Delicious. Tried this spot for the first time today with my husband. We had: - brisket and tri tip: cooked perfectly, just fell apart with some crispness on the ends - sauces: I loved the mustard tang sauce but my husband liked sweet smoke; both delicious! Didn't try the Fired Up as we aren't heat seekers. - Mac & cheese - very yummy, fairly classic Mac and cheese - baked beans - liked the brisket pieces in the beans; not my style as these are more savory and I like mine a little sweeter - carrot cake - worth it. Delivery was early/on time (thank you) and everything was warm and fresh! The delivery driver even separated the food for us by hot items and cold items and let me know. I appreciated all their help. New place. Much appreciated BBQ in Danville. Great smoked meats. Beef Brisket was the most tender and juicy I've ever had. Oftentimes, at other places, it can be dry. Smoked Chicken was fantastic. Ribs were overcooked and slightly dry, but the entire plate of assorted meats was a good value and delicious. Didn't even need any sauces. So good all by themselves. The sides are attempts at being "foodie" and hip, but they are lacking in professionalism. Brussels were undercooked and too firm. Cauliflower was disappointing, although a great portion, was not roasted crispy enough as we expected and not seasoned well. The accompanying tahini sauce was an odd dressing at a BBQ joint. The mac and cheese is unremarkable. The tangy cole slaw was nice and tart, with vinegar instead of mayo, and the bread 'n butter pickles and pickled red onions were the best! With the dearth of bbq places in the area, Hazy is a decent option if you don't want to drive far. However, i find it pretty average at best. Woefully overpriced, especially considering the small portion sizes ( they charge per oz for the meat). Also, the flavor is lacking, the ribs in particular are dry and tough, and overall it's another attempt by Californians taking shortcuts to try to do real bbq. Their website said there were no events, we drove 20 minutes with our 3 kids. When we arrived, the sign outside said the patio was closed. We waited in line to order since it said we could sit inside. We worked with our kids to figure out an order. When we got to front, they told us we couldn't sit inside either. I took a picture of the sign and showed her and suggested they change that. The rude cashier just said "For sure". I also suggested they keep their website up to date. She said "For sure" dismissively. The manager wasn't any nicer and said they have a big event coming in in an hour so we couldn't sit. They were totally unapologetic. It's a shame they treat customers so rudely given how good their food is. If you decide to go, definitely call ahead to get information on whether they are serving the riff raff. Don't trust the website. It is clear the priority business is parties not individual families. UPDATE: I am really impressed at how fast the owner reacher out to address our concerns. This was not very good. I got the sample plate. The food was cold, the sausage was very dry, the brisket was not good, the ribs were not smoked (or BBQ'd) and not good. The chicken breast that was dry and salty it wasn't edible (for us). It seemed as though all the meats were prepacked, heated up (sort of) and served. Before I dig into the amazing carrot cake from Hazy BBQ, I had to come to Yelp and put in my two cents. This is our third time eating here and each time I forget to take pictures before we eat. Not this time!!! I made sure that no one touches the food until I could take pictures to share with all of you. Okay, here is what we ordered...1. Large BBQ Sampler. It comes with 1/2 pound of each meat (chix, ribs, link, pulled pork, brisket) and it it all amazingly tender and tasty. 2. Mac n cheese is so creamy and delish. 3. Potato Salad was seasoned well. 4. Cheesy Mashed Potatoes were surprisingly tasty since I don't usually pick this side with bbq. 4. Brisket beans are ridiculously amazing. Smokey and scrumptious. 6. Now, back to this cake! It is more similar to a Hummingbird cake. It tastes like it has pineapple in it and the walnuts take it over the top. The pieces are huge, but I suggest you get your own because the person you share with may eat it all haha. The last visit, my husband ordered a Jack n coke slushy and loved it! It kicks your behind so drink at your own risk. I had a Cherry Sour beer. It was tasty. I enjoyed it! I suggest this place to anyone who wants great local bbq without having to drive a far distance. I really wanted to like this place! Good points- great outdoor space, they have parking, good list of beers and wines. Bad points - 1. you need to walk up and order yourself. I was there for a business meeting and you lose the vibe when you need to get up and go get more drinks, water, utensils, etc. 2. Ordered for a group and all of our food came on one tray. There were several sandwiches - are we supposed to set our sandwiches on the table?! 3. Had to get up and get "plates/mini trays" - there were 5 of us. They handed us 2 mini trays.? The primary guest ended up eating off of the huge group tray. 4. They need umbrellas. While it's nice to sit in the sun- you don't want to bake. 5. My chicken was very dry. I hope that they add wait staff, make water readily available instead of having to walk up and buy bottled water and get some umbrellas or sunshades. read more

