The bad: Room needs some TLC and updating. A drawer on the chest of drawers would not stay shut and kept opening like a ghost drawer. Some areas needed a little dusting and cleaning. For some reason they wouldn't give us our Hilton Points.... and the toilet was super short (kinda funny). The good: Good location downtown, nice restaurants in hotel and GORGEOUS lobby. read more

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was kind of good, but kind of bad. The lobby is really impressive and the person checking us in was able to work some magic so we could stay in the same room the entire time (we were going to have to switch after the first night). That was super helpful! The room itself was fine - we had a suite with a king bed, living room, and bar and it was pretty nice. The furniture was a bit of a hodgepodge of pieces thrown together that didn't really match, but I'm guessing they are gearing up for some renovations. We ate at the pub and the steakhouse and both were good and very accommodating. The steak was very, very good. The big drawback was housekeeping. The first night we had to call for additional towels, pillows, bedding, and shampoo because there were 4 of us with only 2 towels and one tiny travel-sized shampoo & nothing to make up the sofa bed. The next day we returned to find 3 towels, more shampoo and the sudden appearance of conditioner, which would have come in handy earlier. So we had to call again for another towel. They restocked our coffee pods with one regular & one decaf, so my husband and I had to duke it out the next day but no biggie. The third day we had no housekeeping at all. We returned to our room at 5pm to find the bed unmade, wet towels not replaced, etc. So we called again and a nice man showed up and did his best, although I don't think he had ever cleaned a room before. We got towels and replacement toiletries, and I asked for more regular coffee pods, no decaf...we received 1 regular and 3 decaf but there's a Starbucks in the hotel so we did survive. All of our garbage stayed and after the dude left we discovered we had about 1/4 roll of toilet paper left for our family. So we called again. There is a dog who serves as "concierge" that was adorable and made my day every day, so that was cool! read more

Beware if you don't want to be charged every single day with random amounts that you weren't told about. 3 days after checking out we've still been charged with random amounts and the hotel doesn't respond. Our total stay was around $300 and we've been charged almost $1,000 with no answers. The hotel was not clean and the ONLY decent part was the location. EDIT: I just found out a couple of the approved charges on my card were to another guests breakfast. They couldn't explain what happened and have put my personal information at risk. read more

I went thru Priceline twice to stay at the Hilton. Both times I got the room for $80. An excellent deal! The Hilton offers clean rooms with in-room amenities such as coffee. There's an amazing restaurant on the main floor with an excellent bar and wide tap beer selection. Parking is validated. Overall I give the Hilton 5 stars for the friendly staff, location to down town, parking , and cleanliness of rooms. read more

Randomly, I've stayed here twice in the last month. If I had written a review after the first stay, I would've given a 2/2.5-star rating. We had a one bed room during that stay, and the room was small, kind of sad, and had a window view of a brick wall. The small hallway, which leads to the main room was tiny, and the bathroom was very cramped as well. For reference, the full length mirror was on the outside of the bathroom door, and if you stood against the opposite wall in this small hallway, you'd barely be able to see your entire reflection. However, I'm back here now, and we're in a room with two full beds; it feels both more spacious and cozy. We also have a small fridge in our room this time (we didn't the first time). I guess they don't give the nicest rooms to guests who book through another website (for us it was a Groupon deal). For booking this time, my friend called and made the reservation and got a discount with her military ID. The staff is okay. I didn't interact with them much this second time, but when we were checking in the first time, the front desk man only looked at my boyfriend and not me when we approached the counter. I hate that. The lobby restrooms are kept really clean, and they have some fruity water near the elevators (no easy water fountains that I saw). The Starbucks in the hotel is a huge plus in these colder months. read more

The Pros: I love the old ambiance in this hotel from the plush carpeting, to the legit old oil paintings, to the old-time jazz piped into the elevator. There is history here and they don't make hotels like this anymore. The staff is super friendly. Millie, the concierge dog is The Best Part of the Hilton in Milwaukee. The location is convenient to many things in town. I liked the Crabtree & Evelyn hygiene products. The Cons: There was no fresh or real circulating air in my hotel room. There was an ancient fan unit that vaguely pushed air around but otherwise the rooms feel suffocating for this reason alone. No, you can't open a window. The in-room coffee is horrible. Skip it and go to the Starbucks downstairs. I would stay here again but would ask for a room with a window that opens... read more

