We received both within a couple days and have shared the video and photos to everyone in our lives. Traveling solo, it feels weird to take selfies everywhere or worse, asking someone to take your photo. The tour was me and 2 other couples: one couple were newlyweds and the other couple were on their very 1st trip together (as a couple). (Honestly where do you go after a trip to a Hawaii?!?) We could not have had a group that meshed BETTER than all of us. Our guide Henry clearly knew "the good spots" because we didn't stop anywhere that anyone else was... he made us climb down treacherous "root ladders" and walk through the coldest water up to our necks but his ideas were always SO worth it. And he captured the best pics! I highly recommend this EXACT excursion because you don't have to worry about any photos. He has it covered, and trust me, it's truly UNFORGETTABLE!!!

We stopped in the market store and bought some organic lavender tea, brownies, and candy. I bought a sticker and my DIL also bought a couple of things to bring home for friends. There is seating with umbrellas which we enjoyed. It was another beautiful day in Maui. After the grandkids were finished, we went out to the large field. The adults enjoyed sitting in the grass and kiddos enjoyed rolling around in the soft grass.

There was no one else on the tour except one couple, whom we had no issues with. The 7 people on the bus was my family of 5 and one couple. 1. There was a hiccup in your booking system, you allowed us to book a tour because you did not close your online reservation window. If you were sold out why did the website allow us to make a reservation? Hence the "hiccup". After we booked the tour, we did move a flight around so this person could make the tour that we had a confirmation email for. Very unprofessional to email the next morning saying you were sold out AFTER we made the booking. Yes we did book late but if you were sold out you shouldn't have allowed us to make the booking plain and simple. We called multiple times because we were asking about pick up arrangements and were told to keep calling back to see when/if the tour filled up, because only then would they be able to tell us what pick up rotation we would be in. I wanted to know what hotel would be the first pick up, etc. I didn't care that our two parties were not on the same bus, which was why I didn't mention it in the booking. 2. Since you claim to have the proof that he wasnt speeding, why dont you show it? It absolutely does corroborate with the Google maps picture. I did move the camera to get a video of how bumpy the bus was DUE TO HOW FAST THE DRIVER WAS SPEEDING! But I'll include another video straight ahead where you can see how fast he flies past the mountain. As for your lies, you need to come up with better ones. I asked for a Spanish translator due to the fact only ONE person in our party spoke Spanish. The fact that you guys said we were speaking Spanish all day is hilarious because NO ONE IN OUR PARTY SPEAKS SPANISH except my mother in law, who didn't speak the whole trip. Let's add more proof that you guys are racist - when the driver picked us up II asked about the Spanish ear piece translator before my mother in law was there. The driver said no, he said I speak a little Spanish so I will do my best to speak to help you guys out. 5 minutes later he came up to my husband and started speaking Spanish. My husband told the driver he speaks ENGLISH. Louie said oh you were quiet miguel so i figured you were the spanish speaker. we were asking about translation for my mother in law. I'll also add he made multiple claims about how Latinas were "so violent" and people had to watch out for us. let's add to the review that not only are you guys liars, you are racist liars. Your tour driver is a liar, we were all sleeping on the drive back due to how sick/tired we were. Your tour driver is clearly lying to cover his mistakes. 3. We didn't ask the tour driver for ONE illegal thing AT ALL. Due to the fact he was an arrested convict (which you can find proof of by googling it) he made illegal stops on his own! He even mentioned how the rangers loved him and when HE chose to make the illegal stop in front of the waterfalls, the ranger allowed it bc they told him make it quick. We appreciate the opportunity but never asked him for one illegal stop. 4. I never said we missed anything, I said I couldn't help but wonder if we missed something. Since you want to be so detailed, we actually DID miss Ohe'o Gulch / Seven Sacred Pools (D) Charles Lindbergh's Grave / Palapala Hoomau Church Kipahulu scenic ocean views, St. Joseph Church Kaupo Ranchlands / Haleakala backside views / Maui's Last Lava Flows (D) Maui's Upcountry / Kula (S) 6. Let me also add one thing I forgot to the review someone in your company gave our tour guide my number and he texted me twice asking me for his tip which was EXTREMELY unprofessional. This is an extreme safety violation. He unprofessionally texted me "This ***** Just making sure I did venmo right.. If sent tip, I have not recieved..." at 7:27pm. And "If you could let me know.." at 7:56pm. For my safety, I should NEVER have received text asking about a TIP! Even if he was wondering about the tip because he wasn't used to electronics, you still should never text someones personal cell phone number. Since he did mention multiple times that he was a liability I was scared he was going to show up to our hotel since he knew my number, hotel location, etc. Where is the response to the bulk of my review??? Do you have an explanation for how we know all this information about him being fired from his last tour job? How the current owner was only allowing him to drive as a fill in driver as a favor? Why was he a liability? Bc he speeds and risks the lives of passengers? In one of my videos I do have him talking about the story of how his dad gave him money and guns to illegally transport. As I have over 500 videos from this tour, you guys are lucky I don't want to go through and find the hard proof I have. Where is your hard proof?

