The food here is fantastic. I took my friend here for her birthday and we each had the Chicken Tikka Marsala with rice and garlic Naan. Perfect amount of spice for the chicken Tikka. We each ordered a glass of wine and the portion was very generous. The only complaint I have is that we could barely understand the server. They need someone who has a better grasp of the English language and who speaks clearly. Also, when I paid the bill I asked for change and he never came back. I gave this place a few chances recently. It used to be a solid 4-star restaurant before the pandemic. But no longer the case. In the past two months, the evening dinner service has been super slow. It takes us an hour or more to get our food after we place the order. The food is overpriced, especially the curry. I measured an untouched curry that I packed to take home - it was about half a cup of curry. That order of vegetable curry cost about $17. Not sure if they provide the same volume for take out orders. But the dine-in order that I packed away without eating was a rip-off. The wide but shallow dishes provide the illusion of quantity. Most recently, we ordered many things and paid nearly $35 per person. The taste was not impressive at all. Not terrible but not too flavorful either. In today's economy, there are better meals you can eat at nicer sit-down restaurants for $35 per person. They've lost the original, simple flavor to the dishes. Everything is laden with cream now and less in volume. It is just bland and small. They might be struggling to survive. First, they need to update their hours. We came Saturday at 4 but they didn't open until 5. We killed an hour across the street at Starbucks. We started with the Himalayan Platter, a sampler of shrimp, chicken, potato and vegetable treats with two sauces. Very tasty. Then we had the bread basket which consisted of 4 pieces of 4 types of naan; potato, garlic, cheese and plain. It came out burn the roof of your mouth hot and was delicious. I had the Nepali Thali platter with lamb, spicy. I originally ordered it with goat, but it wasn't available. The lamb was very tender, not gamey, and spiced right for me. Ysabel had the Lamb Roll which she enjoyed, but had to take half home as she was full from the appetizers. Sammy had the Lamb Vindaloo which she enjoyed and had leftovers as well. Hans had the Chau Mine w/ chicken, a huge plate of thick spaghetti like noodles with veggies. He took some home too. The food was very good and the portions ample. This restaurant serves consistently amazing food with good portions. I always order the chicken tikka masala and love it; also great for my little boy, very mild yet flavorful. Different than what a lot of people call "Indian" food, but just as delicious. My husband loved his lamb korma! The owner, Gocool, is a really warm, genuine man and even brought our son a delicious mango lassi on the house...not too sweet, really tasty! DISRESPECTFUL COMMENTS MADE TO ME BY AN EMPLOYEE, THEN THEY ADDED A TIP I DID NOT LEAVE! Had a really questionable experience here. I was picking up a carry-out order I had phoned in earlier when one of the male employees yelled over to me from where he was supposed to be cooking to make a sexist, assumptive comment on my appearance while I was minding my own business waiting to pay at the counter. I'm not one who is easily offended or even minds a comment usually, but even I was like this is way over the line of what is acceptable. Especially for a business. I'm not even going to say here what he thought I looked like because it doesn't matter, I'm certainly not wanting to offend somebody else, but let's just say it was not a flatering comparison by anyone's standards at all and was not a compliment in any way. There were two other employee witnesses standing right there who stayed out of it and did absolutely nothing. So basically nobody stepped in and told this guy to stop or that this kind of behavior was uncalled for. They didn't even look surprised quite frankly, like this could easily happen all the time, even after I quite disapprovingly questioned him myself on what he had said to me. It was unprofessional and inappropriate on so many levels. Women shouldn't have to be in the position of feeling uncomfortable, scrutinized and under a microscope when they're just trying to pick up some dinner. This guy should have been doing his job, not yelling unsolicited comments across the room telling anybody how he thinks they look that day. I was so shocked and stunned, almost thinking I had somehow misunderstood him, but NO. I really should have just canceled the order and walked out, but I had the pen in my hand to sign and said to myself "well, there's no way I'm leaving a tip!" But guess what... they magically added one for themselves anyway! The total was $40.68 and when I checked my statement online they had conveniently upped it to $48.68 giving themselves a nice $8.00 tip for take-out on top of insulting me! I wonder if they actually forged a line through the 0 I wrote to make it an 8 or if they just pretend it's an input error if they get caught, but it was deliberate. They probably do stuff like this all the time. Already disputed this contrived total with my bank and luckily still have my original receipt. Seriously, be wary of this place. And if you're a female going there by yourself certainly don't expect to be treated with any respect or dignity. You're just an object for them to judge like it's nothing and normal, make comments about and then take extra money from after you leave. Oh, and as far as the food goes I ordered spicy curry sauce and it was mild so they got my order wrong too! read more
