I had the buffet twice here. There is a varied selection for lunch and dessert. The naan, rice, and butter chicken were delicious. The mango dessert dish is a must try. There is ample seating and the overall atmosphere is lovely. I really enjoyed the traditional decor and portraits of Nepal/Tibet. Can't speak for the menu outside the buffet but the buffet was definitely more Indian than Himalayan cuisine. I know there are some similarities in the dishes but I felt like I was at an Indian restaurant. The food was still great tho. We arrived at our hotel and where looking for a place to grab lunch. Himalayan Grill was right across from our hotel. My husband mentioned it look like a place we had stopped at ten years earlier while driving through Flagstaff. We both remembered really liking the food so we decided to try it again. We were not disappointed. The food was as delicious as we remembered. The chef has a wonderful way of blending spices that gives the dishes a lovely and complex flavor. Service can be a bit slow but take your time and enjoy the fabulous aromas that linger in the air. read more

We ordered take out from here while staying in Flagstaff in February, and while it was satisfyingly warm it really wasn't the spicy, flavorful Himalayan food I was hoping for. My dish was missing a lot of flavor (I ordered the butter chicken), and my husband's dish (Saag Paneer) was a bit better but not outstanding. I do want to give a shoutout for the amazing service we experienced while waiting, and I would not hesitate to go in for a meal to try it again. I think it would be worth another try. read more

OMG - they have this incredibly delicious special for two. My mother and I ordered it and we fell in-love with the aroma and taste. We were just strolling through Flagstaff looking for a decent place to eat and luckily stumbled upon this gem. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are likely to be drawn to the ambiance which will make you feel like you are somewhere in Nepal. The whole place is neatly decorated with antiques and artworks from Nepal and Tibet. As for the food, this place did not dissapoint. I ordered the Non-veg thali, and as soon as the food arrived at my table, my jaw dropped due to the monstrosity of the thali. Never have I ever seen so many dishes packed into a single thali. The plethora of meats will keep confusing as to which bite to take next as each one is equally delicious. Everything was a m a z i n g! Samosas were large, generously filled, but not heavy. Chutneys were delicious. Garlic naan was light and fluffy, just the right amount of garlic. Mushroom masala was smooth and creamy and loaded with great tastes. We ordered it mild which was apparently a zero on the spicy scale. The place was super clean, smelled a bit of incense and the tandoor oven, and beautifully decorated. The staff was very attentive and so friendly. This is a world class restaurant, better than most places we've tried in Phoenix or anywhere else! We will definitely be back. read more

The cauliflower saffron is fragrant, creamy and the cauliflower is cooked perfectly--tender but not mushy. I always order the sag paneer. Unfortunately there is no option for zero stars. Dined here on 12 December 2021.I typically comment on restaurants for two reasons: really good or really bad. The service at this restaurant, for me, was horrendous. I stepped through the doors and asked to dine in alone and the manager try to sit me at a small table in the dark by the bathroom door, which I told him would not happen. He then sat me a table of four and when my lamb biryani was ready he walked by and basically threw it at the other end of the table away from where I was without saying a word and kept walking. I would like to speculate as to the reason why this particular staff member was so disrespectful but I'll just leave it at this. To top it all off, I have had lamb biryani at several other restaurants and this dish was by far the least flavorful I've had. Although it was a large portion, which I barely ate it, I turn down the to go box they offered me. Lastly, my Diet Coke was a flat as it could be. read more

We were visiting Flagstaff and we decided to get indian food for dinner. We ordered daal fry, vegan tofu kadai , onion kulcha , chilli naan. We asked for medium spicy heat . Only reason is - it is on our way to phoenix. Once we entered there is no one to guide us to the table. I see there are staff staring at us but none came up to help us. However we found our own table and there starts the my review exactly. Food options are very less and the quality of the food is not satisfying. Nothing is spicy .More like the toddler food I say. It is 1 PM and I hope that's is the right time for lunch, but most of the dishes are empty and there is no refilling done. Above that , you find the staff gossiping around but not prompt servicing like asking for drinks, refilling your water glasses, cleaning the plates done. Nothing !! Himalayan Grill saved my life. Okay that's a touch dramatic, but I was swimming in a weekend of pizza with a picky teenage eater and couldn't take it anymore. I had yelped restaurants in Flag before we drove up, and after yet another meal of pizza at Picasso's the day before, I told Sally I didn't care if she just watched me eat, we were getting Indian food. We stopped in for take out, and I gazed longingly at the $8.99 lunch buffet, though since she wouldn't eat any of it, I knew Sally wouldn't last. The menu was extensive, and I was starving, so I ordered the first thing I saw: Vegetarian Thall ($17.95). As I waited I started to regret such a huge food order, and when it was ready I found out they'd run out of containers and had filled styrofoam cups with all the dishes, and put it all in a massive box. Sally eyed me carefully, "you're going to eat ALL of that?" Turned out to be the best thing I could have ordered. I swear to the eating gods this combination dinner lasted me THREE meals, with yet more I had to throw out. The combo included a samosa, pappadam, bengan paratha, vegetable korma, dal, potatoes, curry sag paneer, raita, rice, roti and those sweet donut hole thingies covered in sauce (gulab jamun?). It was so good Sally told me I smelled like Indian food for the rest of her visit. Yay! Oh and I'd ordered Medium spicy for my dishes and actually got medium spicy. My husband found this place when he lived in Flagstaff so he took me here for the first time in 2009 and since than this is the best Himalayan cuisine I ever had in the States. I am from Nepal and I have tried pretty much all the Nepali cuisine in the west cost and this is Authentic Nepali food !!!!! If you are ever here please order momo (healthy and yummy). I am in love with this restaurant. Everything about it is fantastic. The people who work here are so friendly, and they are very quick to get you seated and get you served. The restaurant itself isn't huge, but there are a few booths and several tables. I've never had to wait for a table, but then I've never been there on the weekend or during peak dinnertime hours. The lunch buffet was really good and offered a lot of different options. I filled up on chicken tikka masala, of course, which is what I always do. Their chicken tikka masala is fantastic, and about as good or better as the stuff that I used to get when I lived out in California. They have an ample beer and wine selection, and also frozen drinks and fresh fruit drinks. I know that there are other Indian-style restaurants here in town, but this one is so good that I just don't feel the need to go anywhere else. :) read more

I have never been disappointed with any choice from the menu (and there is a LOT to choose from) and my favorite section is the authentic Himalayan options! I tried the place bcuz of recommendations. The food was pretty good. 4 Stars!! But the service and management was extremely poor. The servers were nice and quick but poorly managed by the older gentleman, likely the manager. I had to ask for refills and ask when might the rest of the plate arrive. Another table asked a couples time for food status. The manager seated me and didn't not take anytime to orientate me on food. He expected me to order immediately and was frustrated.
