The outside is this wonderful crispiness goodness and the insides are tender and juicy! The following sauces are our favorite - Jalapeno Mayo, honey garlic parmesan and peach habanero. Sweet and spicy used to be our favorite when they used to garnish it with nuts! Then nuts were replaced with sesame seeds. Last time we went, even the sesame seeds were gone. Still tasty but not as great as they used to be. Siracha bbq was okay. Garlic parmesan fries are heavenly! Get them! At this time, there's a 10% off offer if you check in on Yelp so make use of that while you can! I'm giving it 5 stars but do want to note that service is a hit or miss. The last few times service has been good but also have had instances where we got super slow service or they took down the wrong order. Hi Wings is certainly, HI up there on my list of recommendations as far as chicken wings go. A great selection of various Korean styled chicken entrees as well as a selection of beers and sides. All are reasonably priced, and the entrees come with a great portion size so no worries on leaving wanting more. Now of course the wings, you can get them in either 5 or 10 counts and served with a sauce of your style. If you're looking for something stable I'd recommend the sweet and spicy or the honey garlic parm. As far as either battered or naked, that's up to users preference but all wings that I've tried they've come out meaty and juicy, they style that wing lovers want. Reasonably priced and sized, if you come hungry 10 is probably enough to fill you. If you're looking for something a little bit more unique I'd recommend looking at the Chicken Winner (entree) area. I'd go for the garlic lovers as it's as they say for any lovers of garlic with a nice blend of sweet and savory. Service has been consistently good. All the servers I've had are very nice and very well informed on what each entree entails if needed. If you're ever in the mood for chicken, 'wing' it on with all of your hunger. After going 5 more times, I've decided that Hi Wings is amazing. Korean-style crispy chicken wings that are better than BonChon. I recommend the JUMBO BATTERED WINGS. Pick your sauce(s) from a list. The sweet & spicy sauce is so good (not that spicy at all). I also love the sweet soy sauce and the garlic parmesan sauce. The peach habanero sauce is interesting. It's been mild some days and VERY spicy other days so you may be in for a spice-level surprise if you get it. This place also has THE BEST FRIES in Austin. Get the garlic Parmesan fries. The crunch is super flavorful, even when no sauce or dry rub involved. The meat is tender, the right amount of juice and saltiness. But you don't feel overwhelmed by the grease. Can easily eat lots of chicken. The sauces and dry rubs have unique flavors. Our favorite is the lemon pepper rub. The lemon sour is very forward but it works well with the basic salt and pepper flavor. Second favorite would be the green onion chicken, which basically is battered fried chicken with shredded green onions and horseradish/wasabi-based sauce. Get the sauce on the side so you can still get the crunch. This is for those who love bold, spicy, oniony taste. The green onions and the sauce cut the grease beautifully and enhance your sensitivity to the savory fried chicken! Oh the pickled radish here is pretty epic. The perfect sweet and sour proportion! After so many friends recommended us to try Hi Wings, I finally went ahead and ordered through Yelp this afternoon. The cooking time took a good 40 minutes (estimated time was 40-60 minutes on Yelp) but pick up was easy and fast once they sent out the "your order is ready!" notification. Staff recommended us to heat the fried chicken in the oven at 375 degrees for 5 minutes after we get home. I used an air fryer and set at 400 for 2 minutes and it came out perfectly crunchy and nice. The pickled radish was the perfect match for these fried chicken, balancing the greasiness with acidity. Yum. Since this is whole chicken and not just dark meat, some pieces can be a little dry. If you're all about juiciness then make sure to skip the whole chicken items. I actually never had traditional Korean fried chicken tossed in sauce when I visited Seoul last summer but did enjoy TongDak at 論峴蔘雞湯, will have to try those out at Hi Wings for our next visit. read more
