This place is located right inside Foodland Farms in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. I've passed by it several times before when I was in town but decided to finally give it a try yesterday. We got the Steak, Garilc Shrimp, BBQ Shoyu Chicken, Fried Rice, Potato Salad and the Kimchee Coleslaw. The portions were huge and everything tasted pretty good. For the steak you have a choice of about 4 different flavors (Lilikoi BBQ, Garlic Butter, Chimichuri, etc), the Fried Rice was very flavorful and the Garlic Shrimp was good (just hate the shell). I didn't care much for the Potato Salad but it wasn't terrible and my Dad who has a high spice tolerance said the Kimchee Coleslaw was spicy but good. For the amount of food you get I feel like price wise its a little on the high side but its not bad. The 3 plates we got cost a total of $58 (the Fried Rice option is $2.99 extra per plate). I got the Ultimate Mix Plate (bbq chicken, steak, garlic shrimp) $17.99 with an upgrade to steak fried rice for $2.99 more. They didn't give that much protein. It just looks like a lot because it was sitting on the fried rice. They gave a lot of fried rice. I chose potato for my salad of choice with a side of lilikoi bbq sauce for the steak. The chicken was moist and tender. It was the best thing on the plate. The four piece garlic shrimp was coated in flour, deep fried and the garlic butter sauce was drizzled on after. Located inside the Foodland supermarket at Ala Moana shopping center. Once you enter the supermarket, you can find this place on the left side. The set up is like a fast food place, you order, pick up, find a seat at the common area and enjoy your food. We ordered two items, the daily special "Smoke prime rib", we asked for having fried instead and it was $3 extra. The smoke favor of the prime rib is nice and rich, if you never try a smoke prime rib, go give it a try, it was surprising good. I ordered the steak and garlic shrimp, the steak is very chewy, ever it is at medium rare, kind of disappointed. The garlic shrimp is very good, both me and my wife love it. We also order a small coke, dinner for two set you back $50. No the cheapest price for a quick take out dinner. For my steak, I only rate it a 5 out of 10, for my wife's smoke prime rib, 7.5 out of 10. If you don't want to dress up to go to a fancy steak house but craving steak for dinner, you can give it a try. The staffs are nice, location is convenance, lots of tables and chairs. What I will do next time is to order one steak plate and go to Foodland and get a poke bowl, we can share both items for dinner, that will be a nice combination! read more

I came here and wanted to return. I got a dish that was quite good. It came on a bed of spinach and was the meat, candied bacon. And although it looked like a tiny bit, it was represented in the end product. I saw some sample plates with prices and don't remember what the name of the dish was. I think it was a bowl, and I ordered it with spinach because I thought it would be healthier and I wouldn't need to look for a salad. Wouldn't have been hard in Foodland, but it was an extra step that I didn't want to take. The only hiccup was that the person plating my dish used the scale to measure the meat. Not a problem, except that she was measuring shrimp and I'm allergic to it. Also, she was going to use the same spoon to measure my meat. But changed her mind. And the stickiness of the sauce was a little off-putting. The flavor was good though. This wouldn't be a destination spot for me. The whole idea was to order ahead and by the time I get there, the food would be ready. According to the DoorDash app, it would take between 20 and 25 minutes for the order to be complete, and it took me about 20 minutes to get to the restaurant. There were several people ahead of me, and I even waited patiently until I could speak to an associate. Once I told her that I had a mobile order, I was expecting her to just give me my order because at that point it should've been completed, she realized That "Oh! You had an order?!?!" and then proceeded to work on it just right then and there. So I had to wait a while longer for order that was supposedly done (but wasn't) ... I was thinking to myself, why did I go on DoorDash to order food that I could've just arrived there and ordered it myself? I was hoping that my food would just be ready and I would just get up and go, but I had to wait for everyone in line in front of me until it was time to finally receive my food. As you can see on the DoorDash app, it says to skip the line and to pick up your item, they say this because it is assumed that they had received my order and was working on it as I was on my way to pick it up. That wasn't the case tonight! Don't get me wrong, HI steaks has pretty decent food. Just make sure that if you wanna order ahead of time, that you actually get there ahead of time and don't even bother about making the process more convenient for you by ordering via mobile because they don't pay attention to their mobile orders and you might as well just arrive there in order right then and there. Wow, HISteaks you delivered well this past Thanksgiving. I had seen a post on FB about your Thanksgiving meals to go. The price was right. The menu sounded delicious. Visited the HISteaks at Ala Moana, which is located just inside Foodland Farms. Ended up ordering and prepaying the package which included a whole smoked turkey and fixings (see picture attached). Turned out to be memorably delicious. No dessert was included in the package (which I really like that way...always delicious homemade desserts in bounty). What was included was the most delicious stuffing WITH generous nice chunks of smoked pork belly, the most delicious cranberry relish with pineapple and macadamia nuts, a pan of garlic mashed potatoes, a tray of brussel sprouts and green beans, not just sage gravy...two generous containers of it, and turkey drippings. Enjoyed the smoked turkey bones which made the base for a delicious vegetable soup. This was my first experience with HISteaks but certainly won't be the last! Why the deduction of a star? While the food was delicious, getting someone to take the initial order was a little cumbersome. Also, while the time for pickup was designated, when I arrived about 20 minutes after the assigned time, the turkey was not ready. Instead I had to wait about another 20 minutes. The counter girl said they called me (which I did see two missed calls from a number I did not recognize) but no message. I don't answer possible scam calls, especially on a holiday. If they had left a message I would have called them back...or better yet, if any message was left telling me of the delayed pickup time...I certainly would have appreciated that. For starters, the set up for this place can be a bit confusing. You order on the right but then you have to go all the way down to the left to pay and pick up your order. It sounds simple enough but the first time I went I tried to go to what I thought was the obvious area for ordering. They pointed to the side and said "order there." So I went and ordered and then they sent me right back to where I had been and said "pay over there." Anyway, I go here when I just want to eat some quick and tasty steak. I like the horseradish sauce the best so far and I usually order a half pound of steak and sea salt fries. The fries are super thin but they are crispy and delicious. The steak isn't totally melt in your mouth, but it's a good quick fix if you're craving some red meat. I'm not sure if you can order it to your liking. It seems like they just cook it medium and then it rests, so sometimes it's more like medium well. Tip: If you order the burger and fries it takes about 10 minutes, so if you don't have time to wait then you might want to order something else. Also, the iced tea lemonade is delicious! There's one girl who seems to always be working when I go. I think her name is Helen. She's a hard worker and very polite. I love that she says to "have a blessed day" when she hands me my order. Workers like that help me to associate the place with a positive experience and I'm so much more likely to go back. Great job, Helen! read more

