My review is of the banquet facility and staff. Being a Milwaukee resident I didn't need to stay over. Attended a Holiday party in the Empire Ballroom. What a beautiful room! The staff was so friendly and attentive. The food was good! Appetizer were served during the social hour, dinner was served promptly at 7. It was hot and tasty. I had the filet and others at my table had the goat cheese stuffed chicken and commented that it was very good. We were also offered a dessert table which was a complete hit: apple pie, chocolate cake and a tart. Everything was really good. I also can't forget to mention the amazingly beautiful holiday decorations! The Christmas tree in the foyer is absolutely breathtaking! It's worth the stop just to see the tree! read more

A very decent hotel located in a prime location. The hotel's facilities, especially in little details, such as the elevator, and the parking entrance are definitely a little outdated. But the hotel itself has a grand decor. The room was nice and cheap for its location. And they have a super cute hotel dog, Millie. She is the best little mascot I've seen. The concierge who takes care of Millie is also a nice gentleman. The front desk staff can be hard to work with. I have difficulty understanding them, and I was surprised to learn that they didn't have an electric kettle to offer to us. But one of the doormen was really nice and helpful, telling one random person who tried to follow us to go away in front the hotel. read more

Last weekend, my BFF and I went to Milwaukee for our first in-person academic conference since before the pandemic began. We could have stayed with friends, but decided to stay at the conference hotel since she has travel funds from her job, and we thought we'd get the full conference experience for old time's sake. In the grand tradition of downtown hotels, the lobby and bar are much sexier than the rooms, though all have a dated quality (which, frankly, I sometimes like-- who doesn't love a giant chandelier in the city of beer?) On first glance, the outdated decor makes a person feel like renovations are necessary, but in my experience, everything --even if old-- was in good or great working order at this hotel. Our room was on the 17th floor, and the elevators were fast and smooth. The room was quiet and comfortable, with a powerful enough, hot shower; a nice big TV; new fancy mini-fridge; and, of course, a safe in the closet. The beds were comfy enough, and neither the neighbors nor the hall noise did not wake me (which is saying more than you know). I'm wondering if the other reviewers complaining about noise weren't as far down the hall as we were, or if they should request higher floors next time. The conference spaces were comfortable and attractive enough, easy to navigate, and featured the obligatory hideous carpeting. Check, check, check. Out of convenience and time constraints, we had the overpriced breakfast buffet (ugh, we're doing buffets again, Wisconsin? really?) in the uninspired, borderline depressing dining room. It was fine. We had to track people down to give us silverware, but at least it wasn't in the line where it could be fondled by strangers (unlike the serving spoons and forks for the eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, etc.) I had a suprisingly tasty bran muffin. (I prefer blueberry, but bran was all that was left). My biggest complaint is the creepy parking garage. It was laid out fine (no speed bumps, which frankly, Milwaukee of all places should probably have), but there were few indications of which floors we were on. Better signage and color coding would have been nice! Very few people in Milwaukee are masking, and after eating at a buffet against my better judgement, I'm counting down the days until I can be assured we didn't catch delta. Pray for us. read more

I chose this place to spend my birthday weekend only to come back to my room and find out that my Shoes were Stolen and some other things once I made it home. The Head of Security for the night was absolutely 0 help at all. It was almost as if he didn't believe us. When we asked him about the cameras his only response was, "I can neither confirm nor deny that we have Cameras on the floors of the hotel"as if I care about where your cameras are. You should be able to go back and tell me if someone came into my room. They made a report that we could not have, And their excuse was it was company policy. There was only one person who was of any help, and I can't remember his name. Other then that it was like talking to robots. I was given a card to contact Ethan Hamilton who is the Director of the Front End. I left 2 messages for Ethan and he has not called me back yet. SO BE AWARE of this place. According to them, there may not be cameras on the floors. So they have 0 control over security and keeping your things safe while you are away. The hotel looks nice on the outside and it's history is apparent both inside and out. The room is basic in itself and the furniture is both dated and worn. The bathroom had no ventilation and there was hair and mold throughout the bathroom. The sound of people using the toilet and shower could be heard from the rooms above and adjacent. Which is both disgusting and jarring when you're sleeping and awoken by someone taking a early shower. One positive was room service. It was quick and the food was fresh and tasty. read more

