We were so excited for Headlands to open right around the corner from us. We've been heading to the Lafayette headlands since they opened. This one is a far cry from the great food and atmosphere in Lafayette. First, the Smashburger, despite their claims that it is the same as the one from Lafayette, is significantly worse. Just avoid it. The one in Lafayette is perfection. We also got the wine, and it was terrible. Tried to send it back but the server could not be found. Then the staff is anal. When we walked in with our 5 year old, we got a talking to about never letting him out of our site because they had an incident a while back. We get it, this is a restaurant. But the way they approached the whole thing just made us feel unwelcome from the getco. Lastly we were a party of 8 and needed to wait. Fine. We finally got a fireplace seat, and they told us we could only take half of it! They tried to squeeze 6 adults and 2 5-year olds into half of the fireplace seats. Expensive, bad food, poor service and just assholes about kids. We won't be back. Do better. read more

I had the best time visiting Headlands Brewing! Although I live closer to another location, I continue to make the journey out to their new Walnut Creek spot! The food is amazing, excellent cocktails and beer, the staff is fun and knowledgeable, and the outdoor vibes make this place a 10/10. I especially like having an "adult only" section. It's nice to not worry about tripping over little kids running around! They get very busy, so keep that in mind if you're trying to come with a large group - get here early! All in all - probably my new favorite place to hang out in Contra Costa County! read more

Almost perfect for parents. We loved our time at the brewery and loved how there were areas for adults only as well as areas blocked off for kids with a mixed section in the middle. The fire pits and heat lamps are wonderful as well. We didn't eat there but did enjoy the drinks. The only complaint we have is that for such a family friendly place there was no changing table in the bathrooms. We had to change our infant on the floor. It would be really important for all parents if they could simply install them in the bathrooms. read more

This place offers a great dystopian dining experience. Parking is a pain in the arse, requiring you to go into a garage, and complete a questionnaire with credit card info all for the privilege of validated parking. 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Smash burger is decent but nothing spectacular. $12 for a small burger is terrible awful value. Basket of fries is sized for Lilliputians . My wife's burger had no onions at all and mine had a token miniature slice despite choosing the with onions option on the "menu." Want to get a waiter to fix it? Haha sucker, you'll have to order something to summon someone. That someone makes no effort to look presentable, smile or otherwise maintain the polite social graces that maintain civic society. This is what younger folk call progress: unremarkable food for high prices and non existent service. But we can do everything on our phones --it's a win!!! read more

Wow, this beer garden is legit! They have a beautiful interior with local fireclay tile and fun scenic wallpaper as well as massive outdoor space with fire pits, tons of artificial turf all under an amazing redwood grove. They also have a lot of TVs for sports viewing outside as well as a stage for live music, a dedicated kids play area and, most importantly, a dedicated deck thats adults only! read more

Been here a few times and I have to say out of the local craft brew scene this place is my new favorite! Beer selection is diverse, and they're consistently pumping out new brews to cater to any enthusiast. I'm an IPA guy personally, their Diablo IPA and devil's thicket hazy I highly recommend if you're into that, if not they're certain to have something you'll enjoy. If beer isn't your thing their resident mixologist Jae whips up some killer craft cocktails too! The food menu is also pretty great (especially after you've had a few ;) ) my go to is the costa chicken sandwich, and they like to keep things fresh with new specials on the weekends (please bring back the Cuban sandwich guys!!!!!) if you decide to stop in look for Adam at the bar, he's got all the knowledge and is great to talk to. Also, the bands that come play on the weekends are sure to make your trip a memorable one! Extra bonus: they validate parking, so you don't have to worry about finding a spot down the street you can just park in the garage right next to them! Big fan of both WC & Lafayette Headlands. That said, we were at the WC location yesterday and gotta say probably the first time I wanted to get up and leave because of the pure chaos the kids were creating. As a Dad of a 3 year old, I fully support family friendly breweries (especially our local ones), but parents, PLEASE look after your kids. Breweries are not a damn playground and when other kids are all up in our space and their dirty little hands touching our food, it's not okay. No ding to Headlands themselves, and actually appreciate the kid zone and adult only section, but just remember the employees are not your babysitters. That said, 5 stars, love your beer! read more

