Came here a lot and it was okay-general buffet food-but gave two stars because the last time I went everyone got sick with tragic avalanche diarrhea and ruined our vacation. We left the next morning for the beach and everyone had by to stop every five minutes due to stomach illness. One person even got the flu--which isn't really Hibachi's fault but the food poisoning was. We all ate very different things and everyone still got sick. 5 days on the toilet instead of being on the beach was what this place cost us, so yeah I won't be going back or recommending it to anyone, but like I said: I've gone many times and came out fine, but the one time I bring my family we got poisoned so forget it. Be careful-and don't eat the oysters for sure. The wait staff are wonderful though, no complaints there. read more

This place is awesome! It has something for everyone. It's buffet style. I've never seen such variety in a Japanese restaurant. It's a perfect place to take someone who doesn't like sushi; or one who does. They even have an elaborate dessert bar. It's nice aesthetically as well. Service is great! Six of us went there Thursday night (03/28/13). Lots to choose from but...BLAH! It was not good! Unless you like tasteless, overly oily food. Their commercial advertises $8.88, but it was closer to $9.50 before tax and I didn't want to argue over a few cents. Our waitress was nice and quick to fill our drinks. Decent Chinese food but not impressed with the sushi...the sushi is put out in such large quantities for each type of roll, that it takes forever for the turnover such that a new, fresh roll is created. Koi, in Hermitage, is much better for sushi. I did not try the Hibachi part of this restaurant, although there was a pretty long line for it, and it looked like there were quite a few options to put in your hibachi order. I will say that there were quite a few non-Chinese things particularly if there is someone in your party that might not care for Chinese, sushi, or hibachi. read more

There are reasons that it's only middle of the road for me. For my food choices (vegetarian, bordering on vegan), it's probably somewhat up there. First the good.. .Great selection of rice wraps, including a vegetarian option (watch for the avocado in the middle). I only had one, because I don't do heavy doses of white rice, unless it's basamati. I always take a dive into their kimchi and stringed seaweed. In the cooked section, I take a portion of mushrooms. There isn't a big selection for me, considering the healthy food choices I have chosen for myself. Since this place is located in Tennessee, you would expect to have a number of options where the food is fried beyond recognition. Everything in these sections are breaded, and greased up. I don't do any of that. However. Their stir fry prep area, I question a few things. I don't think the person there understands proper cooking techniques.... I know as a vegetarian, I would expect them to use different utensils for the meat options and ones that only request vegetables. That did not happen. Also, the amount of butter that is used is shocking. It's like anywhere from an 1/8 to a 1/4 wedge. After ingesting that stir fry, I had some issues with my throat because I hadn't eaten dairy in over 6 months. it's not really good for you anyway. In the past, I have considered bringing my own selection of oil for them to cook with. I might contact the manager of that location and see what their take is on that. So, this is why I won't give it anything more than 3 stars. I know there are other, healthier options, and I might pursue those next time I'm in Nashville (few months from now) At least I'll suggest some to my friend next time. read more

