The previous dealership Nicholas Parks Hyundai/Kia was bought by the current dealership and did not share ANY of the customers records with San Leandro Hyundai Kia so they don't have any of your information from visiting/purchasing prior to the new dealership. The new dealership service dept will NOT honor any service contracts that you purchased from Nicholas Parks Hyundai/KIA (Premier Dealer Services maintenance plans, oil change, etc). After dealing with both of this dealerships, I definitely will never buy another vehicle here, nor get any more service contracts that dealerships/service departments will not honor just 5 years after the vehicle purchase. Instead of taking care of the customer and honoring something that I paid for up front 5 years ago. He tells me; "Premier Dealer Services, hasn't paid us the $20,000 so we stopped honoring that maintenance plan." So that's it huh? Bottom line, don't get suckered into buying any service contracts from any dealerships when you purchase a car no matter what they say, since they can't guarantee they will be there next year. This review is for the Hayward Kia auto repair shop at this location. I initially was unhappy with the lack of communication about progress on my Kia Sedona, but Eraca at the front desk told me that the nationwide cyber attack (in June 2024) affected their computer/phone system. Once I was given the alternate number, communication was great. She listened patiently to our concerns, was responsive in getting me a Lyft ride to/from the dealership on multiple occasions, kept me up-to-date on the repairs, and made sure I knew which parts were still under warranty. The repair team was able to fix the 2 problems with my minivan. One of these problems related to the sliding door, they were able to diagnose and successfully fix when 3 other Kia repair shops across the span of 5 years, had been unsuccessful. Also, they did a multipoint inspection, washed my car, and wiped the tires down with tire shine. Thank you. read more

I flew in from out of state to purchase a vehicle from them (2014 Range Rover sport, 85k miles). They were notified several days in advance when I'd be in and assured me the vehicle was in good working order. I flew in, rented a car and drove to the dealership, and was informed the car had to be jumped due to a dead battery. When I inspected the car it was running but gave an error that it couldn't read the key. (Key was in the car). I was assured it was because it had been jumped. It was also throwing errors about tire pressure so I walked around the vehicle and inspected the car further. Rotors were very, very badly rusted. Tires had a decent amount of tread but in bad shape and looked incredibly dry. They looked like they were a pothole away from popping. I didn't bother with the brake pads as I was certain I'd be replacing them when judging the neglect. The pictures made them look much better than they were. I sat in the front seat, turned the car off and attempted to start it up again. Engine didn't turn over. Then after 2 jump packs and 1 car were used to attempt a jump the engine wouldn't even turn over. I decided to walk away. Total waste of time and money thinking I could fly here and save a buck on a vehicle that I was assured ran great. Don't waste your time with this dealer. Low professionalism, low integrity, and one walk around the lot made it totally clear they don't maintain their vehicles or equipment. read more

It was a pretty typical experience for a new car but what was very nice was that as the salesperson lived nearby me, and as a neighborly kindnesses, he brought my car to me. That was where the All Good ended. 1) I had to struggle and call repeatedly to get my plates. 2) about 7 months later, I a technical problem with my car. The service Dept told that my car would be out of commission until they could tow it in, take a look at it and likely have take it apart-- weeks from then! I did an online search and found a very easy solution to my problem. 3) I've tried to reach them for service. I get rudeness, put in hold, back into voicemail hell. A waste of my time. Poor customer service. I called to schedule an "improvement campaign" aka recall service. Day before I received a call to confirm my appointment. I arrived next morning. The two employees in charge of checking in vehicles don't know how to drive stick. How do you work with cars and not know how to drive manual transmission? I moved my car for them. When it's my turn for the car to be worked on, I'm told they can't work on it because their machine is down. Rep offered no other solution. I asked if any other Kia dealership can take me so I can get this done. She said I can. I looked at her and asked if she could go check for me. She left and came right back and said that actually it's a company wide outage since yesterday. So...why didn't you (Kia) tell me this yesterday when you called to confirm my appointment? Why would you confirm my appointment when it was known that the service is not doable. I drove from San Bruno to San Leandro, wasted time, money, gas, toll for nothing. I've owned an Optima for 12 years and as a Hayward resident, had to travel to Pleasanton, Newark or Oakland for service. I was thrilled to find out that there was a Kia dealership in Hayward. Recently, a strange noise and a check engine light led to an entire engine replacement. The service at Hayward Kia was outstanding. They also have more extended service hours than other dealerships, and provided concierge service for us, which was greatly appreciated since I was dealing with health issues at the time. The engine replacement was covered entirely by warranty, which again, was a life saver for us. I highly recommend Hayward Kia for service on Kia vehicles. read more

