Brand new so very clean. The staff was nice. The women who helped me really did not talk much but that was fine with me because I liked how relaxing it was. Sometimes I just like to be silent and enjoy the service. Good color choices with lots of variety. Since they are new all the nail polishes are new too so that is nice. Overall really great. They have street parking there and also a lot nearby. Also close to the Barnes and Noble bookstore and RA sushi so that was nice too. read more

I'm super duper picky when it comes to my manicures. I decided awhile ago that these stand-alone manicure places just weren't doing the job (no offense to them). So I called HM on a Saturday morning and got a mani/pedi appointment right away! Since I live so close I walked over and was greeted by two lovely ladies. They couldn't have been nicer. My mani/pedi was done by two different people, I wish I would have gotten their names. My pedi was great, no complaints but my mani was absolutely perfect. And by perfect I mean no hang nails, no polish on cuticles...it has been 5 days and I have not gotten a chip! Thats pretty much impossible because I'm very rough with my hands. Star taken because the place was very big but they serviced three of us right by each other...dude this is a spa, I want my space! Thats all, no need to take the star off, but its my star. read more

Got a couples massage w/ my boyfriend. The massages were amazing, got a knot out of my neck i didn't know was there. We had a steam shower after, which was needed - more to warm up than anything. Okay so I come here to get a deep tissue massage and it was horrible. I was so upset that I just paid all this money for this terrible massage. I had never had a deep tissue massage before so I was a little nervous about it but the pressure she gave me was less then I get when I have done a regular massage. Secondly I understand its winter in Chicago and it gets cold but I shouldn't be so cold in the room that it is the only thing I could think about. When I said I was cold she left the room went and got a space heater and turned it on and it made the most annoying noise ever. There went my relaxation for the 90 min. I used a Groupon for a 90-minute massage, and had a fantastic experience. As soon as I arrived, I was offered a tea or coffee, but had almost no wait, even though I was early. My masseuse asked me if I had any areas I wanted her to concentrate on, and what amount of pressure I wanted her to use, and she asked again after a few minutes to make sure I was happy with her pressure. She gave me a wonderful massage including my arms and feet, with lovely warm oil and a special foot cream. She played very relaxing music and only spoke now and then, which I was really happy about, as I just wanted to relax and enjoy the massage without constantly hearing someone talk. And to top it all off, after the massage I could have a beautiful steam shower. It was one of the best massages I have ever experienced. read more

I just tried this place out for the first time the other day. I live close by and was looking for an affordable day spa after a long, stressful week of work. I tried their special - a 1 hour massage for $50. I didn't make an appointment and they were able to see me half an hour after I arrived. This place is by no means the most luxurious spa I've been to, but it's pretty good. The place is very clean and looks brand-new (because it is). The decor is a little minimalist and the receptionists, while they said all of the right things, never smiled once. I could tell that they were trying very hard, but just lacked a little extra refinement. However, my masseuse, Kathryn, was wonderful. She was very attentive and gave me one of most relaxing massages I've ever had. People who enjoy lots of pressure may not like her as much, although I specifically asked her to be gentle with me. The steam bath afterwards was a nice touch too, although its hottest temperature wasn't quite hot enough for me. But, for the price and the location, you just can't find a better deal. read more

This is a review of the Gold Coast location. The front desk was courteous and location is clean. There is a nice girl named Irena who does hair coloring, cuts and other work. She is new at this location and great at what she does. I got a men's cut which was nice but her specialty is women's hair color. Had a rough day and really wanted a massage. I scheduled an appointment with Gema for 8pm (amazing that they are open then). It was just what I needed. Gema was incredibly attentive, focused on the areas I asked her to work (my neck), and found new spots that I didnt even know where sore. They're very friendly and the place was very clean and neat. The massage table was comfortable, but the face cradle was not. I have an issue with face cradles generally anyway, but this was one of the cheap flat wood ones. Probably could be remedied with a new and bigger pad. I have been to Heavenly Massage on several occasions and have never been disappointed. In fact I am impressed the prices are low and the service is absolutely wonderful. The staff is friendly and attentive. I have had massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. Each person is extremely experienced and takes the time to make you feel special- which adds a nice personal touch. Beata is great for facials and I love Tunga for my nail services. I recently had my sister's bachelorette party here and they let you bring in food and alcohol. The staff was incredible and refiledl our refreshments if we were hungry or thirsty. Really phenomenal experience, Heavenly Massage in Gold Coast is the real deal. Large, comfy pedicure chairs, blow dry tables with lights to dry and harden your mani and pedi, and very very clean environment. My mani/pedi took an hour and a half, while at spa emilia it took three hours (too long). I am extremely picky when it comes to nail salons and the job manicurists do. I ended up requesting my manicurist again because she did such a wonderful job. She was polite, cut my cuticles properly, and was overall very pleasant. One of the best parts of this experience was the coupon I used for the services I had done today, nearly cut my bill in half. To make it better, they gave me two more coupons when I left. When I come visit my best friend in Chicago and our feet are tired from shopping, we usually make a quick stop at Heavenly Massage for a 30- or 40-minute massage. :) It's great because you can make same day appointments (even on weekends!) and usually there are people available. The masseuses are very nice and skilled and will go just at the right pressure you ask them to. More awesome is that they have showers (with steam functions) that you can use afterwards to rinse off the oils that were just rubbed all over you -- I had that feeling when the oils stick to your clothes. read more

