Family Fun Night kicked off with Puzzle Effect (SLO ESCAPE ROOM) we came for Nite Creamery next door.. but smelled the FRIED CHICKEN!! New! Still assembling chairs but this area has a lot of outdoor seating as well from the other neighboring businesses. This is a fun addition to The Creamery Marketplace it's like SLOPM little sister, both offer coffee, ice cream, Italian food and now SPICY or not if you choose FRIED CHICKEN!!!! Yesssss! Just really want to get a taste since we were just stopping by for ice cream. So my husband and I split a tenders order (comes with fries) we ordered them medium spice that's our middle ground, the fries has a great tasting spice on them but the fries themselves were rather limp and not too crisp. My husband said he'd prefer them less spicy as that heat met his max and I could have gone spicier. So medium can be quite hot for most. I thought the chicken was fresh and HELLA HOT my other half thought it was HELLA HOT and HELLA SPICCCCY!!! I'm not too sure about the parking situation the lot adjacent is limited spaces with 2hr free parking there is metered street parking or if you prefer there are paid parking lots and garages around the area check here on Yelp! The marketplace has a shared restroom code is offered at service. cash or credit Self serve Coca~Cola fountain drinks They also have a pink lemonade. Fried pickles (pretty good, but the coating slips off easily) 8/10

This place is pretty good but if your getting the fries with cole slaw on them, I'd recommend eating it at the restaurant as soon as it comes out. I drove 5 minutes back home after my order came out & The coleslaw made my fries so cold within those few minutes It is a little pricey. I got the max n cheese with tenders & it wasn't as good as i expected it to be! The max n cheese is definitely bland on the flavor. Fried Oreos are always good! Also showed a selection of the sauces we've tried so far. Willing to come back and try it again! Except we'll eat there this time

The best Nashville fried chicken I've ever had, and I've tried a ton! The best in slo for sure. Also the best Mac n cheese at a restaurant I've probably ever had... I usually get the 2 sliders and it's enough that I have a whole 1 leftover. Today I got the Mac bowl and it was 10/10, with soooo much leftover, so it's def worth the $.

We stumbled upon this restaurant in this cute outdoor food court. The staff was so friendly and kind. We just ordered a side of fries and mac n cheese. They ended up giving us some chicken to try. Hubby and kids loved every bite! Highly recommend. They even offered to grill me some chicken to try since I can't do dairy (which was so nice) but I had ordered a salad from another place). Nice time I definitely would! They were so sweet! Run to this place!

Tried out the new chicken sandwich place in SLO! It did not disappoint. The medium spice on their "The Sando" chicken sandwich was just right. The service was quick and easy! Also did the grubhub way so that we get a discount ;) The vibe was also pretty chill and loved how the location was also near a lot of other cool food places!

Is there a way to give this place 100 stars ???!!! I took my son for a staycation in our state! We are from the Bay Area but came down for the weekend and decided to do our own tour of food spots in SLO. He found this spot via Yelp and we said why not? We arrived and the girl that assisted us was so sweet and helpful we ordered the chicken meal with fries and deep fried Oreos. Can we talk about the chicken bites and fries dipped in their signature sauce and the honey mustard top tier I am still dreaming about it. Then the fried Oreos. They tasted like doughnuts with Oreo filling drizzled with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar! We ordered only two and instantly went back to order more. If your in SLO this is a must stop place, the only thing that was negative is the fact that they don't have a location in the Bay Area Hella Hot the Bay Area created the word hella it's only right to bring one out here Amazing food and amazing service we are already planning our next trip out there and first stop will be here

First time eating at Hellahot and it was hitting all the spots! SLO doesn't have too many options when it come the fried chicken but this place tops the list. The menu is straight forward and has many options and our server was on her game. She was able to explain the sauce options well so that our not so spicy lovers could enjoy their food as much as those that can handle the heat. The food was served in record time and it was nice to get a hot meal! Can't wait for another round at Hellahot! read more

I give them an 11 out of 10. I think their prices are good for what you get and there's lots of flavor. Their ranch is amazing, it reminds me of Wingstop. I got the mild tenders and they had the perfect amount of heat. Just a little tingle. Their fries and tenders are crispy. The tables are outside and it gets a little windy sometimes in Slo but on a nice day it seems like a good atmosphere to eat. To me this place is 100% better than Dave's hot chicken and if you like hot chicken then you'd probably agree this is the best place in town to get some. read more