Had more expectations of this place for the price. Rooms are decent size but very old. Bathrooms have mold and don't seem too clean. The room we were in had a smell in the bathroom. Lobby area and restaurants seem really nice. Please note that you have to pay extra for parking in this hotel. Location wise it is in a great spot and close to many things at a walking distance. We were out of state visitors and didn't have to spend too much time in the room. Overall a decent experience. read more

Too expensive for what you get! Wifi cost $10 per day, no breakfast, no fridge (costs extra),bathroom & shower together so you trip over your spouse while getting dressed, no full length mirror or even any other mirror outside cramped bathroom, shower drains slow & water pressure low on sink. Lighting is bad too! Next time we will stay at a residence inn for less than half the price. Hilton hotels are not what they used to be!! read more

This non smoking hotel features a fitness center, laundry and dry clean services, conference rooms, gift shop, restaurant/bar, and parking. The fitness center (floor 7) is below adequate for a Hilton. The free weights are scarce and limited weight options. There's a leg press and a couple benches, along with a few treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes. All equipment needs severe updates. Haven't been to the Chophouse, but Miller Time Pub and Grill has pretty good food. A colleague insists the cheese curds are amazing. Over a dozen beers on tap and TV galore to catch any game that's on. Last call is listed at 12, but have been told 12:30. Happy hour is offered at the Chophouse 5-7. There's also a cafe and a Starbucks that open at 6:30 and 6, respectively. Rooms are pretty decent. Stayed on a higher floor, but had a boring view. Everything was very clean except the TV guide paper had some real gross stickiness on it. Shower pressure is phenomenal, all typical hygiene essentials were available. Ice is on every level, vending is floor 6. Didn't have a chance to really roam around the area, but I did see a 24/7 convenience store just around the corner. Also there's free wifi. read more

I found this place in Priceline. It was 50 something dollars for 4 star hotel and a quick getaway for my wife and I. It's not a modern hotel and you can tell that building has its history. It's a fantastic hotel with that early 20th century vibe. The gym was bigger then most places I have been too. The beds are super comfy. Bathrooms are a bit tiny, but that is how it was built back in the day. I like the fact that Miller's Pub and Grill is attached to the hotel. (Important fact...when touring Millers Brewery they will give you tokens for free beers at vaious locations that include this one). I got not beef with this place. Great location, free parking, and all the services you need. If it's on Priceline again I will stay here again. read more

The beds are a millions years old. Not comfortable at all. The bathrooms are so small you can't shut the door unless you maneuver behind it. It is right in the center of the city. In the middle of it all - you can walk the city too which is a plus. The room was well apportioned and comfy - they let me check in at 10 am which was super super nice. And they let me check out late. Next time you book a suite at this hotel, be sure to bring your own glasses...and pack a steak knife! We attended a wedding here on 10/11/19 and booked a suite for the evening stay. This was a suite with a wet bar and the room contained a grand total of TWO glasses, that was it! A call to the front desk and an Email to "Ashley" of their staff yielded no responses and no additional glasses. At dinner we were served a beef dish and the beef, while tasty, was not easily cut with a butter knife. When I asked our server for a steak knife she told me she was not allowed to go downstairs to request one. I felt like we were in a low budget motel...not a Hilton property and a one star rating was even too high for this hotel. read more

I have to agree- this place isn't quite up to snuff for their class. 1) I was put high up on the topmost floor and the elevator didn't functional entirely properly. It seemed to almost struggle to open at the top 2) The bathroom was a handicap bathroom even though I'm clearly not handicapped. The bathroom floor was dingy to the point that I waited to shower at a $60 motel the next day. 3) Various parts of the room were missing end-caps and other finishing elements. 4) The parking fee was financial rape. $25 a night for guests! This has officially become our home away from home (Chicago). We've stayed in both the newer and older sections of this hotel so just a tip- request a room in the newer side for better updated rooms and a fridge! Love that they have a "hotel dog" - Millie. She hangs out front by concierge. Nice touch, HMC! Love the breakfast buffet here - we are honors members so even though we get access to the lounge, we still come to the restaurant for breakfast to avoid smug business travelers. The service here too is always welcoming and friendly! Parking is available across the street (for a fee) as there really isn't any street parking. There's a shopping center within walking distance and a Starbucks in house. All in all, pretty convenient location for us whenever we're up in Milwaukee. read more

