I have been coming to this store for many years and usually it's a pretty pleasant experience. Today was not that day. The woman working behind the counter today must've been having the worst day in history because her demeanor was not at all pleasant or how you would expect a person in a service industry to act. I feel like a lot of their merchandise was overpriced for what it was. I understand a it is super vintage from 20+ years ago but some of the items I looked at were falling apart and still $50+. We did find some cool things, but the woman's attitude made us not want to spend any more money or time than we already had. Hopefully her day gets better. read more

Hidden Treasures is one of those places that technically should be cool because, a. it's in Topanga b. it's housed in an old shack off the side of the road in the middle of the canyon c. there is a pirate at the entrance. However, don't be fooled by all this superficial chic. The place is seriously over rated and over priced. I mean, it's okay, but if it was located in Van Nuys in a mini mall, you wouldn't give it a second look. read more

Topanga, how I miss thee!!!! Probably one of the best vintage stores on the planet. I have been here countless times over the years and have quite a wonderful collection of clothing/jewelry/random items... from rusty old keys to a gorgeous full length 19th cent gown to mukluks to a gazillion silk scarves... i could go on! For Halloween they have awesome costumes. They have a pretty decent sunglass collection too. With all the stuff in this funky shop, they're pretty organized. Everything is categorized- tshirts, long sleeved, jackets, sweaters, skirts, mens, womens etc. And do not forget the wonderful $1 bin in front of the entrance, before going in. All cheap burningman crap. The only good piece, a faded dress from the 1930s with a split seam (which they should have fixed as it only takes 2min) was $200 horrible merchandise, $200 for a used repro Hawaiian. Perfect place for annoying Coachella rich girls to buy ugly tutus and cheap fake fur. More than half of the product in this store is new merchandise. It should be illegal for them to call I a vintage store. Shame as I used to love this place but it has totally gone to crap. NOT worth the long drive up as this hidden treasure has been found out years ago and here is nothing good left to find here. read more

Horrible customer service!!! Called and asked if they would buy a lot of items. The woman that I spoke to was very sure on the phone she would want them and was very interested. I called again letting them know we would be late, around 4:51pm, as the woman who was interested told us she needed to leave by 5pm and she still encouraged us to come by at that time. When I got there a super sweet girl greeted us. I explained who we were and she said to bring the items in. When we went back out to our car To get more bags I noticed she had taken some of my stuff into the back behind a curtain. I asked her if I could go to the back with the items. She proceeded to tell me no that's not how they do it but in a very nice way. She then went back and a lady with red hair came out and said she didn't have time to go through the items she had an appointment. She could have taken what she wanted already I wouldn't have even known because they took my items behind the curtain! She didn't even go through any of the items brought. After saying on the phone she would want them. I explained that I talked to her on the phone 3 times that day and told her what time I was coming and she was the one that told me to come. No apology at all! Just said to take our items and leave. It was so rude! I drove an hour out of my way because she told me to come. She didn't even care to look at my items! Horrible service would not recommend or give my business to ever. read more

I have to admit -- for about a month I was really looking forward to coming here but was pretty disappointed when I finally got around to it. Their "antiques" are just random overpriced things you could find at a thrift store for half the cost. I only saw one item that was a true antique -- a beer stein from 1900, which was pretty cool. The blouse and dress collection is ok but overpriced and you can get way cuter stuff at JetRag for half the cost. The men's selection was average, but again, just a bunch of Ely shirts for $35 when you can get those somewhere else for about 5-10. If you're in Topanga/Malibu for the day it's worth checking it out but if you're a vintage/antique fanatic like me, you'll probably feel indifferent to it. read more

I thought the first room we walked into was all there was, i became slightly bummed because the drive there seemed like it took eons, however there is plenty more to dig through and look at in the back few rooms. The mothership. The mecca. Beam me up! I'm obsessed with this place. I know a good vintage/thrift store when I meet it and this place hands down, is the greatest! The only issue I have is that I don't have enough money to buy the whole trove. Clothes are in great condition, the prices are insanely reasonable for vintage. Every time I have been here, I feel like it's magic because everything fits, looks great and is worth the price (something I have yet to experience at any of the vintage stores in East Hollywood). I love that they don't limit themselves to clothing and they also have kitschy home decor, accessories...you name it! I only wish this store was accessible by public transit because I seriously would be here every weekend (maybe it's better that they aren't then). Kudos Hidden Treasures. I find the cutest stuff here! An orange cashmere tank top (what?), leopard nighty, a cute cashmere hoodie, and amazing scarfs! Even a classy fifties black fitted lace dress... I am not a tiny person, and I find stuff that fits me here, that's always appreciated in the LA area.... I like that it's funky, random, and the staff has been super helpful to me in the past! Mary has been there a long time, and has fabulous taste! I look forward to my visits to Topanga and find some hidden treasures! read more

