Not your regular hibachi grill spot, Hibachi One just made it to the top of my list! I made a reservation early in the day for a group of 8, and the staff was waiting for us with friendly faces and showed us right to our table. My mom does not speak much English and our waiter was bilingual and was very kind answering her questions, taking her order in Spanish, and making her feel comfortable. The chef who prepared our food was very funny and friendly to everyone. It was everyone else's first time here and he made sure to give an entertaining show with plenty of puns and tricks. When it comes to the food, there are a few things that set it apart from other hibachi grills. The ginger dressing they use is great! In their friend rice they add a mix of finely chopped carrots, yellow onions, and green onions. And the BEST- the chef asked if we wanted spicy fried rice and spicy noodles. What he did was cook sriracha sauce into the fried rice and hibachi noodles. It was a great kick of flavor! He mentioned he could also prepare it with hotter sauces like Thai chili or habanero if you prefer. read more

If you're tempted to Teppan, move on to another review. I'm always crushing on sushi. Based on a few visits -- one elaborate, two brief with light bites -- I'm currently sitting at a Good about this place. Service has been good, in that I've enjoyed some of it (efficient and friendly at the sushi bar), and not others (they don't seem to have a good system for taking to-go orders over the phone). The ambiance is quite nice, it's a gorgeous space, very spacious and that's led to slight delays in grabbing a table, occasionally. And the food has seemed to go the Good direction, generally, wherein I've really enjoyed the standards like spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls, but the more elaborate picks, like the Fire Cracker or San Francisco, have been a little much for me, very heavy on big flavors that drown the fish. That said, they offer a really extensive selection of inspired rolls around here, possibly the most I've ever seen, so if you're up for adventure I'd recommend it. And speaking of adventure, thank you, Hibachi One, for moving into an area of the west side that's virtually void of local restaurants. Really bad service as you can see in our pictures. Manager not helpful and would not do anything to work with customers. Seems to care less about who he serves and more about the $$$$. They sit us at a table which had a bad vent. We complained, he just hid away from us until we found him. Me and my family had reservations on 12/16/23 for a party of about 10-15. Our original reservation time was 7:00pm which we called a week prior to let them know there at the restaurant. When we got there they didn't have our reservation time down. So arrived at 7pm and weren't seated until almost 9pm. The male host in the front was being extremely loud and obnoxious talking about us in front of the entire party. When we were finally seated and the cook started cooking and serving everyone their rice my brother in laws plate had what looked like a crumbled up gum wrapper. The cook apologized and remade the rice. After eating a small amount of my plate and still having a lot leftover I put it in the to go box. At the bottom of my plate there was a hair that looked like had been burnt or somewhat cooked into the food. Our server called the manager to our table so I could let them know I found a long piece of hair in my food. The female manager NEVER apologized. She just offered to give me half off the plate stating "she couldn't determine how much of the food had been eaten" since it was in the to go box all mixed together. My wife and I visited here on a Friday evening. Dominic did a great job as our waiter. He checked on us about five times and answered our questions and gave advice on dishes. This location was quite a drive, about 30 minutes. Almost at I-40 and Coors. We arrived about six and barely missed the dinner crowd. On Dominic's advice we ordered a bottle of warm Nigori sake, a free bowl of edamame courtesy of Yelp, a very crunchy and delicious spicy tuna roll, and a chirashi bowl (18 assorted pieces of sashimi on top of rice). They give you nine pairs of sashimi, chef's choice, of which I recognized makerel, octopus, salmon, tuna, and whitefish. Some of these pieces were very fishy smelling. Although they tasted okay, they gave me the impression that they weren't fresh. We paid a total of 42.30 for this meal, not bad for 2 people including alcohol. Not really sure how to review this particular experience. Tried to grab dinner on a Wednesday night, was told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. Okay, no problem. 25 minutes later, no update, open tables in the dining area, sushi bar and teppanyaki tables.... no one is being seated. We couldn't even go to the bar for a drink to wait for a table, we were told only dinner service was being served in the sushi bar area. Just moved to Abq and thought we'd give this a try based on Yelp and Google reviews. If I could give it 0 stars I would. The hostess and waitress were very professional, kind and at the end apologetic but the food and service of the cook was not. We brought our one yr old, who is typically great at dinner for at least an hour. The restaurant was not busy and we were sat immediately. Five minutes in and we have placed our order...awesome...30 to 45 minutes later the cook shows up. At this point the baby was about done. I took him outside so the other patrons could enjoy their meals and my wife had ours boxed to go. She paid for the meals, $60.00, and brought the box outside. She then says the filet mignon is well done even though we ordered medium rare. She does not like confrontation, so I took the box back in for the refund. I asked for the manager and the hostdreeess very kindly said the mgr is not here, will the owner be ok for you to speak with. Of course I said even better. The hostess did explain the owner does not speak English very well, but she would try to assist with the translation. A few minutes later the hostess explained the owner is too busy to come down and to give me the number to the manager to call tomorrow. Delightful adventure for the palate. Snuck some veggies into the egg drop soup, which I normally don't like because they get mushy, but was impressed at the crisp texture. Ordered tempura Chicken and was very happy that the chicken was light, not ouly, and did not taste of oil. The calamari appetizer, although on the smaller side in comparison to Longhorn, had a very delicate and slight spicy sauce that complimented it very well. This review is more of a really high 3. But for rating purposes, I rounded up. Visited for the first time on a Thursday night to celebrate mine and my boyfriend's 4 year anniversary. When we walked in, the restaurant was surprisingly large and didn't seem too busy. We were originally planning on going to the hibachi grill, but opted for just sushi instead. We were seated right away. Our server did not greet us promptly, but took about almost 5 or so minutes to get to us. Although the restaurant looked empty, it seemed that the servers were extremely busy and could barely keep up with their tables. We saw multiple servers literally running through the restaurant in efforts to give good service. This seems to be an easily solvable problem that should have been addressed by management. When our server finally greeted us, he of course seemed like he was in a hurry to get to other things and spoke to us very casually. In fact, it was a bit too casual for our liking, especially because he knew we were celebrating our special day. We ordered our drinks and our server didn't come back for another few minutes. We weren't too bothered by his lack of being there because we could physically see that he was taking care of his other tables. When he came back, we ordered an appetizer, got a free edamame (with our yelp check-in), and our entrees. However, after ordering our food, our server seemed like he wasn't busy anymore as he was just standing next to the POS system talking to his coworkers. So we kinda expected him to be more attentive to us - which he wasn't. That was kind of disappointing. Also, he was talking about a lot of inappropriate things loud enough for all the tables around us to hear. We definitely thought that all the servers could have been a lot more professional. It kinda sucked that we had a mediocre serving experience for our anniversary. Our food, though, was super yummy. We started off with Tuna Tower which was excellent! A good amount of food for an appetizer, too. For our entrees, we shared a Dynamite roll and a chicken teriyaki. The chicken teriyaki was served on a bed of sauteed onions which was soooooo good. However, I do think that the teriyaki sauce could have been a bit thicker. There was also a lot of ginger in the sauce, which I am not too fond of in teriyaki. The roll was great. this is a family fave for birthdays and other celebrations. we have a little dude in tow when we dine, so finding spots that are kid friendly is a plus. he LOVES the koi pond in the entryway, which is great if there is a wait. i highly suggest making a rezzo, especially if you have more than 3 in your party. you can even call them en route for a last minute table placement, as they are wonderful about accommodating you. we've had several different hibachi chefs, and all of them have been fun and engaging. the food is standard hibachi fare, nothing out of the ordinary, heavy on salt, and super yummy. we tend to go with the surf & turf. you can also order from the sushi bar, and they have some interesting rolls. extra bonus: if you check in in yelp, you get free edamame! read more