This review is for the Breakfast with Santa. We took our little ones for the Breakfast with Santa and everyone in our party had a good time. Great breakfast buffet and the desserts were beautiful, but also delicious. The hot chocolate was so good, not too sweet. There were lots of activities for the kids: decorating cookies, watching Christmas movie and other arts and crafts. For us older kids, we enjoyed the delight on the kids faces and seeing Santa walk around and play the concertina. Even though our little one was scared of Santa and screamed her head off when it was picture time (which years from now we will look back and laugh about) Santa was good natured and you could tell he was a pro with screaming kids. Overall a great event and it was nice not to be packed into the ballroom like sardines. Our little ones really had fun petting Millie, the hotel dog! read more

Had a nice stay here. The building and interior are beautiful. It's got that old school charm and elegance when you first walk in. Check in was simple. They put a $150 hold on my credit card for incidentals. The room itself was nice, a bit tiny, but not bad. My buddy came along for this adventure, so we got 2 twin beds. The bed was comfortable. A bit soft, but honestly not bad at all. The bathroom was a bit tiny. Also, no vent fan, so shower steam will stick around. They have a couple restaurants, a steak house and a Miller pub and a breakfast cafe. The pub was hoping every night. It had a great atmosphere. I'll review it separately. The steakhouse seemed dead. The cafe was hoping in the morning, but I never ventured in. The employees were all pleasant. The cleaning staff was top notch. This is a nice hotel to stay in, not far from attractions. I guess people consider this "vintage charm?" While the staff was helpful and pleasant-the quality of the rooms was poor. Old hairdryer that appeared extra hot on the handle and possibly a potential fire hazard, small bathroom where you had to move by the toilet to open the door to get out, no robes, and a view that overlooked a parking lot. Windows needed cleaning (outside). The shuttle driver and outside concierge were hospitable and helpful as was the front desk staff. The bed was comfortable and clean with an abundance of pillows. Would try a different hotel in the future. FYI-Cab drivers on all of my rides did not use the meter..they would just state a price at the end....most trips were $5.00 and one driver even complained because I was going a short distance and he had waited two hours for a possible airport fare...he complained profusely during my ride to a breakfast restaurant and then gave me his business card which proudly stated that he was "courteous" and told me to call him if I needed a ride back from the restaurants (I think not)! Amazing staff - they were super accommodating of my requests. They were friendly and engaging. The building is beautiful, though individual rooms could use some updating. The bed was extremely comfortable and I slept better than I have in a long time. My room was generally clean but could use a bit of detail attention to areas like ceiling corners. The location is great - central to most everything. I love that there's a comfortable, full-service Starbucks in the lower lobby complete with ; many hotels 'proudly serve' Starbucks so this was a really welcome surprise. soft seating and a fireplace. No heat and no other rooms available??? Visted during a chilly weekend with lows in the 40 and room temp would not pass 63 degrees. Extremely unpleasant. They sent maintenance man up twice which impacted my schedule to wait for repair. Room went up to 68 then heat went away again taking room temp to 62 degrees within 2hrs of each visit. I requested to be moved and was told in that HUGE hotel, there was not one other room available. Also I requested a room in a quiet place and was told sure. I was placed next to a utility closet where the door opened and slammed closed atleast every 10min waking me. Very disappointed! read more

