Was first put in a car that stunk of cigarette so much. The manager acknowledged the fact and was not offering to do or change car. The whole time it seemed like they didn't care. When i did get a car change finally and later drove down across states we realized how badly it would shake and vibrate. Seemed like the car was ready to breakdown. This place sucks, we had made reservations for a vehicle, my daughter takes an Uber to pick up her reserved car...she talks to the assistant manger where he proceeds to tell her there are no cars available!!??? WTF? We had reservations yet no cars! What in the hell is this a joke? Now my daughter is stuck in this seedy part of town with no car!!! This location is in an old strip mall and is pretty ghetto. I already had a rental that I booked at a different Hertz, but I was out of state and wanted to add an additional driver. Online it clearly states if you are a AAA member, there is no charge for an additional driver. Well, the blonde female employee was less than helpful and refused to do it. Of course, when I asked if there was a supervisor to speak with, she said there's no one that can help me and they would deny me as well... as she sat there with her lazy self, slumped over with a rude look on her face. I later called my out of state Hertz and they confirmed it should be no charge. The next day we went to a different Hertz and they added the no cost additional driver. I've used Hertz many times over the years, and have never encountered such an unhelpful employee like the one at this location. If you have to rent a vehicle go across the street to Enterprise, it will save you a great deal of stress. I went here because the body shop that was fixing my car after an accident (not my fault) referred me here. I walked in with my mother and my brother and was not greeted when we walked in. It was rather awkward considering the location is very small. When we were finally acknowledged the man at the counter was rude. He went over the additional insurance Hertz offers and I declined. He pushed the insurance and I repeated that I already have insurance and that I've rented from there before and never get the insurance. He went on to tell me what I couldn't do in the car such as party, unless you are in Colorado because marijuana is legal there. I was very confused with his conversation and even more shocked because he was talking about this in front of my mother and teenage brother. Overall the whole experience was very uncomfortable and incredibly unprofessional. I returned the car after hours because I had to leave town for a family emergency, only to return to a $1400 bill that was charged to my account. It's been more than a month now and after dealing to three different Hertz employees they have yet to return my money. This past month has been incredibly stressful trying to make ends meet due to this experience. After a disaster trying to get my Mother a rental car from the Sun City location we ended up at this location. The guy that helped my mom was very friendly and answered all of her questions both when she was picking up the car as well as dropping it off. He even took the time to explain to her how dropping it off at a different location (for example the airport) would work and how they would go about figuring out the cost. The vehicle she got was okay for a rental. I noticed a slight (smoke) smell when I was in it, but you can't fault a location too badly for someone else smoking in a car. They did note down all the scratches on the vehicle like we requested. The level of service from this Glendale location was a night and day difference from Sun City and we would rent from this location again if the need arose. The area around the store is a little run down, but you can't fault the store for that. They seem to do the best they can with what they have. read more

Filthy location . Absolutely no sanitation taking place ,not for you ,not the employees. Filthy floors have not been cleaned in at least 2 weeks . The entrance door probably just as long as you can see layers of finger prints? Tells me they are not sanitizing before next rental. Customer service is 1/10 stars. Jim also rented a car with $1.50 of gas missing and when I tried to return it with the same amount of gas they wanted to charge me $15.00 for it .In my eyes that's a scam. As I write this the Jim is smoking a cigarette in front of my car. Lost my companies business forever. They will tell you that "we just had the car detailed" but they don't even bother to pick up the 3rd row seat to clean. I picked up my rental with the 3rd row down and now I know why. Also the price you walk out with on your rental agreement is never what you get billed once you've dropped off the vehicle. I had reserved the caravan and found out that I could not use my debit card as I've done in the past so I left to get a credit card and when I came back the same guy told me multiple times how right after I left to get my credit card he was flooded with calls to rent my reserved caravan and he "almost cancelled my reservation" because he wasn't sure if I was coming back. He made it obvious that he would rather cancel my reservation "with a great rate through my work" to charges other person mor. In the end I was charged $100 more than what I was "quoted". First time renting from this location and last time I will rent from this company all together. The vans transmission and brakes sounded horrible and you can hear and feel the gear slipping when it's put in reverse. read more

