I'm a regular here but the staff never seems to notice. I live in the neighborhood and stop in on the average once a week. The service is always a crap shoot. It's been great and it's been poor. Today was exceptionally poor. I came in for a smash burger and a drink. Sat at the bar. Bartender came right away, and since I already knew what I wanted, I gave my drink and food order right then. He made my drink (greyhound) right away. Problem is, the fresh squeezed grapefruit went from the press directly into the glass. Usually they have a jug already squeezed with which they mix the drinks. Well, my drink had a bunch of black bits floating around in it. I had to flag someone down to tell them. That bartender (a gal) promptly made another for me. All good. Food came, I had to ask for utensils and a napkin. All the while the male bartender was joking with the other ladies at the bar. Long story shorter, he never approached me after the drink problem, I had to flag him down to get the service that should have been standard at the minimum. Usually when I come here, I get food, a couple drinks, and enjoy some conversation at the bar. Not so today. Here for over an hour and service was not great. Today I only ate, had one drink and left. The service there tonight was beyond not good. Walked in at 3:30 nobody even acknowledged us for 15 minutes had to ask for our waiter. Did not get his name but there was only two males there one was a waiter and one was just wiping tables. Took over an hour to get our food to tell you the truth I think he forgot to put it in when he saw us looking around he came to our table and said I'm not for sure why it's taking so long. I don't even know where to start. Let's start by saying that it was probably the most lackluster dining experience I've had to kick off my summer. I gave it one star for the name recognition. This location should be ashamed of the way they treat their patrons and the garbage they try to disguise as food. My husband and I met in Seal Beach this morning for breakfast. Since I'm unfamiliar with the area, I didn't know which way to walk. My husband spotted a sign that said "Serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner" and saw all the people in the patio area. We figured it should be decent at least. Not. We sat for what felt like forever before anyone even acknowledged that we were there. Our server brought us coffee and didn't return for another 10-12 minutes, but I see servers hurrying around for the other patrons (the more pigment challenged kind). I swear I didn't want to be an angry black woman today. But there I was sitting and observing everything and everyone around me. So our cute little waitress finally made her way back to our table to take our order. I ordered the Highlander and the man got some kind of breakfast burrito. I was MAD after the first bite. Lukewarm potatoes covered with scrambled eggs and cheese, lathered with some disgusting jarred salsa, strips of ham, maybe 4 pieces of ripped up bacon and 1/2 of a smoked sausage. If you describe it, it should taste as good as it sounds, but don't kid yourself. You'll feel like you got ripped off. I boxed it and let my son eat it so not to let it go to waste. He eats anything! I understand that this is a bar and my expectations for a gourmet meal are in no way achievable by this establishment. It's a no from me. My husband and I went in on a Thursday afternoon around 4pm, there were 3 tables with a few people and 5 at the bar. Service was extremely slow, they didn't even look our way for the first 5-10 minutes even though we were at the bar! We finally got service and ordered garlic bread as an appetizer. We waited 25 minutes for the app to come out. I finally told them like hey, we're talking about bread here, it shouldn't take 25 minutes...miraculously, the bread came out immediately after I complained. It was a crazy busy Sunday on main. Everyone was out. Parking was a nightmare. This was not Hennessey Tavern's fault. But here is what we experienced. There was a couple that walked in right before us, yet they were there only to say high to a waitress. I had to wait the 5 min for them to chat, then she walked away. A different host showed up and greeted us and sat us outside. We waited another 5 min before anyone asked if we wanted drinks. We then placed our order about 10 mins later. So this is 20 mins since I walked in the door. Food came out of the kitchen in a reasonable time, and it was very good. The BBQ brisket was lean flavorful and not scoping with sauce. You could really taste the brisket. The kettle chips, were okay just slightly greasy, could use some dipping sauce. The HT Cobb salad was in the order of exceptional. Fresh egg, fresh blue cheese, bacon crisped just right. Overall it was a mixed bag of high and lows. First time visit for us. Definitely not a place to avoid, but not a destination place as we live in Whittier. read more