We stayed here for one night last weekend while attending a wedding hosted onsite. The hotel itself was nice enough, but our room was absolutely awful. Stay far, far away from room 1267. We reserved a room with a king sized bed. The bed in our room was a queen. I sleep in a king every night at home, so I'm well aware of the size it should be and this was definitely not a king. The pillows weren't full sized pillows either. Additionally, the mattress was so old that you immediately rolled to the middle as soon as you laid down. Within five minutes of getting in bed, I knew there was no way I could comfortably sleep in it. So I went to the pull out couch, which was not much better but at least my husband and I weren't crashing into each other. Unfortunately there were no additional blankets or bedding for the pull out couch anywhere in the room, so I had to sleep with a sheet from the bed. Yes, we could have called downstairs for more linens, but it was after midnight at this point and I was exhausted. Even from the 12th floor, road noise was incredibly loud. Needless to say, I hardly slept and we checked out before 8am, desperate to get home to try to get some sleep. Now perhaps other rooms are much more comfortable, but we will not be back to find out. The hotel was blah and frankly outdated and dirty. We paid with a debit card and the front desk over charged our 2 night, 3 day stay for more than $800 with of charges. When we asked them how come, they told us "Labor day weekend messes our systems up." After checking out they have accrued more charges on our checking account. We called and they did not have an answer why they accrued more charges, and that they charged our account with someone else's breakfast. Pretty art deco style hotel. There was no mini fridge in the room and was told there wasn't any. However after speaking to another person staying there they had one ??? The starbucks in the hotel closes at 2 pm ??! The miller time bar i'm the hotel is convenient and fun but the food is ehh. The tomato soup is like a bowl of marinara sauce. Bartenders are nice. Be aware when out front there is ALOT of panhandling and if you smoke expect to be asked for a cigarette every 5 minutes. Rob who is out front during the day as a concierge is the best in the hotel. His personality and energy is amazing. We hope the hotel recognizes what a gem they have in him !!!! read more

I was in Milwaukee for an interview and my program paid for me to stay at the Hilton City Center while I was in town. I felt very welcomed and well taken care of. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is even a resident dog to greet and play with residents during business hours! The architecture is absolutely breathtaking. It is original and antique and gave me 1920s Great Gatsby vibes. I used the fitness center which had all the standard aerobic and weightlifting equipment. It was stocked with green apples, a water cooler, and face towels. It does feel a little cramped and can get stuffy if busy, but it gets the job done. It was a little confusing navigating back to my room because all the stairways I could find had electrical shock handles that stopped me from opening them so I just had to use the elevator. It was late in the day when I arrived so I did not get to explore the neighboring attractions, but I did get to catch the Voice and This Is Us on TV. I ordered room service which was a little pricey, but was delivered within 20 min. I got the Wisconsin mini sliders which I highly recommend if you want some sexy comfort food. The meat and cheese were quality and the remoulade and arugula sent it over the top! I got it with fries which I would describe as scrumptious, crispy, potato wedges. read more

DOUBLE CHECK UR BANK STATEMENTS after staying here My friend n I got a room here n he got charged an extra $89 on top of the $40 (which that we understand n we were gonna get it back ) but $89 for what ? He called front desk n reimbursed n no explanation n just a sorry ? I also got charged an extra $50 on top of the $25 that I payed for parking n called them n she just said "oh ok sorry anything else I can help u with??" Where to begin? How about that they block review sites like yelp and travel advisor. Hilton should be embarrassed to include this property under their name. Don't use a travel website like Expedia. You are considered lower class customer and bumped from room request. We booked two king size room and got zero. And told why. Nice. Then the rooms are so old. Plumbing fixtures are public restroom style. Wallpaper is old and stained. Carpet worn thin. Cleaning staff left hair from some previous traveler on the old, cracked tile floor for us. If you think the staff must make the difference, wrong. Snooty, disinterested, not particularly nice. This place is terrible. read more

This place is starting to grow on me. We've stayed here twice now and I think it's my preferred place to stay in Milwaukee. They seem to always have deals on Hotwire.com (it's the $59 option in downtown Milwaukee), which is totally awesome. The rooms are large and the linens are excellent. Comfy beds, lots of pillows. Flat screen TV, in-room Lavazza brewing station (awesome!) and a work station. In/out parking garage connected to the hotel (about $25 per day), two restaurants in the building and close to everything. This is my go-to hotel in Milwaukee! read more

Very pleased with this hotel. It's an older building but they've updated the room amenities nicely. Free wifi in the lobby and good wifi in the rooms as well (although a charge unless you are a gold or diamond member). There are three restaurants in or attached and there's also a Starbucks next to the lower lobby. One of the nice perks is the 'habitrails' connecting the hotel to the convention center next door (and to the parking garage). Very handy in the winter months. Service is excellent and the staff handled all questions and requests with aplomb. About the only negative are the waits for the elevators and occasional room next door noises coming through. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of if that bothers you. Overall I'd recommend this hotel and would stay here next time I'm in town. read more

