This place is pretty busy, seems to do a fair amount of take out orders. The price is right and at the appetizers (poke with chips and the cucumber salad) were tasty.. The fish and veggies in our rolls seemed to be fresh, but man oh man there was something super funky with the rice.. It was like it was too wet, or mushy, or over/under cooked and pressed to tightly, Im not sure.. All I know is the rice was horrible.. We are typically lovers of Ahi Sushi on Calloway but decided to give this place a try. The sushi wasn't too bad, but very small portions. The table itself wasn't clean, and the experience of this restaurant was not the best. I would not recommend this place, the employees are not friendly and it's just awkward. The service is horrible. Our server was not friendly, didn't smile once or check on us besides taking our order. Our drinks never got refilled at all. We were done with our food for about 15 minutes just sitting there waiting for our check, there was one other table in there eating so there was no excuse for the horrible service. We came here on a Friday night last month. I was so stoked to try this sushi place and all the crazy variety of rolls they have. We ordered yellowtail collar, some rolls, and their baked oyster. BAD IDEA = Baked oysters While their food tasted great, I was the only one that had the baked oysters that night, and I came down w/ major food poisoning all night long. My husband felt fine; he didn't have the oysters. So, watch out if you end up ordering the baked oysters! You may end up w/ the worst runs for 3-4 hours after your dinner!!! What a bummer. We got dinner and every sauce that was delivered with our food went bad. It was super sour and fizzy, almost carbonated tasting. We had poured the sauce on our rolls before we noticed something wasn't right. We called the place, not even to suggest a refund (which was absolutely warranted here), we called to inform them of what happened and to just check out the sauce. Super pricey for what you get. 2 rolls and 2 hand rolls was almost $100 after the tip. Our rolls weren't even good enough to finish. The waitress was fine but spoke super quietly. Ok now that we have more than 25 check-ins and we've been traveling in the last three months it's safe to say we eat here probably twice a week when we are in town. Yes this place is this good!!! First and utmost they have fresh fish, great service and fabulous menu. Just recently they started a special: Lunch appetizer and 2 rolls $15.95, Dinner appetizer 3 rolls $19.95 what a deal and so much food to eat. My favorite rolls are the 911 and the crazy monkey omg they are amazing. Chris, Sam and all sushi chefs do a really good job. Always fresh, rolls are tight and tasty. I really think this place has the best in town. IMHO It is a small place but we always go early and never have a problem getting a seat. We did go on a Friday night and it was a little crowded, but that just made me feel that I was not alone in my opinion of their food. If you are looking for white cloth napkin type restaurant style keep driving. It's not McDonalds low budget but they are a mid level restaurant and have done some upgrades in decorations recently. Husband and I popped in for an unplanned lunch. Sat at the bar. The people working and chef was very nice. They brought a complimentary cup of miso which I liked. Husband got the langostien tempura. The pieces of it were overly breaded and lack seasoning. So it taste like a big greasy fried puff. The roll was bland too. I can't remember the name of the roll that I got, but it was the same- lacking seasoning and not much sauce over the top. So taste more fishy. We had a hard time choking this down. Grabbed some sush with some friends last night and it was bomb. The lemon tree was phenomenal! So refreshing yet savory! Sashimi was fresh and generously sized. The beer was cold and the service was good. Now the reason for 4 stars, the place is very plain and the big table for our group was in the hallway next to the bathroom. Though I appreciate the air fresheners in the bathroom, it was overpowering and became a focal point of our conversation at some points. Maybe a curtain or a vent or something to make it feel like you're not sitting next to the bathroom. Go ahead, trick me. Anyhoodle, I'll be back again for that bomb sashimi and lemon tree. Just bad. I ordered a maki roll platter Friday evening and it really was just all around dissapointing. Of the 3 containers of wasabi, 2 of them were a weird watered down consistency. The rolls were all loosely rolled and extremely difficult to pick up without the contents falling out or them falling apart completely. The fish looked like it had been cut up with a dull knife. Some of the pieces were overpowered with mayo flavour. The entire platter looked very rushed and unappealing. They threw in a "promo" order of spring rolls that I believe was probably just sitting around. Definitely not made fresh as they were ice cold through and through. As if they'd been ready for hours and they were just looking to get rid of them. I called them to discuss the quality and they proceeded to place all the blame on Skip the Dishes!! I watched the order on the app and I can tell you there was nothing wrong with the delivery as the driver drove straight here. Besides, what was wrong with my order would have never been caused by a long delivery or anything the driver could have done. I will never order from here again. Not just for the lack of quality and refusal to take responsibility for the poorly made food, but for the completely rude interaction I had with the restaurant when I tried to discuss the issues! The man had zero respect for what I had to say, refused to listen to me, and told me to complain to Skip the Dishes for a refund. She was like that's normal.......No it's not. I ordered it two weeks ago only avocado. Had to add my own. And we ordered smelt egg nigiri. She said no, that's a side.