Walking down Main st. and saw Hennessey's Tavern. Had a line for seating, but moved quickly. We sat inside at a corner table and our waitress was very fast and efficient. Loved how we could still people watch from our table. With Covid, it was nice to have some normalcy and see people out and about on the beach and downtown area. Poke was delicious! Before you read my review, you should know this about me: 1. I'm a southern Californian born in Taiwan. 2. I've lived in north Orange County most of my life minus the four years I spent in UT for college. 3. I love to it (and it shows!) and refuse to eat anything I don't think taste good. REFUSE. 4. I don't mind spending money to eat well. 5. My parents owned two sandwich shops while I was growing up. I worked there as a kid, though college and beyond, so I'm a big fan of moms and pop shops. If you need a snapshot: Service- 3/5 Food Quality - 4/5 Selection - 3.5/5 Pricing - 2/5 Parking (ease, available) - 2/5 Ambiance - 4.5/5 We were looking for a place to sit down and eat by Seal Beach. We walked the two sides of Main Street and decided on this place because it had the most available seating at the time (Friday night, 6 PM) and the people who were sitting there looked nice enough. What we liked about this place: 1. Taste of food - we got the Irish Nachos, Shepard's Pie, French onion soup and Lad's Steak and Shrimp. Everything TASTED GREAT but there were some issues I'll mention later. 2. Parking - it's at the end of the popular strip, which means it has better access to street parking. One of the things I like most about this Main Street is that parking is free. It is 2 hours only and you can't just re-park into your space after 2 hours (has to be 150 ft away - Seal Beach city ordinance), so you can't park here, eat and go to the beach or anything like that, but for dinner or lunch, it's plenty of time. 3. Atmosphere - in the evening, the blacktop doesn't bother me. I can imagine during lunch time, that would be way too hot. Maybe they'll put down some artificial turf in the future (let's see how much longer this pandemic holds out). But it was breezy and easy. We had a great time mingling with the other diners while keeping distance. That was actually probably the best part of our dining experience. Why I probably won't come back soon: 4. Severely under-staffed - this isn't anyone's fault. I'd like to revisit this issue after things go back to "normal," if that is at all possible. When we arrived, there was no one to be found to seat us. We had to walk around to see if we can find anyone. Once we sat down, our very friendly waiter, was quick to give us our menus, etc. I don't know what's going on with the guy who gave us our food - he seemed a little snarky with absolutely no good reason (I'm as nice as pie) and I was a little taken back by his attitude. They never got a refill on our tiny cups of water, through they did check to see if we liked our food. Without the snarky attitude and if they had just refilled our water just ONCE, I would have been more than happy to give then a 4/5 on service. Oh, and we sat with empty plates for at least 10 minutes before they cleared it and gave us our check. They did take our money very quickly, though. ;) 5. Quantity vs Price - I get it...we're at a beach city, things are going to be a little pricey. So how about no false advertisement? On the menu for my husband's dish, Lad's Steak and Shrimp, it said that the meats were laid on a "mountain of garlic mashed potatoes and spinach." If that was a mountain, I don't want to know what a mole hill looks like! The steak was a good size, but two shrimps? So sad for my very hungry husband. And for $20, we were just expecting at least a bit of more mashed potatoes. I'd like to try this place again under different circumstances. The Shepard's pie and Irish nachos were both excellent. The food really did TASTE really good. I'm just not happy about too many things to try this place before I hit the other restaurants in the area. read more

I was in town for a conference and this was my first stop shortly after getting to Anaheim. Best place I visited the whole week and wish I would have made it a point to go back. I could have made it a daily trip and know I wouldn't have been disappointed! The atmosphere was amazing, everyone was having a great time... smiles and laughter throughout the place! I visited several places and this was the spot to be. The food was amazing (best I had the whole week) and am grateful Kevin (our server/bartender) recommended it. Good service is hard to find... I am in the customer service field, and I was beyond impressed with Kevin. It was a busy night and he never missed an opportunity to make sure our table was taken care of, having an amazing time, and satisfied with our experience. 10 stars deserved! This place is on Main Street and local so came in for a quick drink and bite. We had been seated promptly and got our drink order and then food order. We had non spicy bloody Mary's. When asked for one more Bloody Mary it was super spicy.. so decided to just give it back and ask for a beer. Its my second time here. I went here with my girls a few years back with my daughter's. This time with my partner. They have this buy one get one Turkey dinner on Sundays which is cool. It starts at 530pm. They have drinks that are half priced, it's sort of their happy hour. $5 for their vodka lemonades and I like them. I had the raspberry and lemon flavor. Our server was very attentive and waited on us well. But I like Asst. Manager Gavin. He literally goes to every table and checks on the guests. That is real customer service. Such a great place! This is the first place we've been able to go since the quarantine. On Saturday May 23rd we found out they were open for dine in. We ended up waiting about 45 mins since they're at about a 50% capacity. The Dublin burger I got was amazing. The Cobb salad my boyfriend got was great too. It was a pretty good size. I did enjoy the $5 bloody mary. They have $5 bloody Mary's Saturday and Sunday till 5pm. I would definitely come back again for their burgers and highly recommend this place. read more
