We enjoyed our trails that were better than we expected with beautiful scenery, a good workout, nice waterfalls, pretty plants and trees, and just a greater appreciation for the other wonderful nature of Maui that not many know of. There was even a little fruit sampling along the way..and of course the opportunity to get as close to the waterfall as we chose.. jumping or simply taking photos. What a wonderful way to see the island!! To start, our tour guide Kimo was FANTASTIC. He was passionate in teaching us about his home, and it was wonderful conversing with a local from the area who had such a profound appreciation for the land we were visiting. We signed up for the Waterfall & Rainforest Hiking Adventure, but our experience also included a strong vegetation and botany tour. Some of us jumped off small cliffs into waterfall pools, and we all got to taste test some of the fruit that was found right there on the path. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area, and you would think that he had been working there for 15 years, not 6 months. Overall, we were very pleased with our adventure! Hike Maui was amazing. We chose to be picked up at out hotel and that was a good option as we were very tired after the hike. On the drive there we learned about Hawaiian culture and what we will be doing on the hike. Once there we were given rain ponchos and backpacks as this is a rainforest and it's either raining or misting all the time. We hiked to several waterfalls, the path is rocky, muddy and slippery so bring good shoes. We could swim by the waterfall and jump off the cliff. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us plenty of time to swim. Along the way we saw various plants some that were edible (we tried them, they were delicious) and some that were ornamental. Some parts or our trail was a bit hard but we had a great group and everyone helped each other. I absolutely recommend doing this, it's is life changing. read more

This hiking tour was really amazing, super fun and also informative, our guide George was just so friendly and took care of all of us the entire time of the hike. While hiking we got to try passion fruit and guava straight from the plants! Got to do a cliff jump and check out several waterfalls and also get some dope photos definitely a hike you won't regret doing, they provide snacks & lunch, 2 bottles of water, a wild banana, a bag of chips and your choice of a sand which ( turkey, ham, veggie or pb&j) I got the Pb& J. The savior of this trip was that George was prepared and had mosquito repellent, I totally forgot to bring some and I'm basically a walking buffet for mosquitos... even tho I still got a ton of bites at the end definitely having the repellent was a saving grace. We came to Maui for a girl's getaway. We wanted to experience a lot of what Maui has to offer so chose to sign up for the Kayak, snorkel, waterfall tour. We began the day Kayaking with Tyler. He was a fantastic guide. In addition to being a great kayaking teacher, he also knows quite a bit about the ocean and Maui in general. We were fortunate to spot some whales. He taught us about the whales and how to respect their space. It was so exciting to see those magnificent gentle giants. Kyle was also very good at explaining how to snorkel. His equipment was clean and worked very well in the ocean, much better than some of the snorkel equipment one might get from a hotel. We did not want this portion of the day to end because we were having soooo much fun! The second part of the day was spent with Gail who took us part way up the road to Hana where we hiked to a few waterfalls. She was also a wonderful guide. She knew a great deal about the flora and fauna and would stop and let us sample passion fruit, or an avocado that had fallen. We even had the opportunity to jump off a waterfall which was exciting. Not every one took part in that portion, but it was available if we wanted. Tips for this trip: We went in January, It was a beautiful day but bring a light jacket or sweater because it can get a bit chilly if the clouds roll over. Kyle had wet bags for our phones, keys, sweaters, etc., and Gail provided backpacks for our personals. Your shoes will get wet during the waterfall hike, but do not wear flip flops because you will be crossing over a few wet rocks and need a good grip. You do do not need to be in a swim suit for the waterfall portion unless you want to swim or jump off the waterfall. A few people in my group changed into shorts and t-shirts for the hike. There is a bathroom and outdoor shower at Makena Beach landing to rinse off and change. I highly recommend Hike Maui, Special shout out to Tyler and Gail. We definitely got an A team and will ask for them the next time we take this hike. Thank you! read more

The hike was awesome! It was moderately challenging but nothing too difficult as my 10-year old daughter has no issues. Our guide, Pasco, was FANTASTIC!! My wife and kids all jumped from some of the cliffs into the waterfall pools. Pasco made sure everyone was safe and had a great time. Pasco has a love for Maui and the land and we appreciated his passion. This hiking tour is a great way to really connect with the local culture and beauty of the topography. Today my family and I went on a hike with Abby to the waterfalls. It was spectacular, Abby was the best. She engaged with our group and taught us so many things to sing facts about the landscape, the local animals, the climate, plants, etc. The real highlight, was taking our kids walk jumping into the water. We had an amazing experience with Hike Maui and would highly recommend them to anyone visiting the island. We had a beautiful day and an AMAZING guide named Gail who was clearly passionate about the lifestyle and Hawaiian culture and history and that was contagious. We ate fruit right from the tree, learned about the original plants brought over when the islands were inhabited, saw 4 waterfalls, swam in 3 of them and cliff jumped in 2 of them. The highlight of our vacation!! Absolutely, hands down, the best tour I've taken!! I have traveled extensively to tropical islands, Caribbean, and South Pacific and enjoy seeing the local highlights, but I don't enjoy large crowds. This company has their own private trails to the falls and they were able to take us hiking when other public areas were closed due to heavy rains. We had an amazing hike and waterfall experience that was literally only the four of us! We had the waterfall all to ourselves! I am an experienced hiker and this trail is no joke.Only 2.5 miles but it was a nice workout and very shaded so no worries about the heat and sun. The rainforest waterfall hike with Randalyn was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the plants, fruits, and quite frankly, the entire island. This was our second time on this hike but it felt like our first because we went on a different trail through lots of streams. Did I mention Randalyn was amazing?! If needed, she lent a hand to anyone needing assistance throughout the day as the rocks were slippery. She truly cared for each and every one of us. She was always on the lookout for native fruits to taste and beautiful Hawaiian flowers. She also introduced us to a new nut that she found on the ground and cracked open for us. Kevin picked us up fr our hotel (we paid extra for it), he is awesome, can't say enough great things about him. He is professional, informative, friendly, welcoming....the list goes on =) We opted for the short 1hr waterfall hike since we had our 2 kids with us. It was perfect. 2 pit stops to pick up other hikers. Total of about 11 ppl in our group. Ride out was about 40mins to the hike site, as soon as we got there, snacks (fruits & chips) & water bottles are offered. Restroom break. Then the hike starts. Dress ready to swim, there 2 waterfall spots to go swimming and diving in. Sunscreen and bug repellent is complimentary for use. Very easy trek and if that's what you are looking for like us, you will not be disappointed. Kevin helped our kids along the way where it was a little rough for them to do on their own, like crossing the rocky stream and down some rocky slope areas. Nothing treacherous, just to be safe. At the end, we were offered one more snack, restroom break, and got the included ride back to our hotel. Definitely recommend HikeMaui and Kevin as the tour guide! read more
