The interaction felt uncomfortable, as she emphasized their policies for large groups and mentioned that they normally require a minimum of $145 per person. She ultimately allowed us to bypass that requirement as long as everyone ordered an entrée. Our waitress, however, was wonderful and provided excellent service throughout the meal. I ordered the clam and mussel pot, which I found surprisingly bland, though the bread was delicious. The rest of my group seemed to enjoy their meals much more than I did. Unfortunately, there were also some cleanliness concerns. A spider descended from the ceiling onto our table during dinner, and another bug crawled across the table. There was even a bug zapper in the corner of the restaurant that seemed to be going off constantly throughout our meal. For a party of seven, our bill came to around $700. Given the overall experience, the food quality, and the atmosphere, it felt a bit underwhelming for the price.

Since it was a glorious day of bright sunshine, coolish temperature and a very friendly breeze blowing, we had a time walking around the area. The surrounding area was lush and very green after the few days of rain! We had a lovely time taking pictures. My brother in law was very surprised about the camel story behind Camp Verde. Camels were used as experimental animals to carry provisions in the 1850's. They were stationed in this area. Unfortunately, the experiment failed because the soldiers hated the camels, who had a reportedly nasty disposition and soldiers ended up with motion sickness because of the animal's unusual walking gait. If you want to visit the area, now is a good time before the summer heat gets here. FYI, if you like Christmas, the gift shop here gets an early start in October! If you like Christmas decorations like my wife, come here and shop. They really fill up the gift shop with goodies!

I should have done a bit more reading and looking at the pictures. We stopped in on a mid-afternoon Sunday in early June. First impression upon entering through the front door was confusion. It was not really clear what the process was to order and get a seat. We approached the bar area and then noticed the "order here and seat yourself" signs. Several people came in behind us and so we felt a bit rushed to order. There were several craft beers on tap, but I was told I could not get a flight at the moment. I was able to get a taster, but with all the people behind me waiting to order, I didn't feel I had time to find out more about the beers before committing to a 16oz pour or lose my place in line. Shame on me for not doing my homework. We tried "The BEST Burger" and the "Pastrami Reuben", both with fries and two beers for close to $60 plus tip. The burger wasn't the best. It was sort of "meh". The homemade fries were good. The so-called Reuben was closer to a brisket sandwich than an actual Reuben. The meat was very mesquite-wood-smokey and then appeared to have been fried on a grill (definitely not steamed). It was very chewy despite being thinly sliced and had NONE of the flavor good pastrami has. The menu claims the meat is tri-tip, but tri-tip is known to be a tender cut. The meat on that sandwich was NOT tender. Cibolo Creek Brewery is in a great location (which sort of explains the prices) right next to the Cibolo Creek Trail and River Road Park and they do have a nice covered outdoor seating area with large family-style picnic tables. I may return to sample a few more of their beers and see if there is something I like better on the menu.

After a few minutes, the food is delivered. The burgers come hot and tasty! The pretzel bun is really a good way to hold the moist burger in place. Overall, the food is great. I held up the 5th star due to the steep price. Burgers should be served with fries and not be a side order. Who eats a burger without fries? Anyway, if you like to pay $17-18 for burger and fries, this is the place. Wagyu beef or not, fries should come free with the burger.

Well, look no further in this little town of Comfort, Texas. It's a cool little cafe and a gift store in "one". The menu offers out of this world sandwiches, delicious soups, interesting salads and daily specials. The desserts are incredible, all made fresh daily. REAL key lime pie, the best creme brulee you'll ever eat as well as bread pudding (with white chocolate and apricots) carrot cake, and panna cotta! They serve beer and wine. Some of which is made locally. High's offers vegetarian items as well and has the best meatloaf sandwich within a 300 mile radius! It's a short jaunt from San Antonio, Fredericksburg and Kerrville. Open 8:30 to 4pm and closed on Wednesdays. All of it made from scratch from the yummy muffins, cookies and sweets to the fresh salads, sandwiches and specialty items as well (High CHow Salad, Homemade Chicken Pot Pie, Zesty Beef Chalupas, Roasted Veggie Polenta). Lump Crab cakes made fresh daily, best tuna fish (all albacore) and pimento cheese you'll ever eat. Great spin on the chunky chicken salad with a hint of sourcream and red grapes. Not super cool inside but there were fans which definitely helped so pull up a seat next to one if possible if it's hot outside. Order at the front and take a seat and your food will be brought to your table. The woman up front was friendly and explained a little bit about the food and where it was coming from. She also let us know there was a little store inside the restaurant with items you can purchase. Good variety. However, be open to different things because one of the items we wanted to order was not available. I had the nachos and was definitely pleased. The pico that came with it was so good! Wish they canned that and sold it in their little store area. It was enough to split with my 2 and 4 year old. I had tried the pineapple Agua fresca and it was very sweet. Great option if you need something to cool off with but would choose the farmhouse tea next time as a better pair to my meal. It wasn't overly sweet and it was super refreshing. It is for sale in their store. I wanted to purchase some but wanted more info on if it was safe to consume while breastfeeding and wouldn't have any negative side effects to baby or dry me up but the only person who I could find that was working was tied up with another customer for quite some time so I'll have to check next time. We made sure to save some room for ice cream! Make sure you do too, yum! The also make these HUGE round loaves of bread. As big as it is I think it's a fair price. I will say it was a little pricey but we did know that coming in which is why we utilized a coupon we had for a "buy 1 adult entree and 2 drinks, get a second entree free" I appreciate them putting out those coupons because it did make us more willing to come out and try a new place. Also, I feel better when spending a little more eating somewhere when I know the food is tasty and also local and without a bunch of additives and it's quality meat and produce. Ready to come back again already and bring my husband along with us this time.
