I returned the truck same day, was on the phone with an agent when I returned it and have had to call back subsequent times because the location I rented the truck hasn't checked it in. So I get threatening texts about them seeking repayment from collections when I paid, filled the truck with gas and did my due diligence. These people are not only ignorant, it's weaponized ignorance and no reps you call will help. I'm so frustrated I've cried, and for what, doing the right and proper thing? I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent experience renting a vehicle from Hertz at the Denver, Colorado, location. Upon arriving at the Hertz facility, we were immediately met with a very long line just to speak with the single employee working at the counter. There were customers lying on the floor waiting, and several people informed us that there were no vehicles available despite having confirmed reservations. It took over an hour just to reach the counter and begin the rental process. After another hour of waiting, our reserved compact vehicle was still unavailable. After nearly two and a half hours, I asked again about the status of our rental car and was informed that no compact vehicles were available. Instead, we were given an extremely large truck. This vehicle was very difficult for my elderly mother to get in and out of, creating both inconvenience and discomfort during our trip. In addition, the truck was far more expensive to fuel upon return than the compact vehicle we had reserved. It was clear that Hertz had oversold its vehicles and did not have enough staff available to properly assist customers. The entire experience was frustrating, stressful, and unacceptable. Due to this experience, I will not rent from Hertz again, and I will strongly discourage others from doing so as well. I hope Hertz takes this complaint seriously and addresses the staffing and reservation issues at this location to prevent other customers from experiencing the same situation. read more

I have and will never rent from Hertz. After lengthy research, Hertz has failed numerous times in regards to customer service. First, they had people arrested for supposedly stealing a car that they rented. Even when they provided the rental agreement, Hertz had the people arrested. After being sued by numerous customers, Hertz had to pay out millions to settle. And now, this new AI scan of cars is going to cost the company major losses. People will not tolerate being taken advantage of. Corporations are finding ways to take advantage of customers because of their greed. How can we stick it to the customers? And Hertz isn't the only corporation that is finding ways to make huge profits at the cost of customers. Hertz's actions indicate that they need to be audited for some questionable accounting procedures. I retired from accounting, and these actions clearly show a red flag that should be looked into. Since the pandemic, many corporations have done away with customer service. Speak to the AI chat, and a lack of personal interaction with customers makes it difficult to talk to a real person. These actions can cause people to give up, and in the end, the corporation wins with a major profit increase. My advice, shop around when looking to rent a car. Research the company for customer complaints, and look into how they handle disputes. In the end, it will save you a lot of headaches and money Have a nice day. :) read more

VERY DISTASTEFUL MANAGEMENT! Gave me a car that smelled like smoke then charged me for it upon return, they gave me a different price on the phone then when I got to the counter it was $200 more. They didn't know how to close out my contract and they failed to let me know that insurance had to make me a new reservation upon pick up so that I wouldn't be stranded. Because they had attitudes they BANNED me lol. Ive been here to this HERTZ multiple times when ABBY worked here and it was always a great experience. Such SHAME. Oh and They were also rude to other customers who where asking for shuttles from the hertz at the DIA airport in transport to the airport. This review is for the Hertz Airport location. I reserved a car (not pre-paid) for three days at the Denver Airport. I CANCELLED the car a few days before the rental date and received a CANCELLATION confirmation from Hertz. I rented a lower-priced car from SIXT at the airport for those three days and flew on to San Jose where I rented an AVIS car for four days. I flew home to Hawaii on October 7. On the morning of October 8, I received an e-mail receipt from HERTZ rental at the Denver Airport that had just been returned after an 8-day rental - $882.11 (charged to my credit card!). I didn't rent that car. I wasn't even in Denver for most of those days! While in Denver for three days, I drove a SIxt CAR. I tried calling the Denver Airport ertz office without success - and then contacted USA Hertz. After a series of calls with long holds - having to speak with supervisors - I finally got them to understand that the charges on my credit card needed to be refunded. They say it may take up to 7 days to process the refund. Note that when you owe them, the charges are processed immediately. I used to believe that HERTZ was the best - not so much anymore - beware when renting from HERTZ Denver - check your credit card account carefully - hang on to any cancellation emails! read more

