    Top Sirloin Steak Plate

Respectfully, what kind of steak is white and why is every piece dry?? This made me lose my appetite.

This place is located right inside Foodland Farms in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. I've passed by it several times before when I was in town but decided to finally give it a try yesterday. We got the Steak, Garilc Shrimp, BBQ Shoyu Chicken, Fried Rice, Potato Salad and the Kimchee Coleslaw. The portions were huge and everything tasted pretty good. For the steak you have a choice of about 4 different flavors (Lilikoi BBQ, Garlic Butter, Chimichuri, etc), the Fried Rice was very flavorful and the Garlic Shrimp was good (just hate the shell). I didn't care much for the Potato Salad but it wasn't terrible and my Dad who has a high spice tolerance said the Kimchee Coleslaw was spicy but good. For the amount of food you get I feel like price wise its a little on the high side but its not bad. The 3 plates we got cost a total of $58 (the Fried Rice option is $2.99 extra per plate). I recommend giving this place a try!

The food was above average but a little pricey. My plate lunch came out to $21. I got the Ultimate Mix Plate (bbq chicken, steak, garlic shrimp) $17.99 with an upgrade to steak fried rice for $2.99 more. They didn't give that much protein. It just looks like a lot because it was sitting on the fried rice. They gave a lot of fried rice. I chose potato for my salad of choice with a side of lilikoi bbq sauce for the steak. The chicken was moist and tender. It was the best thing on the plate. The four piece garlic shrimp was coated in flour, deep fried and the garlic butter sauce was drizzled on after. I could tell the shrimp wasn't fresh as the meat was a little mushy. The steak was nicely seasoned and tender, but served at room temperature.

I always pass by this place whenever I'm shopping at Foodland Farms and finally decided to try it out today. I'm so disappointed that I waited this long! It was SOOO GOOD and I definitely can't wait to come back again!

Got mixed plate: steak and garlic chicken. I went the store at 3pm(they close at 8pm) so it was not busy but I needed to wait for 10 minutes after placing the order. The employees were kind and polite though. Garlic chicken was good: it went well with my brown rice. I didn't like their steak: it was hard, dry and didn't go well with chimichurri sauce. It was a bit disappointment after 10 minute wait....

It is like a fast food set up

Located inside the Foodland supermarket at Ala Moana shopping center. Once you enter the supermarket, you can find this place on the left side. The set up is like a fast food place, you order, pick up, find a seat at the common area and enjoy your food. We ordered two items, the daily special "Smoke prime rib", we asked for having fried instead and it was $3 extra. The smoke favor of the prime rib is nice and rich, if you never try a smoke prime rib, go give it a try, it was surprising good. I ordered the steak and garlic shrimp, the steak is very chewy, ever it is at medium rare, kind of disappointed. The garlic shrimp is very good, both me and my wife love it. We also order a small coke, dinner for two set you back $50. No the cheapest price for a quick take out dinner. For my steak, I only rate it a 5 out of 10, for my wife's smoke prime rib, 7.5 out of 10. If you don't want to dress up to go to a fancy steak house but craving steak for dinner, you can give it a try. The staffs are nice, location is convenance, lots of tables and chairs. What I will do next time is to order one steak plate and go to Foodland and get a poke bowl, we can share both items for dinner, that will be a nice combination!

Food was prepared fast and it was good. I had a good service. The portion is a good size so one is enough for very hungry person or two meals for me. Probably we got the Ultimate Mix Plate. Ultimate Mix Plate, you can choose 3 choices from steak, BBQ chicken, garlic chicken, garlic shrimp, house smoked meat, hose smoked pork candy bacon. Choice of white or brown rice, and green salad or potato salad. There are eating area right by this place. It's also eating area for the Foodland customer. It's inside the Ala Moana Foodland. Located right after the coffee shop.

I came here and wanted to return. I got a dish that was quite good. It came on a bed of spinach and was the meat, candied bacon. And although it looked like a tiny bit, it was represented in the end product. I saw some sample plates with prices and don't remember what the name of the dish was. I think it was a bowl, and I ordered it with spinach because I thought it would be healthier and I wouldn't need to look for a salad. Wouldn't have been hard in Foodland, but it was an extra step that I didn't want to take. The only hiccup was that the person plating my dish used the scale to measure the meat. Not a problem, except that she was measuring shrimp and I'm allergic to it. Also, she was going to use the same spoon to measure my meat. But changed her mind. And the stickiness of the sauce was a little off-putting. The flavor was good though. This wouldn't be a destination spot for me. But if in the area and a touch hungry, I may stop by for something else.

