This is the 3rd time I've been to Haywire. It's cool and fun, the space is pretty and sort of classy and sort of trendy. There was a man in the parking lot "directing traffic" and showing you where there are open spots. We got there around 6pm and the place was starting to get busy. We were seated right away, it was a booth directly behind the hostess station. Here's where Haywire loses their 5th star- the booth we were seated in had almost all of the vinyl (?) of the seat completely worn off. Pretty gross if you ask me. We ordered the fried pickles and a glass of wine. The ranch dressing was kicked up a bit and totally complimented the batter on the pickles. Very very good! We split their classic burger, which the kitchen kindly split and plated individually for us, a nice touch. It was cooked as we ordered, the meat was juicy and the toppings-lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions and mayo, tasty! We did not stay for dessert, but were offered. Despite other recent negactive reviews, been coming here since opening -- never had a bad meal nor server; food always freshly prepared & tasty, especially the salads, burgers & fries. Today I got a take out order of a burger, salad, chili, Reuben & an unexpecked abundant amount of fries. All were packed carefully & perfectly as ordered. I loved the freshly ground MacDaddy Burger & fresh Salad. Rest will be eaten over next few days & am certain will taste just as good! I want to rate haywire a 3.5 star rather than 3 for a few reasons. I find that for the most part they consistently over cook my burger (I'm a medium burger gal all day every day). That being said the burgers are still very tasty even with it being cooked more than I prefer. I love their options for sides and typically get the haywire style waffle fries and the sweet potato fries. The aesthetic of the restaurant is really cute and the food is solid bar type food (just wish they were more consistent with the burger cooking). The standout thing here is the staff, they are always kind, welcoming and the service is very quick. I will continue to go here for the service alone (the food doesn't hurt either lol). read more

I have now been to Haywire many times, and thought it would be good to write an update. Every time we go to Haywire, the service is great and the food is amazing. We've had a lot of different items from the menu. They also have a lot of specials. The irish egg rolls are so good, they have them around St Patrick's day and it's a must try! My husband and stepson usually try whatever special milkshakes they have on the menu and are always happy with them. I also love the fried pickles, any burger on a pretzel bun, and regular fries or waffle fries with the cheese sauce add-on. The last time we went, was for a birthday celebration with a large party. Even though they don't take reservations, they gladly set aside a table for us and the service was just as amazing as when we go with a smaller group. I can't say enough good things about Haywire...it's a must visit if you're in the area and in the mood for a burger! read more

I've been to my fair share of gourmet burger restaurants in CT ever since it became a trend over the past 10 years, but this place is definitely up there among the best burgers in the state. My friend who comes here often brought me here, and I would visit her every week if it meant having burgers here. I got the French Onion (Gruyere, caramelized onion, thyme-cabernet reduction, garlic mayo, dijon schmear) and wow, every bite was fantastic. I could only finish half, and every bite of the leftovers was just as good, if not better. The fries were great as well. Honestly, every burger on the menu sounds good. My friend got the Sunnyside, and hers looked even more decadent. For people who don't like burgers, they have an extensive sandwich menu as well, including three vegetarian sandwich options so that you don't feel guilty dragging your vegetarian friends to a burger bar. Our waitress was very sweet and did an awesome job handling my friend's adorable kid when he started to get cranky. I've been their several times to give it a fare shake. Burgers are good but not worth the price they charge. All three times I've been I've waited at the door and other parties have been served before me . They never pay attention to who is waiting in line. And it took 20 min for Me and my wife to get a glass of water. Then another 12 min to be asked to put our order in. Once served we were never asked how was our food or if we needed anything else . Definitely a hidden gem for this area. The food is fresh and the fries are perfect (which is saying a lot from a self-proclaimed fry authority). The service is here is very helpful in a laidback kind of way. Our waitress Ramsea was jovial and brought a lot of laughter to our table. I got the avocado burger which was delicious. It's difficult to give a burger place 5 stars. I mean, let's be honest, this isn't David Burke's Prime or Michael Jordan's steakhouses. But I could find no complaints so I'm giving it 5 stars, anyway. The food was in the top tier for its genre. My son actually said, "These are the best fries I ever had." And if you like beer, they have a big selection with local craft beers aplenty. The bar is nice. The decor is nice. Everything works well for a casual dinner. Really comfortable. But she was really on top of her game, and friendly, and personable. I hope the managers see this and she gets a nice Christmas bonus or something. If I had to give constructive criticism, the parking lot is a nightmare on a crowded night in the dark. They are tight spaces and a weird setup. But to their credit, there was a parking attendant helping to direct folks from backing into somebody else's car or even