The best bah mi ever! It's better than the popular chains around Chinatown! I haven't tried their pho yet but it's been on some online list that it is also one of the better places to get pho. But I love their $13-17 bah mi. The bread is so crunchy and fresh I wish they advertise their bah mi a little more. Man this might be some of the best Vietnamese food I have had in a good while, especially considering the price. Located near Chinatown in nyc, this little shop has plenty of seating and absolutely makes a delicious meal. Part of me wants to gatekeep this place. Very affordable and probably one of the best value meals one can enjoy. Like many of the mom and pop shops in Chinatown it won't appeal to many of the New Yorkers who prefer a fine dining experience, but the food is definitely fine dining quality. I ordered the chicken vermicelli noodles and the spring rolls and it was so tasty. The staff brought out the spring rolls piping hot within 10 mins and it was delicious. The vermicelli noodles came out a bit later and were also delicious. There was so much quantity we were stuffed by the end of the meal. The staff was kind and quick with our meals. I've been coming here with my family since I was a child. Brings back a lot of good memories. Had a gap where I didn't come here as an adult because of Covid, life, career stuff etc. Came back over the weekend and was very pleased. The pho is still really great, traditional authentic pho. I appreciate them having two sizes to choose from regular and a large bowl. Love how they kept the restaurant the same traditional look and feel during their renovation. Pho bang is a popular Vietnamese restaurant located right on the outskirts of Little Italy. It's a little bit extra of a walk for me, but I'll always go anyway (even in 10 degree weather !) because I find them to be the best in the neighborhood. I can see over the years how inflation has created a pricier menu item, but the quality has not changed. The portion has remained the same and it's still my favorite place to go. I did try to call in advance to pick up my soup and apparently they do not like that. Maybe we had some miscommunication but ok? In 5 years the only thing I get is the Pho in its varieties. It's comforting, it hits with so many nutrients. Pho bang is always crowded even at 11 am on a weekday. They will even make people share tables if you want to sit and eat there ya go figure it out. Racism. I go here very often and sit in to eat. Today I watched this restaurant turn down 3-4 young black girls. When one entered to ask if they could sit there and eat, the employee of the restaurant told them "Sorry no walk-ins." The girls walked outside clearly very confused and very sad. They told one of their friends who was catching up to meet them and the friend asked "How could they not have walk-ins?" They were very confused why they weren't allowed to sit inside and eat on this very cold day. I didn't have the heart to tell them that eating inside is allowed always but they were turned down due to racism. After witnessing this I will no longer be returning to this restaurant. Pho Bang has old school interior, but the staff are nice. They speak English, Cantonese, and Vietnamese which is very impressive. My husband wanted the beef salad and I got their Vietnamese coffee. It took around 15 minutes to prepare and then I paid in cash. The beef salad was a huge portion and the fish sauce dressing was soooo addictive. They have two fish sauce dressings. The coffee is really good and super strong! Definitely a good coffee to start the day or a pick me up during the day but you just might not sleep that night! For over 18 years I have come here for my cà phê suã dá (strong coffee black, condensed milk, over ice), or cà phê suã nóng (hot version). Best I've found in this city. Despite my pronouncing it wrong every time, they are always patient, nice and offer water on hot days. I rarely get to eat the delicious pho, but when I do I always enjoy it.