The answer was Yes, one can change into swimsuits during lunch before the black sand beach visit and then change out of them at a stop after the waterfall stop to be dry for the ride back to the hotels. A few days before our tour I received an email confirmation that included other useful information, such as bring along swimwear, towels, water shoes and a light jacket for the air conditioned van. I had not considered the A/C and I'm always cold, so that is a very welcome heads-up. On the day of our tour we received texts that the driver was on his way. Pretty close to the scheduled meeting time the van pulled up to our resort. The van was spacious with huge windows. Our tour was full with all 12 passenger seats occupied. Our driver/guide was Travis. He was born and raised in Hana and was a wealth of knowledge about Hana, Maui, and Hawaii. He seemed to be related to all the locals he passed on the road. There was not dull moment. Among the stops along the way were Maui Tropical Plantation for breakfast, Auntie Sandy's Banana Bread stand for those that wished to purchase, Wai'anapanapa State Park (black sand beach, also with a lava tube and a blow hole), Pua'a Ka'a State Wayside Park (usually calm enough to swim but the falls were roaring due to rain earlier in the day), and Ho'okipa Beach with turtles on the beach. Travis was an excellent driver and guide. We got great value from the cost of the excursion. One minor thing did bother us. We are Jewish and were uncomfortable during the praising Jesus sing-along. Regardless, we recommend this tour and especially Travis as a guide.

This was my second "Road to Hana" tour. I won't review the places the tour stopped at or visited. I…read morewill review the tour company and the services. Pickup was on time although they text us that morning saying the pickup would be 5-10 minutes early. While I appreciated the company's responsiveness in honoring my special seating request, our front (first) row seats on the bus labeled "Alaka'i" had a very narrow window that required us to strain our necks to see the views outside. I noticed that the other three Valley Isle buses on tours that day did not appear to have this issue. I provided the company feedback regarding this seating issue. In our humble opinion, these seats should not be sold. My advice: to avoid the kind of disappointment we experienced, you should always ask for seat reservations and note clearly and specifically to the company that you do not want the first row seats on a bus with seating configuration like Alaka'i's. If you don't and you are picked up last, you will risk getting stuck in these seats from sunrise to sundown. Regarding the amenities, the breakfast was underwhelming, consisting only of a pre-arranged plate of a few pieces of fruit and 2 small muffins. The driver did remind us this was going to be a continental breakfast. There are many versions of continental breakfast but this one truly disappoints. Additionally, the lunch provided, though delicious, was not from the "world-famous" Huli Huli chicken location as the guide led everyone to believe; instead, the guide brought pre-packaged boxes of food from another source. (Please see similar experience from earlier reviews.) My advice: feed yourself before they pick you up or bring something more fulfilling to eat on the bus between breakfast and lunch. Finally, while our driver was incredibly knowledgeable about Maui's culture and history, his demeanor was sometimes overbearing. He frequently called out guests for yawning or dozing off and insisted on undivided attention during his occasional politically biased historical recount. All this made part of the tour experience feel more like a classroom than a tour. He also ridiculed all the not-so-nice reviews he has received. He will probably tell you about this one, too. So buyers beware: your Valley Isle guide could be a bit too much fun for you. :-)

