Sales guy was nice, but terrible finance manager. The guy was super aggressive, didn't explain paperwork well at all, practically wanted to grab the card out of my hand and push it into the machine himself to pay for the car. I bought a 2015 Corolla from these guys for over $13,000 It was advertised at around 93,000 miles in the paperwork, but the actual mileage on it was around 96,000. And after I bought the car, you would think they would show some courtesy but they did not. Worst part was the car had a tire pressure light that wouldn't turn off, so I told the sales guy about it, and he said he'll take it to get filled with air from the service guys, and he did, and he said drive around for a bit. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt and took it home and drove it for around 2 weeks and it still did not turn off So I gave them another call, and their service department ended up telling me they don't work on Toyotas, they only work on Hondas, even though they sold Toyotas. So I talked to the sale guy, he said he'll talk to his manager and give me a call back. Around a week later, I never got a call back and ended up taking the car in myself to a tire store, and it ended up being a busted rear tire that was not aligned correctly, and had to replace it out of pocket. 0 stars if I could and Please Please Please spend your money elsewhere. read more

Daughter took in car for oil and filter service. Upon pickup the service department recommended several other service items including new brakes. Took the car to an independent shop and another Honda dealer. Both verified brakes were fine. Asked service manager (Mike) at Honda's about discrepancy. Said he wanted the estimate sheet so he could address issue with service department. I had told him I was going to write a poor review if he did not respond. He said I needed to give him a chance to address the issue. Never got a response even though I took the time to meet his requests. Not new to Honda. We have previously purchased 5 new Hondas from Hinshaws and thought we had a good relationship. Very disappointed and not going back. read more

PREDATORY PRACTICES. Cashed out a 2023 Honda Pilot in February of 2023. Took it to the dealership for all scheduled maintenance. In May of 2025, my AC went out at 47k miles which was 17k outside the warranty. These guys diagnosed it and said my AC compressor had failed. Instead of informing me that I should request a reimbursement directly from Honda Motor Co. prior to getting it repaired, they tried to get me to trade my car in and take on a car payment WHEN MY CAR IS PAID OFF. These guys only care about your money just like every other dealership and they use predatory practices by trying to get people to trade their cars in instead of trying to actually help them. read more

Buying a car should be an experience that is exciting and in many ways easy, this was not my recent experience. This is my first time buying a car since 2006 and I did all my research, called different dealerships around the Puget Sound and was given the best deal over the phone by Hinshaw. When I got to the dealership random additions, like door sealant, had been added to the car that I was now responsible for and then all of a sudden a $3300 charge was added because we suddenly didn't meet a specific requirement that was previously discussed on the phone. I replied at 12:15 to make sure I wouldn't drive all that way (120 Miles) just to get lowballed or rejected. it's about a 2.5 hour drive for me to meet them. Giving one star cause their sales are predatory. I was buying parts when a salesman speaking to a Spanish speaking family with a barely English literate translator was hyping up 24% interest for a 20,000 car. Tells them he knows a buddy at the bank so he was gonna "call" his buddy at the "bank" and see if he can get it down. He comes back 5 mins later and tells them he spoke to said buddy and he is pleased to get them a 4% interest discount and that's why he's on their side! Whooopie! They just have to make a 700$ payment for 8 years. I hope they didn't buy from you cause I told them to go to BECU and get a car loan and to not buy a car from you. How can you live with yourself throwing out 20% interest?!? A good salesman watches out for his customers and tells them if it's a good or fair deal or a flat out bad deal. I did not hear him once say to maybe shop around and try to get a better interest rate somewhere else. That's just some dirtbag sales and if one does it they all do it. You don't get repeat customers by ripping people off! Giving the second star because their parts department is top notch but if I wasn't so impatient I would just order everything online. read more

They put incorrect vehicle description stickers on their cars making you think you're getting a really good deal when you're really not. 10/10 would not buy a car from here again. They also mess up on paperwork, have you come back to resign loan documents, and then let you know you have to pay more for licensing/registration which is probably due to their own error. Once confronting the sales person about it through text message (Nate)-- we were left on read. They just want your money, we were just foolish enough to think they had our best interest since we were referred to this dealership through a friend. Wish I would have checked here before I bought my car from them. Sold as a "perfect" car fax car, but have had the car 90 days and have had to replace all the brakes and now found out there's 3-4K in repairs needed for a torque converter. Seems they did not do any type of inspection on the vehicle because when I brought it to TOyota, it came right up on diagnostics. Now they won't take the vehicle back or remedy the situation. A car that I paid 10K for as a first car for my 16 year old is now totally unsafe to drive and worth about 3K with a 10K loan. Horrible business practices...they should be ashamed!!! read more

