I wish I can give negative stars on this restaurant. The waitress was the RUUUUUUUDEST. Both of them were giving the WORST service as they believe themselves are the God. I had a pickup order so I went into the store hoping to let her know name for picking up. I said hello about five times and she seemed to not hear me. Then I waved my hands and she finally saw me. Then she told me "not yet" very impatiently. I then asked her how long should I wait approximately. She told me "more than five minutes definitely ". Then I sat down and waited for a few minutes, another waitress came to me with someone else's order. I told her it is not my order. Then this second waitress found out that my order had been ready the moment I walked into this place :) I asked the first waitress who told me my order still needs "5 more minutes" why she told me that way. She kept ignoring me and talking with a new customer who just walked in. I hope the manager of this store can do something about that waitress since I will not come again as long as she is working there. Best Chinese in this area. Or to be specific Taiwanese. This particular area is underserved with soso uninspired food. You'd have to drive to the spectrum or down toward Jeffrey to get anything better. Plus service is fast, wait staff is kind. I don't like the Jazz music much tho. How about some pop, Chinese music, or K-pop instead. * If ya move this closer to the other Taiwanese restaurants in Irvine.. the rating would drop to a 3. Quantity is less than desired : Example the Braised pork over rice, could do with more meat and a bit more rice but its larger than a small. So I always go here for lunch. The bill came and I gave them my Debit card and the waiter said do you have cash. I asked why? and he said their machine is not working. He wants me to withdraw cash at the atm near the resto. After walking for 5 mins to go to the atm, I've realized that my bank is gonna charge me $6 transaction fee. I came back at the resto and told them I have to come back after work and withdraw from my bank. He took my card and processed it. Wth, he wasted my 10mins. The all you can eat noodle and soup is an added bonus but unless you're a big eater, one bowl was plenty! Saw that this was a new place.  And they offered a small bowl of noodles (on the house) for kids.  They also have free refills for soup and noodle for some of their beef noodle soup selections.  Interesting. When we got to the plaza we didn't see the restaurant.  The old large sign was for Hot Pot Legend or something like that. Nothing to write home about for the beef noodle soup.  Broth was just ok, and the beef was super tough and not very flavorful.  The kids noodles were literally noodles in lightly flavored hot water with a piece of vegetable and half of a soy sauce egg.  We also ordered some xiao long bao (steamed juicy dumplings).  When they were bringing out the noodles for the kids, the waitress came by and said they could only do 5 of dumplings (normal order is 8 dumplings) and would only charge us for 5.  Halfway through the meal another waitress came by to tell us the same thing.  When we were about done with our meal, we asked them to cancel the order and ger us our check, and a few minutes later they came out with the 5 dumplings and did not charge us for it. The taste was a bit off, not sure if it was tye dumpling or the sauce, but smelled a little like detergent. I saw something else that was very questionable when they were cleaning the tables.  They have these large glass bottles of what I think is cold tea, and I saw them take a half used bottle, fill it back up, and put it in the beverage fridge.  I also saw a lady rinsing a cloth in a pail of cleaning solution, and she went into the back, came back out (I don"t think with enough time to wash her hands), and then opened and closed the rice cooker. We had beef noodle soup for lunch and it was the worse I've ever had. No flavor, just real salty and tastes like soy sauce and lots of msg. We didn't try other food on the menu but after this experience, we really doubt it if will be any better because beef noodle is considered as one of the simplest of foods to make. The wait staff is polite although she got our order wrong. Mind you we ordered two bowls of beef noodles with two different types of noodles which is not very complicated. When the food arrived, one bowl was correct, the other one was assorted beef and other beef parts. I don't count that against them because we all make mistakes. But the blandness and saltiness of the food make this a one star restaurant in my opinion. read more

