I believe it's still their soft opening so hours aren't optimal and the menu is still being changed around (they've added food items recently). I've been here a couple times but something that I noticed each visit was that there are a lot of guys that frequent this place.. ?? Hide Out's interior is unique and evokes a different vibe from other boba stores/cafes in the area. However, it can get loud even if it's not packed due to the music and floor. Macarons: I believe they're from Duverger's Affogato: not bad- basically two scoops of vanilla ice cream with espresso and topped with cocoa(?) powder and a mint leaf. They need to put it in a container with a wider opening because the wine(?) glass definitely made it more difficult to eat. This is a great place to get food with your friends or do your work. I went here for a group project and it was very peaceful. I got the #hashtag fries, strawberry rose lemonade, and the fried cheese cake. The hashtag fries were okay. The lemonade was delicious, I definitely recommend that! This place took a lot of work and gas to get to.. not Hide Out's fault but my friend's lack of direction. Also, don't try using Waze to get to this place...it led me to the mobile homes on the other side of this place. There was a good amount of parking for this plaza, probably because there's not many worthy shops to visit here or that it was later in the night that I've arrived. When you walk inside, it's a hipster type of feel. I like hipster atmosphere. They sell drinks and macarons (I didn't look at the other things they might have). My friend got the Logan Honey Green Tea and I got the Hibiscus Mango Green Tea. Our drinks came with hipster mustache sleeves. They were both wayyyy too sweet for our liking. I probably should've asked for it to be no sweet or less sweet. Both our drinks costed around $4 per. Hide Out has a variety of interesting drinks that I would like to try.. maybe sometime in the near future as I do not live in the area. I was stuck between 3 drinks and the girl in the front helped me decide. She was pretty nice. Also, there's this craze for the Hokkaido Milk Tea, which led me to believe that I chose the wrong drink to try my first time. I got 3 macaron total since my first macaron that I bought was stolen by a friend. The flavors I got were blueberry lavender, earl grey tea, and rose. My friend ate part of my blueberry lavender which made me get the other two flavors but after one bite he said I could have it back... which shows that that flavor isn't for everyone. Came here for the first time today (Friday night around 9pm) and was surprised to see the cafe/ restaurant was still packed! They clip boards with their menus on it so you basically just read through the menu and order when you're ready. My friend and I ordered the Nutella, banana waffle and I ordered the tiramisu drink. Okay, so, I'm a HUGE fan of tiramisu so my expectations for this iced drink was very high. For both the waffle and the drink it was $12. Anyways, when the tiramisu drink came, I was overwhelmed by the presentation and size. They served it in such an elegant glass and presented it so beautifully! It really looked like tiramisu in liquid form haha! I couldn't wait to try it so, I took my first sip and....... Was lowkey disappointed. In my taste, it tasted about 75% like tiramisu but definitely not exactly like it. But! Props to them for creating such a drink! Even though it was exactly what I expected it to be, it was still great. I liked it enough to think if I came back here one day, I'd still order it again. So, the Nutella and banana waffle was AMAZING! The presentation was adorable and shaped as a flower and it looked too beautiful to eat! It was crispy and wasn't too sweet or too bland. They also give you one scoop of ice cream in the middle of the waffle but since there was so much sweetness going on in my mouth, I could hardly tell what ice cream flavor it was. I was right in front of it and couldn't find it .. The only way I knew how to get here was because I was confused and checked yelp to see a pic of the storefront and saw one of the shops with an actual sign from the reflection of the storefront's window. First time here, the staff were really friendly. The size of their products were big enough that I didn't feel like I was being ripped off. The music playlist is study appropriate, and the volume is just right. The whole store is very clean and uncluttered. Great blend of simplicity and design. Who would have figured such a s small little place would be discovered in such a random and secluded plaza? I definitely would not have. However, I've been hearing so many people raving about this particular little spot and it got me thinking: what exactly is this place called Hideout and why is it receiving so much love? So, given all that hype, you can definitely tell that I have always been pretty curious and excited about coming to this place, and what can I say? This place definitely lives up to that hype spreading itself around not only Rowland Heights, but in other areas as well. I guess my curiosity served me well, need I say more? Anyways, onto the ambience and decor of this place. I would just like to comment that the interior is absolutely adorable and you feel right at ease when you enter. It gives off this very chill vibe which would make any customer feel settled and relaxed. And not to mention, the decor is pretty vintage which was to be expected of