, Short rib, Tortilla soup, Ribeye, NY strip, Spinach Dip, Steam Mussels, Lasagna, and Kids meal of chicken tenders and fries. (Huge portion) Portions here are very generous so keep that in mind. We were a party of 9, so we were sharing all these dishes. Everything was cooked to perfection. Our server Sarah was exceptional. She was very attentive to our party, and went above and beyond to deliver great service to all of us. We did take a toddler here and a child and she was great with them. Bairon, our Buss-boy we believe was great as well. He helped clean my toddlers mess and was very understanding and noble. Great guy. Environment here was clean. I loved the low lights. They have a ramp for wheelchair accessibility which was important to us, as we had a handicap guest. Restrooms were clean as well. Ambiance was calm, reserved. Overall our experience here was great. My friends and I visited Bennett's for our holiday brunch celebration, with a reservation for the private room at 10 AM. Booking was smooth with no issues, and our server was wonderful -- kind, attentive, and doing her best despite everything going on. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience reminded me why Bennett's just isn't for me, even though my friends have enjoyed it in the past. We started by ordering coffee but were brought water instead. When the coffee finally came, it was lukewarm and watery -- not a great start. We also ordered two jalapeño cornbreads, which no longer come in the cast-iron skillet. The cornbread arrived cold and pretty bland. For entrees, two of us split the Corned Beef Hash and the Omelette. Another friend ordered the French Dip, someone else ordered the Stuffed French Toast (gluten-free), and another friend got a kids' breakfast. Unfortunately, the gluten-free stuffed option wasn't available since the stuffing is pre-made, but they were able to make her a regular gluten-free French toast, which she said was decent. When the food came out, almost all of the dishes were cold -- except for the French Dip, which my friend said was hot and flavorful. Both the omelette and corned beef hash were completely cold and very bland, and we had to add quite a bit of salt and hot sauce just to give them some taste. Another friend had to send her dish back to be reheated because it arrived cold as well. We decided to try one last item before leaving -- the Meyer Lemon Crème Brûlée. We're all big lovers of crème brûlée and lemon, but as soon as it reached the table, we could tell something was off. It was jiggly, watery, and missing the caramelized sugar top entirely. One bite confirmed it: it tasted like warm, unset pudding. Our server even mentioned she told the cook it wasn't set, but it was served anyway. For the price point, the overall experience just doesn't match the cost -- even with some gluten-free options available. While I truly appreciated our server and the company of friends, I can't recommend Bennett's based on this visit. read more

This is one of my go-to restaurants and I wanted to try their cannelloni this evening. One of my fav sides is their cauliflower gratin. When I ate my cannelloni take-out dinner, I realized I didn't have the focaccia that comes with this entree, so I called the restaurant and we planned for me to pick up the focaccia. Upon my arrival, the team members communicated with each other and the fresh baked focaccia came out promptly. Not only did they take care of the bread, they went above and beyond with customer service and offered me a free dessert and the staff member assisting me recommended and convinced me with a delicious description, to choose the popular butter cake! Margaux is an outstanding manager and took care of my gift card and answered my questions. Susan Bennett has taken good care of us also in the past, and my family was very impressed with their service and food and enjoyed connecting with her when she visited our table to check on us. Clearly, their family puts their heart into their business and customers! This is why I am not surprised their team provides superb food and customer service! Their ambiance is perfect for a date night, a party, and for families. I love their outdoor dining option too, which is where friends and I like to enjoy happy hour. They have a decently large menu, however, I tried their steak frites in my first visit and have ordered it as my main each time since! The cocktails are good. The speed of the bar has varied each time. They were a bit slow on a busy Friday night. We enjoyed all the food except my friend was not a fan of their garlic Parmesan bread. I had heard about this place from a couple of people so my expectations were really high. My party was large but we had a reservation made. When we arrived we were told that we still had to wait due to a busy dinner service. This normally isn't a big deal to me but the person we spoke to was pretty mean and seemed as if they didn't want to help us at all. I got the vibe they were mad at us for coming in to check on the reservation. Once we did get seated, the service was like night and day. Our server was helpful, attentive and really kind.. especially with a large party. We ordered and the food came out correctly and timely. Not to mention each plate was beautiful and delicious! I was excited to dig in. Overall, I would definitely want to come back and try more items. But 4/5 stars for me because of the somewhat awkward and uncomfortable encounter at the host stand. read more

We made a reservation for 15 people for Mother's Day. The staff were very welcoming. The set up was perfect for our large party. Our waiter Cody came by and introduced himself and he took our orders, he was very fun and professional. Our food came out fast, everyone was happy with their food and Cody made sure our food was perfect. I used to come here when it was Mandangos. It has been awhile but the food and the service and the ambience were perfect. I will come here again for brunch. read more

A bit of a drive from downtown sac but good bang for your buck on the ribeye. Nicer interior than I'd expect just looking online. Accommodating service. If you order the bone-in ribeye or porterhouse, they show you wrapped steaks and tell you the weight and total cost, and you pick the steak. We got 1.8 lb bone-in ribeye for two to share. Pretty surprised we cleared it. It was cooked to order, medium rare. Could use more salt but otherwise juicy and tender. Not bad for $80. Mashed potatoes as a side for $11. Finished off with the key lime pie, which had a nice non-soggy and substantive crust (good crust to filling ratio). I liked that it wasn't too sweet. read more
