Certified vehicles car on the used car lot go through a strenuous inspection. 5. Hertz Protection & Kia Warranty- One of the big reasons I decided to buy a used Kia is because of the warranty. The Kia service team in Waipahu is amazing. All the service members I came in contact with were great with communication and took their time to explain why things needed to be done to my car. I moved to the mainland and I recently used the warranty at another Kia dealership. 6. Much quicker than buying a car from other dealerships. Patty T. helped us with our transaction, but the other men there sounded pleasant and courteous, too. After researching, test driving and searching for a specific type of car, it arrived on lot. Beware. Extremely unprofessional and completely dishonest. Before buying a car we were told the registration and safety would be updated by them. They even charged us a $450 "documentation fee" to do so. After purchasing the vehicle, I was instructed to drive across the island to come back to their office on multiple occasions to facilitate updating the safety and registration; however, every time I showed up, they had no idea why I was there which forced me to explain why they told me to come back. I was specifically told to come back the day after the safety expired so they could renew it but when I showed up they told me that I should have came back before it expired. After many useless visits I was finally able to update the registration and was told to come back once I had the updated registration in hand so they could update the safety only to be told they couldn't update the safety because the vehicle was now in my name. After attempting to gaslight me in their office and tell me that they would never tell a customer to come back to update their safety, they finally agreed to update the safety for me. They told me they needed my insurance card to update the safety and I offered to email it to them but they said they needed the physical card and couldn't help me. Meanwhile, the ladies in the back of the office were whispering and giggling to each other at the situation. They didn't even offer to pay for me having to update the safety myself. I totalled my car and needed to get in something else quickly. My dad suggested buying a rental car and Hertz was the closest place on island. My sales guy Bryan Okuno was excellent. He's very nice and super helpful with explaining the rent2buy program they offer. You go online and pick a rental car, reserve it and it comes to the lot. You then rent it for 3 days and then purchase. The only downside to this is since it's not on the lot you cant see if it has any issues until it arrives. (They have plenty options on the lot though) Hertz should improve this part by posting actual pictures of the car and not stock. Make sure you get the car inspected while you are in the rental period!!!!The sales manager was also helpful along with Jeff in financing. I got a 2017 Mazda3 and I'm happy with my purchase! I FINALLY had the opportunity to purchase another car from Hertz Car Sales! Our sales guy Gary is now a manager (yay!) so we worked with Mike Donnelly. He was awesome! A couple friends purchased cars here in 2018, I told them we bought three cars over the years here and highly recommend the team here. They're all very happy! I picked up my 2018 Mazda CX-5 Touring AWD in November of 2018. It was 8 months old with 10K miles. I did the Rent2Buy where the car is pulled from the active fleet, vs. being on the lot, so I had to wait for the car to come in. Rent2Buy is usually newer, which I wanted. I checked out several over a few weeks and settled on the one I bought. It has scratches on the back bumper (normal for any rental car) but otherwise like new. I saved $5K+ over a new one and could not be happier. It's SO EASY to purchase a car here! I hate going to "regular" dealerships. There's no negotiating here, all prices are set so it's stress free. Prices are almost always cheaper than anywhere else so it's never an issue. I highly recommend here, you are free to take the car to a mechanic as well. These are all used cars so you should treat them as such - look it over, listen for any weird sounds, check the tires, ask what factory warranty remains (if any) and test drive it for longer than a few minutes. Go see Mike, he's soooo easy going and put up with my pickiness. I was spending a good chunk of change since the car was only 8 months old and he was really patient. I love my new car and will absolutely purchase from here again. Like most of us here in Hawaii, it ain't easy to make ends meet so saving $ where you can is important. This is the second time my husband and I had come to get a car here at Hertz. The first time was in 2018 and we are back a year and a half lataer to get our second car. We initially texted Gary Yu who was our original sales representative, but he has since been promoted and we were helped by Max. Max was awesome. The first time I came, I came by myself on Saturday 03/14/20 to test drive the cars. I got to test drive the Nissan Murano and Chevy Equinox. At that point I knew what I wanted. I came the next day with my husband (he had work the day prior) on 03/15/20 and we were able to go home with a Murano! The process was seamless. Gary had greeted us promptly at 10am and although he wasn't our sales rep he checked in periodically to make sure everything was OK. Before choosing the Murano, Max was nice enough to let us test drive 3-4 other SUV's before making a decision. We were just so set on the Murano (my husband needed convincing). Once we made our decision, the Murano originally brought out had a bad battery, but luckily Gary and Max did some looking and found us another Murano. It wasn't technically for sale yet, but they were able to help us get it processed and we took it home that same day. All our paperwork, test driving, and whatnot took about 3 hours. We left at 1PM that day with a new car. Not bad! We got a 2018 Murano in a nice metallic blue (rare color to see on their lot). (FYI, it would have been a shorter process, but we were so dead set on a Murano so we waited for them to look for one that was possibly available. We waited as they checked their computers and ran around the lot looking for what we wanted) Uncle Clayton helped us with the financial paperwork! He was not only honest, but sarcastically humorous! We got the payment we wanted for our Murano and the payment paperwork took about 20-30 minutes to complete, not bad! When everything was completed, the paperwork was good to go and we left we our new car. Definitely recommend seeing Max! He absolutely did not pressure us to buy and gave us suggestions and honest opinions of what he recommended. He was also patient with us as we test drove a few cars. Car was sold to me with bald front tires and sort of a wobbling sound. I had to replace the front two ($148). I thought replacing the tires would get rid of the wobbling sound. I ended up replacing the back tires because the a wobbling sound was still there($~175 different shop). Wobbling sound is still still there. Within 2-3 weeks, back brake pads we're already grinding metal to metal against the rotor(at least that was replaced by Hertz; pads only). I also already had replace the front brake pads my self as they were sold to me at about 2-3mm pad left ($50). Now as I am trying to do an alignment to my car, the auto service station tells me that I have to replace the front right wheel bearing ($~435)Figured that was what that wobbling sound. I walk into Hertz and talk to the manager and he says wheel bearing isn't covered? What??? I only had the car for 1 month (driven 3,000 miles.) What do I do? He said he'll ma some calls and get back to me. The Car is still under warranty. So far my experience with Hertz has been negative. The inconvenience of these things happening and just the idea of them having the ability to sell cars at their condition. Brake pads and rotors I can deal with. But having the car for only a month, and I already have to change out a wheel bearing? That's ridiculous (and obviously very costly). If they're able to work something out, great. But if not, right now, I'm looking at a $435 bill on top of all the work I've already done due to the fault of Hertz for selling the car in it's current condition. As of 5-16 this issue will be resolved. -1 star for the inconveniences of everything. read more

