Quick and easy lunch! Hey Yuet has a good lunch deal and portions and the service was attentive. I say it's a great place to stop by for lunch!

Stumbled off the train around 11am on a Monday with loose plans for the day. There's lots of food available in and around Penn Station, but we decided to search Yelp for Dim Sum. Hey Yuet was a quick enough walk in the rain and worth getting a little damp for. We arrived before the lunch rush, so we were seated immediately and started ordering soup dumplings, rice rolls and a variety of other delicious dim-sum options. We ate our faces off. I wanted to keep going but hit maximum capacity and waddled out of there very fat and happy. Everything was wonderful-including the service. There were 2 young people managing all of the tables - they did great job. I sent some of the food pics to friends that no longer live in/near NYC..they were very jealous.

Walking into HEY YUET feels like stepping through a time capsule straight to 1950s Hong Kong warm lights, vintage décor, and the comforting aroma of freshly steamed dim sum. Great aesthetic and an extensive menu featuring authentic Cantonese cuisine.

SERVICE - located near Penn station - decently sized interior with tables to seat groups of 2-4 - service is polite but not overly friendly - ambiance suited for a semi casual meal - restrooms available for customers in the back of the restaurant MENU - cantonese cuisine - vegan/vegetarian options available upon request - average price ($20 per person) FOOD - tofu chow fun (6/10): stir fried rice noodles with deep fried tofu chunks in a sweet and soy sauce heavy sauce. This was a custom dish we ordered based on our server's suggestion. When eaten on its own it was just okay. The sauce was predominantly soy based giving it a strong salty and umami taste. The tofu tasted like it was fried in old oil as it was not crisp but soggy. - eggplant tofu clay pot (6/10): eggplant and tofu in a sweet and sour sauce. This was presented very interestingly in a hot pot that was still steaming. While i liked the tofu in this slightly better, it still tasted old. The sauce was also too sweet and tasted almost dessert like. WOULD I GO BACK? No, I was not a huge fan of the food and it made my stomach hurt.

Service was honestly pretty bad. My friend ordered rice and didn't receive rice until he was halfway done with his entree. My other friend has a shrimp allergy and there was no mention of what the wontons in his soup contained on the menu. A simple "wonton soup" was listed under appetizers and that's what we ordered, only to have it taken back. Then, as someone who specifically asked for chicken and duck, no pork, in my 2 choice protein meal, received 2 servings of duck and pork. I asked the server if they had my order correct and they informed me I ordered 3 proteins, not 2. They offered to charge me for my 2 protein meal. After the server left the table, my friends say they heard me request only chicken and duck. Anyway, for the price, the meals are filling and they weren't untasty. As far as service is concerned, however, it was absolutely according to whatever the servers wanted to do. And so for that, I wouldn't entirely want to come back.

The place was solid. Dim sum choices are a little limited but they were delicious. We ordered some larger dishes to share as well and they were tasty. We liked the roasted duck a lot! Desserts were super cute. Service was great. The place was very cold on a cold day. Wish they had more heat.

Good decent lunch time men, available Monday to Friday. Chicken and broccoli came with rice and soup. Also ordered some dim sum items as my friend ended meeting me there. Place is clean and was good to see decent lunch traffic at the restaurant. Less than $20 pp for a lunch special and 3 dim sum items.

They had a deal on Uber Eats, so I gave them a try. Unfortunately, it really fell short in comparison to my go-to dim sum spot. I ordered shumai, chicken feet, sticky rice and a roast pork rice bowl. Shumai was not good. Just a mushy texture. Chicken feet and sticky rice were fine. Roast pork rice bowl was abysmal. I've never seen roast pork slices that huge my entire life. The meat was dry, the fried egg was overdone. Super underwhelming place. If you're desperate, go for it. If you have choices, pick somewhere else.

Tasty food, fast service, good ambience. Checks all boxes. The fried rice was our favorite.

Absolutely amazing experience! Pick up was super efficient, and this Mei Fun was one of the best I've had in the city. Totally recommend this place for a great bite in Chelsea!

Delicious! We walked out of Penn Station craving some brunch and stumbled upon this place right as it was opening. We didn't make a reservation, though would recommend doing so because it got packed very quickly. Service was efficient but can be delayed as there were 2-3 staff serving the whole restaurant. We ordered off their dim sum menu (shu mai, soup dumplings, pork ribs, pork and veggie bun) and their lunch menu (char siu and duck over rice). Everything was very umami, warm, and tasty. Also ordered the Hong Kong milk tea (no boba), which was delicious and not too sweet. Cozy and clean interiors, indoor seating only, modest sized space.

My friend suggested this place and after comparing reviews via google and Yelp, I was looking forward to it especially after seeing pictures of the chicken and Chinese broccoli. Made reservations through the site via google. There was no line so I think you can just walk in but did go there on a Tuesday. Kicked it off with soup dumplings (pork) which was on the smaller end in size compared to the ones I've had in other spots but still good and comes in 4. Also got the chicken and mushroom dumpling which the inside had a shumai-vibe to me (4 piece). For the mains, got the beef chow fun which was good with plenty of beef. I haven't had chicken with Chinese broccoli in a long time so had to get the chicken with Chinese broccoli which was predominately broccoli, just wished it was more balanced but still good. Overall it was a good experience and wait staff would always fill our cups with water and asked if we needed anything. I would say this is not a place to go out your way to but solid if your in the area and in the mood for good Chinese food. *Good service

Do we need a reservation for a Sunday?

    Yes.

    Is it BYOB?

I would suggest calling the restaurant. When I visited I didn't notice a wine or liquor menu but that was during the soft opening. Maybe it has changed now?

How long will the soft opening promotion last?

    around a month maybe

This second go around was a celebration dinner with my brother so we ordered quite a bit to share. For starters we had their crab rangoon, wontons in chili oil, and salt pepper wings. The rangoons were perfectly crisp but the filling just didn't impress me all too much. I love a good smack of green onion & crab, this one lacked both. Definitely not my favorite rangoons and only 3??? Hmm. The wontons were sublime though. They were nice and plump with a nice punch from the chili oil they bathe in. The chicken wings were pretty standard, I kinda wish there was more pepper on it. It was nice and salty but severely lacked pepper for being a pepper oriented dish. As for the General Tsos? YUM. This was great. The ratio of batter to chicken wasn't bad and it had such a great crisp. The actual General Tso sauce was perfect as well, I could not stop picking at this. The Shrimp Lo Mein was also fantastic, very smoky which I'm a sucker for. The shrimps were perfectly cooked as well and the noodles..... bouncy umami goodness. Delicious food, decent prices, great service I should add. In Chinatown, you learn that hospitality is entirely optional. Here though, they are welcoming and communicate very well with you. Our waiter and the hosts were especially lovely on this night. For next time, I'd pass on the crab rangoons and go for their crispy garlic chicken over the salt pepper wings. There will definitely be a next time though!