A friend of mine and fellow vintage junky recommended this place to me a couple months ago. At first glance, I loved their selection of Levi shorts and band t-shirts! They offer vintage and consignment items, each being unique in its own way. Around Halloween, part of the shop carries costumes. You can find accessories for any idea you might have. Unfortunately to make room for the Halloween attire, they need to do away with some of their regular items. Regardless, I will definitely be back to explore this place again. Come with an empty schedule because sifting through the racks can be very time consuming! read more

My fav store in greater LA! the kind where you're kinda digging around cos you don't know what you're gonna find--HIdden treasures indeed! And there's the strange exhiliration of shopping in the middle of nowhere in a wooden cabin- it's the Anti-Grove. Rad trinkets here-- unique vintage jewelry, super cute scarves, a funky gifts, elegant gifts, one-of-a-kind gifts, pretty retro aprons, reasonably prices fancy soy candles, colored fishnets, and the list goes on! The prices range from decent to downright steals. Sweater heaven! Tons of cashmere and the softest of fabrics! The clothes are second hand but there are no pit stains or weird smells or tears, they're in great shape. An employee said that the store's owner won't reveal his source to anyone, hee hee. What a great place to spend a sunday! It's a gorgeous drive up PCH to Topanga and the town is so cute and un-LA. There's a little coffee shop next door where you can get a snack or cappucino. I've been coming here for a few years now, and I really love the energy of this spot. It's super quirky and cute, and there are definitely some great finds. The vast majority of it is more expensive than other vintage/consignment shops in LA/Malibu, but I do think the quality is largely there and therefore justified. This place was pretty big and had a great selection, but it wasn't overwhelming by any means. There was plenty to look through, but I liked that it didn't feel cluttered inside. I also loved the aesthetic of the sunken pirate ship theme. It sounds kind of dorky to say this, but it really did make shopping in there a lot of fun. What really made this experience so exceptional, however, was the staff. When I noticed that Hidden Treasures had a large assortment of Halloween costumes, I got a little excited. The staff wasn't weird at all about how many costumes I tried on. One of the employees there was really helpfu. She had a really great eye for putting together a costume and she made some really great suggestions that I didn't even think of. She was genuinely interested in helping me find what I needed and wasn't interested in pressuring me or pushing me to buy anything, like I've experienced with some sales people at similar stores. I walked out of there feeling really great about my costume. This is my new favorite vintage clothing store. I will be back again soon. read more

Jutta & I were on our big adventure day and she brought me here! After the beautiful trip through the canyon we came upon this great shop. I found a pair of worn out moccasins for $19 that were sooo cute! Slips are my favorite items to look for in vintage/thrift store and Hidden Treasures had some real cute ones. No one was at the cash register or in the store so Jutta and I wondered around by ourselves playing dress up for awhile. Until a very strange man came in looking for birthday cards and Jutta got a bad vibe and went to find someone running the store, now I'm thinking I'm in a creepy Rob Zombie movie! I think he just crawled out of the canyon and was up to something strange so we made sure he kicked rocks. Back to shopping....tried on a couple of fur vest for the fall session but ended up not buying anything. I've gone by plenty of times and never checked it out until yesterday. Surprisingly the store has a lot of really cool merchandise and a very pleasant staff. Even though we only bought one item, it was a very fun trip. The store is located on the bottom of a hill of some of the most gorgeous scenery in Los Angeles. Topanga Canyon is a beautiful place and I love seeing all of these small businesses and all with great artistic vibes. read more

I heart Hidden Treasures. Its well priced for nice vintage. And there's also some newer things. It's right across from Abuelitas in the canyon. The girls are really sweet and their clientele is too. Generally happy canyon folk or celebrities being low key. Great store. The whole front room is vintage dresses, there's an entire room dedicated to men and they have an awesome selection of vintage slip dresses and coats. They don't have a lot of shoes or vintage jewelry. (although there is some) I go there at least monthly... but I live down the road. ;) read more

I've been finding treasures here for over three decades! Since they were at the old location across the way!! This unique vintage shop has never lost its charm and the prices are still reasonable. My daughter grew up getting her Halloween costumes here and now I bring my 10 year old nephew. He is fascinated by the dinosaur and cool decor. This place is just as cool on the inside as the outside would suggest. Since it's a converted house, there's room after room of "treasures" to look through, not to mention it's all very well organized and set-dressed! This is not your average grody vintage store. They sell their really valuable goods on their etsy, but there's loads of fur coats, cowboy boots, tea hats, exotic clothing and other interesting goods on sale with a pretty high turnover. Most of the stuff is very reasonably priced for good vintage fines ($35 for some coats!) but there's also a lot of fun $1.75 chests full of goodies that pop up from time to time if you're on a tight budget. The staff has always been really cool to me even though sometimes I come straight from the barn not looking (or smelling) my best. They've got a cute shop dog with a really goofy tongue that cruises around sometimes too. read more

