I got the black tea latte, less ice, minimal sugar (which is basically 30% sugar). This is a solid milk tea. It's very milk-forward but still light, pleasant, and almost fruity. It was appropriately sweet for the requested level. Other drinks: 0.5/1. Good variety of fruit teas and milk teas. The "cloud" drinks are topped with sea salt cheese foam, while the "boom" drinks are essentially slushies. The Cloud Yumberry and Crisp Grape Boom were both delicious, but the drinks are very expensive for what you get. Ambiance: 0.5/1. Calming decor, although the music was a little loud during the soft opening. There are some benches and chairs indoors, but the tables are few in number and tiny in size. Not a good place to work. LOVE Heytea!! Everything I've tried always feel so fresh and healthy. Even the teas have so much aroma and the best floral flavor. It can be pretty hectic. I would say the employees don't give the best service, but they are always hard at work to get the drinks out ASAP. The interior is always clean and the tea smell is heavenly. I love this locations modern interior and the fact that there is seating which their other Irvine location does not. I always recommend one of the booms and the matcha tea! I don't usually leave reviews, but this had to be said. I waited in line at Hey Tea for almost an hour, and while the drink itself was actually good, it was definitely not worth that kind of wait. The line moved painfully slow, and there was no communication from staff about how long things would take. It just felt super unorganized, like no one really had control of the situation. Watching people who ordered after me get their drinks first didn't help either. Again, the drink tasted great--no complaints there--but there's no way I'm spending an hour of my life for it again. We ordered the coconut mango boom and the pistachio king jasmine. - The coconut mango boom was delicious - it tasted very fresh, refreshing and not too sweet. The fun toppings kept the drink interesting. - The king jasmine milk tea was fragrant and the pistachio foam tastes just eating a real salted pistachio! Grand opening day 9/26 Showed up at opening at 11am and the line wrapped around the plaza so I decided to bounce Came back after work at 4pm and lowkey the line was still diabolical (end of the line was right at the edge / around the corner of Poached Neighborhood Kitchen) There were security guards outside corralling everyone and maintaining an orderly line which was greatly appreciated Understandably, the inside of the store was crowded and hectic, but still clean and all the staff were super friendly in spite of the lines and pressure I imagine they're facing. There's one long table and a few small square tables with limited seating inside that would make for a nice space to chill and chat with friends once the lines and crowds die down It took maybe about 30ish minutes to get from the end of the line at the corner edge of Poached to order and another 10ish min to get my drinks which IMO could be worse all things considered Matcha Cloud Coconut Blue and Mango Grapefruit Boom were both great! I cannot believe the level of unprofessionalism I experienced at the Irvine Heytea store. I specifically ordered a drink without cheese foam and emphasized it clearly. I waited 30 minutes, only to receive a drink with cheese foam. When I politely asked them to remake my drink and refund the price difference, the staff member -- who claimed to be the "supervisor" -- immediately started yelling at me, insisting it was my fault, and refused to refund anything. She printed a new receipt but still refused to give me the difference. When I asked for her name, she said, "I'm not giving you my name" in the most rude and dismissive tone. She even insisted I needed the original receipt to get a refund -- which is ridiculous -- and only reluctantly agreed once I mentioned the order number. I have NEVER been treated this way at a bubble tea shop. The so-called "supervisor" was completely unprofessional, rude, and aggressive. Corporate management needs to step in and train their staff. There were many pick-ups who were WAITING AN HOUR for their drinks. For context, this was a weekday afternoon. Placed my order at ~3:20, app said estimated wait time 20 mins - got to store at 3:30, expecting to wait a bit. That's fine. Except every group who came into the store and made in-person orders (counted at least 15 people cuz there were 2 groups of 5, and at least 4 other groups of 2 that came by) in my first 20 mins of waiting. Absolutely avoid this though if you are a ceremonial matcha fan. There is only the slightest and most minimal hint of matcha in this drink. I honestly don't even know how to describe the flavor because it just tastes like sweetened milk. You can also tell by the very light and dull green color to assume this is low quality matcha, in contrast to vibrant green in high quality matcha. It is extremely unorganized. I placed my order at 7:32. So many people just waiting for their orders. Lots of drinks on the counter. They don't tell you when your order is ready, you have to look at the screen to see if your order number is done. I've ordered from this Hey Tea location around ten times before and usually had a good experience, but my last visit was honestly really disappointing. Something really needs to be improved in the management and order handling. We ordered online, arrived at the store, and the app kept showing "preparing," so we waited. Our order number eventually appeared on the in-store screen as preparing too, so we thought everything was fine and continued to wait patiently. After another long wait, we noticed people who arrived much later than us already got their drinks, so we asked the staff. That's when we were told, very casually, that our order had been cancelled because they were "out of mango." The problem is: the app never showed it was cancelled at any point, and even worse, our order number was still being displayed on the store screen as if it was being made. We showed the staff our app, and clearly something did not match what they told us. They then called the "manager," who looked at our order and only at that moment processed the refund in their system. There was a very casual, almost routine apology, but it honestly didn't feel like they really cared about what happened or about the fact that we had already waited so long. We were told they had already closed and couldn't make the drinks anymore. What made it more frustrating was that one of the drinks had actually already been made, yet the first staff member didn't mention it at all. It was only when the manager noticed we were clearly upset that they decided to hand that drink to us. By that point, we had already wasted nearly an hour based on misleading app and in-store screen information. Tbh, mistakes happen and I fully understand the team must have been tired after a long day. But the frustrating part wasn't the mango being unavailable - it was the lack of transparency, the initial attempt to brush it off as "already refunded," the misleading order status, and the fact that after waiting so long, the attitude still felt dismissive instead of genuinely apologetic. read more