Thoughts on Hibachi One: Service by Monique was phenomenal! She deserves praise for her attentiveness. If you're into more traditional rolls, this may not be the place for you. They do, however, have delicious tempura rolls and deep fried veggies if that's your thing. We ordered the salmon maki rolls, fire cracker roll, mango lobster roll, and eel roll. The lobster was the most expensive yet lacked lobster! My opinion, it needed slightly more to justify the price. I think this is an excellent place for date night or family dinner because the space is beautiful and the menu choices are pretty extensive. Bathrooms are updated and clean. They have rotating specials throughout the week and nearly exceed another popular sushi place on Coors. I am dying to try the hibachi now that I know what the sushi is like. read more

I frequent this location at least once a month however this particular experience was rather a disappointment. The reason why is because the staff was not prepared to serve us. I live 5 minutes away from the restaurant, and boy, I sure was craving for some good sushi. They have a terrific menu: sushi, sashimi, and teppan grill(s). They are able to accommodate just about anybody: couples, families, and big parties. Everything is fresh and tasty! When you sit at the grill, the chefs are very entertaining and like to crack jokes--make sure you tip them handsomely. They have a variety of beers and Sake. Go ahead and order a Sake Bomb!! We had such an amazing time at Hibachi One. This was our 3rd visit by far our best experience. Due to recent issues I have to have my food with no acid. Our chief prepared my food with no soy or teriyaki sauce . Everyone else's food was great. Tiffany, our waitress, was fantastic. Never an empty glass. Absolutely love this place! The service was fast and friendly---thanks to our great server, Monique. The dark ambiance was so romantic. Husband and I chose a booth near the tatami rooms. We ordered the calamari and tempura shrimp for appetizers, the Scallop Hibachi for our entrees, and the tempura cheesecake for dessert. Did I mention the wonderful pear sake? It was amazing. This place is a pretty good hidden gem. Located fairly close to i40 on North Coors, it's pretty easy to get to. The food was really good, and they have great prices. The lunch specials are unbeatable. Our chef Ray was great to talk to and a great entertainer and cook. The restaurant seems pretty slow during lunch and we overheard that the place is slow during the week. I assume that is why the host/serving staff is so inattentive. Our server was nice the couple times she came to check in, but not really informational or around. When we left the hostess and server were both sitting in their phones. At least the server jumped up when she saw us. The hostess didn't even bother to look up when she said goodbye. I'd like to get the word out about this place, but there definitely needs to be some training in the server/hostess area.
