The order was not correct so i had them take it back. The waiter did not appear to care since it was a large group and one less order would not make a difference. Wow! We come here allot too. Bao buns with brisket, crab rangoon, salt & pepper shrimp, pho het say, and a honeydew boba?!!! - yes and please! That's a list of what I ate here. Upon entering we were warmly greeted by a nice person. Our food was made to order, but still came out quickly and filled with flavor. The brisket was tender. My hubby's pho bowl was loaded with meats, so he was in meat heaven. LOL! The dipping sauce for the salt & pepper shrimp really made the dish - it was lightly creamy, very lemony, and dashed with just the right amount of black pepper. The grills onions on top were a perfect addition. My honeydew melon boba drink was perfect. It was fruity, rich and creamy, but not too sweet and loaded with chewy tapioca pearls. The prices are reasonable for the portion sizes and the food is good. This spot is located in a small strip mall with plenty of parking. Recently we found Het Say on E Oltorf and I cannot say enough good things about our find. The food is some of the best we have had in years. The quality of their ingredients, the freshness...it's easy to see the love that goes into each and every dish the prepare....consistently. We will be eating there as long as they are there. Easily 5-stars! Dishes are prepared quickly and packed full of flavor. Very impressed with how perfectly cooked the fresh vegetables were...still a lil crunch no mush. There's only a handful of asian food options down South, but Hey Say is definitely one of the best. It's a restaurant at the end of a strip mall, but the affordable Vietnamese options are definitely worth the drive. Their menu has the standard options like pho and bun but they also have some things that I've never seen before at any other Vietnamese place and as such, I had to try them. Braised pork belly and egg is something I've never heard of before, but whatever alchemy is being done in the kitchen back there, it transforms a tough fatty cut into meltingly soft and tender chunks of heaven. It has a deeply savory and umami profile, with some kind of hard boiled egg in there. It's hard to describe the flavor exactly, but it is very good. Speaking of savory umami bombs, the grilled spareribs are also a treasure trove of flavor. It has more of the pronounced fish sauce flavor, especially with the dipping sauce, but it is salty, smoky, savory, fall off the bone rib goodness. Both dishes will make you want a nap after, but getting effectively a half rack of grilled ribs at the price they charge is a steal. Jasmine rice and a light salad accompany the dishes. I would love to come back and try some pho here as well as some of the other dishes! read more

Randomly found this place because 888 was too packed. So far, this place has the best calamari in town next to maybe lima criolla. I think their COVID-time calamari was a bit sad though (when it was take out only). Their pho isn't the biggest portions but solid. This picture was taken preCOVID. I ordered the spare ribs, fried dumplings, and the egg rolls. The egg rolls were really yummy and crunchy. The fried dumplings were soft and not fried enough so I won't get again. I'll try steamed because the insides tasted good but the outside just wasn't good. The spare ribs had flavor but they were so incredibly dry and tough. Not juicy at all and just very dry. Great value, but also a good menu. There are a few things on their menu that you don't see elsewhere or in combination. There are many places for pho, but there aren't as many places for the bao, traditional braised pork belly and eggs, or banh mi. While their takes are different than most any others I've tried, I chalk that up to familial traditions and differences. The service is polite and they are happy to make accommodations and eager to make suggestions. Tip: if you're on keto (I am but wasn't when I first started visiting this place), ask for steamed veggies or salad and tell them you don't want the buns, rice, or noodles (in case you order the bao or pho, for instance). read more

Food: 4 Menu isn't super massive so usually I take that as a good sign since that means the restaurant takes time to try to specialize or make the few things they have good. I got the pho dac biet. The lime it came with was pretty dry, but the pho itself wasn't bad. The meat to noodle ratio was a little off and the noodles were a bit soft for my liking, but that's all preference. Overall not bad. I also noticed there was thit kho on the menu, which is a nice surprise since i don't usually see that on menus. I'll most likely be back to try it. Any foodie knows that a restaurant is authentic and of good quality if it looks a bit run-down with minimum amount of English on the menu. Het Say does not have this: Its menu only has 3 options for pho (beef, chicken, veggie) without allowing you to choose the meats; you pay at the counter then get a number for your order (Almost no authentic Viet restaurant does this!); the restaurant is well-lit and spacey. Needless to say we were hesitant about the food quality based on our previous experiences. But NO!!! Het Say delivered! The beef pho smelled so good, the broth tastier than most of the pho places I've been to. The beef itself was tender and plentiful (please pardon my no-onion preference!!). The beef pho was amazing! Comfort food that will always make you feel better especially if you are under the weather. The beef balls were very flavorful and the thin slices of beef were perfectly cooked in the salty broth. It also came with bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, 1 lime, and a sweet plum sauce. Considering I got it to go, the soup was still hot when I got home and only took them 15 minutes to pickup after placing order. Highly recommend and will be back. read more

The pho is amazing. The broth is so clean and beefy. Super beefy! Not overpowered by herbs and spices but def a good fragrance to it too. I wish I took a picture but I smelled it then i was done. The brisket meat is a bit tough but idgaf. The broth is where it's at. You get a good amount too! I've been so dehydrated all day in this 96 degree weather and I've regained all my lost electrolytes. Definitely stop by here and receive great service. We tried the salt and pepper shrimp too. It was a hit. Next time I will get the calamari version!