It was so lush with all types of fruit trees and produce - we even saw baby ducks that had hatched just the day before. The experience was a farm tour, educational workshop, coconut tasting, and cooking class all rolled into one. We really enjoyed learning about the multi-faceted coconut and about Ryan's journey with the farm. The coconut noodles he made us were SO GOOD. From start to finish, everything was well organized and comfortable. We traveled in a tall Mercedes Sprinter van, which made the drive much more enjoyable with less motion sickness than expected. The seats were comfortable and there was plenty of room to store personal items. Janet provided warm jackets and pants, which were greatly appreciated since temperatures at the summit can drop into the 60s and feel much cooler with the wind. She really thought of everything. We toured the summit area of Haleakalā, enjoyed snacks and dinner while watching a spectacular sunset, and then transitioned into an incredible night of stargazing. The telescope views were stunning--far more detailed than I expected. We were able to see so much, and the images through the telescope were truly unforgettable. Janet is exceptionally knowledgeable and did a fantastic job explaining astronomy, the night sky, and Hawaiian history and culture. She used a laser pointer to guide us through the constellations, making it easy to follow along and understand what we were seeing. No question seemed too small, and her enthusiasm was contagious. Most importantly, the entire experience was fun, respectful, relaxed, and full of good vibes. Janet clearly loves what she does, and it shows. If you're considering a Haleakalā stargazing tour, I highly recommend booking with Janet. It was an incredible experience that we'll remember for years to come. She provides you with a PowerPoint presentation at the end and pictures highlighting the stars! Above and beyond! You can't see the objects you will see without her high powered telescope! I want to start with the disclaimer that everyone is on their own journey in life, and because of…read morethat, experiences are personal and may be seen differently by others. I also want to apologize for revising this review twice; my first attempt was rushed and full of misspellings, and the second was a quick fix of those errors. However, after being home and having the time to relax and reflect, I realized there were details gnawing at my soul that I needed to share. While I could have justified the $250 price tag if the experience had met my expectations of what was included, I simply cannot justify it for the experience we actually had. I am left with a soured, bitter aftertaste in my heart for an experience that I wanted with my family. It is hard for me to give a five-star rating just because someone "tried"; I believe a top-tier rating must be earned through the experience one had, and Jan lacked in presentation, friendliness, and overall value. For our party of four, we paid $1,000, and in hindsight, we could have had a significantly better experience by using our own rental car and buying a high-quality telescope for half the cost. Don't get me wrong, the views were amazing, but Jan expected the National Park (which she did not create) to carry the entire value of the tour. There was no historical context shared about the land; she simply relied on the scenery to do the work. The lack of consideration for her guests was most apparent in how she rushed us. Both of my parents have medical limitations--my mother is a brain surgery survivor and my stepfather was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's. Both were medically cleared by their doctors for this visit, so while their conditions were not life-threatening, they naturally move at a slower pace, or what some would refer to as "Hawaii time." At the stop at the top of the mountain, Jan initially told us we would have an hour to look around, then suddenly changed it to 15 minutes. This was incredibly insensitive; 15 minutes is a rush for someone physically fit, let alone for people managing mobility issues. The actual stargazing was equally frustrating and felt hypocritical. Jan would complain if someone accidentally turned on a phone screen, claiming it affected her dilated pupils, yet she had no problem using a high-powered laser pointer against rocks instead of the sky, refracting the light directly into our eyes. Furthermore, none of us got long at the telescope because she insisted on refocusing it after every two people, all while a personal friend of hers joined for free and took up our paid telescope time. To put the lack of value in perspective, we recently paid $165 for a snorkeling tour on a catamaran that included a crew of five, two full meals, and equipment. Here, we had to bring our own snacks and water, and Jan even requested to use our personal National Park passes to get the group through the gate. Between the conspiracy theories playing loudly on the radio, her robotic and demanding attitude, and the underwhelming equipment, we felt massively overcharged. You can find better value elsewhere or by driving yourself at your own pace.

The short boat ride to Jet Ski Island was quick, the 45 minutes on the water flew by, and the photos turned out great. There are cubbies available on Jet Ski Island, so feel free to bring along anything you'd like easy access to during your visit. Also, don't forget to bring a credit card, as one is required to be kept on file for the rental.