We want to recognize COLE and CHRISTIAN at the Denver DOWNTOWN location as providing superb customer service. We have utilized Hertz and its competitors over the past year, so we have history with other companies to compare our experience. Today was my 4th time visiting this Hertz location in the last three months. Every single experience has been exceptional to say the least. I have also been to the Hertz at the Denver airport twice recently and that has not been the case. So here is why you should only visit this location. 1: The staff members go ABOVE AND BEYOND. Especially Audrey. She has been there every time I've needed a car and I'm thankful for that. I have also noticed other staff members providing exceptional customer service every time I've visited, however, I do not know their names. 2: The cars are always cleaned well. We have had issues with this in the past at other locations, and this one really puts in the extra effort for their customers to have a clean car upon arrival. 3: I have had basically every scenario where something in my plans have changed, such as needing the car for a longer period of time, shorter period of time, needing a different car than I originally rented, dates changing.. Every single time I have to call them or request assistance they accommodate me and try to give me a great deal at the same time. 4: The location is pretty small but you can expect efficiency if you're in a rush even if there is a line. read more

As all the reviews say, this place only causes traumatic experiences. My mother who has been all over the world and rented hundreds of cars is completely devastated from her experience here. I believe her when she said she's never seen anything like this. By the way, it says please wear a mask on the door outside and nobody's wearing a mask inside all the time, just sometimes when they feel like it. I told her that last time I went to hertz they overcharged me and would not reimburse me for the tank of fuel that I had already filled up. This should be zero stars for the ZERO customer service. This review is tied to a very unpleasant Hertz rental (Denver Airport). The weekend of my daughter's wedding, I wanted to rent a Ford Focus-sized car. The Denver Airport Hertz had a shortage of cars. Dozens of Gold Members had to wait close to an hour to get a car. They finally gave me Jeep Wrangler...very inappropriate vehicle for the father and mother of the bride on a wedding. The next morning, I called the Hertz 800 number and was told I could exchange the Wrangler for a more appropriate vehicle at the Hertz Downtown Denver location. I arrived at the downtown location and saw that they had a number of more appropriate vehicles. I waited for the Hertz rep to finish with the customer ahead of me. I then explained my problem with my current vehicle. After listening to me, the Hertz rep said that, though more-appropriate cars were available, he couldn't take my car for an exchange. He told me that his manager forbids accepting any more airport cars (even though the Hertz phone rep said I could exchange the car there). This is very poor customer service. I recommend you stay away from the Hertz location and Hertz, in general. The customer service they exhibited in prior rentals has vanished. Hertz does not appear to care one bit about its regular or loyal Gold Member customers. DON'T RENT A CAR FROM HERTZ! read more

Ok. I've got to say that the previous reviews of this particular Hertz location had me very nervous. Although I reserved my car well in advance, the stories of missing cars and bad service made me wonder whether or not there would be a car waiting for me when I arrived to pick it up last Sunday morning -- ready to go on our epic journey to Boulder, Estes Park, and 12,000 feet up in Rocky Mountain National Park. No need to worry -- my car was there, it was gassed up, and I received excellent service from the on-site service rep. Because I was nervous about this Hertz location, I showed up at 9:30am instead of my reservation time of 10:00am (zipped over from the ACE Hotel on a Bird scooter). Good move -- I was the only customer there. We got the paperwork done in 5 minutes, then 5 minutes later my car was washed and ready to go. Nice new Kia with amazing gas mileage. We still had half a tank of gas when we got back to Denver International Airport late Monday afternoon (after driving all over God's green earth) to turn in the car. An easy 5 stars. I was incorrectly charged for a full tank of gas when I had both a taken a picture of the full tank confirmation at drop-off and could also provide a copy of the receipt from the gas station. I have been trying to get a hold of someone from the Verify team for almost a month now and it's getting incredibly frustrating. We will never use Hertz again. The lack of customer service is appalling! We arrived into Denver on 12.27.23 for a quick winter trip to visit our friends and family living in Colorado. We flew in that morning and arrived on time to pick up our vehicle we had a pre-reservation for. When we arrived, there were 2 people working at the desk and about 10 customers ahead of us. We had to wait 45 minutes outside for our RESERVATION. We finally received the car we reserved, we were rushed through the process and told that when we drop off the keys on 12.30, we'll return them to the desk with an attendant. Great, we were off. There was trash in the vehicle and it was clear it had not been cleaned properly between guests. When we arrived back on 12.30 to return the vehicle, the office was closed. We had been told that they would be open. We were in a rush to get to the airport so we retrieved our luggage out of the vehicle and returned the keys to the lockbox. After the fact, discovering we had left our coats in the backseat. We were very proactive and immediately created a lost and found ticket in their portal. Our friends in Denver offered to pick up these items but we were never given any direction of when they could do so. We checked in via email, phone call, and now reviews. We finally received a response after a google review to send them a Facebook messenger message to which we received this very cold response: "Hello, In accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the rental agreement, The Hertz Corporation is not responsible for personal property left in our vehicles. If items are found, we allow them to be kept in our lost and found at the location for a period of 30 days." Make sure to read through all reviews before setting up a reservation with Hertz! They're a terrible company with the WORST customer service. read more

