This bakery was great! I went with 3 dozen "exotic" cupcakes. One dozen penises, a dozen breast's, and a dozen vaginas. The lady that took my order was professional and didn't bat an eye at my request. When I picked them up, she had all 36 cupcakes boxed up and on a cart ready to help me load into my car. Worst cake ever! Truly nasty-tasting! Worse than supermarket cake! Do NOT buy cakes from here! Five (5) yrs ago, I ordered a naked cake for my daughter's baby shower in June. I went in and spoke to Mary. She was so NOT accommodating for a custom-made cakery that I think she must've been trying to push a leftover cake flavor no one wanted just so she didn't have to spend on new ingredients. Not only did I tell her I did NOT want "YAM" flour or some strange flour (which she must've used for my order anyway because it had a musty off taste), she did NOT offer any "spring-summer" fruity or fresh tasting filling flavors, no strawberry or lemon, or raspberry, NOTHING! She limited me to pink champagne or some unsuitable liquor or heavy flavor, no springtime flavors even though this was June! So I ended up picking an unsuitable pink champagne flavor cake (that strangely she had no sample for) that was sooooo inedible it was gagworthy, not just plain vanilla or something which would've been way more edible. Even Betty Crocker cake mix is better! I paid over $250 and not one person at my daughter's baby shower ate a full piece! There were over 50 to 75 people! I threw almost the whole cake away, at least more than $200 worth! read more

Her Pink champagne is always my absolute favorite, every time i'd order her cakes i'd always get that. I was recommended by many people to have them do a custom cake for me. And they were right! They were open to ideas and made the entire process quick and painless. The cake was the hit of the party. WOW!! Just WOW!! This place went above and beyond. I went to 2 cake tastings because I changed my mind and deviated from my original plan. Originally I wanted a small cake and cupcakes - then I changed my mind and wanted a big cake and sans the cupcake idea. Our party had an owl theme. Moses went above and beyond. First I will tell you that their cakes taste fantastic. I went to another place once and the cakes looked cool but tasted bad. These taste great. So I told Moses what I wanted and the 3D owl was out of my budget so I settled for a flat cut out fondant owl to save costs. Guess who's socks were knocked off when the cake showed up looking awesomely scrumptious AND had the cutest 3D owl on top!! He totally went ahead and added it, free of charge. Surprise!!! I will be a loyal customer for any other parties I have. btw - I read other reviews and I am not sure what people expect the place to look like when they come. It's not a bakery where you buy cookies and stuff so you can't just walk in off the street to buy baked goods. But it's clean and has a couch and a table where you can look through photo albums of their cakes and sit discuss your needs. What more do you want? A pedicure? Updated: I just realized that the bottom cake was not pink champagne like it was supposed to be. I only noticed now because I finally had some of the leftover and although it was great - it was vanilla. Bummer because this shop would have been absolutely perfect. Helena Wirth Cakes in Sherman Oaks is fantastic, My sweet son and daughter-in-law ordered by custom wedding cake from them, The bakery's promise is "You dream it, we'll bake it!" and indeed they did. I wanted a yellow cake with coffee buttercream frosting and apricot filling. The kids told me several bakeries refused to make it and said the flavors would not work. To satisfy the sweet tooth at a bachelor party, I decided to order a custom boob cake. It was a hit! Perfectly shaped and wonderfully decorated, the chocolate cake also tasted delicious. Before ordering the cake I was able to meet in-person with Mary, who is wonderfully pleasant and professional. We were three weeks away from my wedding, and when we called to schedule a tasting, Mary was very accommodating and took me in that same weekend and was able to take my order for a wedding cake for 270 guests. Wow. This is some high-end cake. Wanted to always try this place and see how much better (if at all) the cakes are than a $20 cake from Ralphs. How about these compliments at the birthday party i brought it to: "This is by far the best cake I've ever had!" And "This is the first time i like the cake part more than the frosting." After having such a great experience with Yadira the year before I decided to go back in March 2012 and do a risqué cake for someone else. Unfortunately, they had a different person helping me who was rude, penny pinching, and didn't listen to what I