I stay in Hawaii Kai when I visit Oahu so there are no issues with transportation getting to and from the Marina. If you are visiting, I recommended a car rental. There is plenty of free parking at the Marina. If you have to wait there are plenty of shops, Coconuts Shave Ice and Leonard's Malasadas at Koko marina. Parking is available but does require a fee of about $16, so keep that in mind when planning your visit. The beach can get windy, and there may be sporadic rain, so it's best to plan ahead and check the weather. Overall I'd love to come back to visit again!

This morning Keopuolani Park had a fun run for Pono Viela so there were a lot of people when we arrived so we rerouted. The streetlight at Kaahumanu and Papa was out so we rerouted again. Finally we ended up here at KCC and the little playground was pilau. It was full of graffiti and it's clearly old but at least it's gated in. We didn't stay here as long as we usually stay at Keopuolani but it did the trick. We could use more nice playgrounds here in Central Maui or upgrade ones like these. I think next time Keopuolani is packed, we will just go to Wailuku Heights park even though it's pretty windy sometimes up there or the one by Wailuku Elementary even though there's usually ball games going at that one.

Even better were rainy days where body boards took the place of cardboard boxes and if we walked away unscathed with little to no bruises, we considered ourselves one of the lucky ones. I remember a number of field trips to the swimming pool, hanging on to the walls for dear life, but still having so much fun. Aah, those were the days. The park has changed very little since then & that's all part of it's charm. With it's soccer fields, swimming pool, community center, tennis courts, walking trails, etc. Kahului Community Center Park has always been a gathering place for families, friends, & generations of local Mauians. Although the facilities are quite a bit older, everything has been well maintained for the most part. The community center remains popular for all types of parties and events. Frequent games are hosted on the soccer fields. Tennis courts are well lit once the sun bids us adieu. And the playgrounds are enclosed for our littles to enjoy. The park is centrally located so I still come here to take my son out to play every now and then. The playground is geared more towards older children, but there's still enough for my 3 1/2 year old to enjoy. He might also just like being outside in general so there's that... hehe. All in all, great park!

When we have a few extra minutes in Kahului, we like to stop off at Kanaha Pond to enjoy the birds…read more There were mostly ducks and stilts today but we have seen Nenes, or Hawaiian Geese (the state bird). One time, there was a family with several little goslings. We stopped on the path to the shelter and let them decide if they wanted to pass us in the other direction. The male gave me a stink eye as they walked by and started hissing at me after they got a little ways past. It was funny that he became more macho after getting a little distance. Anyway, I always enjoy the Ae'o, or Hawaiian Stilt. They wade through the shallow water with such long legs, in search of food. Their chirps warn others of our presence. There are benches in the small shelter, where you can sit in the shade and watch the birds do their bird things. There also is a gate on the back side of the pond, near the water treatment plant, that lets you in to the dirt roads that were used to access a series of WW2 storage bunkers. There are other ponds back there, too. It's a nice area to walk through.