It came with white rice and a green salad. The salad contained kale and spinach. The shrimp tasted a bit too salty. It tasted cold and over seasoned. But the service needs an adjustment. This place is located inside Foodland Farms Alamoana. Once you enter through the main entrance, it will be on your left side past the customer service booth. The food was delicious and fresh. I personally liked the Loco Moco and Ahi Katsu more than the steaks. There's also multiple sides you can choose from. Service right now is not as fast because there was only 1 person making the food and cashiering at the same time. They also have a hiring sign so they're currently understaffed. I got the steak plate, the mix plate (steak and garlic chicken were my choices), and a pound of smoked meat. (Shrimp and ginger shoyu BBQ chicken are also available.) All the meats were juicy and tasty. The portion sizes were good, especially considering the prices. I was worried they'd be small, but they weren't. You have your choice of several sauces/dips for the steak. I got the garlic butter since that's low-carb friendly. You can get kimchee coleslaw instead of salad. I also liked that rice was not forced on me. I opted for the salad with no rice. White or brown rice, with or without furikake, is available, along with steak fried rice (extra cost). The salad was of fresh mixed greens. Salad comes with a vinaigrette dressing, but it's not a straight vinaigrette. There was a hint of citrus in there - maybe yuzu? So instead of pouring it on I dipped the greens to minimize the carbs. There's also a burger, with or without fries. I was so hungry I made one low carb misstep, which was to order the garlic chicken, which is breaded. It didn't look like it in the photo and I wasn't thinking. I usually like these things with lots of sauce, so I tried to choose the lilikoi bbq sauce as well, however she said that it already comes with the guava sauce so she didn't give me additional..I imagined it coming with a small cup but then nothing came with it. This is one of my favorite places to get grab and go steak. I frequent this establishment monthly if not more often. The service could be a little more warm, but other than that the food is consistently good and the options are great for small gatherings/game night/movie night or other situations when food won't be the main focus of an event. The last time I went, my steak was very rare. They didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked but normally they will go medium rare (which is ideal for me). Either way, their smoked meat (I assume its pork based on the texture) is my favorite offering on their menu. Their salad is decent but it looks like a garnish instead of a menu item. I prefer their steak fried rice to the normal rice. Lastly, their Lilikoi barbecue sauce is a compliment to just about any meat. This place is a strong 8/10. read more

I walked through Shirokiya and didn't really find anything I wanted today so walked over to Foodland Farms. I was thinking maybe a poke bowl but checked out HI Steaks and saw the Buddha Bowl which the fish of the day, vegetables and quinoa. It sounded perfect and I wouldn't feel guilty about eating ha ha. Today's fish was ahi and on the bed of quinoa was fried kale, mushrooms, garbanzo beans, beets, cucumber, cooked red bell peppers and avocado slices. On the side was I think a lilikoi dressing. I'm weird and often don't use salad dressing so I didn't really use it. The vegetables tasted good on their own and didn't need the dressing. The ahi was fully cooked (not seared or raw) and wasn't dry. I loved the fried kale the most. The garbanzo seemed to be previously fried but were soggy and not crunchy so that was the only miss. If it was crunchy or just not even fried I'd like them more. It was $13.99 so a bit pricey, but for the quality of the ingredients it is reasonable compared to prices of food at Shirokiya. If you're looking for a relatively healthy meal at the mall, get the Buddha Bowl! read more
