Careful with your uber inspections here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I recently had service done at a dealership but they couldn't do my uber inspection. Uber recommended this location and the front desk person was very nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but the tech who reviewed my vehicle stated I had a drivers side brake light out, and no tread on one tire. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I let the technician know I just drove my vehicle last night and my tail lights work. He just goes yeah and gives me a smug look.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As I leave I decide to check what he stated, and I have tread on my tire which Toyota also showed my tread on paperwork and can be seen if you walk up to it, and my drivers side brake light works. It's the middle of summer, and another shop had left me with a inoperable A/C and an estimate that almost matched the car's value. Safe to say I was starting to panic -- Thankfully, I was referred to Alfred & Hilo Auto for a second opinion. I connected with Alfred late Friday afternoon, and after admitting that his Saturday schedule was fully booked, he STILL offered to see my car first thing Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon, Alfred and his crew had my A/C back up and running as good as it was the day I drove off the lot, for a FRACTION of the cost the previous shop demanded. As a 20 year old woman, I couldn't recommend this place enough. They are super professional, very honest, never over charge and are very speedy with their services. I always come here to get oil changes and in the Rancho Cucamonga area this is one of the lowest oil change prices I've found. I also needed both engine and cabin air filters changed and the prices were so similar to AutoZone there was no point in me doing them myself. Amazing workers and a great value!! read more

Great service. Was my 1st time and he took care of our car. Didn't leave till all the work was done. I also observed him interact with other customers (cust Serv is important to me) and he helped everyone that came in with urgency. Didn't chase them away because of time. He was very Helpful. I felt he was honest. I will now only take our car here to be fixed, oil change, etc. I usually take my car for oil change where I can stay in my car because it's convenient, NOT Anymore! I took my vintage car to Hilo for a minor repair. I figured the most it would take to do that was a day, but kept my car for 3 full days claiming that they couldn't find the part (a hose!?) Talked to Alfred the manager...geat guy! However, before o took my vehicle there I filled the tank to capacity and wrote down the mileage. (I did this based on previous umpleasant experiences at other shops) Sure enoug! They used my car to run errands, used a quarter of the tank and put 104 miles on my car! It's not the money I'm complaining about... (is was about $15 worth of gas), but it surely is a dishonest business practice! Sorry to say, but I won't do business with this place agsin, nor I would recommend it. read more

On my way to Vegas I stopped here and got an oil change without an appointment. Service was friendly, quick and affordable. They do promise a car wash with every oil change but because it was late they said they couldn't do it. However, they told me to stop by on my way back from Vegas and they would wash my car. Of course my car badly needed a wash upon with all the dead bugs on it but I just wanted to get home and unpack. Bottom line, I will be going back for oil changes (and free car wash) in the future! I needed help getting my car re-certified for Uber/Postmates. Uber listed Hilo Auto Services as a certified inspection location. Times are tough and I was down to my last pennies replacing some old tires earlier in the day to make sure I passed inspection. It was a busy shop, but Alfred always made sure every customer got help as soon as possible, answering phones and the consistent queue with urgency and individual care. They were very busy when I arrived, and I didn't have an appointment or call ahead because I wasn't sure how long the tire replacement was going to take that day, but he explained what he had lined up and what time I could come back for the inspection. I got lunch and then went back. He got to my vehicle as soon as possible, really did me a solid squeezing me in that day. They made the most thorough inspection of my car I've ever seen for Uber. This is my first time coming here, and I rarely leave reviews but I was really impressed with the customer service Alfred, the manager, provided! He went above and beyond to make sure I left a happy customer, after I went here for an oil change/car wash. I knew I had a leak prior to coming here and Alfred offered to find out where the leak was. It wasn't free for a diagnostic check but said it would go towards a repair cost should I get it done through them. So I agreed since it had to be taken care of. I told him I would try to call home to get someone to pick me up to take me home while they were working on my car and to my surprise he offered me a ride home with their company car should I need one! I was truly astonished by the level consideration for making this as easy for me as possible. He thinks he know where the leak is but to be sure he wants me to drive it for a few days to make sure there are no other leak points which he will examine when I bring it back. I asked if he would charge me to look at it again and he said of course not he just wants to be thorough! I just found my new mechanic shop! I don't think I will go anywhere else now! I was hearing a squeaking noise when braking. I decided to just stop by Hilo Auto Service on a Sunday afternoon to get my brakes checked. Turns out the front brakes and rotor needed to be replaced. I was given a price estimate and they said they were able to get it done in less than two hours. I think I was in there for a little over an hour! Really great service! I took my car for a check engine light last minute/no appointment (it had been on for awhile but I HATE taking my car in) he said he would run a diagnostic. It turned out I hadn't screwed my gas cap on correctly and the release of emissions is what caused the notification. I felt like an idiot, but not only did he assure me that I wasn't first one to make this mistake it was kind of common.... he didn't charge me at ALL for the diagnostic that is normally 60 bucks. Scanned my car did the whole she-bang, and zero dollars. I have gone to these guys before because of their chill attitude about dropping my car off with no notice when the check engine light was on... but this treatment was next level. SO convenient, make you feel safe about taking your car in (as a female going by myself, I feel self conscious taking my car in, I have no idea what mechanics are referring to because my car knowledge is zero.)