June 8th, 2010, was our Short Waterfalls Walk, with the talented guide Tony. He was a great guy, very friendly, and knew A LOT about maui. The hike was great, and I highly recommend it. After our hike was over, our guide Tony received a call, and told us that the highway we had to take back was closed down to due to a big fire. (Here is a photo - http://imgur.com/WeP9J.jpg and here is a news article about the incident http://www.mauinews.com/page/content.detail/id/532280.html ) He stated that when this happens, the roads usually stay closed for a couple days. So now what do we do? We had no cell phones, and only brought a little bit of cash because we we're going to go into the water on the hike. Our guide Tony dropped us off at the local mall, and we went and bought a prepaid cell phone so Hike Maui can call us and let us know when the roads were back open. We're pretty much stranded on the other side of the island, with NOTHING. No clothes, no cell phones, and no money. We didn't know what to do. Other hike maui guides also dropped their groups off at the local mall, so we recognized a couple that was in the car with us when we we picked up at the hotel. About a hour later, we received a call from Hike Maui saying they have found a speed boat that would take us to the other side of the island, and it would be FREE. Now, this was extremely generous on their part, and they did not have to pay a dime to get us to the other side of the island. One of the other guides, Marko picked up everyone that was on the hike from the mall and drove us to the speed boat. (Photo of the boat - http://imgur.com/V9zTO.jpg ) So on our free boat ride, we saw the fire from the water, along with a dolphin and a flying fish! About 45 minutes later, we finally made it to the other side of the island, and could not be happier! THANK YOU HIKE MAUI!!!! With your extremely generous act, you saved our vacation! I recently went to Maui with a group of friends, and was resistant to any organized hiking trip. However, Hike Maui came recommended and I decided to go along with everybody else and sign up. I was more than surprised. The trip was fabulous, and we had a great time. Randy was our guide/leader, and he was the primary reason why our hike was so great. he was upbeat, positive, and encouraging. Having had a major health issue two years ago (which admittedly I never disclosed to him or Hike Maui....which i don't recommend), I was more uneasy than most in the group with balance which made portions of the trip very nerve wracking for me. But, Randy was very supportive, and made sure that everybody in the entire group was safe, and his general demeanor, helped make the trip very enjoyable for me, despite my balance fears. Our entire group was very supportive, and encouraging, and many of them helped in my fears and I actually jumped from 2 waterfalls. Once I was off the ledge, and in the water, I was so incredibly happy that I actually accomplished it, and I never would have done that had our entire group, including Randy, been so encouraging. It was one of the highlights of my entire vacation (which was in celebration of my 40th birthday). It was just a great way to enter another decade in life. I learned a great deal about Hawaii and came away with knowledge that I never had before,while getting some exercise along the way. So, even if you have no interest in jumping -- and we had a few in our group who did not jump -- you will still get a lot out of the trip. There was never any judgment or pressure on any of those people who chose to not get in the water, or jump from any falls. I would definitely recommend Hike Maui, and would sign up for any of the trips guided by Randy. read more

We had a fantastic time on our hike. Ask for Jacob if possible, he tailored the tour based on our athletic ability and made it more challenging and engaging on the fly. When the tour started he figured out the routes every group was taking and was able to take us a different way so much so that I didn't even realize there were other people in the forest. He blended into our group and made us feel like he was on the vacation with us. Extremely knowledgeable, was able to answer every question we threw at him, knowing all the plants and different things to experience, the ginger flower, strawberry guava, and the berries that tasted like Capt'n Crunch were so delicious, we would have been fine foraging for lunch, but luckily he packed some delicious sandwiches and homemade cookies. This was the first activity we did on our trip and it remains the favorite, all because of Jacob. He gave us great recommendations on beaches and food that we have gone to through the week and each spot has been cooler than the last. I could fill up 10 pages raving about Jacob, but I think my point has been made! He deserves a raise, a paid vacation, and 2 double-stuffed oreos! read more

Absolutely everything about our experience with Hike Maui was outstanding! The booking process was seamless and informative. Communication about our upcoming trip and logistics was spot on and timely. The location to meet our van and guide was convenient. The van, the backpacks, the rain gear, the bug spray, and the lunches were exactly what we needed. And then there was Joel. Coming from the mountains of Colorado and Utah, and hiking quite a bit, we were not sure what we would learn and/or need from a "hiking guide". Wow, we could not have been more wrong. Joel was exceptional! His knowledge of the flora and fauna of rainforest was incredible. His ability to match our adventurous nature with the more reserved nature of our other hiking family was wonderful. His passion for his job is something that has been lost in this day and age and was such a welcome surprise. We hiked, we jumped waterfalls, we foraged on nature's edible gifts, and we learned. My wife and I recently joined a vacation club on Maui and thought it best to work with a hiking guide to get to know this beautiful paradise. Hike Maui exceeded our expectations far more than we could have imagined! We chose the Waterfall & Rainforest Hike in the mesmerizing Ho'olawa Valley. Our guide, Naomi, picked us up near our hotel in Ka'anapali, and after breaking the inherent awkwardness of ten strangers meeting in a van with a fun introduction, she filled the drive to the Valley with fascinating stories about the landmarks we passed and the the colorful history of Maui. Then, once the hike began, Naomi educated us on the wide variety of flora growing in the Valley. She was so knowledgeable, I thought perhaps she had an advanced degree in botany! Naomi's description of all that we saw was as educational as it was fun, from tasting tidbits of the natural flora along the way to learning the history of how this forest developed over the centuries. And of course, the waterfalls were as refreshing as they are beautiful! I can't think of a better way to be introduced to the natural beauty and intrigue that is Maui! read more