Also the vehicle we got was dirty and broken parts missing off of the vehicle the carpet and seats were dirty!! Will never rent from this location again.. He was a thick guy with glasses didn't get his name... also was trying to force us to get their insurance as if ours want good enough down grading our coverage not knowing that I am an agent!! I booked the car rental online with my AAA membership and flew into Phoenix airport. After I made the booking, I called the number listed to confirm the details, which was a 1-800 number, and they said that the facility would pick me up from the airport and I just needed to call the local # 1 hour before. If they could not pick me up, then they would reimburse the cost of a taxi or Uber. On my scheduled day, I called the local number after arriving in the airport and there was no answer. I called 4 times in the space of a half-hour. I ended up seeing a sign for "car rental" in the airport, I asked the person if it would go to the Hertz rental in Glendale, and he said "yes" which turned out to be incorrect. It took me to a different Hertz. There are actually plenty of Hertz locations around the airport. The agent there looked up the location I gave him on his map of all Hertz locations, and didn't find it. He suggested I call the national number. I called the national number again, was told that yes, I would be picked up by the Glendale Hertz, or that they would reimburse me, but that I needed to keep calling the local Hertz number until someone picked up and they could offer no other help. I asked what to do if no one picked up, because it had been 4-5 times already, and they said to just make my way to the location (which the other Hertz agent wasn't sure was existing) and they would reimburse me. I kept calling the local Hertz until someone picked up, eventually someone did, and was told no, they do not pick up from the airport and there is no reimbursement. I had wasted 30 minutes- 1 hour at this point. The local agent could not explain why multiple national agents said that I would be reimbursed or that they could pick me up from the airport. Is this a ploy so that more business is driven to this Hertz? Why can't they resolve this issue internally? I took a Lyft to the location and picked up the car. I had to come back when I found out the cigarette lighter wasn't working and I needed to charge my GPS, but it turned out there was another connection in a different place. I also noticed trash stuck between 2 of the front seats, some of which I discarded. When I returned the car, I forgot to refill the tank and paid a hefty price as I think it's ~ $10/gallon for not refilling it yourself, but at least I had 3/4 tank left, and I should have remembered. This location is understaffed and the 1 person asked me to wait while he was renting a car to someone else. I did not know that all I had to do was drop off the keys and didn't have to sign any paperwork and waited for 10-15 minutes (and my Uber) just to hand him the keys. Had he told me this I would have given him the keys right away and been on my way. It ended up costing me $50 more than I had expected for the lyft/uber in both directions and plenty of time, due to the false information I was given, plus delays at the center and delays in answering the phone. Next time I will be sure to check reviews here and confirm such information before booking a car rental, but I had not booked one in 10 years and of course was not expecting to be fed false information which was confirmed by multiple different persons. read more

Where do I start ? I booked online to avoid any last minute hassle. Well, when I showed up at this location I was told by the assistant manager there were no cars and hasn't been for weeks, and I needed to drive all the way to sky harbor were all the cars are . I called customer service to let them know this was ridiculous and they were going to have to compensate me or cancel my reservation all together . I spoke with 7 different reps who kept transferring me to departments that were already closed so the call kept dropping. Finally I reached some A hole in corporate that told me he can help me get my vehicle but I needed to go to sky harbor and it would be an additional 250$ because the airport had its own fees !! CANCEL CANCEL CANCEL!! It will take 6 days to get my money back . I will never ever give my money to this company . I ended up going to enterprise. read more

