Today was our first time to experience Hello Dumpling. We tried to find the Walnut Hill location before, but failed as there are no directional signs in the front or back parking lot. We persevered this time and found it buried in the interior of the center, behind Bella Greens. We were so impressed, we may go back tonight - - and take a bottle of wine! Friendly Tom, the owner's husband, took our order and later served us. We confessed that we were newbies and needed his help to figure out the menu. Tom sagaciously suggested that we order a combination of savory dumplings and tangy green salads. We did. The three adults were happy to eat 'family-style' and share, so we ordered 3 dumplings: beef, chicken & veggie and 3 salads: cucumber, spinach & greens w/peanuts. At Tom's Suggestion, we ordered the beef & chicken dumplings to be pan-fried and the veggie dumplings to be boiled. This pairing created a wonderful flavor sensation! I have always had great service when I go. The food from the "normal menu" (what is on the boards at the counter) is always on point. The beef noodle soup is perfect on a cold day (or any day you are craving soup). The reason why I don't have them at 5 stars is because twice I ordered from the specials listed on paper at the counter. One time the food was not cooked through (it was tofu that was ice cold in the center) and another time there was a piece of hard plastic (like part of a machine). The server took care of me both times, but now I stick to the normal menu. Never had a problem when ordering the food they normally sell. read more

I like how calm this place seemed. The soup tasted very good (however the braised beef noodle) I don't recommend for people who don't like heavy spices. So after seeing all the awesome reviews I REALLY wanted to love this place, especially as I had brought my friend here for her birthday lunch, but sadly I can't say I left thinking "wowzers! That was a great meal" We walked in and was greeted, given ample time to review the menu and got assistance with making decisions. We were told to take a seat anywhere and even told that one item would take longer than the other items we ordered. With that said we grabbed some water and condiments and found us a spot. The potstickers and rice balls made their way to the table, followed by the bowl and then the beef skewer. Everything looked so pretty so in my mind I was ready to dig in and enjoy. However we couldn't tell one protein from the other and it all lacked seasoning. The only seasonings the food had came from the dipping sauce. To me the skewer didn't taste like beef - it had a gamey taste that reminded me of lamb. Well, my first time being here at hello dumpling was to first recognizing that since there is a bar next-door, there is no parking. Walked in and talked with the associate told her I parked in one of the to go spots and she said that I would have to find a parking spot on the street or park behind the building, which did not look safe for my vehicle. Luckily after walking out the front door after deciding I would go somewhere else there was someone leaving from the bar so me and my daughter and my granddaughter park the now empty spot. Walk back in and order our food. the food is acceptable to the same standards of other pho restaurants that I've been to before nothing really exciting here. the atmosphere was nice and pleasant but got quite busy after we sat down to eat. The service was acceptable as we were tended to as needed for refills of our drinks. Sauces for our food and utensils. Overall, if you're into this kind of thing for these type of places, the first thing you'll have to deal with at this place is parking. I can't believe a place like this exists in this neighborhood. It's incredible food, service and atmosphere. The dumplings taste like legit street food from China, I'm not sure if it's the oil they use or the filling but the dumplings are excellent. The cucumber salad and zucchini salad are both pickled and tastes exactly like you think they would. Both are great complements to the dumplings. Ample parking. Worth it to stay to eat instead of take out if you have the time. The interior design is relaxing and beautiful. I'm pretty sure the owner is on site and the menu is explained well for newbies. The dumplings were authentic tasting and the noodle soup was good. The beef noodle soup honestly looks spicier than it really is and could have packed more of a punch in terms of overall flavor. Overall, if you're someone who isn't picky about their Asian Cuisine, then I think you'd enjoy this location. I did a search on Yelp, found Hello Dumpling, craved dumplings, and immediately drove over here. The parking lot was busy for roughly 2 pm. I found a spot and backed into it. I then walked over to the place. There was a lineup at the counter with roughly five people. The way it works is you order at the front, take a number on a little silver pole mount, and find a spot in the eatery. You can also buy Hello Dumpling swag, such as a t-shirt, if you want to. Even though it was my first time