In all of my years of staying at the Hilton, this is the worst room I've ever paid for. After driving from Chicago-in rush hour traffic, all I wanted to do was take a shower & sleep. The Bad: Old room with stains all over the wall, A/C ridiculously LOUD, windows difficult to open, bathroom is from the 1980's, phone didn't work ( annoying static the entire 5 minutes I was on the phone requesting toiletries since none were in my room). The Ugly: no hot water or anything that defines lukewarm. The shower head had no pressure & needs replacement. Bed was not comfortable, pillows need replacement. The walls are so thin, I could here there was a party next door with loud music and the conversations they were having. Called and security came which didn't do anything, they just continued with the music. I had a horrible night's sleep. We stayed here last Friday and had a great time! We didn't even have to leave the hotel because there's some great bars inside. I absolutely LOVE the chandeliers that hang throughout the hotel. Yeah never staying here again. Evidently, I was staying on the old side of the hotel and it was apparent the moment I opened the door to my room. The room's decor was dated, the bathroom was so small I felt like it was a closet that had been turned into a bathroom. The AC was crap and could I barely be felt. This will probably be my first-ever review for a place that is not, in and of itself, a restaurant. It had to be done, however. Not only is this art deco gem a feast for the eyes, the staff truly goes above and beyond. Also, parking was a breeze with the connected lot. We arrived with our dog (without my husband knowing it was a pet-friendly hotel) and had no problems at check-in. Everyone was very kind, and professional. Our room and bed were very comfy. I'd maybe take off a point for how tiny the bathroom was, but the details of the gorgeous door handles, the size of our room (and the fact it had a pull-out couch if we'd had guests) was more than enough to make up for that. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, when we were setting our stuff down I noticed a kind welcome note from the maid. What a nice touch! The best part, however, was that, after racing after my husband Friday night, while taking photos, and after a couple drinks with dinner, I stumbled over my shoes and scratched my hands. When we got back to the Hilton, I asked the staff if they had band-aids. They said they'd send someone up. Moments later, they didn't just send someone up with band-aids, they send up a cute, extremely sweet young man who had previously been a medic in the Army! He was gentle with me as he cleaned my wounds and bandaged up my hands. Talk about service! I would never hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay somewhere in the center of downtown, walking distance to everything cool in the city center (and just further afield) and that, at every turn, is a glorious display of old-school glitz. The first thing that turned me off about this hotel was that when I pulled up, there was no valet present. I'm not sure if they have a valet person or not, but on Sunday night when I got there, there was no one to take my car or help with bags. So, I left the car on the street to check in so fast, and the front desk guy said that I had to park my car since there was no valet. Aside from the valet being gone, the front desk rep was very helpful and nice. Our room was spacious and nice; however, the bathroom was extremely small. The fitness center is small, but the treadmills were nice enough for me to get a good workout in. The hotel has the Miller Time Pub, as well as a nearby Starbuck's. If I'm ever in the area again, I would give this place another night of my stay. read more

We came to town for the fair and got a room here off Price line for around $75 for a night love the location of this hotel to the Amtrak station, or Grey Hound, and easy to get public transportation and all the shops down town like TJ Max the room I was told was a little smaller than the room my BF got here on his last trip to Milwaukee, but it was fine for me it had a nice big bed and lots of pillows a nice flat screen TV and lots of plug outlets on the lamps and desk so you could easily charge phones or laptop and camera batteries the bathroom had these huge towels and good lighting most bathrooms are too dark for me, only thing I would of like would of been a mini fridge to put our drinks we picked up in but we put them in the ice bucket with some ice and it worked, I also like the real glasses I know in the last few years there has been a lot of controversy over maids cleaning glasses with a rag and not actually washing them, so most places now have sealed plastic glasses but I like glass and never had any tummy issues when we return and we will I will request that we stay here again read more

Had a wonderful stay at this great old Milwaukee hotel. This area of downtown is so much nicer than when hubby and I were undergraduates at Marquette in the 70's! We were in town for the Brewer game; man, this place was hopping last night. The lobby is stunningly beautiful; art deco to the max! It has been beautifully restored. The parking ramp is attached to the hotel, which is super convenient. Check in was a breeze; our rooms were attractively decorated with a mid century modern luxe theme. Linens are definitely of the high Hilton quality. The staff are Great! We took a cab to the ballpark, which worked out perfectly. We returned in time to have room service ( it was my birthday...I needed cake! ) When our room service waiter found out it was my birthday yesterday, he comped the cake we had ordered. I slept like a baby, and checkout was as easy as pie! We'll definitely be back. read more