It amazes me how much they care and how hard they work every. single. day. To be honest, it's kind of hard to drink any other local breweries' beer. Headlands has set the bar so high. S/O to their brewing team. The new Walnut Creek taproom's design is stunning. I've visited their other taproom locations and while each have a special place in my heart, I can already tell that WC will be the new go-to spot for hanging out. The 90" TV screen goes crazy. An absolute gem of a brewery! Whether you are in need of a kid friendly spot or want to remain far away from them, I have never visited a place that suits both moods better. Allison made the best cocktail I have ever had and is the absolute sweetest human I have ever met. Also, pro tip: Don't bother thinking you're going to split the smash burger and just get your own. Although the kitchen was really fast, you won't want to wait for the second order once you realize how good it is. A favorite stop for sure! read more

Walked in on a Saturday afternoon with a sign out front that said "Seat Yourself" and a load of empty tables. Loads of empty tables, about 5:30pm. We sat ourselves as instructed at one of the many empty tables. A few minutes later, we were greeted angrily by a woman who is apparently the host who told us to "get up now" and said "I had the sign turned around backwards, we are taking reservations only." The host went out of their way to embarrass us by rudely forcing our entire party up from the table without the slightest acknowledgment of her mistake and forced us to the corner of a busy road. We have 1-2 babies in our group, so that was not safe. I don't believe there was truly a need to kick us out like that, I think the host/hostess was flexing unnecessarily and in the process lost some key local community business. read more

They have an eclectic selection of beers, along with a good choice of wines. And I was happy to see that cocktails are available at this location. The food menu is more diverse than their Lafayette location, offering a variety of main courses, salads and sides. Of course, the standard bearer - The Smash Burger - is the go to standout on the menu, and it didn't disappoint on the evening we were there. Went here for the first time last night with my wife. Nice parking garage only a few steps away with 1.5 hr fee with validation (pay and validate with QR code and app - simple). Was pretty busy when we arrived but seats available. All seating is outdoors but they have plenty of heaters so not an issue. Ordering is done with a QR code as well - nice app that works well. We split the chicken sandwich and pretzel along with a Lager and Pilsner. Both the food and beer were excellent. The only reason this review is 4 stars and not 5 stars is nothing to do with the food or service. The reason is children! What? If you are considering bringing your young children to this pub/brewery/tap room DON'T DO IT. Get a sitter. If you HAVE TO bring them along DO NOT let them run all over the restaurant like it's a playground!! I'm so tired of parents these days (yes I sound like old man river) not putting boundaries or supervising there children. Jeez - Parents these days - LOL read more

I love this brewery in Lafayette, was excited for them to open in Walnut Creek. We went on opening weekend and unfortunately one of the servers was very rude and made our son cry. He was playing on the stage with 3-4 other kids. As i walked up to tell him to get down (there is a sign that says no kids) the server came out and without speaking to any parents started yelling at the kids to get down and said "there is a sign!" Like the kids could read (they were young). My son started crying, the server should've come to the parents. I was on my way to get my son down and he saw me. There was no reason for him to be the parent. The same server then yelled at my son again for running. It was ridiculous. The place was packed with kids and families. There was kids everywhere. Idk why they thought they could control that. Also, in Lafayette, they allow kids on the stage. It just didnt seem as family friendly as we were expecting given the Lafayette location. read more

This place is awesome for families UNLESS you encounter Julia. She makes the day awful. "We have a kids area" but only if you play the way Julia wants you to play. She is absolutely obnoxious, and makes a potentially amazing place be the absolute worst. If you have kids and want a good time either pick a different brewery or call ahead to make sure Julia isnt there. If you want me to edit my kids behavior, fine but never physically touch my kid. read more

I had a wonderful experience with my work staff at Headlands Brewing Company!!! Parking was easy and my parking was validated by Headlands, so it was free for the hour and a half I spent having dinner and beers there. The food was great, the service was very efficient, and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. They have TVs all over, so no matter where you sit, you'll have a great view of the games that are on. I will definitely go back again to catch a Warriors, A's, or Niners game and to enjoy one of their seasonal beers! read more

Definitely felt the daycare beer garden vibes - on the one hand it's cool that families have a place they can go enjoy adult beverages and not have to get a babysitter, but for those that are looking for some adult time with a beer, it was hard to really relax here.
