First off Before I explain our specific experience with Helzberg I'm going to say if you've avoided this location because of the negative reviews I would encourage you to visit anyway, it's my understanding that they are under new management and from what I can tell it makes a whole world of a difference. Our experience from start to finish was beyond even our highest expectations for a jewelry store.
We spent over a month working with Luis, the manager, at this Helzberg location on creating an engagement ring. From the moment we came in he was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and not even the slightest bit pushy in any way (which was new after visiting several other jewelry stores in our quest for the perfect ring). We started by browsing options two on one (my soon to be fiancé, Luis, and I) in the back of the store. We decided to wait a week or two for their traveling jewelry showcase to come in so we could see some more options of unset settings. He came, after at least two hours of me being picky and going back and forth we picked one. Then we picked out the center stone and waited for it to be shipped to the store. It came in, earlier than expected even, but was not ideal so Luis sent out for another stone. The second one came quickly and was perfect. When we went in to view the second stone I spent about one and a half to two hours debating on whether this combination, the setting and stone, were right for me and the entire time Luis was nothing but patient and kind. I kid you not it was like a friend who had your best interests in mind, he said several times it was about whether or not I was happy with it, and I felt no pressure to decide or rush. We ended up having it set and picking it up a week or two later. We got it home and my soon to be fiancé and I had agreed I should wear it for a week before the 30 day return policy was up just in case I didn't love it (especially because we went with a style completely different from the one I originally fell in love with from another store). I wore it for less than an hour before I realized I all but hated it :( the setting and stone were both beautiful but was just too prominent, it was too tall on my finger and seemed to get caught on everything. My soon to be fiancé returned it a couple days later and there was no problem or issue at all, he said Luis wasn't disappointed or grumpy because all the work we did together was for nothing, he just wanted us to be happy with what we got.
This experience was so refreshing, there are so many preconceived notions when you visit a jewelry store, like they'll be pushy or try to gouge you or only have a commission in mind, and because of the quality of the management in this store our experience, and hopefully anyone who ignores the past reviews and gives the store a chance, has been nothing but pleasant. read more
