It was already late in the day, but I found QP Plumbing and messaged them and they were able to have a plumber out early the next morning. Leo was the plumber who visited and he did a lot of troubleshooting: first with a plunger, then an auger, then removing the toilet to inspect the trap and the drain pipe. In the end, we determined that the toilet should be replaced because of its age, and Leo took care of buying a new toilet, installing it, and hauling the old one away. He recommended a toilet that's elongated and slightly higher, which was a great option for our elderly parents with reduced mobility. Leo also replaced the wax ring and flange bolts and caulked the new toilet well. He took the time to do the job right, and the price was quite reasonable. Called Alberto and him and his brother came earlier than I expected. He inspected my pipes and showed me that part of the pipe was broken from water being backed up in it and had to be replaced. He quickly went to the hardware store, got the new part and replaced it. He also snaked my line clear. He knew that I had low income and took care of my Mom so he charged me the least amount that he could. He didn't charge me for labor. I was very greatful. He explained that the entire pipe and garbage disposal were very old and worn and would eventually need to be replaced and he suggested how to get it done for the least amount.