Safety check was expired in April 2024 and registration expired in May 2024 and I got the car from them in the beginning June. How can you guys sell cars with expired stickers? Called them 1 week after I got the car to check up on the registration papers and they said it'll take up to 6 weeks to get in the mail. Smh. Called again and it's 7/5/24 and they said that my registration is still in process. Smh. Does it take that long? They are giving me the run arounds and it's getting annoyed. I'm so close to going to the office and give them a piece of my mind. SMH. Please do better!!!! I already did my safety but they failed me because I don't have the permanent registration. Hertz Car Sales is by far the best experience in car sales that I have ever experienced. (And I've spent mass amounts of time visiting craiglist posters, as well as spent all day going to dealers and used car dealers.) They are not pushy at all and they approach you just to ask if you need help, and to give you a price listing of all their cars. Don't get my wrong though, they'll give you all the help you need in picking out your car IF you need it, but if you don't need any, they leave you be. The prices are set, so they don't try to trick you in any way into a higher price, and they're very laid back because they don't HAVE TO push the sale and high prices on you since their set. The prices are usually very reasonable (and sometimes the best around!) and if you watch the pricing for a few months, you know what a "good price" is versus what a "high" price is for the particular car you're looking for. The only reasons the prices may fluctuate is because they go according to mainland pricing, so it changes according to whatever the mainland Hertz pricing is. I bought my 2009 Toyota Camry in July 2010 when it was at a VERY good price. I got mine for $13,999 with 25,000 miles. I've only seen it that low once after that since then. They repainted my bumpers (and got rid of all the suitcase scratches and stuff) and washed and polished my car before I picked it up. It was in PRISTINE condition. They also filled up my gas tank. I really enjoyed my experience at Hertz. The salesperson I worked with was Gary Yu, and I continue to visit the Hertz lot just to check out what they have (and he actually remembered my and my name even months and months after my purchase.) Hertz also maintains their cars and does routine oil changes and makes sure everything for the car is up to date, which is good. You know the engine is good since they do the oil changes, and you won't have to pay extra to update expired tags or something. ALSO. If you think going to Servco or an "actual car lot" is better, it's not. The dealers buy the cars from Hertz Car Sales (probably for the VERY good prices), repaint them, and mark them up like $5,000 and sell them on their own lot. You could just come to Hertz Car Sales for the exact same thing that you get from Servco. I REALLY like Hertz Car Sales. I highly recommend them. read more

I got a great deal on my 2015 Nissan Sentra- a good, dependable car. I like that the cars are all only 2 to 3 years old, many have less than 30k miles (definitely less than 40k) and have been dependably maintained by the rental companies. They have a good selection in many classes of car, but if you're looking for a particular model and need it immediately, you may be out of luck. If you're not in a rush, check the website to see what's at the time it's different all the time and you'll probably see something that would fit. Michael Donnelly was helpful, knowledgeable and low pressure. He even trusted my son and I to take the car out for a test drive ourselves. Positive story, we had selected a car and they were preparing it. Michael came back and said that the mechanic said that the handle was loose and we could take it home that day, but we would have to come back once the part came in. However, they had another red Sentra that had a little less mileage even and we could have that one instead for the same price. I appreciate them still striving even after they had made the sale. The whole process was painless. I'm not sure how long it usually takes, but it did seemed like we were there for a while (we didn't need financing help and the insurance was fast). I think tho that they were giving the car one last clean and looking for floor mats and what not. read more