Not bad, pretty good. But not AMAZING as TripAdvisor has this place listed. This place is conveniently located in downtown Milwaukee. The foyer area is breathtaking. There is a Starbucks on site, as well as several restaurants-The Chophouse and Miller Time Pub & Grill. They also have a lounge area which is a great meeting or quiet work space. Also a plus is "Millie", the in-house dog here. There is something to be said about a place that not only IS pet friendly but HAS its own pet. Big thumbs up for that one. My only gripes for this place would have to be that it is noisy. I know it's an older building and perhaps a lot of it can't be helped...but; I became aware of a strong bass sound pretty early on in our stay and thought it must be traffic. I never located where the actual noise was coming from but it was definitely music because you could tell the space in-between "sets". I'm glad I brought a sound machine, otherwise I don't think I could have slept. The concierge service was spot on. We booked our hotel through Hotwire. We didn't realize our booking was for two separate twin beds (insert I Love Lucy theme music here). Without being prodded, they upgraded us to a King at no extra charge. Yuh-yeeuh! Very large hotel in the heart of the downtown. Our check-in staff, Ethan, was full of charm and charisma so the start of our stay started off on a great note. The room was clean and functional. The bed linens were very comfortable and practical. Everything was in working order. It was quiet and I got a great nights sleep and a decent hot shower. The parking garage next door did cost me an additional 25.00 which a a tad on the expensive side but I did not see many options with parking so I just sucked it up and went with it. You will end up walking a little so make sure you have a light load to carry. They do have doormen and hops available and they were all friendly and johnny-n-the spot to help a woman out. They have a bar/lounge and two dining establishments attached also. read more

This hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. There customer service is not up to par. We stayed here one night, while in Milwaukee for a concert. Around 1 a.m. in the morning, we hear a knock on our door and open it up to a staff member, who only wanted to speak to the registered guest. My friend had to get the registered guest out of bed to come speak to the staff member who was giving us a noise complaint. Three of us were in bed already, all of the lights were out, and we were all in pajamas, and she kept insisting that we were the ones being noisy. Where is the logic in that? My friend then pointed to the room next door to us, that had the music blaring (you could hear it from the elevator when we came back) and you could smell "something." She insisted that it was us and then said that she would be kicking out all of the guests if we didn't quiet down. I do expect more from Hilton staff and strongly recommend that you teach your employees how to recognize an obvious mistake in judgement, instead of being combative and threatening to kick guests out. You already disrupted our sleep in the middle of the night, the least you could do is apologize when you chose the wrong room to blame for noise. I will most likely chose another hotel when staying in Milwaukee next. read more

I must agree that this hotel has location...conveniently located in Downtown Milwaukee and not too far from the highway and the convention center. But the magic stops there. I booked a junior suite to share with 3 of my friends on a recent road trip to Milwaukee and we were excited by the information that was provided online. Now, as a Hilton Diamond member, this property fell WAY short of my expectations...especially for a Downtown hotel....and I have stayed at many Hilton properties domestically and internationally, from likes of the Waldorf in NYC and the Drake in Chicago...to Hampton Inns everywhere. Now, the first room we checked into was VERY nice. It was on the top floor, and spacious enough for all 4 of us staying there. ONE problem...no pull out couch. After contacting them regarding this dilemma, they told me that they did not have a comparable room to check us in, so they changed our room to one that had a pullout couch. Sidenote (even as a HH Diamond), when I called them about this, it sounded like they were doing me a favor...how about some service sometimes? When I arrived into the second room, I was disheartened by just looking at it. But considering we were there for only two nights, we figured it was no big deal...until we realized the AC was not functioning properly. Alas, the following morning, I was provided coupons to enter the Hilton Exec Lounge for a complimentary breakfast. I am usually very skeptical about breakfast buffets, especially free ones; however, I have had great experiences at other Hilton properties when it comes to this. So when we got there for breakfast, I have NEVER had scrambled eggs sooooo dried up in my life. It was like eating a piece of sponge. And the bacon has been sitting on that buffet tray for a while too. VERY disappointing. Instead, we went downstairs to the restaurant and opted to PAY for breakfast. On the upside, the bar at the bottom floor of this hotel was very nice. We did have a great night out hanging there and the waitress was phenomenal. Very attentive. I just wish the hotel was a bit more accommodating as well! read more