given that the place is more of a quiet, to-yourself kind of place. And since I came here on a school/work day, the place was pretty much empty which made it even better and just a more relaxing atmosphere to be in. Overall, the interior is very clean and the ambience is perfect for anyone who just wants to sit down and do their business (eating/drinking, studying) in peace. I definitely do not mind sitting here for hours watching time fly because it's just so calm here and absolutely void of any tension. The food and drinks did not disappoint! Even better, everything is affordable, well even if it's just my budget talkin'. I love how there is a lot of variety in their drinks. For starters, the Hokkaido milk tea and Rose milk tea was definitely the way to go. Both of them were pretty delicious given the sense that the sweetness was pretty mild but was still rich in flavor. I ordered the peanut dry noodles and despite the fact that the peanut aspect of it kind of turned me away at first since I'm not really a peanut person in general, I definitely do not regret getting it because it actually turned out pretty good! It was actually pretty filling too which made the meal and the amount paid all the more worth it since I wouldn't want to be leaving on an empty stomach. And not to mention, they give you quite a lot of fries which is contrary to its pretty cheap price around the $2-$3 range and if that isn't more of a reason you should get this then I honestly do not know what to tell you except for the mere fact that you are missing out big time. Overall, the food and drinks are definitely deserving of all that praise they are currently receiving. Oh, and the service here is pretty great as well! While my friend and I were eating, one of the workers came up to us and asked how the food was and even chatted with us for a little bit before going back to his job which I found very sweet and endearing :) The service IS a tad bit slow though which is primarily the reason why I took off a star, but I still strongly appreciate their hard work on getting our food to us! The decorations in this place are extremely adorable and often times, when I'm here studying I end up catching myself taking breaks just to stare at the cute decorations. It doesn't have too much room inside, and if it's busy you might end up sitting outside. There are several small tables to sit at and a large community table that I prefer so I can spread my books around while studying. The drinks they serve are unique, at least to me, and I have yet to order a drink that I didn't enjoy. If you ask for specifications on a food item, often times they will forget, so you have to stress the customization. It's happened too many times that employees will keep you standing at the cash register for an extremely long amount of time until someone finally comes up to help you. Sometimes, they'll speak to you as if they're annoyed to have to serve you, which usually ends up annoying and offending me. Usually though, staff is great and will let you joke and smile with them. If you're here to study and need the Internet to do it, be prepared to use your phone as a hot-spot the WiFi can be extremely slow. There was no AC in the shop so my friend n I chose to sit outside. It was chill out so it ain't a big deal for me. Yet, I had to breathe in second-hand smoke because other customers were smoking next to us. The bathrooms were very clean. Milk teas are 24 oz ave price is around 3.75-4 if I don't remember them wrong. Over all, it's okay. I think when they are fully ready, it may be better. Big fan of their Osmanthus Latte. Came here on a saturday night with my parents because I wanted to see what the plaza has opened up but realized that most shops in the plaza are still under construction. I've been wanting to try out Hide out for awhile so we figured might as well try it out since it was like one of the 3 places that was open here. I believe that their selection of items are expanding over time so I might update this review eventually but for now it's a solid 3. Their entrees are pretty forgettable imo. They only have 5 entrees you can get and so we got the red wine beef, the pork, and the drunk chicken. They were all solid dishes but I wouldn't come back to eat here as of now. For every dish that I mentioned, it comes with the entree along with a bowl size rice and broccoli that is steamed/cooked with garlic. I do like the garlic broccoli haha. Anyway so there's that...but we've come down to ordering an ice mocha, tiramisu latte, and osmanthus latte. My dad ordered the ice mocha which was decent but it prob would taste better hot. The cashier/waiter/bartender would recommend you to get it hot for most coffee which I agree(despite hating hot drinks) that latte/mocha are usually better hot. Though I don't recommend the ice mocha, you can tell that they use good coffee beans to make it. The Tiramisu latte that I got was pretty good because there was that hint of tiramisu taste that worked pretty well w/ it until I tasted the Osmanthus. Being a big fan of Osmanthus already, though I thought it would be a weird combination with coffee, it worked wonderfully. Although, the cons to both hot coffees are rather luke warm than hot. we told the bartender this and he gave us an explanation about it but i don't really know how to describe it and type it here. Anyway, the osmanthus latte tasted wonderfully and it smells really good. You can tell they use