We were craving skewers and went searching when our usual spot turned out to be closed, that's how we found this place on Yelp. What a great find! The service was excellent and the food was amazing. One detail I really loved is that when you order soju, they serve it in a small vase placed in an ice bucket to keep it perfectly chilled. Such a nice touch you don't usually see! Every dish we tried was delicious, and the whole experience felt thoughtful and well put together. Definitely a spot I'd come back to for great skewers and good vibes with family.

Located in the same strip mall as Left Coast Brewing near the corner of Irvine Center Drive and Sand Canyon Avenue, Hi House specializes in hot pot, barbecue, and Chinese cuisine. Their menu offers so much variety that it's impossible to sample everything in just one visit, so you'll have to come back again for another visit! Mango Tea was my drink of choice and I was happy about the taste and sweetness but also the serving size. Popcorn Chicken and Spicy Szechwan Wonton were great starters and they were followed by Lamb and Beef Skewers. Surprisingly the lamb was more tender than the beef! We also shared the hot pot and it hit the spot like it usually does. As mentioned before, their menu is expansive so we'll def be back to try something new and different!

Hi House has a mix of hotpot, skewer, dry pot, and noodle/rice dishes. We ordered beef skewers (6/serving). I have a low spice tolerance so beware if you can't handle your spice ! The fried tiger prawns had a nice crunch and tasted like a dim sum dish. The mixed dry pot and noodles were delicious. The serving size is big here so left a lot for the next few meals ! It was busy but the waiter was very attentive during our visit. Would definitely recommend

Super delicious and authentic flavor. Love the spicy kick the food has. The spicy cucumber is both spicy and refreshing and garlicky. The tomato beef noodle stew was also very well made if you like a tomato based broth. The green beans are always a great addition. The eggplant is garlicky and delicious -- wouldn't not get unless you like garlic! Order your food on an iPad and collect rewards too! Nice servers and easy to park out front.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Hi House definitely needs to work on the ambience of the restaurant. It's super lacking and it is hard to enjoy dining there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is also a hit and miss. I do enjoy the food. The skewers are decent. The lamb skewers were tender. The string beans were a little salty, but still good. The cucumber salad was my favorite. It was so refreshing and crunchy. The fried rice was yummy. It's also one of the few places that opens late. As Always, NOM 4 LIFE!

Hi House is a late night gem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We came around 9pm and it was calm, cozy, and just the right level of quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is simple but thoughtful, and the space feels warm without trying too hard.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect for actually enjoying your food and conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now the real star. The food. The lamb skewers were my favorite. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and grilled just right. The garlic scallops were rich and savory without being heavy. The clams were full of flavor, and the crawfish was messy in the best way. Everything felt fresh, bold, and meant to be shared. The service made the night even better. The owner was incredibly kind, fast, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. You can tell this place is run with heart. If you're looking for a chill spot with amazing skewers, seafood, and welcoming energy, Hi House is absolutely worth the visit.

Everyone seems to be harping over the service at this venue, but individuals need to take this restaurant into proper context. CONTEXT: This is an authentic Chinese restaurant with AUTHENTIC Chinese food, which is highly liked by the local Chinese community. Accordingly, with the majority of the customers being native Chinese, the service is conditioned to serve this particular demographic. This means you'll get the same degree of attention & service as you would in a popular hole in the wall restaurant somewhere in China. By the same token, again, the food is delicious and AUTHENTIC ! My favorite are the BBQ sticks. CONCLUSION: [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're one of those people that hold faux SoCal lip service as an important element in one's dining experience, don't come here, you'll be disappointed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]But if you want REAL Chinese food, and are willing to acclimate yourself to an actual Chinese atmosphere, this place is for you![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We were the only party on a Monday night so service was fast and attentive. The beef soup was yummy and flavorful. The teriyaki chicken skewer was my favorite. The beef was very salty and hard to pull off. The cartilage was okay. Their mild was already spicy.

This is an authentic Chinese restaurant with great food. Delicious and fresh, made to order. Service is incredibly slow, even when ordering online. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's pretty small but clean and well maintained.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Some of the staff is super friendly and personable, but others are about business with no pleasantries. Overall this is a great place and seems to be very popular!

Not sure why this place is under 4 stars. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is laid back and not too busy on a Saturday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had the beef and chicken teriyaki skewers. The chicken teriyaki was really good and crispy. The kung pao chicken noodles was a first for me but was really good. Popcorn chicken my son loved. We will becoming back. Worth a try.

Don't know why this place has low reviews, but the lamb skewers here are incredibly flavorful and came out fresh! Service is self order on an ipad. This place is perfect if you have spicy skewer cravings. The seasoning is just right!

Hi House Restaurant in Irvine! Excellent!