If you live here in Phoenix and need to rent a car to drive to, say, California, to get out of Phoenix, it's not as easy and you would think to find an off-airport car rental. Or a place in the wasteland that is the near west side, where I live. I was surprised to find a Hertz office at 44th Avenue and Glendale (the address listed on Yelp is their old one). Avoid this Hertz at all costs. This used to be a good place to rent a car, but it has gone downhill lately. We did not receive the mid-sized SUV we reserved for use over the Fourth of July weekend. We showed up at Hertz to find the place overrun with people waiting for cars they had reserved but were not there. The guy at the counter (wearing sunglasses the whole time) just said that it was a busy day and that there was nothing he could do about it. I told him that we were counting on having an SUV for the weekend and he just said sorry. We walked out with a Mazda 5 but only because the couple ahead of us didn't want it. Otherwise, we wouldn't have had a car and wouldn't have been able to go out of town. One person working there told us that Hertz books cars they don't have all the time. I got a rental and payed for it with my chime debt card, when I get to the location the man was very rude and said we dont take that card and i said i already paid im just picking up and then another employee standing there starts in on me, so now they are both against me, they had no customer service and they made me feel it was my fault even thogh i payed already, they ruined my planned camping trip with family and i had to cancel my reservation for the camp site, it was $30 so anyway i said what can we do? and the guy just said a refund then he hands me a paper with the number to billing, its been 5 days and no refund, when i call they say just give it more time and that they dont know if its being refunded, that it depended on if the guy at the location put it to refund, well he did not and I had to start all over with billing, the guy at the store when i called to see what he put was it a refundded? and he says you need to speak to the billing center and i asked just to know if he put it to refund but he just said you need to speak with billing 3 times and i hung up. I have proof of all this as well, I have 3 case numbers from 3 reps when im trying to get the refund they make another case number, one of the reps from india on the phone told me he is going to mail me a $50 Certificate and he starts trying to sell me on something i told him Im just trying see if im getting a refund and they would always say call back tomorrow 5 days later read more

Their Customer Service is really lacking. Had Made a reservation several days ahead of time for a Full size car rental for 1 week. When i got there to pick up my car, they ended up giving me some sort of "Mini-van/car" that was terrible. Ss soon as i started to drive it home, i noticed a problem with the seat adjustment and went back to the location ... just to find out that they had locked the door (at 3:00pm) so they could go get some more cars. I called the Phone number of the place and the phone transferred to the Manager, Nick. He told me over the phone that he would make a note of the problem with the seat but offered no remedy. I took the car on the trip figuring this is as good as it's going to get because i did have a ways to drive and needed to be there on time. The A/C was bad... in Arizona summer heat, the A/C did not cool the car down to a comfortable level until early evening when the sun was going down. When i made a right turn that was sharp (like turning at a 90 degree street corner, the Tires/front end squeaked loudly. the back of the drivers seat did not adjust. When i got to my first location and removed my luggage, i noticed that the license plate had expired in May. This was September so it was 3 months over due. went to another Hertz location and traded in that car for an actual full size car. I would not go there again because of the really low inventory (even though i had a reservation and they should have had a vehicle on hand to fill the reservation properly) and they just don't care. once the rental is done, so are they. read more

I called on a Monday and spoke with Mr. Parker and asked if I could rent even tho I didn't have a credit card. He said no problem we just need a credit check and a deposit that will be refunded when returning the vehicle. We showed up Wednesday morning a little after 9am. And spoke to Mr. Toussaint and explained the credit card and if they would work with us. He said sure and ran a credit check and took a deposit. And we were out the door in about 30 minutes. I had gotten in an accident and AAA had set up a reservation for me to pick up a car at this location at 4 pm. So I called the hertz 800 number and they sent me the information and location to get the car and I decided to call this store ahead of time to know if it was ok to pick up the car cause I had gotten a confirmation email and the pickup date was that same day and i can't remember who answered the phone but it was a guy and I told him my insurance had told me they were having a rental set up through them and all,this guy got quiet for a few seconds and said,"...ok?" And then I asked if it was ok to get the car and he told me there are none available and that he doesn't know when he'll have any rentals very rudely. HELLO ISN'T IT YOUR JOB TO KNOW WHEN CARS ARE GOING TO BE GOING IN AND OUT OF THERE,you guys should have times when a car will be returned or you just too lazy to look it up on the computer that's in front of you!