A great place to stop by and look for goodies. I picked up a brand new Volcom Stone suit for $3 in the discount bin up front. I also got a great A-2 Jacket for $28. My sister usually finds more than I do, but its nice to go along for the ride. Oddly enough, they have a decent selection of old military uniforms; flight jackets, trench coats, even Mess Dress jackets. They do have a good influx of stuff, but a great deal of what they have went out of style in the early '80s, and it will be there for quite some time. Still, a kitchsy store I can find no real reason not to visit. read more

I have been going here ever since I was little. It will always be my favorite vintage shop!!! The decorations (as well as the location) make it seem extremely magical. Its a great place to find sweaters and flannels and other cool things. Not to mention the people who work there are always so friendly! It can be a little bit expensive though I love it more for the novelty/ glamour of it not as much the prices. There is a dollar chest out front that you can find some cool stuff in though! read more

I stop by here all the time when I'm on my way in to the valley and i have never walked out empty handed. My favorite finds have been a black beaded cocktail dress, a fur coat, and a dooney and bourke purse that i get compliments on all the time. They have a great selection of jackets, cardigans, and scarves. All the dresses are in the first room and if you want to nab a steal then go early and weekly. My only problem with Hidden Treasures is that their shoe selection is very small and rarely changes. Other than that I'm incredibly addicted to going to this vintage shop! read more

I loved Hidden Treasures. I wish I had anticipated finding so many treasures so I would have brought more money. I enjoyed it so much I took my aunt back a couple of days later. She found a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans for like $20/30 bucks. I only walked away with one top, but it's super cute and I get compliments on it every time I wear it. My aunt later took a friend and they did some more shopping. I will definitely go again my next visit to Cali. I will say this, HT has very limited parking. My aunt and I visited on a Saturday which was fairly busy. We parked across the street at a restaurant. read more

Don't expect cheap prices especially in this area. Nonetheless this is a great shop. So reminds me of the great shops that were around in the 90s. Worker was friendly and let us look around we stopped here after a long hike and didn't really come to shop but to browse and that was fine with them. They weren't pushy to sell either. God forbid if you go there 15 minutes before closing. My first time visiting the coastal towns and I wanted to check out someplace different. I chose Topanga Canyon . The second I walk to the bin outside and start looking at the scarves I was greeted with a very curt "Sorry, I have to take the bin inside, we are closing in 10 minutes." There was no warm greeting, and the guy outside with the pirate hat, stared at me like I was an outsider. Employees are a reflection of the store. Granted, Topanga is tucked away in the canyons, and fine, So, I am not white and don't look like I am from Topanga, but that' no reason for the female cashier on Tuesday evening, October 22 and the "greeter" guy outside watering the plants to just stare at me, like I should leave. All I wanted to do was find some cute vintage stuff and get halloween costume inspiration. I worked retail at one point in my life and no matter how many stragglers came in before closing, I treated them with courtesy and respect. Anyone who knows the canyon traffic one has to endure to get to the store, deserves that customer service. Yeah, I heard celebrities have frequented here, and I cannot help but think, that they would have been treated a lot better by the staff here. Cute store, but the staff gets grumpy. Stick to Goodwill. read more

As Joan let on a couple of years ago, Hidden Treasures was a mini vacation from the outside world. It's entire set-up is meant to entertain, and they don't go wrong. It's a beautiful sight, fun and imaginative. There was a time when I would have given them a 4. They hand picked random articles of clothing, from scarves to knit hats, leather jackets, to second hand jeans. On Halloween they get all decked out with costumes and antique clothing galore. I picked up one of my favorite hats from them in 2003. In the far back they have big heavy knit blankets. All really cool, right? In the past 2-3 years, their items have gone a bit downhill. They now carry new clothing as well as vintage. Last time I was in there, I had basically lost interest in actually purchasing anything. .They have a cute pup who roams the property, and are rather friendly. If you are cruising through Topanga on a pretty day, definitely check them out, you never know what you'll find... read more

This shop is really great. I have rarely come out empty-handed and have occasionally scored an amazing deal. The prices are really reasonable for the quality. This is another one of those "locals only" places that is usually overlooked by thrifters. If you are into leather, they have a really large leather jacket selection for great prices. I got a 3/4 leather trench once for $40 and my boyfriend has a leather blazer from there for $28. Perhaps the hippies living in Topanga aren't looking for a great leather jacket ;-) I have also gotten a couple cool dresses there in the past. The parking is limited out front, so I recommend going on an off-day during the week. read more

Hidden treasures is a really cool place with the most random/awesome things anybody could find. I describe it as a "horde house" but everything is for sale lol. All the employees were very nice and I could tell they obviously love their job so I'm assuming management is good as well. I took my girlfriend here on the way up to paradise cove for a date and she loved it. Everything is reasonably priced and not cheaply made. I visited during the fall so it was all Halloween stuff however they change the theme by the seasons. I recommend to anybody who likes antiques or just likes visiting cool shops. read more