Came for dinner on a Sunday night and just loved this wonderful place! The Teraki Chicken skewers and the beef skewers were amongst my favorite. I loved the egg plant and highly recommend it. Even the appetizers were fabulous! But I think my favorite was the popcorn chicken! The friendly owner was there and greeted us and I will be back with more friends. I love how they have extended hours too. I highly recommend Hi House!! The food is fabulous!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We came in on a Saturday and the place was empty; we ordered the mixed dry pot, but it wasn't listed on their iPad menu what was in it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Turns out it's a mix of tripe and aorta only with veggies. A little bit disappointed that "a mix" turns out to be just a mix of 2 things, but no complaints about the taste, the dry pot sauce is delicious and not too spicy. The size is huge for 2 people, so we have some leftover perfect for 1 more serving. We also got some skewers: lamb and chicken gizzards. The spices were a bit bland as they put very little initially, so we asked for more spice to be added and they kindly added more and reheated it for us. Overall, I quite like it and the price point is good too for the portion you get. I just wish they had more options for the dry pot toppings, maybe some with lamb or beef, cause I love the seasoning they use, but not a big fan of the limited toppings option. The lamb skewers were juicy and perfectly seasoned with cumin, and the grilled beef tendon skewers had an amazing crispy, chewy texture. The soup dumplings were full of flavorful broth, and the braised beef knife-cut noodles were chewy with large, tender chunks of beef. We also tried the beef paomo for the first time--it was warm, comforting, and packed with rich flavor. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and after chatting with the staff we learned the owner is from Xi'an, which explains how authentic everything tasted. The menu is only on the kiosk or on their website so look ahead. The restaurant was practically empty when we arrived so we didn't mind since we had kids. However, there were wet signs on the floor and buckets everywhere to catch a leak. It was very chaotic. We ordered the crispy beef and pho inspired beef noodles. The crispy beef was thinly sliced and fried before getting tossed in their citrus glazed sauce. It got too sweet after a few bites. The "pho" was okay, it had lots of meat but the broth was something I couldn't put my finger on. The noodles were "unlimited". I asked for a second bowl of noodles and were given knife cut, when I originally had thin. I don't mind it but if it were anyone else, they may have cared? Maybe it was a bad day..

I've had them delivered and they were still juicy and crispy, buns weren't soggy at all. I liked the mapo tofu I've also had, not much to comment on, standard but tasty! I also tried the shandang spicy chicken. It was incredibly tasty and fragrant, the whole room smelled like it the moment I opened the bowl (which was probably 3 times bigger than the mapo tofu container, very big!). My one issue, I'm used to more "whole" bone-in chicken like legs and thighs etc, but the chicken was butchered into bite-sized pieces with pretty much each piece having bone in it. I'm not used to searching through bite-sized chicken pieces for bone so it was a bit of a chore. I did it anyways because it tasted amazing! But I also would probably just order a much easier-to-eat rougamo next time I'm there.

Massive parking lot so that was easy, one friend went ahead and let them know we had 10 incoming. They made room and we sat immediately. One of the spots that you scan a menu at the table and you review, order and pay all in the app. I was really not familiar with the line up and went with the "House Special Beef Pot Roodle" (Roodles are their rice noodles). It was a weekend only item and I tried that. The noodles came separate from the soup. Over all it was very tasty. The meat was a bit fatty and the soup had tendons too. I took that part home and my wife loved it. I tend to avoid the fatty meat and tendons are not good to me. 10 of us so some of the appetizers got passed around. The smashed cucumbers are excellent, and my buddy also got some friend potatoes of sorts, reminded me of a fat French fry. Because my buddy and I sat at the same table we scanned the same menu, he ordered a bunch of stuff and also House Special Beef Pot Roodle. That confused the kitchen and they asked me if I meant to order 2, I said no and didn't realize I cancelled my buddy's order. Part of the confusion of a large party and many scanned menu orders. My buddy was struggling to order and our initial waiter seemed to not understand my friend and that took a little bit to work out, young lady came from the back and was able to quickly resolve some of the confusion and get questions answered as needed. In the end he had lot of food to explore. One thing that caught my eye was several couples there and sharing a large soup item served with a tray of various food items for the soup. Kind of a date night visual and something that looked very interesting. Several couples around us had that same dish and its got me more curious. I ordered their most popular dish, the A1 set, but honestly, it didn't really live up to the hype for me. The broth tasted pretty underseasoned overall. From what I understood, you're supposed to mix all the toppings into the soup with the noodles, but even after doing that, I still felt like the flavor was lacking. Yes, they provide seasoning on the side, but personally, I wish the broth already had enough flavor on its own without needing to adjust it myself. Would I come back? Probably not. Nothing really stood out to me enough to return, and it felt more like a one-time experience. Overall, everything was just okay.