We were sold a maintenance package and were under the impression that it was able to be used at any Kia dealership (we would not have purchased otherwise as this location is quite far from our house). I subsequently have tried to get a retroactive cancellation of this policy and have been calling/leaving messages 3-4 times per week without a response. I had one call back, which I could not answer due to being in a meeting. When I returned this call, I never heard back. Tried to make an appointment for my car and was told the only availability they had was 3 weeks out. This is the second time this has happen. First time was during covid so i gave it a pass. But, 3 weeks out to get your car serviced is wild. Not like i was going in for routine maintenance. The car had a problem with the alternator. I don't know how many people can go 3 weeks without their transportation to work and pick up kids from school. A call was placed to San Leandro Kia for service. The service request is a simple one. It's to replace a headlight bulb. The screen inside the car indicated "low headlight". I was told for this simple service I would need to wait for two weeks. and possibly two additional werks for the part. I called another Kia dealership in a different county about a 20-25 minute drive away. My appointment is scheduled on Wednesday, the 8th of March. This is not the first bad encounter since the original dealership, Nicholas Parks, is no longer in business. I purchased my Kia brand new from Nicholas Parks. When I get the notice the car has arrived, they suddenly spring some BS dealer accessories that are around $1k that they refused to remove. It's essentially just a markup that they hide until they ask you to come in to buy the car you reserved. Don't believe their "sell at MSRP" spiel because it's untrue. The service department promised to obtain a rental car for me while my 2.5-year old Kia was in the shop for warranty work (it's a lemon). But the rental car company called back and said actually... no they have no car to give me because Kia will only pay for Kia rentals and they have none right now. I called San Leandro Kia back and they had no solutions. So I'm taking Bart home, have no working car and don't know when I will have a working car. I guess I can rent a car at my own expense. I did a lot of research on the car I wanted to buy and once all the rebates and incentives were in place, I reaching out to San Leandro Hyundai/Kia which had it in stock. No surprise, I got a e-mail back pretty quickly with a friendly greeting and another one when I didn't respond a few days later. They did a good job of keeping me on the hook but one little nit might be that I would have liked it be the same person or same name so I felt like there was some continuity as opposed to starting all over. When I decided to go in, I met with AJ who met all my expectations. 1) answered all the questions I had on the different trims. 2) He didn't try to upsell me or pressure me, just pointed out facts, which I appreciated. 3) he really knew a lot about the car in general. The rest of the process went as expected. met with the manager to discuss the business side and met with the finance manager who closed and presented the add-ons that he's supposed to do. Again, no pressure, just answered questions about what those things were. A month later they checked in with me to see how everything was going and if I had any questions. We went to San Leandro Kia dealership on 3/7/2020, test drove 2020 Hyundai Ioniq Limited and fell in love with it. However, they wouldn't give any discount, none. The word I received from the dealer was, "my manager wouldn't offer a dollar off". I have purchased several new cars before but never heard of not giving any discount, not even a dollar. Very poor management, way to lose sale. Don't shop at San Leandro Kia, not worth your time because they're greedy and they won't give you any offer. In January I bought a sportage from this dealership. I was already unhappy with the service since they failed to prep the car for delivery and just gave it to me with stickers and tags on it. Recently I got a notice from Fasktrack showing the vehicle plates in use for toll charges since I delivered the vehicle as a trade in. This dealership failed to fulfill its obligation and permitted someone to obtain and use the license plate on the trade in vehicle and run up toll charges. When trying to get their help, I found they provided the wrong phone number on the purchase agreement and showed utter disregard for the situation when I contacted them. They promised to have someone call and did not do so. Then when I called for a second day in a row, they referred to a number for their DMV person who never answers the phone. The sales manager dismissed my security concerns and me with a "no big deal" attitude. DON'T USE THIS DEALER. read more

First, their service location is at a different address and they don't tell you that when booking your apt. My car was admitted 9/13/19 and I didn't pick it up until 10/21 and immediately had to get it towed back the very next day. My agent Kristiana is unreliable. Zero communication skills. It was about 8 days till I got an update on the issue of my car. I was told it would take another 8 days for warranty approval, the part to come in and repairs. Life went on and I realized I hadn't heard from my agent in 20 days! When I finally got a hold of someone to ask for an update, they again told me it would take 8 days but I mentioned I was told that 20 days prior. I asked to speak with supervisor Joshua and he just ended up FULL of excuses with no solutions, expecting me to be sympathetic of their chaos due to new change of ownership and short staff. LAME!! If you call no answer. If you leave a message, no call returned. You ask for a manager or supervisor they are always in a "meeting." When my car was finally ready I told them I was unable to pick it up until the following week, they said no problem. No mention on when I need to return my rental. Joshua calls me THE DAY OF I'm supposed to be returning the rental and that they will no longer cover the extra days i need until I have to pick up my car. I can't just drop everything I'm doing to return the rental one hour before enterprise closes and not have a car to get to work the remaining days. I called all weekend again with no returned calls. I called first thing the morning I was going to pick up my car and asked to speak with the manager. I was told she was in a "meeting." I waited all morning and afternoon for a call back and NOTHING. Decided to just deal with it in person when I went to pick up my car. Went to the office and requested to speak to the manager before having them pull my car up. I was told she was in a meeting. RIDICULOUS!!! It took about 10 minutes before I was able to even see her. I wrote out a whole timeline to present to the manager Nicole. After presenting my frustrations with her service center she tells me "this is the first I'm hearing of this." THATS THE EXACT PROBLEM. How are you unaware of what cars are coming in and out of the shop?! After a discussion she was kind enough to try and make my experience better which I was grateful for but I feel this is the treatment that should've been given from the beginning, this being my third visit to a kia service center. As soon as I got into my car, the check engine light was on. My car had been ready to go for 4 days prior to my availability to pick it up, did they not check?!?! She reassured me that it happens and it should go away. It did, but the very next day as I'm trying to leave for work, my car is experiencing the issues AGAIN and the check engine light is back on. I immediately contact the manager and she goes lengths to get road side assistance to get my car which they weren't able to get until the next day. They had the car for another week, and she did tell me as she was test driving that it was easy to detect the issue and to fix it. I'm not sure if that was suppose to make me feel better when it actually made me feel WORSE due to the fact that I've had this issue for over 3 months and my car had been to 3 other shops, and in their specific shop for OVER A MONTH. At the end of the day I'm grateful for Nicole trying to pick up the pieces and wanting to make it right but unfortunately all her help didn't over shadow the sh*t show and crappy experience I had with them and with Kia. read more
