Fried brussel sprouts, pita sandwich with carne asada, and a side of fries!

We found this place just with a quick search of restaurants for date night near Bandera; and we're coming back! The environment was very cozy, and even though they had a rehearsal dinner party to get ready for, the place was still very tidy and neat and the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly! We started off with fried Brussel Sprouts; which were good and you can definitely tell the difference of fresh and frozen; and these were fresh Brussel sprouts. I had the pita sandwich, and omg the chimichurri was amazing! I suggest you come with an appetite though! They give you a very good amount of food!

Okay where do I begin? The drive out is so pretty but you're thinking about the food. I had a hard time deciding. I had squash blossom quesadilla. I had it prepared with corn tortilla they mill. The freshness and flavor were so yummy! Served with green salsa, rice & beans. We also had chilaquilla, cappuccino, and a cinnamon roll. All fantastic. I wish I would've bought tortillas and eggs from the store. The store has meat, produce and dairy. If you are interested in fresh food & supporting local farmers hop in your car and get over here-you wont be disappointed. If you need more-Chef Mollie helped feed those impacted by the flood and as a community we need to support!

If you're looking for an authentic, self-sustainable dining experience in South Texas, The Barn at Sovereignty is the place to be. This restaurant isn't just about serving food--it's a way of life, built on organic, homegrown ingredients and a deep respect for nature. From the moment you step in, you're greeted by a one-of-a-kind country aesthetic that perfectly complements the farm-to-table experience. Nearly everything on your plate was grown right on-site--from the fragrant spices to the fresh tomatoes, and even the pasture-raised chickens and beef. It's the definition of real food, the kind that makes you rethink everything you've been eating before. I tried their patty melt, and wow--easily one of the best I've had! Served on house-made sourdough bread, it was juicy, packed with flavor in every bite, and paired with crispy fries and their unique, house-made ketchup. I also added their signature fermented hot sauce, which gave it the perfect kick. Oddly enough, despite how satisfying it was, it didn't feel heavy--just fresh, filling, and incredibly delicious. Craving a little something extra to take home? They have a small market shop stocked with goods straight from the fields, so you can bring a piece of this sustainable paradise back with you. And if you're feeling fancy, they also have a full bar and incredible sourdough pastries that are worth every bite. If you've ever wanted to eat something that was still attached to the plant or moo-ing yesterday--this is the place. Fresh, delicious, and unforgettable. Highly recommend!

Dogs lounge on patio throughout the day, very friendly.

Unfortunately, it was on the opposite side of the road so we had to turn around. The place was not crowded when we went in but had a few tables occupied. We ordered our food and sat down. We got presented with chips and salsa - very surprisingly delicious salsa! The food followed a few minutes later and we must have been hungry because the food disappeared pretty quickly. I had the beef street tacos and my wife ordered the puffy tacos. Mine were delicious by itself or with the sauce that were in squeeze containers. No matter, my beef tacos were good. They were full of meat with onions and cilantro. The cilantro was optional but I wanted it. My wife almost licked the plate. We probably need to come back and try the others on their menu. As for the ambiance, it's bright with a tall ceiling. It's located on a very busy corner - 46 and Main St by Cypress creek. Parking is in the back and you need to know Boerne well to find it. Overall, this place has good delicious food. We promised our relatives who are visiting us soon that we will take them here.

We ordered street tacos...my husband got the beef and I got chicken. They are completely customizable, so they'll be exactly what you want. I've been to this restaurant a handful of times and I've always gotten the same thing, but I have no doubt everything is delicious. They also have a cocktails and beer. Parking is behind the restaurant and there isn't a lot of it. They also have patio seating in the back. We got there right when they opened and it was getting busy right away. You can enter from the front and back. Only small negative is that they have tile floors and metal chairs, so it gets very loud and hard to hear the busier it gets.

However, they will charge you for a cup of water and there is a $.40 service fee which I cannot explain. At least there was no credit card fee, but the tip screen was waiting. To be honest, their bacon and egg basic taco is pretty average, nothing special, but their red spicy sauce definitely took it up a notch. Their potato sausage and egg taco barely had any discernible sausage to it. It's the communal salsa bar that really makes the tacos extra special. They do have a fountain drink station, bottled soda on ice and a pot of coffee by the order window. You can get quite a variety of mixed drinks like margaritas along with numerous beer choices, although no local beers. Because of the value and sauces, I would definitely come back to this spot again. And just so you know, they do not have a public bathroom here and they are closed Monday. Ten informative photos to fill in what words miss.

I traveled from Austin to Bandera for an appt.and chose El Jacalito based on its positive reviews. I ordered chicken enchiladas with rice, beans, and sweet tea. After one bite, I found the enchiladas excessively soggy and the beans unappetizing and lacking flavor. The chips were satisfactory. Because I could not reasonably eat the meal, I went to the register and advised the employee that I would pay for the tea but would not be eating the food. Rather than receiving a professional response, another employee became involved and made a dismissive remark to me, stating, "Well, good luck with that." Shortly afterward, the cook/owner came from the kitchen and confronted me in an elevated and confrontational manner, demanding to know what was wrong with the food. When I attempted to calmly explain my concerns, I was interrupted and told, "I've served ALL THESE CUSTOMERS and YOU are the only one complaining." I found the yelling, dismissive comments, and confrontational behavior completely inappropriate. A customer should be able to express dissatisfaction with a meal without being publicly challenged, belittled, or made to feel intimidated. I am not giving a negative review simply because I disliked a meal. Taste is subjective. My concern is the business's handling of a legitimate customer complaint and the lack of professional customer service demonstrated during the interaction. 0/5 for food. 0/5 for customer service. 5/5 for giving me a story to tell.