We were unable to turn the key in our ignition and had the car towed to Hinshaw. They said it needed a new ignition. The part was on back order and they had no idea when or if they would get it. I found the ignition from a company online. It arrived 2 days later. Then I had to have the car towed to a local locksmith. They found it did NOT need a new ignition. It just needed to have the graphite cleaned out of the cylinder and have a new key made. We had to incur the cost of renting a car plus 225$ for towing. If Hinshaw had done their job correctly, it would have been done quickly and at minimal expense. They also said they could not give me a price for trading the car in (which they suggested, although not officially), unless I was there. But they had my car, and I had no way to get there. I will avoid this dealership and suggest others do the same. read more

If you care about your car, don't take it here. Worst customer service and experience I've had at any dealership. I came in for an oil change (and only an oil change) and left with my Volk TE37 wheels being damaged. The manager wasn't willing to do anything about it, even upon agreeing with me that the rash was fresh. We looked over security footage and the camera didn't show my car that well, the close one didn't work (of course). I have videos of the manager picking off fresh metal scraps from my wheel at the dealership and then saying it wasn't them that did it. I haven't cleaned my wheels in about 2 weeks (as I don't drive my car often) so it's very obvious that the mark is fresh. It looks like the wheels hit the lift arm as they were putting my car on it. The surveillance video they showed me showed the service tech having to realign my car 5-6 times before he got it on, even stopping for a while in between (pretty strange). There's even a yellow mark on my tire that aligns perfectly with the scratch on my wheel and the yellow lift arm. On top of that, the manager claims that it's my fault and I brought my car in like this just so I can get a new set of wheels from them. It's unfortunate that it just comes down to it being my word against theirs and the manager not willing to make it right. If you have a Type R or any other Honda you care about, don't bring it to them!! read more

She was attentive to me even after striking a deal and while I was awaiting an approval. She conversed with me genuinely, and I felt relaxed and acknowledged. The team at Hinshaw's Honda was not overbearing or dismissive. They allowed me the time I needed to think over my offer and make a decision. On top of that, they gave me a fair and reasonable offer on a 2019 Honda Civic, as well as a fair trade value on my trade in. The total time I spent there from walking in the door to driving off with a new car was about 3 1/2 hours. I've been here a couple times for research and service. I think they're pretty fair, and you can see that they are very comfortable in what they're doing. Every time I've been here, they've always been clear and diligent about what was going on with my car and to my knowledge, they have yet to "stiff me". I never had a good experience with going to the dealership, and this specific location sure didn't make it any better. I did most of my car shopping online and over the phone, all because my husband hates sitting in the dealership hearing me haggle, plus taking three kids under the age of five isn't going to make it any better! I was clear and transparent with anyone and everyone I talked to that I have a trade in, how much my pay off amount is and I want my monthly payment at $***. Of course they all wanted me to come in with the vehicle so they can appraise it. I do not mind taking it in considering I have very low mileage on it for being only a 2-year old car! I dealt with Josh, a typical car salesman who's trying to make a living. He was not pushy, yet he wasn't trying to work hard so I can get the payments I want. He knew I was short in time, yet, he doesn't seem to care one bit. Finally he got the manager to test drive my car, great! The manager walked passed me, didn't say hi or acknowledged my existence. Whatever! I left cuz I had to pick up my daughter from school, Josh knew all about it, yet he still takes his precious time. I texted him I left, he goes, "I was just going to show you the numbers but you left." Well, that right there just lost my business with them and will never come back for any sales or services. The only stars they get is for Jeremy Rubin, he initially didn't get the deals I wanted, but he went out of his way to send me an email to wish me a Happy Thanksgiving. That alone, he deserves 4 stars. Sorry, your dealership sucks and so is your upper management. By the way, South Tacoma Honda gave me $700 below invoice, or $3,600 below MSRP! They will fix your car but you'll pay ridiculous charges. They'll rip you off and show you what inhumanity is like. I was overcharged and my bill was close to $2500 which will take me 1/2 month to work for. They did it all in a few hrs making that much of me. When I had to pick up my car back, it looked dirty with a lots of dust inside and outside, they didn't bother to vacuum and splash the car out for that amount of money they got from me. Please do not go here if you are a first time car buyer. They will take full advantage of you. Chris Yost (sales) is extremely unprofessional. He ran my credit with a bank without my permission. I specifically told him I don't want want a hard inquiry. We took the car for a drive and we came back and I asked him what the price was and he said "I don't know". He made me fill out a form and provide stubs. At the time I thought this is for a quote estimate. Then he came back and said I got approved??? I never even said I wanted the car which is wild. But being a first time buyer, I didn't know any better. They were trying to sell me a 2020 Honda for almost the same price as a 2023. with payments of 499 for 72 months with 3K down! Insane! Please always do the math of the overall price of the car. He then called me the next day and I told him how I discussed this with my Dad and he didn't approve of the offer, Chris' response was "I wouldn't let my Dad interfere" and when I asked why he ran my credit without my permission he said "you said you were going to buy a car at the end of this week anyways" but who said you can run my credit for approval? If you are a first time car buyer, please know the overall price of the car and do not focus on the monthly payment because that's how they get you, never provide them with your social until you are ready to purchase, and do not bring up a down payment unless you do not get approved.