Amazing! I went here with one other person and we were both very impressed with the food! Their chilled noodles had the most delicious texture. Cooked to perfection!!! Nothing was too salty or anything. The service was fine. Nothing special but nothing bad either. He answered all our questions as it was our first time there. The only things I'd mention is that when we had gone, which really wasn't that late in the day. (Probably around the mid afternoon) they said they were sold out of an ingredient.......... and the ingredient was actually in quite a few of their dishes. (It was tripe by the way) I get that it happens sometimes but, it's always disappointing to be told that after you finally decided on what you wanted. Also, when I got my food (I ordered a rice dish) only some of the ingredients were actually hot. The others were either cold or.... somewhat warm? My rice was warm. But that's kinda being generous..... Who serves cold/kinda warm rice? This isn't a cold dish. So I'm a little thrown off by that. The veggies that came on the side were cold. Like..... 100% cold. Not even a little warm. It tasted fine so I ate it but I mean... why is it cold? Those are my only gripes about this place. Otherwise the experience was still considered excellent. I adored the chilled noodles that the person who came with me ordered. I'd come back for those any day! We also ordered their lamb kabobs which were very yummy and their fried chicken kabobs. It's hard to find real Chinese food in Irvine. This place is the closest I've gotten. They have food here that I thought I would have to go back to China for. I highly recommend the lamb skewers for taking back home and cooking. I hear they are going to introduce them into the regular menu soon so keep an eye out for it! read more

I am a food enthusiast and I have tried all the great Chinese food in Orange County and the San Gabriel Valley. Today, upon arriving in this location to try their hot pot because I received advertisement from WeChat. Hoping this would be a great Sichuan place for me to come regularly, but it lead me into a great disappoint. First of all, they do not even have enough people on the staff to serve you. I waiting almost half hour to be seated. Then, I went to the sauce bar to get some green onion, cilantro and other sauces, which they ran out and they never bother to refill it. I requested them to refill the sauce which took them forever to fill and even after I am done with my food, there's still no cilantro. The food were quite expensive and does not even taste good. Went to Hi House "Hot Pot Legend" for their beef noodle soup, but their menu has changed to only serve noodle soups for lunch hour. Hot pot is served for dinner time. It was a rainy day so a hot pot didn't sound bad at all. We went for their lamb and beef rib eye, half bone broth and half spicy. Fish ball on skewers and veggie platter. The veggie platter was priced at $18.99 for some cabbage, mushrooms, lotus roots, tomato, bamboo stalks, lettuce, spinach. Fish balls you receive 4 skewers with 2 on each. The pot came out massive and exquisitely detailed. Decorated with gold embellishments and others I noticed had dragon head embellishments on the handles of their pots for single broths. Broth was well flavored. The music playing was Jay Chou's greatest hits and if you couldn't get enough of the talented musician, there's more Jay Chou's hits . I found the pricing for the skewers and veggie platter unreasonably high compared to the meat selections. You could get 2 meat selections for the price of 1 veggie platter. Gotta eat those veggies though so we went with it anyway. All in all everything was fresh. Service was polite, however, no one offered to refill our water on a slow night with only 4 tables occupied. Although the meal was enjoyable, it's overpriced in my opinion when comparing to other hot pot and shabu restaurants in the area unless you skip the veggies and skewers. I probably won't be back again because of this. That feeling you get when you somehow allow yourself to get robbed. I saw the yelp review and wanna give a try. I tried their beef noodle soup. The soup is flavorful and not oily at all, the noodle and beef are decent. The service is excellent. You can refill extra noodle and soup with no charges if you order noodle soup. Also, they provides free kids noodle soup with veggie and an egg. How good is that!! Went here the past week. Place was recently remodeled and under new ownership. Went here with the family for hot pot. The hot pot here is kinda disappointing. The new place is more geared for noodle bowls and entrees rather than family style hot pot. They have a endless noodles bowl item on the menu. We tried the spicy broth and tomato for the other half. Broth was decent but not spicy and did not hold flavor very long. The meat ordered did have a good portion size. All pictures were taken after eating some before I remembered to take pictures. Definitely order the combos versus the sides. The "sides" all come on skewers and are not worth the price. Menu says 0.50 and $2.50 but they hand write in $3,$5. The sauce bar is still there but with less offerings. If you're looking for Chinese hot pot try somewhere else but if you're looking for a quick filling noodle dinner this might be the spot for you. read more

First thing waiters in this restaurant definitely need to be retrained. They're super rude and completely have no idea how to serve customers. And food sucks! Meats brought to our table were half raw. It's supposed to be fully cooked so we asked the kitchen to make it done. Then we had some grilled rubber that are very disgusting.