My old truck was dying so we decided to go check out the used rental lot on a recommendation from a friend. When we arrived we were a bit confused as to what cars were for sale and what ones were being shipped out or already sold. The selection was understandably small since the pandemic, but since the fleets need to be sold off and reduced in size we were hoping they might have more. The staff seemed almost irritated to help us or answer any questions so we showed ourselves around. We found a few that we liked but after tracking people down and extracting answers we decided that the prices were more than we were expecting and the service was probably an indication of what we were buying so we left and spent 6000 more at the dealership for a new version of the model we were looking at. read more

After searching for cars at dealerships and getting overwhelmed and overcharged we were thankful for our friends recommendation to check out the Hertz rent to buy program. I found a Nissan minivan online and scheduled my rental. Bryan, Jeff and Gary were awesome! I was able to look the car over before deciding to rent it. I scheduled a 100 point inspection at the New City Nissan for the date I was scheduled to rent the minivan which cost $133 after my 15% Costco discount. They replaced the battery for free since the van was still under a 3 yr / 36k mile warranty. We also learned that we needed to replace the break pads soon and a couple filters. Bryan and Gary followed through on fixing the USB port and finding the extra fob. It ended up having water damage but they are helping us find a affordable place to replace it (in process of doing this now). We loved getting to take the minivan home and using it for a couple days to be sure it was a perfect fit for our family. They refund you the entire rental amount if you buy the car but it took about 2 weeks for the pending charges to be removed from our credit card. You do not need to rent it for the entire 3 days. The whole process was way way less stressful compared to a traditional car dealership. The mainland Hertz office also contacted me before and during the rental to see if I needed any assistance. We got our car below Kelly Blue Book and did not have to haggle. We got pre-approved with a low interest rate loan through our credit union which a made the process a little challenging for Jeff but it all worked out in the end. Gary assured me that if I go to DMV with the VIN number for the car, they will print out the registration.*** This started off as a 5-Star experience, three months later (with exception of the first month).. no registration has been mailed to me. I got the car on 5/22/17, financing was finalized a few days before the June ended. I already made my first car payment and today is 8/16/17, and no registration has been mailed to me. Also, I went to three different safety check inspectors thinking that within those months I would get my registration to get a current safety check. My safety check expired on 6/1/17, so I am driving a car with no current safety check for almost three months! After my third fail safety check, Gary Yu, the person I got my car from said to give him the new fail safety to speed up getting my registration. He told me this on 8/2/17 and I gave him my fail safety on 8/2/17... he said it will be fast after this! It is now 8/16/17, exactly two weeks after he said this and where I done my part and I feel like I am in the same position and that nothing is getting done! My trust was high when I first came here, now it is almost non-existent and can no longer recommend anyone coming here to experience what I have gone through. read more

I purchased my 2014 Chevy Spark from Gary Yu back in May. It was hands down the best shopping experience I've ever had. This dealership is unlike any other you will go to. There are no pushy salesmen and no pressure. Gary was so friendly and down to earth. He genuinely wanted to help me find a great car, even at a low price. Jeff in finance did an amazing job too. My credit is average ish, but he was still able to find me a good loan with decent interest rates. I loved my experience so much that I got my aunt and uncle AND my dad to purchase their cars from here shortly after. I think it's safe to say that we are a Hertz family. Purchased our 2013 Sienna from Hertz 3 weeks ago (Hertz certified vehicle, not Rent2Buy.) Gary Yu was our salesperson and his service is EXCEPTIONAL. No pressure, no hassle. I even felt a bit uncomfortable when they said that I could just test the car out all day if I wanted to, but that's just how they sell cars. To make a long story short, we test drove the Hertz Sienna in the morning, then went over to Servco Windward to see a new and 2013 used Sienna. The new one was about $27K, used was $22K (same price as Hertz) and not nearly in as good condition or as clean as the Hertz one (and was also told it was a previous rental car.) So, same day, we drove back to Gary at Hertz and signed off on our new car. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with Hertz. Great service, great cars. We will definitely be back to Gary Yu at Hertz when we need another car and happy to refer anyone in need of a used car. Go check them out. You won't be disappointed. read more

Buyer beware! Bring your mechanic with you. Check all accessories. Check the oil and the fluids. Ask for a new battery, most batteries in those cars are only for 2 years of 48 months. Check the trunk for the spare and the jack and any leaks. No hassle no pressure sales men. But check the inventory. Always remember, you can walk away. read more