You want to go here. The chicken game in SLO is strong these days -- Hella, Daves, and Jay Birds. They're all good... but I would rank Hella as 1st place. The quality of the food is excellent. Hella fresh, hella good - just like they promised. Possibly the best hot chicken sandwich I've ever had, and I'm hella mad they're 4 hours away from home. Several meal options and levels of heat to choose from, all house made sauces. There's even a salad and grilled chicken option for the fried food police. Absolutely delicious. But what they don't tell you in the caption, is the vibe and service is top tier too. of the owners greeted and served us with care and intention like we were friends. Side note, it's located in the little business cove, on the other side of the distillery place. Follow the creamery signs from the parking lot. read more

This used to be one of my favorite spots. The last few orders I have received have not been fully cooked. I thought maybe it was because it was to-go, so I decided to eat in person. The cook was drunk, screaming throughout the restaurant. Very scary experience and explains why the food has not been good lately. read more

Delicious hot chicken. My favorite spot to go for a chicken sandwich. They offer other menu options at their storefront, but I have yet to try them. They also are great at the downtown SLO farmers market on Thursday nights. The fried Oreos are truly amazing. Definitely an indulgence but one I recommend for every once in a while. The service is good, and the restaurant is very clean and easy to navigate. Introduced my bf and some friends to this place and they love it. Always a must hit when we come back to town. read more

I know I know, this is going to sound so cliche.... This place is HELLA good! I've been to Jay Birds and it's okay but this place is better. I got a fried chicken sandwich mild, Mac, and fried pickles. Side of honey mustard, the cilantro sauce, and hella sauce. I absolutely love the sweetness of the honey mustard with the spicy fried chicken. All The food came out piping hot, everything was super tasty. Highly recommend! read more

I saw an insta ad for the exact same bowl that i got but with fries just rn on my timeline and it made me think of the displeasure I had on a dreary Thursday. I had the mac and cheese dish with the chicken on top at their stand at the slo's farmer market and not only was it cold, but just not good. The mac and cheese is actually terrible. I think its literally the mac and cheese that ruins it. The cheese sauce (which honestly should be considered cheese water) was soupy and doesn't stick to the noodles and its the white colored hospital food mac and cheese that you would expect from a place that throws in mac and cheese onto their menu as an afterthought, not a place that advertises this mac and cheese as one of its best... update: great customer service just dont get the mac and cheese. read more

This was my first time eating at the Thursday Farmers Market and I had to try the Hella Hot Chicken. Their hot chicken sandwiches vary from no spice to extra spicy (you have to sign a waiver, that's how hot it is!) I ordered The Sando (hot) with a side of Mac n cheese, and I was amazed by how hearty and delicious it was! It definitely was Hellahot, going down and coming out. Shared the chicken strip and slider meal with my boyfriend, Hellahot spice level. One chicken strip/one slider was enough for both of us, and my boyfriend is a big eater. The fries were a little soggy. They became spicy too from the spice rubbing off the chicken. Mac and cheese was great for a fast food restaurant, lots of flavor and very creamy, but overcooked noodles. We both got diarrhea and I also got acid reflux but I'd still go back. The spice level was impressive; it was not only spicy but well spiced with a great dimension of flavor reminiscent of a Southern meal. I thought the Hellahot spice level was easily tolerable, comparable to a 2/4 (medium spicy) level at a Thai or Indian restaurant. My boyfriend on the other hand thought it was too spicy and his tongue was burning for an hour after . Maybe I'd try a less spicy version for the benefit of my GI tract. read more

The fries here are to die for. It isn't really too spicy though. I usually get the hella hot spice level and it isn't too bad, and my spice tolerance is average at best. The chicken is always fresh and crispy. I recommend the hot honey on your sandwich too! The SLO eats deal made it worth coming, but ever since they got off the app, it's been a little too expensive to go. Over $15 bucks is a little too much for a sandwich and fries. read more