I had a great day with Jacob and four other hikers at Haleakala. We started with a short part of the "Halemau'u Overlook Trail", about an hour in and an hour [plus] out. The highlight is the view into the crater from the "Rainbow Bridge" -- and seeing the beginnings of the switchback trails that would take you to the bottom of the crater if you had another four hours. The second trail was the "Sliding Sands Trail" starting near the "Haleakala Summit Visitor Centre" at about 2,980m we descended into Haleaka and stopped at a vantage point on the trail at 2,760, some 200m or 700ft deeper into the crater. This was total immersion in this alien environment of subtle rock colour changes and almost complete silence. Three quarters of an hour down and an hour [plus] out. During both hikes Jacob provided details of the geological features and volcanic forces that created Haleakala and of the vegetation that has adapted to the environment, Also during the hikes and on the drive to and from Haleakala Jacob shared his knowledge and stories about the Hawaiian people. The waterfall tour & hike was recommended by the conceriege at our hotel and I could not have been more pleased with the outcome. Our guide was well versed in the culture & heritage of the island and provided information on the rich history & traditions during the 30min drive to the trail site. On arriving at the trail, there were many surprises along the way including our small group getting to float through a cave, seeing & swimming in multiple waterfalls, and jumping in the water next to a waterfall. In addition. He pointed out fresh pineapple growing, picked a coconut (of which we were able to taste) as well as fresh cacao. I would highly recommend this tour and would certainly consider going again if we decide to vacation in Maui in the future. (A word of caution..make sure you follow the recommendations to wear sturdy closed toed shoes. They will get wet, BUT they will stay on your feet & help you avoid injury from sharp rocks! We were so glad we wore shoes as we noted individuals (not with the tour group) had lost flip flops in the rushing water and then had to walk back shoeless!) read more

We recently took the morning waterfall walk with Hike Maui, and our tour guide, Des, was absolutely incredible. From the start, she was extremely informative, providing us with a wealth of history and information about Maui. Her passion and knowledge made the hike much more enriching and enjoyable. The waterfalls and the surrounding landscape were breathtakingly beautiful. Des was also super helpful and always willing to lend a hand to everyone in our group. One standout moment was when she offered to take the child in our group to the bathroom, allowing his parents to fully enjoy the waterfalls and swimming. Her thoughtfulness and attentiveness truly went above and beyond. We basically got a private tour because our group was large enough, which made the experience even more special. Des truly embodied the spirit of aloha with her kindness, knowledge, and hospitality, making us feel welcomed and cared for. We had an amazing time and hope to return to Maui again one day. I am so happy we went on this tour! We would definitely go again. I am not much of a hiker myself, but the hike was easy and the total 3-hour experience did not take up the entire day although we were able to see some beautiful aspects of Maui without the full day to Hana. Randalyn was an awesome guide & we met her at the Park & Ride. We really didn't need anything other than wearing swimsuits & sunscreen & bringing a camera; they had everything else including towels, backpacks, water, bananas, apples, bug spray, walking sticks, even a treat at the end. The vans were clean/nice & the short drive to the hiking spot was informative & fun, connecting with the group & Randalyn before arrival. We had time for bathrooms, bug spray, & pictures before starting and tried fresh fruit/coffee beans and stopped at 2 waterfalls which my teenage son had a blast jumping in at both. Randalyn took pictures for us & the pace was perfect. We went back to explore Paia after, which is a great town to walk around & the turtle beach is nearby. First we were going to explore the rainforest/ waterfalls on our own and my husband suggested that we go with a tour guide because it would be less stressful (getting lost, wasting time not getting to the good places etc.) We are so glad we did. First, I get car sick and they saved a spot up front so that they could accommodate me. ( I was fine). Joel was our tour guide and he was more than we had hoped for. Even in the car ride over, he was sharing so much knowledge about the land, culture and stories that were absolutely fascinating! He has truly assimilated to the Hawaiian life and its values! He was so kind and although there were only 3 couples, you felt as if you were on a personal tour. He made us feel safe and adventurous as well as coming so prepared with useful items, snacks, backpacks, bug spray etc. For those of us who forgot certain things this was very appreciated! He truly is a pro! The rainforest hike was so beautiful! I am thrilled that we went...It truly was the highlight of our vacation and I Highly recommend it!! We will be back:) read more