legit osmanthus to incorportate with the latte and I really recommend people trying it out if you're already a fan of osmanthus. The place is kinda hidden hence their logo... cause you don't actually see a logo in front of the restaurant. they just have a standing post board that says Hide Out but it's next to the Stone Age restaurant for fellow yelpers that wants to try this place. I wasn't sure if it was a good place to go to study, I found a fair amount of people studying while enjoying their drinks and food. I a blue berry milk tea and fried cheesecake. Just left this place. It has quite variety. Come with empty stomach! I came after all u can eat KBBQ. Stomach was in FULL TANK. The Tiramisu Latte (*hot) came in a big cup. And it looks pretty. I'm glad I read the reviews before I came because I've never been to this plaza before and everyone's advice to look for the KTV sign really helped! After looking at some pictures on Yelp, I was 99% sure I wanted the tiramisu milk tea because it looks super cute like a potted plant milk tea and I love tiramisu! Of course when I got there I was hit with some major indecision because everything sounded delicious. I decided to get the tiramisu milk tea after all, but the hot version, which was decidedly less cute in a to-go cup. I didn't really think it tasted anything like tiramisu. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the tiramisu and a regular milk tea. My friend had the blueberry milk tea which seemed like an interesting choice and we shared the fried cheesecake. The fried cheesecake was kind of like a cheesecake egg roll and it was alright. The Hide Out was really busy on a Saturday evening and there were no seats left inside, so we ate at one of the tables outdoors. The inside is a little cramped, but cute in a hipster sort of way. Came here for the first time today. Ordered guava green tea and the MOP green tea. The Guava GT tasted better though. Although its not the best drink ive had. Also got 5 macarons...the rose one looks pretty and unique and is the best tasting rose flavored macaron I've ever had! Highly recommend this one. The other ones were coffee, earl grey, pistachio, and vanilla (the yellowish one...not lemon). I think next time I will get a box of rose flavored ones! I would give it a 4 but my experience wasn't that great. I would come here usually to talk and hang out with my friends, but last week I decided to try and study there. Coming on a weekday was actually nice. It was easier to me to find seats and the service was faster. I got the Rose Milk tea and the B52: The Rose Milk Tea was so good! I've had others where the rose is too strong to which it tastes more like I'm drinking an actual rose rather than a tea. But their Rose milk tea was the best one that I've had so far. The B52 was a popular drink, and the girl said it's like your drinking "cereal milk." It was really good but it seemed a little too sweet. I had to drink water to ease the sweetness level. The only thing I really disliked about this place was the amount of people smoking outside. I forgot that most asian plazas have a lot of smokers. It was too strong to the point where I had to cover my nose. I understand that's the culture, but I didn't order a milk tea with a side of cigarettes! This place has officially changed my mind on Hokkaido milk tea. I've always thought it was meh. I'll have to find a more local place to get it since this is quite a drive away for me. It's a sweeter than what I'm used to, which is a good thing for me, but maybe not for others. Shared the banana nutella waffle and was told it was a pretty decent size. It is, but not if you haven't eaten anything and wanted a meal. We were brought out forks with napkins and wondered where the knife was, but there's no need for a knife. The waffle is already split into bite sizes, which is great. The presentation is nice and the waffle is crisp with good flavor. Also ordered the original waffle, which was little heart shaped waffles with a scoop of chocolate chip ice cream, strawberry, banana, and whipped cream on the side. Not bad. In fact, pretty good. The waffle was cooked just right, with the outer being crispy and the inside being soft and fluffy. The scoop of ice cream was also pretty good. Very creamy. For drinks, tried the guava green tea and the MOP (mango, orange, and persimmon). The drinks were just okay. If the drinks were better, I would have given this place a four. The guava green tea tasted like a can of guava juice mixed with some green tea. The MOP tasted syrup-py. Wasn't too impressed with these two drinks. Maybe the other ones are better. The macaroons I ended up doing there 5 for ten dollars since it was 2/each instead of the regular 2.50. The flavors I got was orange chocolate liquer, salted caramel, pistachio, lemon, and earl grey. I like the pistachio and lemon it was crunchy and pretty good. The salted caramel tasted really odd not a fan. The earl grey was decent nothing special and orange chocolate I didn't like. My major dislike about the macaroons they were over filled with cream. I don't like it when I would bite it the cream would overflow out. The B52 milk tea was fine, It was actually sweeter than the Hokkaido milk tea. I recommend the Hokkaido milk tea, but it is sweet. I also ordered popcorn chicken because others said it was good. But it was okay. Not that spicy, A plus is that they add garlic. They were out of funnel fries, and it was only 1:30.