It took me awhile but I finally went back in - mainly because I needed to get my nails done, and I don't have time to do it during the day tomorrow and they are open late. It was much better this time - my nail tech's name was Nina and she was good. She didn't rush, but she also didn't have me sitting there forever. I would go back to her, specifically. They said that you can request people, so I will be doing that. It's also nice that this place is open late during the week (till 11pm). I was invited back, and I had a pleasant experience. I really appreciate the fact that they wanted to impress their customers and correct negative feedback. This time all the receptionists and therapists were very attentive and asked me if I had water, or if the room temperature was good, and if I need bathroom break. I asked to have the mud wrap before the facial this time (coz I don't like my face being pressed on the bed all the time during the mud wrap), and they accommodated my request on the spot. One thing my massage therapist, Martina, focused on was that she asked me many times if I was cold (Because I was freezing last time), and she also assured me many time to take it slow with changing and showering, and had a shower cap on so the mud doesn't get on my hair. She was very good with the massage; last time I didn't have time to get a massage at all (I wasn't happy because the pricing marks clearly that the price was for "hands-on" time, excluding prep time and dressing time). The massage was relaxing. I got a facial from Ashley, she did a very good job with the facial! It was very good, and miles ahead then last time; she did a good extraction and the facial massage was very relaxing. She was also very professional and very attentive. I absolutely loved this spa! My husband and I have been looking for a spa that provides an awesome hot stone massage, and this spa is it! And the price is very affordable, with a 50 minute hot stone massage being $70. To be honest, there was nothing too impressive about the ambiance or interior design of the spa, but I honestly don't really care about that! What I care about is the quality of the massage, and it was fantastic! First off, my husband and I were in a couple's room, which I always like. The two very polite and kind ladies who gave us our massages always made sure the pressure was just right and the stones weren't too hot. And I now know why they call their spa, "Heavenly Massage"... the massage was heavenly!! It was so relaxing!! And we got a complimentary steam shower after the massage. I always appreciate extra spa perks like that. Some suggestions I would recommend though... I wish they had bigger baskets to place your clothes in while you're getting a massage. Everything my husband and I had couldn't fit in the basket, so I wish they had a better place to store your clothes. I truly wish the tables would've been heated. That is the icing on the cake when the massage table is heated!! And I also wish that you could tip via your credit card! For some reason, they only accept tips via cash, and we we're not aware of this. And clearly... we had no cash on us, which really disappointed us because we wanted to tip for such a great job! But we will definitely be coming back here when we are in town next! They have a great spa menu to choose from, and it's in a great location, right in the Gold Coast! Great deal for a mani/pedi! If you pay in cash, a manicure/pedicure is only $29.99, which is a great deal for this area. The space is very nice and there are big windows to let in light as you get your nails done. Compared to other places in the city, I would say that this is the nicest nail salon for the money. Massage. My wife and I bought groupons and each had a 50 minutes massage. Mine was just okay and she thought hers was great. The reason why the difference of opinion is because of personal preference. The massage was focused around breathing and pressure points, yes afterwards I felt better but in the moment it was painful and uncomfortable. It is clean, bright, and inviting. The staff are friendly and attentive. I found it to be very relaxing. I wouldn't choose this place if you're in the party mood (not the BYOB and SATC atmosphere), but if you want a peaceful pedi, it doesn't get much better than this. The first experience would of been a two star due to an "out there" experience with a therapist, but I went back with Patricia and the massage was great. I am in the industry, so I really appreciated her quality of touch. She didnt ask me how the pressue was, but it was great. I told her my needs, and she nailed it- which I think is what makes a great therapist. The front desk is efficient and even though there was a little miscommunication about an expired deal, she allowed me to use it. I went to Heavenly Massage on North State for the first time today and was so pleasantly surprised. It is probably the nicest nail salon I've seen in Chicago. I haven't tried the really fancy ones in hotels and such, but just several of the nail salons scattered throughout the Gold Coast. Anyway, this place has wonderful massage chairs that all seem to work, unlike some other places. They seemed brand new! Not crowded. And for $20 first time pedicure, quite a bargain.