Better managed and cleaner than the typical Chinese buffet. Pleasant temperature, clean tables, well lit. Staff are all polite and friendly, also above average. However, I thought the food was mediocre. Whether it was the sushi, the miso soup, General Tsao chicken..it was all just okay. The high point of the visit is the Hibachi grill. We stopped in town to see friends, and they chose Hibachis as our meeting place. I was very impressed with the buffet selection they had to offer, and the sushi was wonderful. We ate there shortly after they opened, around 11:30. I am slightly concerned about the sushi and how it would hold up for any amount of time not being kept cold. It was just on plates sitting on the counter. I know it was fresh because I watched the man make it, but what would happen 3 or 4 hours later? Does it just sit on that plate all day at room temperature? Having been food poisoned by sushi before, this scares me. The staff was extreme friendly and helpful! The food does not seem to stay out as long here as at other buffets and there is something for everybody even those that prefer "American" food. To knowingly charge what they do for the food they have should be illegal. I won't talk about the sushi because I didn't have any after feeling sick from the other food I had however I can't imagine that sushi sitting out for hours at a time is a good thing. It looked nice though and I'm sure it couldn't compare to the other items. The chicken was literally squishy, drenched in sauce that tasted like it had been made way too long ago on rice that had the consistency of rice that was stored and reheated several times. HOW DO YOU MESS UP RICE? How? I saw countless flies and batted them away as I filled up my plate and ate my food. If that's not enough this woman approached my table and confronted me about how she thought I was "with the devil" and "resisting the Holy Spirit" and would not leave our table after 10 polite requests. Even after I filmed her doing this. I know that's not the restaurants fault however when I felt harassed and looked my my waitress she was no where to be found. We did not see her once. I will say the management handled it quite well and were kind and professional. As expected I got pretty sick when I got home. Overall I'm 100% positive that Chuck E. For the money, this place has the merchandise !!! Best variety of any place like this. My favorite? The grill !!!! You select whatever you want and give it to the grill-man and he cooks it immediately. I like the shrimp with teriyaki sauce, toss in some rice and a few eggs and I'm a happy eater. There is much more than the grill. Amazing sushi bar with a huge variety. Desert bar is very good with a great variety. 3 or 4 kinds of fish, etc. The best part ? My husband and I have tried many buffets in Nashville. This is the best one. A good assortment of sushi - also fresh, they make little animals on the sushi area :)) There is a spanish dude that does the hibachi, always hooks it up with the sauce and cooks it the way you like. They have a great selection of food too. As far as Asian authenticity, it is not the best (you won't find little octopus, fried tofu, or fish with eyeballs.) However, out of the buffets in Nashville, this is an overall a great place to dine. read more

Horrible, horrible experience. Arrives at 7:30 PM (they close at 9:00 pm) Fried seafood (shrimp/fish) were unrecognizable. The pans were piled high of all foods even though they only had 2 customers inside. Sushi was literally WARM and some was discolored from sitting out so long. (They even had the cooling vents under the sushi covered with plastic wrap which prevents the refrigeration system underneath from cooling the food above.) Noodles were not even up to room temp. Rangoon was greasy/soggy and not hot from sitting so long. I ate 2 bites and left within 5 minutes of sitting down and paying their full price of $16.65 (with drink). Not even a salad bar at this price. I mentioned the problems to the server and manager who replied they were getting ready to close (even though that was 1 1/2 ours away). This place used to be great when it opened but it has gone by the wayside as many other restaurants when they forget how to give good quality food and service. I WON'T be back here. Thanks to O'Charley's being down the street, I finally got a decent dinner. read more

We stopped by here after church for dinner. We needed to get the kids fed. This sounded like a good option. We were wrong. First give away was the price we paid. Around $50 for all 4 people. ( 2 adults and 2 kids). We get seated at our table. There was rice from the last guest which wasnt to big of a deal as it was 2 small pieces. We get are food by this time we have been here 10 mins already and still havent recieved our drinks. The waitresses that were over the are were sitting down talking and on their phones. Still no drinks. We had to be there 15 mins before the server even noticed us. We get our food and my husband stated that the rice had a gritty flavor to it. Most of the food was over cooked. And not flavorfull at all. The bathrooms needed some serious attention. But with all of the staff except for the hibachi grill guy they were either standing around or on their phones. This cannot a place I am willing to return to at all. Plus right before we left there was another guest that stuck her finer in the chocolate fountain. That's gross and unsanitary. So visiting Nashville, took a stab at finding decent buffet chinese anywhere, much less Music City. This place earns its 4 stars, for a great selection of food of different ethnicities. I stuck with asian type fare. The nice thing is there was actually food with spice and flavor! General Tsos was good, had Egg Fou Yong on buffet (which is rare) and it was good also. Jalapeno Chicken was yummy and had just a little kick. Pot Stickers, Rice and Lo Mein fine also. Desserts normal, Chinese donuts great. My compadres had good reviews also, for the Fried Corn, Fried Oysters, Corn-on-the-cob and Roast Beef. For cleanliness and variety, definitely a 5 star. The service was good, not much to judge there - showing us to the table and bringing water. The quality of food - bland and/or overcooked. If you are looking for quantity, good selection and pans are kept full. This does not reflect on the establishment, but my word parents, no one wants to dodge your kids as they run through the buffet screaming. It is not cute and they are not endearing.