wanted. I wrote out the directions, provided an example picture, everything they would have needed to make sure it came out perfectly including the invoice number to my last order as a template for how I wanted it set up. I ordered a quarter sheet, white frosting with thorns and roses with the carved body on top of it, paddle shaped piece of fondant on the carrying board with Happy Birthday and his name. We started going back and forth about the pricing ($330.00) which was ridiculous, she actually had the audacity to say that Yadira undercharged me for my previous cake of $360.00 (see the picture) when this cake was simpler. When it came time to pick it up on the way to the party, what I ordered is NOT what I got. It had no sheet cake just the body with thorns and roses around it. I got really pissed especially when she kept saying that is what I ordered and defending her incompetence. Last time I checked peoples bodies do not have plants growing out of them so why would I want them on a cake body? His name and Happy Birthday were not centered or evenly spaced, sloppy and was supposed to be placed on the long side not the short end of the carrying board. It was put on a dark board so that the thorns did not even show very well. She then told me that the price would have been more if I wanted the additional quarter sheet...like she had not overcharged me already? If that is the case, the part I did get was waaaay too expensive compared to the last cake I ordered. Get this, I even called several hours ahead of the pickup time and asked for a picture to be emailed so I could verify they made it right. The twit refused, saying that it was not their policy to do so. I would have had an opportunity to have them correct their mistake, but NO she would not send it. Maybe that was the point. If they sent a picture, then they have to fix their mistakes. If you don't get a preview, show up and are on a timetable then they don't have to fix it because you won't have time to wait. They actually said to me that I could get a refund knowing darn well that I was on my way to a party and would NEVER show up without a cake. What chutzpah! Rosa, the manager was zero help. I got no money back, no SINCERE apology only a 10% discount for a future cake if used within one year. Not likely, 10% off an overpriced cake is still overpriced. They actually tried to blame me for their mistake. They said that was how the order was written. That's all well and good, however I am not in the cake decorating business. If I tell you what I want and you don't write up the order right how am I supposed to know? Sorry, I don't speak bakery talk and wouldn't know if it was right or wrong, that's their job. It did say 1/4 sheet on it only from their perspective that meant the body, not the base. I guess too bad for me. What a racket! They do beautiful work when it is done right however use this company at your own risk. Insist on a picture being emailed to you and have that IN WRITING in the contract so they cannot back out. Put a time clause in there too, like a minimum of 3 hours before pick up time. That way if they screw it up they MIGHT have time to fix it. read more

They said they had just had a problem with their email account so they never received it. I would recommend calling first to place your order that way you know that they have it. I spoke to Rosa (Rosie?) and she was very patient and nice. I decided to go with the Blinkers design cake for 15-20 people, medium colored skin (light, medium and dark are the choices), and yellow cake with French Vanilla Mousse (this filling was $5.00 extra.) The cost of the cake came out to $142, but with the voucher I bought on here before I placed my order ($10 for $20 towards service) it came out to $122. I usually wouldn't pay that much for a cake but, hey, he was only turning 30 once! When I picked up the cake with my friend we were both in awe. The cake came out PERFECT! The boobs looked so real that it was kind of scary lol. It was a HIT at the party! Everyone wanted to take pictures of the cake and my husband LOVED it! It was very delicious too! We went big for our son's first birthday so wanted to have the cake match. We were recommended to Helena Wirth by several people and made an appointment on a Sunday afternoon. I called on a Friday after hours thinking I would leave a message but someone answered and made the appointment only two days later! We showed her what we had in mind and she gave us a price quote - once we agreed on pricing, she came out with some samples of their different flavors. We had them do a two tier cake with just the base fondant decor and added the characters to the cake. It came out perfect and tasted amazing! Everyone loved the Monsters Inc theme and the flavors.