After many, many Steak plates and burgers from HI Steaks it was time for a review. This location is in Foodland Farms Ala Moana, near the cashiers. I must admit that they have one of the better burgers I've eaten, but with Steak in your name, well... The Top Sirloin Steak Plate ($13.99) comes with your choice of different rice, Asian Potato Salad or Green Salad and 5 different sauces to choose from. You can also order mix plates with Garlic shrimp, BBQ Chicken, Garlic Chicken or Garlic shrimp. The steak can be a hit or miss, leaning on the higher percentage on the good side. Bowls and other plates are available like their Smoke meat, also a good choice. Check them out, a good option when you're on the area. 3.5 - 4 Stars

when I order something online via mobile or on DoorDash... I expect the restaurant to work on my order according to the time that I issued the order. The whole idea was to order ahead and by the time I get there, the food would be ready. According to the DoorDash app, it would take between 20 and 25 minutes for the order to be complete, and it took me about 20 minutes to get to the restaurant. There were several people ahead of me, and I even waited patiently until I could speak to an associate. Once I told her that I had a mobile order, I was expecting her to just give me my order because at that point it should've been completed, she realized That "Oh! You had an order?!?!" and then proceeded to work on it just right then and there. So I had to wait a while longer for order that was supposedly done (but wasn't) ... I was thinking to myself, why did I go on DoorDash to order food that I could've just arrived there and ordered it myself? I was hoping that my food would just be ready and I would just get up and go, but I had to wait for everyone in line in front of me until it was time to finally receive my food. As you can see on the DoorDash app, it says to skip the line and to pick up your item, they say this because it is assumed that they had received my order and was working on it as I was on my way to pick it up. That wasn't the case tonight! Don't get me wrong, HI steaks has pretty decent food. Just make sure that if you wanna order ahead of time, that you actually get there ahead of time and don't even bother about making the process more convenient for you by ordering via mobile because they don't pay attention to their mobile orders and you might as well just arrive there in order right then and there. You'll get your food at the same time.

Still waiting on Thanksgiving meal pickup...supposed to be ready half hour ago.

Wow, HISteaks you delivered well this past Thanksgiving. I had seen a post on FB about your Thanksgiving meals to go. The price was right. The menu sounded delicious. Visited the HISteaks at Ala Moana, which is located just inside Foodland Farms. Ended up ordering and prepaying the package which included a whole smoked turkey and fixings (see picture attached). Turned out to be memorably delicious. No dessert was included in the package (which I really like that way...always delicious homemade desserts in bounty). What was included was the most delicious stuffing WITH generous nice chunks of smoked pork belly, the most delicious cranberry relish with pineapple and macadamia nuts, a pan of garlic mashed potatoes, a tray of brussel sprouts and green beans, not just sage gravy...two generous containers of it, and turkey drippings. Enjoyed the smoked turkey bones which made the base for a delicious vegetable soup. This was my first experience with HISteaks but certainly won't be the last! Why the deduction of a star? While the food was delicious, getting someone to take the initial order was a little cumbersome. Also, while the time for pickup was designated, when I arrived about 20 minutes after the assigned time, the turkey was not ready. Instead I had to wait about another 20 minutes. The counter girl said they called me (which I did see two missed calls from a number I did not recognize) but no message. I don't answer possible scam calls, especially on a holiday. If they had left a message I would have called them back...or better yet, if any message was left telling me of the delayed pickup time...I certainly would have appreciated that. Thankful for the otherwise good service and delicious food.

We came here a couple of times. Usually the food tastes decent. But the last time we ordered from here the food tasted different. I ordered the garlic shrimp plate. It came with white rice and a green salad. The salad contained kale and spinach. The shrimp tasted a bit too salty. It tasted cold and over seasoned. But the service needs an adjustment. Maybe we arrived here later in the evening. But the cashier allowed another couple to come in front of us - even though we arrived earlier than them. When we mentioned it, the young lady did not apologize or even acknowledge her actions. What happened to the customer service?