here, I felt at ease with all the menu items. I got chicken dumplings with mushrooms, pork dumplings with napa cabbage, beef chuan'r skewers, and unsweetened jasmine tea with peach pearls. I got my number and headed over to a table. The tables and chairs are modern and surprisingly comfortable. Then again, after being on my feet for three hours, I'm thinking sitting on a concrete floor is equally as comfortable... haha! With dumplings, you have the choice of getting them pan-fried or steamed. I went with the former. The dumplings came first. Can I down sixteen dumplings? Does the Earth rotate? Of course, I can. The dumplings were amazing. The chicken dumplings were so flavourful and jammed with filling. I love mushrooms. I also went with the traditional pork dumplings with cabbage. Same thing -- lots of filling, bursting with flavour. They were authentic and downright yummy. I had the beef skewers. They had a bit of a kick, which was nice. The beef morsels were tender. I didn't have any problems getting them off the skewers with my fork. Yum! I ate everything and didn't feel like I needed to call an Uber to my rental car fifty feet away. Can I tell you how delicious the iced jasmine tea is here? A decade ago, I had the best iced jasmine tea at a restaurant in uptown Dallas that is no longer there. It's almost like that place was resurrected from the dead and is now at Hello Dumpling. It is steeped to perfection and is so flavourful. The peach pearls surprised me. They burst in your mouth and the peach flavour just made me incredibly happy. I loved the iced jasmine tea so much that I ordered another one to go, but with mango pearls. Did I feel the same way about the pearls bursting in flavour, but in mango form? Did I love how fragrant and perfect the jasmine tea was? Yes to everything! There are washrooms that are clean. You just find a free one without any gender distinction. I had a great time talking to the woman who helped me with both my orders and the owner. They were so nice. Everyone working at this restaurant was nice. The owner wanted to represent her Chinese heritage the right way and steered away from horrible PF Chang fare, which made me laugh. I let her know that her food was delicious and authentic. She appreciated it, especially after she found out that I was a tourist from the Toronto area. She gave me suggestions on places to visit and places to eat. It was so kind of her. I walked out happy to have found this gem of a place. Went here with some friends one weekday night and the parking situation is pretty limited, I ended up parking across the street and walking over. All 3 of us got a few different variations of each thing so we could all try some. Your order at the front first then they bring it to your table. I tried the Pork with Napa Cabbage Dumplings $9.50 pan fried $0.50 upcharge, Chicken with Mushroom Dumplings $9.50 pan fried $0.50 upcharge, Beef with Carrots and Onions Dumplings $10.00 pan fried $0.50 upcharge, Shrimp with Zucchini $10.00 pan fried $0.50 upcharge. I believe each order was 8 pieces but could be wrong on that. They were all okay, couldn't really distinguish them from each other very well but the Shrimp were the best. For the Rice Dumplings we tried Chicken $9.50, Pork $9.50 and Beef $10.00. I actually kind of liked these more than their regular dumplings. I thought the Chicken one had more flavor and the Beef was better than the Pork. I also got the Shanghai Noodle $7.50 which you could tell had quality noodles but by itself was lacking flavor. First time coming in here and got the Braised Beef Noodle soup and dumplings with a mango tea, it was omg super delicious, not spicy im enough for my liking but super good. Added a little of hot oil and it was amazing the dumplings were super yummy, the braised beef was so tender and super delicious the flavor was amazing. The service was great super friendly and helpful. So my wife and I actually discovered this place about a year ago, and remembered that the dumplings were so freaking delicious, that whenever we would come back to Dallas, we had to try again. I'm not kidding, I'm pretty sure my wife wanted us to come back to Dalals a couple of weeks ago just to have Hello Dumpling again. We came back here around late September of this year. We ordered some noodles and pork dumplings for takeout so we could eat them at a picnic near the lake. The dumplings are just too delicious and savory, especially with the sauce provided. I came at the closing hours on Sunday and did not have to wait to place my order. The menu is easy to ready and the cashier was informative. They cannot do half and half boiled and steamed which was a little disappointing because I wanted to try them both, so I opted for just boiled this time around. I will say that I've had better dumplings at mom and pop hole in the wall Chinese restaurants and there was no distinct taste that made me go wow I want to return. They do have two other dipping sauces besides just soy sauce which are a mild and a spicy pepper sauce . The dumplings were however fresh and nicely made.