The restaurant being in Danville, CA made me think the ribs would be beyond wonderful, instead we have to say they were not the best and probably the worst bbq we've had in years. They was a hint of smoke flavoring, but that's it! We should have passed when they didn't offer baby back, my fav, but my bad. We ordered a full rack, plus the beans, slaw, salad, bread. The beans were inedible due to way, way too much salt, so that really left us with wondering why this place survives such an area, such as Danville when there are so many stellar place to eat. Uh oh, look out... it's another Texan that loves Texas BBQ and wants to provide their take of yet another BBQ establishment on Yelp. *shrugs* Actually no, I don't spend a lot of time rating BBQ establishments on Yelp. If I don't like it, I generally keep to myself and make a mental note not to return. If I do like it, then I'll continually return - usually without leaving a review. That made no sense, but let's move on. Anyway, I lived in Texas for about 25 years ... and yeah, I am partial to Texas BBQ. Brisket, in particular. How does this brisket live up? Well the first time I came here, I was extremely disappointed. It was much too lean for my liking. The next couple of times I've visited though I made sure to ask for moist brisket. And it's been fine ever since. Is Hazy's brisket smoky enough? No. Could it be more moist? Yes. Do I wish they'd include complimentary sliced bread? Yes. Creamed corn for purchase? Sure. This place is exactly what Danville needed and I'm sure will be a staple for years to come. I love that Hazy is family owned and operated by longtime Danville locals. The outdoor patio is massive and they have dozens of local beers on tap which come summer (and easing of covid restrictions), I expect this place to be packed and a regular hangout. We ordered the sampler platter and was able to quickly hone in on my favorites that will become my go-to's whenever I'm back in Danville. The sampler platter was an easy way to taste everything and was perfect size for my wife and I, with leftovers for the next day. The Brisket and pulled pork are my favorites of the meats (sausage was really good as well), all the meat's were moist with great flavor and I really liked the assortment of BBQ sauces, a taste for every pallet. I can't wait to taste the ribs as they were sold out the day we ate here (guess I have to go early in the day before they sell out). The mashed potatoes, mac & cheese and garlic bread were standouts... I also love the more healthy options of brussel sprouts and cauliflower. To open a restaurant is no easy feet, and to do so in the middle of the pandemic just adds to this challenge. Yes, there were some minor hiccups that one would expect from any new business, but I expect Hazy to fix these in the future. Overall, the ambiance, environment, food and service is stellar and like a fine wine, will only improve with age. read more

What an amazing addition to the Danville downtown. I tend to be pretty picky about my BBQ but I found that this place just hit the spot in every avenue. I tried it on opening weekend and there seemed to be a few service kinks but I know those opening jitters will be gone and we will have an amazing place to enjoy delicious, smoky, moist and succulent BBQ for years to come. Disappointing. Ordered the lunch-special BBQ fried chicken sando. Lacked any semblance of crunch. Was more like a lamely breaded grilled chicken than a fried chicken. Almost wonder whether my order was misheard. It was somewhat difficult to tear off a piece/chew. I did enjoy the BBQ sauce, which covered for some of the lack of flavor from the chicken itself. The tangy coleslaw, on the other hand, was flat-out bad. Weak texture on the cabbage mixture, and strange flavor on the dressing. Two bites and in the trash for that component. Danville is the halfway point between my San Jose sister and me, and this restaurant will definitely be on my top ten list. I had the brisket sandwich with a side order of Brussel Sprouts. She had the chicken salad, and then took home a BBQ sampler for her husband that "should last all week." Lol, not in my house... Both meals were excellent. Really dirty as far as ordering food. The guy was serving was dirty and looked just left hospital. The guy was serving food for my husband and I his mask was really dirty and food was on his mask. With same gloves he was wearing he touched all surfaces and touched his apron. Customer service was bad. We ordered two sandwiches and instead of giving two trays for each sandwiches they put them in one tray when sandwiches are not wrap in any paper or box and as you grab it every thing falls out of it. They didn't even bother to put the sandwiches together even by a toothpick. Because of Covid every one knows shouldnt use hand dryer in toilet and even this place is super new they didn't have tissue to dry your hands. My food was horrible. Not one thing that we ordered was good except the BBQ sauce. Unfortunately we nothing to eat it with. Everything was cold. The brisket had so much fat I wouldn't even give it to my dog. We ordered 2 different flavors of shrimp. Both were under-cooked and cold. The coleslaw was under-dressed stale cabbage. The potato salad is awful. It had huge chunks of red potatoes with no flavor. The mashed potatoes had whole garlic cloves in it, and the beans tasted like they came out of a can! The only hope is they sell alcohol so maybe they can stay in business. read more

Let me preface this with I literally stopped eating so I could rave about my dinner! The ribs are so tender I don't need a knife to separate them. The tri-tip is well seasoned and both lean & juicy. I'm a side whore and damn did they deliver...Potato salad has nice big herby chunks, mashed potatoes are super cheesy and the brussels are just the perfect amount of spice.