We just did this excursion with "Hike Maui" on 14 Jan 2023 via our Carnival cruise excursion. Dave, the Aussie, was an EXCELLENT tour guide. The entire group was split up amongst several guides with only 11 guest in our group. On the 30 min van ride from the cruise port to the rainforest, we gave us lots of interesting information about Maui & the areas along the route. Before we started our hike, he provided us backpacks, bug spray, chilled water bottles, bananas, a Rubbermaid container with sandwich & cookie, condiment packs & mini bags of chips to take on our hike. In the rainforest on our hike, he pointed out dozens of different plants & gave interesting information about them. I was amazed by his vast knowledge & enthusiasm throughout the 5 hrs excursion! We had ample time to swim in 2 of the 3 waterfalls we saw. At the 3rd waterfall we even got to jump into the basin. The picnic lunch they (Hike Maui) prepared ahead of time was great! The turkey sandwich was very tasteful! I highly recommend this excursion & would definitely do it again! read more

Absolutely amazing experience, from beginning to end!! We took our very active and adventure seeking 15, 13, and 11 year old kiddos (we have done some of the hardest hikes in Yosemite, the Rocky Mountains, Zion/Bryce etc). During our hike, we visitied 4 different waterfalls/swim holes, each time having the spot to ourselves for a bit. The kids loved the last stop the best...it was literally a jungle gym within the jungle (trees to climb and jump off of--a private oasis within the oasis) and we had it to ourselves during our 20min stop. George (our tour guide) was so great at leading our kids to fun jumps, making sure they were safe the whole time (climbing trees and finding rocks that would provide a fun/challenging but safe jump and always lead the way by jumping first!!). The walk through the jungle was great because George made sure to point out and educate us on fun facts about all the different plants. 100% recommend!! Thanks for giving us a priceless memory! Our first Family trip to Maui was so fun and exciting already and then we went on the jungle/waterfalls tour and Micheal was our guide. Wow what luck to have such an awesome guy loaded with authentic knowledge and experience to be our guide! Like he said "I think I know pretty much every single stone in this jungle!" And I totally believe him! My teen boys loved that Michael not only showed them the way to the falls jumping area he lead the way by jumping in first! He was an all around great guide. So many interesting plants along way. It was fun to try what the jungle had to offer! We all had a great experience due to Michael being our guide. Incredible experience!! My husband and I visited Maui on our honeymoon, and we wanted time to hike and explore the rainforests. Hike Maui provided several options of the kind of hike we wanted to experience (duration, location, difficulty) which helped us make a confident decision. We choose a moderate hike of roughly 3 miles, for about 5-6 hours. Our tour guide, Nicole, was extremely friendly and offered very detailed information about the ecosystem and foliage growing on the island. We felt comfortable and safe under her guidance the entire time, and she went out of her way to ensure everyone on the trip was doing okay and enjoying themselves. Hike Maui also provided us complete lunches, including gluten free and vegetarian alternatives. All together, we had an amazing time; explored the rainforests, swam under waterfalls, learned more about the island and its plants, and we would highly recommend Hike Maui to anyone visiting and would like a great hiking experience. read more

