Really made an improvement from the last time I remember going there - was quite full for a quiet evening. Food was not my fav to be honest but I would go again and try a different meal

8/10 Rating: Udon Noodle (only because I'm more of a rice and flat noodle person)
    Lawrence C.

Being the only restaurant in the plaza, Howard Wang's seems like a hidden secret unless someone told you about it - and that would be a mistake. After a family dinner last Sunday, I can tell you - it's a secret worth discovering. As we settled in, the dining room felt clean, warm and relaxed, with soft lighting. Tables were spaced generously, allowing for comfortable conversation and a sense of privacy. Our server greeted us with a warm smile and offered helpful recommendations. He checked in periodically to ensure we were enjoying our meal, without ever feeling rushed. With our appetites stimulated, it was time to explore the menu. We decided to go all-in and ordered a selection of dishes: 1) (9/10) Sweet & Sour Soup for starters to warm up the tummy before a feast 2) (10/10) Mongolian Beef with generous amounts of green onions and quality you can taste. The beef tasted like actual beef, a welcome change from the rubbery, starch-laden versions found at many other Chinese restaurants 3) (10/10) Hot Garlic Sauce w/ Chicken (Spicy) has a symphony of bold flavors. Sweet, savory, and with a satisfying fiery heat that kept us reaching for more. For those who like a kick, request to make it spicy! 4) (9/10) Mandarin Walnut Shrimp is one of my favorites that is complemented well with white rice to balance sweet and savory. The shrimp has the right amount of crisp and softness on the inside. 5) (9/10) Chow Fun Flat Noodle was a delicious surprise, resembling Pad See Ew but with a distinctly Chinese flavor profile. The wide noodles were perfectly soft, clinging to a flavorful sauce, with tender, fresh chicken. It was a generous portion, and the leftovers were just as good the next day. 6) (8/10) General Tsao's Chicken is like a traditional orange chicken but with more meat-to-fat ratio. It feels like biting down real meat rather than just batter. 7) (8/10) Udon Noodles only because I'm more of a rice and flat noodle person - this was my teenage daughter's favorite. Udon noodle fans, this one's for you! If you enjoy stir-fried noodles, you'll love this dish. We completed the night with their Chocolate Cake & Green Tea Ice Cream. 1) (9/10) Chocolate Cake: If you're a brownie and chocolate person, the cake is a great way to reset your cheat-day. 2) (10/10) Green Tea Ice Cream: I was expecting a grainy-ice texture like most restaurants but was caught by surprise on the unique quality - creamy and freshness. Ice cream is my number one choice of dessert, which is why I'm giving it a 10/10. This was a great choice for family dinner; I am looking forward to having date night here if given the opportunity to escape the kids for a few hours. Howard Wang's is more than just a restaurant; it's a dining experience. We'll be back soon to try the duck and other fan favorites. Highly recommended!!

Haven't been here in quite a while. My honey sesame chicken was absolutely delicious, right out of the walk, piping hot, good egg roll and very soothing wonton soup. Lettuce wrap with chicken also a winner.

    Day after mixed vegetables

Really bad quality. The next day that did a lot of vegetables look like a science experiment. Won't go again. Is there any good Chinese in Dallas?

Happy family (bottom) and schezchuan pork and scallops (top). Both were lunch specials

It's really like 3.5 stars, but i like to round up. We walked in right when they opened at 11. We were quickly seated and asked for our drink order. After adjusting from outside, it seemed that the air conditioning wasn't on or not working. Got kind of warm during this visit. The wait staff was really great when we got there but got worse over time when more people came in. Our 30-minute lunch turned into a 50-minute lunch due to the time it took to get the bill. The food was great! The lunch specials included a crispy small choice of either an eggroll or crab wonton. Then you have a choice of soup. I can't remember all the varieties but we enjoyed the hot and sour. It was fresh and had a nice quality to it. The entrées were really delicious. The scallops and shrimp in the dishes were large and of excellent quality. Veggies were cooked well, and the sauces tasted like they were made in-house. Overall, there is room for improvement, but given that it's so close to my work, I will absolutely be back to try this place again. Maybe when the weather calms down from being so hot in this Texas summer.

The food came out piping hot and super fast, within 5 minutes our table was full of dishes! We were a small party so we only tried some dishes: Shu Mai, Shrimp Har Gow (eh), Chicken Feet, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Soup Dumplings, Fried Shrimp Balls, and Tofu Pudding for dessert. The stars of the show were the siu mai, the Baked BBQ Pork Buns and the Steamed BBQ Pork Buns. The siu mai was packed with fillings and it was so good, might be the best one I've ever had. The Baked buns were good but the buns might be a little too heavy. However, the steamed buns were so airy, light, and fluffy. I've never seen a bun that fluffy, it was like touching a cloud. It was still good when we reheated it at home, too! My boyfriend also loved the chicken feet, it was packed with flavor and very juicy. On the other hand, the soup dumplings were okay they didn't have any soup in them. The shrimp har gow wrapper was really thick, making it not as good. The tofu pudding was delicious. It's silken tofu with sweet ginger syrup, usually served with chewy balls but they didn't have that here. It was served hot and it was my childhood so I had to get it :) It looked like a lot of food but the bill came out to be around $50+, which wasn't bad given that we had a lot of leftovers for the day. I would definitely come back here!

My Overall Rating - 2 Stars Atmosphere - Tucked into a shopping strip in Garland (the old Arc-en-ciel for your OG's), Garden is an open, spacious Dim Sum restaurant. On my Sunday lunch, there was no wait, but the restaurant was pretty full. However, for a Dim Sum restaurant, there were not many carts out (more on this below). 1/2 Star. Service - Many Dim Sum restaurants don't have carts, and instead you order from a menu. Garden has both. There are a few servers pushing carts with the most popular items. If you don't see it, you can simply order from the menu. This is totally fine, but on my Sunday visit, they were busy and finding someone to order from the menu became increasingly frustrating. 1/2 Star. Food - There is a reason they were not packed. Simply put, Garden's offerings were average at best. Their pork buns were more bun than pork, and even the bun lacked the subtle sweet, soft shell. We ordered what we thought were Pork Xu Mai, but it ended up being shrimp. That's when we decided to order from the menu, but if you read above even that was a challenge. 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Only if I get overruled. Occasionally, my family members will prioritize time and convenience over quality. If that happens, I'll end up eating at Garden Restaurant. Garden is by no means bad, there are just other options with better food and service. 1/2 Star.

Our waiter was very welcoming and friendly and gave us some great recommendations since it was our first time dining there. We tried the following dishes: Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), Gong Bao Pork, and Stir-Fried La Mian with Vegetables. My favorite dishes were the beef dish and the soup dumplings. This visit, we hosted family from East Texas who'd been here once before. Starting with delicious Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings and Bucks Spare Ribs, we moved on to Ants Climbing Trees (Ma Yi Shang Shu), a classic Sichuan dish of vermicelli cooked with minced pork, in fermented chili sauce, with garlic and green onions, Salt and Pepper Shrimp, crispy bite-size shrimp tossed with green onion, basil, garlic, and jalapeño, and Sichuan Green Beans, stir-fried with garlic, mushrooms, and minced pork. We opted for one order of white rice and one of fried rice with our entrées. The restaurant is almost always packed if you don't have a reservation, but the vibe is relaxed and casual without being loud. In fact, it's so popular, you may have to wait a bit even with a reservation, since they want you to enjoy your meal vs rushing you out to "turn the table."
