It was raining but the cozy area under their overhang was perfect, lots of heaters and an amazing TV ditch. Great family spot and will be an absolute blast in the summer. Beers and staff are amazing and great to have a cocktail bar in the area for a date drink. Smash burgers were perfection! They had a spicy mayo sauce on it that was such a great twist from the norm. Parking is mostly pay only or a little bit of a walk and hunt for free but we stayed for two hours and it was very reasonable in the garage right behind them. read more

We hosted a wedding rehearsal lunch here and were treated like royalty! Will and the entire team went out of their way to provide the perfect relaxed venue that we were looking for, even welcoming the bride and groom with a festive sign. They helped us plan the event, kept in regular touch with us, cordoned off a section for our group, and even reassured us that they'd make it work if the unexpected rain forecast came to pass (it didn't, but they had heaters at the ready for the gloomy first hour). The service was great, food was plentiful, and they welcomed and served the desserts we brought with us. It couldn't have been easier for us, and took all the stress out of this lovely afternoon. Good beer, decent food and easy to come here with a group because you can each order your own food and drinks via the QR code on your smartphone, and pay for just your own, or just what you decide to order. A nice dog-friendly outdoor patio as well as good service here. This is where the positives end though. The parking sucks. Even though I got a validation for a discount to park in the garage next door, I still had to pay $10 for parking. I could have parked on the street, but it's only 2 hour parking so I would have had to move my car before that time or risk a parking ticket. On weekends, you can park in the nearby BART parking garage or lot, which is about a block away. In retrospect, I probably should have done that. I will do that next time. read more

It was super cold but they turned on a heater when we asked. They were out of propane for the table next to us, this was surprising because it's an outdoor operation. So we shared and let the family have our spot when we left. The low review more than anything was the nasty ass over priced pretzel. It was really bad. The word to describe it best was pathetic. The experience and pretzel was worse than frozen food and staying home. There is so many better brewing places in the bay. I don't see myself going back. Their location is awsome and their beer was solid. Overall we were extremely disappointed. Waste of time and money. They weren't all that friendly maybe we just caught them at a bad time. read more

I loved the vibe of this brewery! Great outdoor space, gorgeous redwood trees, parking garage with validated parking. Pros: -It was packed while we were there. Ordering from the QR code eliminated any need to track down waitstaff. -Our food came out stupid fast. Literally within five minutes of ordering! -We snagged one of the last free seats at a firepit and it was fun to chat with the folks next to us. -Good food. Cons: -No shade at the firepits we were sitting at. It was also hot as hell, so water misters would have been a lovely touch. But some shade at the very minimum please. -They have different folks for delivering food and beer. Typically fine, but with how fast our food came out and how backed up the beer person was, the drinks didn't come out until *after* we had finished eating. -So. Many. Unattended. Children. Granted, I don't have kids and will never understand why parents want to make breweries the new child-friendly hang out spot, but there were screaming kids running around constantly and every time I got up to refill water/use the restroom/etc I'd have to step over and/or dodge kids whose parents aren't paying attention to them. read more

Checked out Headlands Brewing's new WC location (2999 Oak Road, just off Treat). Enjoyed the casual, family friendly (babies and dogs!!!), post-work happy hour, environment. Each of us had a smash burger and fries. Simple and yummy! I enjoyed my drink - their version of an Aperol Spiritz. Overall, they have a good, but limited food menu (salads, burgers and a few apptz) and an ample drink menu - wine, cocktails, seltzers, ciders, and beer! Editing to add... You can order at the counter, or they have a QR code to order at the table (all food delivered to you). We ordered our food at the table, but I couldn't find the drink I wanted, so I walked up to the counter to ask a few questions and they were easily able to add my drink to the existing table tab! read more

This is an amazing addition to the Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill area. Julie the GM is a rock star and her staff is always attentive and very friendly. The food is amazing and the cocktail and beer offerings are solid! They have outdoor TVs to watch the games with heaters to keep you cozy. Very nice atmosphere with live bands on specific days. My only disappointment is not with the place, it's with the entitled parents who let their kids run around like it's a playground and don't listen to the staff and are very inconsiderate to others trying to have a good time. Please leave your kids at home if you are going to let them run around unattended and let them run into staff. YOU folks are the problem not only here but elsewhere. Came here tonight expecting the burgers and beer cheese like the ones in Lafayette. This place is not it. Burger lacked flavor and the sauce did not taste the same. Very disappointed. The fries were not worth the cost - tiny bits and pieces of shoestring fries, a waste of money. Ordered the winter smash because we saw it being served. It was in a tall glass that was 90+ percent ice. Requested less ice and the drink came in a glass 1/4 of the size. What a racket. Won't be back to this location, not with it at all. read more