Our experience with Hike Maui was absolutely incredible! The hike itself was super easy and enjoyable -- we had a nice breeze the whole way and plenty of shade from the rainforest canopy, which made it really comfortable. The waterfalls were stunning, and we had an amazing time jumping into the clear pools below -- from 5-foot jumps all the way up to 15 feet! Definitely a highlight for the whole family. Our guide, Enrique, was fabulous. He was so knowledgeable about the local trees, plants, and flowers, and shared so much with us along the way. He even let us sample some fruits and edible flowers, which was such a fun and unique part of the hike. It was a perfect day for the whole family -- adventurous, educational, and just the right amount of challenge. One tip: wear old shoes that you don't mind getting muddy! such an amazing hiking experience! Dave was our tour guide and was friendly and engaging from the moment we approached the van at the park and ride. He had tons of knowledge on hawaiian/maui history and culture. The drive in the van was about 30 minutes to the hiking site. Before the hike began there were bathrooms to use, free ponchos, lunch, water, snacks, and bug spray. We got started on our hike and couldn't have enjoyed it more! It rained on us but it created the perfect rainforest atmosphere, some of us used ponchos while other braved the weather. The hiking was definitely not for the faint of heart as we scaled rocky inclines, ducked under branches, and waded through rivers. 3 swimming holes were available to us, a cliff jump, and many waterfalls. There was no pressure to swim if you didn't want to, but you should! All in all it was a great experience and a must do if you're in Maui. read more

I don't write many Yelp reviews, but Hike Maui definitely deserves 5 stars for an awesome experience. We did the "Waterfall and Rainforest Hiking Adventure," and it was worth every penny! Our tour guide, Joel, was amazing. When he picked us up he started with the history of Hawaii and its culture, explained the various sites and their meaning as we passed them on the road, and then when we got on site, explained flowers and plant life as well as had us taste some of them. It was crazy! He takes you off the main hike trail right away and we went to waterfalls that you would not be able to go if you went on your own. The hiking off the beaten path, the cliff jumping into "private" (no one around) waterfalls, the knowledge gained, the free plant based natural shampoo, dang, best experience we had in a long time. Unforgettable Experience with Hike Maui! We had the best time hiking with Hike Maui, and our guide Enrique made the day truly amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the local plants, trees, and Hawaiian history, and shared everything in such a fun and engaging way. You could tell he really cared about making sure everyone was involved, safe, and having a great time. The hike itself was beautiful--lush forest trails, stunning scenery, and the highlight: swimming in waterfalls and jumping off cliffs into the water! It felt adventurous but totally safe with Enrique guiding us every step of the way. We also got to hike with an awesome group of people, which made the whole experience even more fun. My family and I participated in the Waterfall and Rainforest Hiking Adventure this past weekend. The waterfalls are true to pictures- beautiful, fresh water pools to swim in, and optional cliff jumping! The lunch provided was substantial (sandwich of your choice, chips, cookie, water bottles). My piece of advice is to wear hiking sandals rather than running shoes because you WILL get wet through river crossings and will want to keep shoes on in the pools as they have rocky/uneven bottoms. Some people in our group swam in runners which looked uncomfortable. This is less of a hike and more of a nature walk to various view points. Also, wear the bug spray they provide!!!! Mosquitoes are smaller than where I call home in the PNW, but are plentiful. I would return with Hike Maui again, perhaps on a more difficult hike so it is indeed a 'hike.' read more

We showed up 15 minutes before departure and were issued paddles and given a quick lesson on how to use them. We were lucky that the weather was perfect and the paddling was not difficult (and we were told we could take a break whenever we wanted/needed to). The guides were fantastic and the bonus was seeing both turtles and whales! It was our first time in an outrigger and we had a blast! Another canoe had young children and the guides were very good with them and it was obvious they also had a great time!

I've zip lined about 5 times now in Hawaii. This was the most intense and fast and furthest…read moredistance course ever. The harness' are by far the most comfortable I've ever used. Biggest downfall, all the hiking. It was straight up the mountain on this goat trail. Footing could be dangerous If you don't have good shoes, balance and pay attention. They give you a water bottle full to keep ( however not in the least bit cold). If you aren't in att least half way decent shape this adventure probably is not for you. It is a lot of physical work. Be prepared to sweat and breathe hard and carry yourself and that 10 pound trolley up the dang mountain with very little to no shade. The guys doing the actual Zipping with us were awesome! Fun and friendly! The guy at the start, when you check in and pay... let's just say he's a grump. Maybe he had a bad day, but we found his to be grumpy and just honestly rude. It's like he hates his job. Would Recommend and go again for sure!