Came down from San Jose and wanted to try this place based on the positive reviews. Definitely didn't dissapoint. I had the pleasure of speaking with Jeremy while I was ordering, incredibly down to earth guy and gave me recommendations to try around the area but everyone was really kind. So me and my girlfriend were visiting the town for a few days and we wanted some fried chicken, and yelp gave us this, so it being as wary as it was, it was the only place open, so we stopped before heading back home, and let me say I was very disappointed, 1. The mac n cheese had curly pasta Then it came with white sauce And it was so watery not cheesy at all I don't think it even had cheese in it. 2. Boneless chicken we got was terrible it. Was hard and super dry inside, definitely not hand made at all. But the fries were great just because they were those coated kind.. idk I think the owners/chefs can really do some changes.. I mean you already order the tenders fresh, why not just cut those to 1oz bites it'll definitely save you on food cost, I only know this as a fellow chef this is what I do at my restaurant and let me tell you it's a game changer! read more

Reality check: you're a fast food joint with a few rickety tables out front. What's with the fine dining prices? Sheez, you don't see this level of grift very often. Visited the SLO Farmers market and all my son could talk about is I HOPE Hellahot is there because I really want their The Mac meal but I want mine hotter last time. Of course he got it and he said it was PERFECT!! We love spicy NHC sandos and Hellahot didn't disappoint! We tried their hot and hellahot heat levels. While I would compare them to a Dave's Hot Chicken medium and extra hot, it's a different kind of heat. Loved the breading on the chicken and the sliders were perfect. The fries have a nice seasoning and were cooked to a nice crisp. The fried pickles were seasoned and fried well, not overly salty or greasy. We will return! read more

I wanted to order the lasagna, but the nice young lady taking my order mentioned it would take some time to prepare, so I asked what she suggests something big and won't take long to make and it was classic spaghetti & meatballs, so I ordered that. Five minutes after sitting down, the young lady brought me a huge Cesar's salad. I'm not a big salad guy, but this was delicious! The lettuce was very fresh and the sauce and croutons were surprising very tasty. It was so good, I had to compliment her for making such a nice salad. A few minutes later a good size plate of spaghetti & meatballs arrived and two large pieces of garlic bread. Everything was satisfyingly good. I dined on this feast for 45 minutes and made the short walk back to the hotel feeling great. It was so good, I went again the next day and tried the lasagna. That too was good sized and very delicious. Next time I'm in SLO, I'll definitely come back again.

When you walk in, you fill out a small paper checklist with your order and hand it to one of the employees at the register. They submit your order, you pay, and then wait for your sandwich. Expect at least a 25-minute wait, especially during busy hours. I tried the Tropical Vacation sandwich: smoked turkey, jalapeño havarti, "the works," romaine, sprouts, avocado, honey mustard, cranberry sauce, and sliced sourdough. I swapped the sourdough for Dutch Crunch bread, and it was PERFECT. It was the thickest, juiciest, and most flavorful sandwich I've ever had. I'll be dreaming about it until I can have it again. The pictures truly don't do these sandwiches justice, they were massive. I also tried the Spring Club sandwich. It was just as thick and delicious, though not quite as juicy as the Tropical Vacation. From what I heard about it, it tasted amazing. (I don't eat salmon). The vegetable curry soup was very flavorful and blended smoothly. If you ordered rice on the side, it would have been just like an entire meal. Tikki Masala Chicken - man, that airline chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender, great flavor, no a single thing wrong with it. The rice and vegetables were fantastic, especially the carrots. I don't know why they seemed extra good, but they were. 2 orders of the Ribeye. Once cooked medium and mine, cooked medium rare. Unfortunately, when mine came out, I immediately could tell that it was nowhere near cooked right. It was actually well done. When the waiter came back, I said "I'm sorry to have to do this..." and before I could finish he said "oh yea, that's definitely not medium rare, let me have the kitchen refire that for you". I dislike sending food back, but when you're spending $58 on a ribeye dinner, it HAS to be correct. (Note- the manager remedied the issue quick..came to the table, offered soup, bread, etc, which I had already eaten soup, so he comped 50% off the steak. Nice gesture!) The rest of the vegetables paired with the ribeye were very good. If someone told you the white bean puree was mashed potatoes, most people would believe it. Very creamy and delicious. The Italian salsa verde on top was also very fulfilling. Overall the dinner was very good.

Our waiter, Chandler, was sublime. I know "sublime" is an extreme word, but Chandler earned it. He was charming and funny, with impeccable taste. He steered us toward a red wine that turned out to be excellent value, championed the Capricciosa Sbagliata (he was right), and recommended the Tortino -- a white chocolate and pistachio lava cake with Piemonte hazelnut gelato -- for dessert.