This hotel is a bit gross. The first sign was the smell in the hallway from the parking garage to the main lobby. Not totally disgusting, but a bit smelly. Full disclosure: I don't know if the rooms vary because I've only stayed in one. Maybe there are rooms in better condition, nut the room I was in is really below my cleanliness standard, and definitely below any other Hilton I've stayed at. There was hair on the bathroom door, what appears to me mold on the wall, grime in the bathrooms, and fruit flies in the room. I don't know if it's just one, I've tried killing it, but a full 24 hours later and it's still here. Yuck, yuck, yuck! I have no aversion to old buildings, but this room is just not cleaned properly. Also, there wasn't a proper curtain on the window when I checked it. They did place one on the second day. It's nice to not flash downtown as I'm getting dressed in the morning. I'm giving it two stars because the lobby is quite nice and I like that it's got a bar which is convenient. Also, staff has been really nice!! We were given a room on the top floor that was lovely and remodeled... but when we went to pull out the sofa bed we had requested, it was non existant. Bummer. We ended up on the 14th floor. The room was nice but dingy. The bathroom has seen better days. This hotel has a vintage (another word for old/outdated) vibe I would say, but it's lacking some other commodities to make it better. The first thing it's lacking is free parking. I've never been to a hotel that makes its guest pay for parking. Then again, I've never had to pay for a downtown hotel. Maybe that's what downtown hotels do. However, it was $26.00 per overnight parking. We stayed there for two nights, so the total was $52.00. I think that's ridiculous. The breakfast also was not complementary. It was $10 per person for breakfast but that didn't include warm food. You had to pay an additional $5.50 per person to get warm food like scrambled eggs and bacon. Those things are so cheap, so the price seemed unreasonable. My total bill for breakfast came out to be $40 (this included tip). I could have gotten a really good lunch with that money. The room was mediocre. The set up was strange. The TV was on the side of the bed, so one person had to tilt their head up to see the screen at all times. The toilets looked a bit disturbing to me. It looked a little out of place because it didn't have that top. I confused if I was in a bathroom stall or not. There wasn't a refrigerator either. Luckily, it's winter, so we put our food near the cold window. The humidity was too low in the room. I woke up both mornings with a dry mouth. I tried this place because it was on Groupon ($90/ night). Even with cheaper room prices, the additional costs made this place unworthy. You know what the regular price is for our room? $346! Who would pay that much for a place like this. I don't get it. read more

If you need a place to stay in Milwaukee, this is it. We attend every year in January and everyone remembers us, is so super sweet to us, and the rooms are always wonderful. The price is reasonable, too. It's close to a lot of places that are walking distance or a quick Lyft drive. Monarch Lounge is nice for a not bar atmosphere. My only minor complaint is sometimes there is live music and while that might add to it, the sound can get so loud that you can't speak to anyone. But that's not the Hilton's fault, it's the performers. Millie is also the best dog and so kind. read more

First off, parking is $25 a day, let that sink in for a minute. Two days of covered parking equals the price of a 14oz dry-aged Boneless Rib-Eye you could have eaten at the Milwaukee Chophouse. There is no valet parking, let that sink in for another minute. Wander further down Wisconsin Avenue and at the lower end of the Hilton family of hotels, the Hampton Inn has valet parking. I probably shouldn't complain about the old hotel room I was staying in for these two days, I was here for a security conference, but opening the bathroom door and getting beamed by the hair-dryer hanging from a hook wasn't the welcome I was looking for. But it gave me pause to admire the size of the bathroom, the paint over the chipped paint on the doorframe, or where I could put my dopp kit on this very small sink area. Making my way through my corner room, (something that I had paid an extra $15 a night for) expecting to get a room with a window on one wall followed up with a window on another wall, ended up being in a corner, with two windows on the same wall, I bashed my shin on the corner of something bad enough to make it bleed. Don't expect the water pressure to blast you out of the shower like some Hilton's have a way of doing, I have more water-pressure out of my garden hose than I had in my corner room. After one night, I got a text message from the hotel, asking to rate the stay on a scale of 1 to 10, I'm a Gold HiltonHonors member so I stay at a fair number of Hilton's, Hampton Inn's, Doubletree and the like, and found this about a 4, which the front desk was extremely prompt with calling to see what they could do. I wasn't aware of the price of parking at the time otherwise I would have called it a 3, but they offered a good number of points or a discount, I opted for the points, but here's the thing, all these issues with the room and the price of the parking should be a non-issue as I see its been addressed by other Yelp reviews. Seems the Marcus Corporation, which also owns the Pfister Hotel and InterContinental Milwaukee would rather pay out points or discounts than have happy guests filling out four and five-star reviews and that's a real shame. read more