worse, backing into a person. I don't know that there's much they can do about it given the property limits. Sounds like parking attendant is the best route to go for now. Also, I wish there was more than one bathroom for guys (who have to share it with girls - they get two bathrooms). I was third in line for the bathroom and that was annoying. But again, not sure there's much they can do about it without adding on to the building - which would cost a fortune just to add a bathroom. Haywire is a favorite in our household. The stuff is great the environment is phenomenal and we have never had a meal that we did not enjoy. This is the first time I had a spiked milkshake and and I'm super picky with my milkshakes but this was absolutely phenomenal! I fully recommend to anyone who is questioning whether they should try it. The Mac daddy was also good. It needed a little bit more of their secret sauce but it was very good. We went in for dinner after a loooooong day of red eye travel and New York traffic! The place is smal but cozy, booths are barriered from each other so it was rather private and nice. We wanted onion rings but they only offer onion straws. We ordered those, and then when they came out and find out they were quite good. We also ordered their homemade ranch and it was also quite nice. We decided to split a rodeo burger, and that was a great decision on our Park. The burger was cooked perfectly the way we like it, and was neitger big nor too small. The fries were small shoestring style but rather lacking in quantity. Taste was good but quantity seemed a little shy for the amount being charged for the dinner. Service was top-notch, the server was there every time we needed her, and always responsive and had a great attitude too! Had this place bookmarked for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We were the first customers in the place. We were greeted and seated promptly. We all ordered drinks. I ordered a beer, but it was flat and watery when served. I complained to the waitress, who gave me a smiling attitude, and asked for something different. I picked out a new beer, and she shows up five minutes later with a shot glass of the new beer for me to try. Like really? We have driven by Haywire more times than I can't count. Unfortunate for them, we were always leaving dinner or going to it. Yesterday, we made them our destination. One of the newer buildings on the shore, the interior was very modern and clean. We arrived at the perfect time, no line! We were seated right away. We skipped the apps and went right for dinner. Our son picked the kids mac and cheese (comes with a small drink). I ordered the Haywire burger. A big juicy burger with caramelized onions, bacon, cheddar and chipotle sauce. My husband ordered the Don't Mess with Texas, an equally large burger with chili, cheddar, onions and jalapeños on Texas Toast. A dollar from his burger went to Hurricane Harvey. The burgers come with a side of fries to which you can add a spicy cheese sauce (I did) or you can "Haywire" them. The Haywire Fries are buried under chili, cheese, sour cream, jalapeños and green onions. A meal in itself...maybe next time! The fries were thin and crispy. The cheese sauce, while not evenly distributed, added a nice little kick. My burger was served on a wonderful brioche bun. The onions were beautifully caramelized. The two slices of bacon were crisp. The burger was a juicy medium rare. Everything about my burger was perfection! My hubby opted for the spicy chipotle slaw, to go with his chili burger. His burger was wonderful. He loved the chili. The side of slaw was a complete let down. I know that this is the shore and a side of slaw can be on the skimpy side, but he got two tablespoons in a paper cup for $4. This was a total ripoff. Not only was portion ridiculous, but it was mostly cabbage and mayo. It lacked any flavor. Pass on the slaw! We came here at around 2 pm during a week day. We were after the lunch crowd and the service was prompt and friendly. It's a cool little place off the beaten path. They actually grow some of their own vegetables in a garden outside. We started off with the Irish egg rolls for an appetizer. This is basically a corned beef Reuben deep fried in an egg roll. This was yummy but there could have been more of them as an appetizer. I got the Fuggedaboutit burger. It was a traditional beef burger topped with ham, provolone, caramelized onion, roasted red peppers, garlic mayo. It was very tasty. I also upgraded the fries to "haywire fries" that were chili cheese fries topped with sour cream and jalapeños. A member of our party got waffle fries and I'll say those are better than the regular fries. This place is not cheap. Roughly $15 for a burger is on the expensive side, especially for lunch. We sat outside and appreciated that everything was disposable due to COVID :) I was pleasantly surprised that they let me order one of their speciality burgers in a kids size (I know it's weird but I like small well done burgers). Great Burgers, Salads and Haywire Fries! You can make your own burger or chose one of the creations they have made up. Good size so you always have leftovers unless your hungry which means you'll be perfectly satisfied! The acoustics are terrible if you are trying to have a conversation with friends or family. Very small dining room so often times there is a wait. It's nicer when it's summer time and you can sit outside on their patio. Wine is good but not much of a selection. Specialty drinks are good too and lots of beer selections. I like that you can sub out fries for a salad if your trying to be healthier and also you can upgrade your fries to "haywire" waffle fries so they come with sour cream, jalapeño, scallions, chili and cheese!