My family and our friends went here over the weekend and had an overall nice experience. We love that there's plenty of parking and lots of room for kiddos to play. When we couldn't find a spot to sit, the host was incredibly helpful and found chairs for us. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. We especially appreciated the 2 gluten free beer options! The biggest negative (which luckily is very fixable), was that the music, which was lovely, was excruciatingly loud. Considering we had 2 babies in the group we used an app that measured the decibel of the music and it was at a level considered incredibly unsafe for babies - hovering around 85 decibels, even though we were outside and far away from the speakers. Because of this, we had to leave much earlier than we wanted. We totally understand if it was during the evening, however it was 2:00 on a Saturday with loads of children and families. Hoping this can be adjusted, and we'd love to make this a regular spot for the fam. read more

This place is FIRE, figuratively and literally! They place has a great vibe due to the friendly staff and abundance of fire pits, including the biggest and warmest fire table I've ever seen! They also have a bunch of outdoor TVs so I was able to watch the CAL football game will enjoying a "lukr side pour" pilsner which was somehow super creamy AND effervescent, WOW! What a GREAT evening at the new Headlands Brewing in Walnut Creek (by Pleasant Hill Bart). Headlands takes over the former Taheri's Restaurant location. The have completely remodeled the space and created a warm and welcoming place to gather in the neighborhood. The beer garden offers something for everyone; plenty of seating near firepits, a stage for live music and entertainment, a playzone for the littles, and even an adults only area. The garden is surrounded by a tall fence, providing a noise barrier and leaving you feeling secluded. There are firepits and heaters throughout the garden to keep you toasty on a chilly evening. I don't drink beer, so I was really happy to find out that they have a full liquor license! They've create a few specialty cocktails like Kiwis on Parade and Boulevard Treat, but they can also whip up a fabulous espresso martini since the also serve espresso and lattes at the brewery! Headlands offers a small menu during their soft opening phase. They're Smashburger is a favorite among locals at their Lafayette location. Boy is it tasty! You can also order a double of this flavorful burger. For the vegetarians, they also offer a black bean veggie burger. The seasoned fries were tasty, and I really enjoyed the Biergarten Pretzel with the IPA mustard and the beer cheese. Their grand opening is March 1st; they will offer an expanded menu and you can have a sneak peek by checking the photos in my post. Julie Boisen and her team provided outstanding service! I was shocked to hear that they were all new to the Headland's family; they seemed like they had worked together for years. I really appreciated the friendly staff throughout the establishment! A couple of extra notes: Ordering is typically done when you enter the establishment. There are also QR codes throughout the beergarden to order drinks and food. There is not any indoor seating, but they may add some bar stools along the wall by the open windows. The space is both kid and dog friendly. Julie Boisen, the manager, wants to hear from her customers about events and activities you would like to see. There is a parking garage behind the establishment on Wayne Drive. This is an amazing addition to the Contra Costa Centre and a bustling destination! Customer service was on point! The redwood trees keep the beer garden area cool. We were able to park in the parking structure right behind the building and get an hour of it validated which was nice. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by staff and given recommendations on different beers to try. We were really impressed by the food! We tried to the smash burger with seasoned fries and the steak sandwich with salad. It was all really good! It was also nice because they gave us a pitcher of iced water to keep at our table and a water bowl for our dog. It was nicely shaded with trees and offered a lot of different seating options. We've only been twice. First time was great. Everyone was welcoming and friendly and it was so kid friendly. The second time, not so much. We are super disappointed in the change in tune of how this place is accepting of families. What's the point of a kids zone if you expect parents to essentially keep their children on a leash? Also, why are you trying to pack people in like canned tuna? The first time everything felt spacious and open. The second time it felt claustrophobic. We were crammed into one of the bench/fire pit sections with another family. And, again, it just doesn't have the same welcoming feel like the Lafayette location. I don't generally feel like a needy restaurant customer -- all I want is good food, solid drinks, friendly enough service, and decent prices -- and I feel like this is the kind of place I'm always looking for. Not pretentious, super kid friendly, great beer, and a comfortable place to be. The smashburger is great, as others have mentioned, though I also want to call out the pretzel, which I would've happily eaten 4 of. Most importantly -- the kids loved it and so did we. We were so excited for Headlands to open right around the corner from us. We've been heading to the Lafayette headlands since they opened. This one is a far cry from the great food and atmosphere in Lafayette. First, the Smashburger, despite their claims that it is the same as the one from Lafayette, is significantly worse. Just avoid it. The one in Lafayette is perfection. We also got the wine, and it was terrible. Tried to send it back but the server could not be found. Then the staff is anal. When we walked in with our 5 year old, we got a talking to about never letting him out of our site because they had an incident a while back. We get it, this is a restaurant. But the way they approached the whole thing just made us feel unwelcome from the getco. Lastly we were a party of 8 and needed to wait. Fine. We finally got a fireplace seat, and they told us we could only take half of it! They tried to squeeze 6 adults and 2 5-year olds into half of the fireplace seats. Expensive, bad food, poor service and just assholes about kids. We won't be back. Do better. read more