He not only gave us a great car with a great deal, he took the time to write down suggestions for our trip to Boulder and the surrounding areas. Hertz, you need more people like Zach. I can't express enough how kind and welcoming he made us feel. The only criticism I have is the wait time for a vehicle. We had reserved and paid for a car already and still had to wait around 35 minutes at 8am. I wish they had a separate lines for reservation vs no reservation. It shouldn't have been that. Today I sold my car and went to pick up my rental car. My rental car pick up time was noon and I arrived to the doors locked and an employee inside very busy on his cellphone. He looked up for a moment to let me know they closed at noon. Excuse me? Why was my pick up time scheduled when they're closed? I called Hertz and an employee began to help me find another pickup location. After 8 minutes on hold they hung up on me. I called again to find out the other locations are also closed already and are all closed tomorrow too. They adjusted my reservation to the next available day two days from now and with two less days on my reservation my new total was $20 more expensive. She put me on hold again and was able to offer me the same rate I originally booked under. 2 less days for the same price. What a bargain. UPDATE: the modified reservation that the agent on the phone made for me was never actually made. I had no reservation made for 2 days later, no notation of the price adjustment, nothing. Customer service was closed so I messaged the agent on Facebook until they left me on read and never answered again. I filed a claim with Hertz asking them to listen to our recorded phone call and was told they'd have the results in a business day and email me (never happened). Instead I was able to cancel my original reservation but had to call back in 48 hours to request a refund. So after having over an hour of time on the phone with Hertz I had to call back a 5th time. 6 days later I still have no refund. read more

Total nightmare rental experience! Reserved a Buick encore and was given an electric car without mention, that was not charged. Tried to speak to agent about it before I left and when I returned it and no one would assist. I was given an 800 number to call, when I was there IN PERSON! I was charged for a premium roadside assistance and insurance that I did not request. The rental ended up costing almost twice the price when I reserved it, and I had to deal with an electric vehicle that I did not know how to charge. When I called the 800 number, I was told that I had to handle all of this while the car was still in my possession in order to have anything resolved! Awful customer service. Was rude and unhelpful as I was looking to rent a vehicle as a President's Circle member. I was unable to make a reservation ahead of time and asked the associate to add my Hertz Rewards / President's Circle number to my reservation and they forgot. Additionally, I only had my Southwest Credit Card in person when I needed to have the reservation on my AMEX to have the rental car coverage through the AMEX card. Thus, I asked the associate if I could switch the charge to the AMEX and he said yes I'd be able to call a number (which he gave me). After calling that number and also the President's Circle number I was informed that I wouldn't be able to switch my cards or add my Hertz Rewards number until after the Reservation is completed. Thus, I am now driving without coverage and at a higher rate / in a non preferred vehicle due to this associate. read more

Customer service is -10 stars. Phone number straight up doesn't work. I called at 2pm on a Thursday, and tried to get to a human, and the automated system straight up hung up on me. When we got to the counter, there was a general sense of incompetence. While we were able to secure a car after a ~30 minute wait, the person in front of us was denied one even though he had a reservation. While I'm glad that we were able to get one, I realized that could have been us on a different day. Here's the kicker though. When we got the car, we found that one of the lights had low tire pressure. We drove it back and asked someone to inflate it for us. But the person inflating it didn't look at his gauge or the recommended PSI, and inflated it to over 2x the recommended PSI (recommended was 36, he inflated it to 65. I'm surprised the tire didn't pop). I told him that he needed to deflate it and his response was "I don't have the tools to deflate the tire." Uhh.. hello? Take a pen, push the pin, and let the air out? Ended up having to do it myself. While I was one of the luckier ones that day, I would say, whatever extra price/time you pay by just going to the airport, it's worth it to avoid this place. Only giving 2 stars because we got lucky, but easily would be -5 stars overall. read more

Waited in line over 2 hours for my car with a 6 year old in tow. Received a dirty car (found chips and an old sock in door) and the tire sensor light was on. The rep brought it back to top off tire with air. That night I had to refill air and the next day as well. On Sunday I tried to refill as they were closed but it went flat. I needed a tow for which I was charged $290. Spent hours on phone, no additional cars available, charged an entire week after having car 2 days, and still got charged to tow a car with a faulty tire from the start. Customer service is a joke.