We both ordered the ribeye steak, mashed potato, asparagus and fried rice. Both ribeye steaks were cooked to the exact doneness. The size of the ribeye steak was pretty big. Luckily I was very hungry so I finished my steak. The asparagus was very delicious and the mashed potato was very delicious too. Our server, Elijah did an excellent job answering any questions and was very attentive to what we ordered. When the meals came in. He even asked to double check the doneness of the steak by cutting it right down the middle and it was cooked to perfection. I don't remember the last time I went to a steak restaurant other than my birthday, so it's very rare to go to a restaurant and order steak. So this was a large treat to me. The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere with the lighting dim and the music very soft. This restaurant was very busy luckily we just wanted a seating for two even though they asked if we had a reservation and we didn't so we got lucky.

Our…read morereservation was for 5:00 p.m., during the restaurant's advertised happy hour, which runs until 7:00 p.m. Before arriving, we had looked at the happy hour menu online and assumed those selections would be available during that time. We were seated in the dining room and ordered drinks, but no one mentioned that happy hour was restricted to a different seating area. It was only after we received the dinner menus, noticed the happy hour selections were missing, and specifically asked our waiter about them that we were told the happy hour menu could not be ordered in the dining area. By then, we had already ordered our drinks at full price. I think this is something the restaurant should make much clearer on its website and during the reservation and seating process. If a 5:00 p.m. reservation places guests in an area where the advertised happy hour does not apply, that should be disclosed before they are seated, or at minimum before they begin ordering. The difference affects not only price, but also the food selections available and the overall dining experience. Our group was actually a little stumped by the regular dinner menu because the options were much more limited than what we had been looking at online. I asked specifically about the Scallops Dynamite because I do not tolerate spicy food well. I told our waiter that I did not like spicy food, and he explained that the dynamite sauce could be served on the side and that the scallops themselves were basically seasoned with seeds. Unfortunately, even without the sauce, the scallops were extremely spicy. I could barely eat them. The heat was intense enough that I drank my entire glass of water and then much of my daughter's trying to cool my mouth. When the waiter came back and asked how everything was, I told him directly that I could not eat the scallops because they were far too spicy. He smiled and walked away. There was no offer to replace them, remake them without the spicy seasoning, suggest another entrée, or even acknowledge that the dish was not what I had been led to expect. That was probably the most disappointing part of the experience. At a restaurant at this price point, where many items are à la carte, I would expect the staff to be more attentive to whether a guest can actually enjoy the meal, especially after the guest specifically asked about the spice level before ordering. There was also a smaller moment that reflected the overall lack of attention to detail. Our guest of honor arrived wearing two leis, and the waiter immediately said, "Happy Birthday." He had to correct him and explain that he was actually leaving the islands. A more polished approach would have been something simple like, "Are we celebrating anything special tonight?" It could just as easily have been a birthday, promotion, retirement, anniversary, or farewell. I dine out and travel frequently, so I understand that not every meal or service interaction will be perfect. But several things missed the mark here, and together they changed what should have been a special farewell dinner. We will not be returning, but I do hope management takes the feedback constructively, particularly regarding clearer disclosure of the happy hour seating restrictions and how staff respond when a guest clearly cannot eat the dish they ordered. My advice for first time diners is ask where you will be seated if you're hoping for a full menu option during happy hour. The website is misleading.

There was so much delicious food we asked for take out containers for the oxtail ramen and tender grilled beef. We had to pass on dessert. Actually my melon float was like a pretty dessert. Hubs drank a lychee soda. Highly recommend this restaurant. Come for the food, atmosphere and friendliest staff. We even caught a glimpse of their very young boss who also greeted us when he arrived.

So thankful for restaurants that open late. We thankfully found street parking and this was the…read moreonly place open. How lucky for us! Customer service was terrific. Since it was late, we noticed the back of house staff help the front. Everyone was so friendly and food comes out fast. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food was a bit too flavorful - we all agreed that everything was slightly salty. I could also say portion of some items may not match price, but I understand inflation is increasing at an alarming rate. So I'll leave money out of this. Crushed cucumbers were interesting. We couldn't decide if eating it with chopsticks or spoon was better. With chopsticks, you might not get enough sauce. But you could taste the layers of flavor. With a spoon, you get too much saltiness. The spice hits at the end. The tako karaage were a little too chewy for us. Beef tongue was so tender. A definite must order. I dont think it needs rice though. We also ordered the late night nikumiso but it didn't come with an egg, which the menu said it should. We tried handful more items but we'll be back to try the oxtail items, as it sounds like that's their specialties, but takes extra time to prepare.