If you can find a different place, go there. I'm just going to follow up on my previous Google review. I rated Hilton poorly because my girlfriend almost got electrocuted from the outlet plug coming with the plug to the devise she had plugged in. It arced enough to burn the wood next to the plug and residue from the flash was quite visible. First, the front desk offered a free coffee and a free breakfast. Seriously? This incident took out all the power to our room and who knows how many others? This wasn't a little spark. The loss of power cut out power to my CPAP as well. Yes, I'm one of the 22 million Americans with sleep apnea. I guess it could have been more serious if I was on more critical equipment. Instead of calling us or checking on what had happened, they sent me a bill and compensated us for our stay. That would be the least they could do. I checked my statements and I did receive a bill with a zero balance. I check today and I was charged the full amount. That stay cost me a third of one of my paychecks. It may not mean much to the affluent, but it does to me. How Hilton took advantage of this situation is really quite despicable. I will inform the organizers of the event I attended that I will no longer be associated with Hilton Hotels from here on out, nor their event as long as Hilton is the host. Oh man, I really don't like writing negative reviews but I'd definitely suggest staying elsewhere. We got the Hotwire deal for a Saturday night stay that set us back around $85. We stayed here a couple of years ago and thought it was pretty nice, but last night's stay was a different story. On a positive note, the elegant lobby and friendly front desk staff made a positive first impression. There was a even an adorable golden doodle assisting the concierge. However, they upcharged us $15 for a lake view room. Upon entering the room, there was no lake view to be seen. So, my hubby had to trudge back down and try again. On the second try, we did receive a lake view but the window was so dirty, it was hard to appreciate the vista. I agree with other reviewers that the hotel is showing its age with plenty of wear. We left a hotel near mlk airport for this at a last minute book because our 1st hotel was a horrible experience. This hotel made up for it in the upmost way. Complementary waters upon check in. Friendly and smiling staff. What a difference. The hotel is gorgeously decorated. Coffee bean coffee and TEA inside hotel room. Nice touch . Beds comfy Room spacious enough. Safe inside room. After years of being a loyal Hilton Honors member, I phoned into this hotel to cancel weekend room rentals and the on duty manager refused to do so. The only reason this cancelation was needed is my son was just notified that he would not be graduating from college until after summer school. I could not believe that the manager was so inconsiderate as to not simply cancel any charges. I will def. not plan our next Milwaukee stay at this hotel. read more

Parking is far and expensive. No door men to even drop off your bags. How a major hotel like this has no valet is shocking! Front desk staff was very nice! As a diamond member who stays at many Hilton properties, I will avoid this one next time I'm in town. read more

Staying at a Hilton used to mean you paid a little more for a high standard - this location certainly not living up to expectations - I booked the City Center as an Honors member for a special occasion with my spouse Sleep accommodations lacking - we only slept about 2 hours tossing and sliding into the middle of this soft, old or cheap mattress which was more like a hammock - with head and feet inches above your middle ( were not heavy ) you had to try to cling to the side to stay apart enough to sleep otherwise you would to the hole in the middle of the bed while you tried to sleep - so bad we thought about checking out at 2 am - manager said they would "look into it" instead of refunding our stay all together" Rate issue: booked room with parking on line using senior rate check box and it showed 179- same as with our Senior rate on line - when I got there and I asked for the senior rate and I was told they could not tell me (at the reception desk) After some discussion they told me they would charge $155 but they actually billed $206 Even little things like only 1 creamer for coffee and heck where was my cookie when I checked in ( I know ...) read more
