Freaking amazing!!! Went in to get my keratin treatment with Esteban, (its been a few years since my last one) he did such a great job as always! He applied "Magic Sleek" a new Keratin treatment line which is supposed to be more gentle, less harsh toxic chemicals, formaldehyde free and less smell. All I can say is Esteban knows how to work his magic hands my hair looks super healthy and super shiny Can't wait to come in for my color appoitnment with Yvette in a few weeks. I went in for a consultation and was very happy how it went. I had a momentarily lapse of judgement and dyed my hair dark. It looked horrible, I didn't like the new salon I tried in the city and after a month I needed to go back to blonde! When I went into HIP they were optimistic they could get me back to a normal human being color that looked good. I ended my consultation by making an appointment for color correction (apparently less damaging than straight up bleaching on already over-treated hair). For color correction, I had to put $100 down. When I went in for my actual appointment I was very happy with the service and treatment. Staff was all super duper friendly. The one negative is that if you go for just hair treatment or coloring you don't get a blowout as part of the deal. They shampoo & condition you at the end, but then you have to dry your own hair. I suck at doing this so I had them check the pricing of a haircut because then you get your blowout. I was quoted $80 for a trim. That's crazy. Now prices depend on what you have done (of course) and the person working on your do. I went this past week for a haircut and double processing which ran me $140 + tips. Be sure to bring cash for tips!!! And include a tip for the 'assistant' who does your hair washing. After coming away from my second trip there, I am really happy with my hair coloring - just love it! And I loved the haircut I got this week, too. It was a very basic trim but she was able to give my hair new life making it look more healthy and hopefully promoting growth. On a sidenote, everyone who works at HIP Salon is so attractive! Both the men and women are all so good looking, I feel like the ugly duckling every time I'm in here!!! That being said, they are also all so friendly and genuinely helpful & concerned about making your hair the best hair ever for you. I also love their online appointment option - makes my life much easier just punching everything in online. I'm really happy with HIP Salon and although I don't think I'm quite 'hip' enough to be seen here, I'm going to keep going back for my 'do! read more

Had a horrible experience with hair coloring here. Asked for a balayage with ashy brown tone and lighter ends, ended up with full bleached highlights on my natural dark brown/black hair. It looks like I have WHITE hair, which is not a good look on anyone. And apparently she thought I asked for "ashy", and my hair ended up with a grey/ashy hue overall. Then she tried to save it, but it still looks absolutely terrible. She did not do a single thing to my natural hair color besides the highlights. Again, I asked for balayage, and did not mention a single thing about highlights. But that's what she did to my hair. And I told her I asked for lighter ends, she's like "that's not gonna happen, your hair is too dark". My mind is truly blown by how she did not listen to a single thing I said, and did not tell me at all she is incapable of doing what I wanted. I have short hair so I can't chop it all off. Had to live with this nightmare for a month or two before I go somewhere else to fix it. My receipt also says "full highlights" instead of balayage. It could be a mistake on the receipt, but also could be something to prove my point. read more

I had a root touch up with Jesse and a haircut with Kimora yesterday. Jesse counseled me to not go wild with my touch up especially if I wanted highlights a couple of months from now (and I do).. her touch up matched my hair color so perfectly and she included a gloss treatment to brighten up the rest of my hair. I'd recommend her anyway. Kimora is a magician who can see what your hair needs and can make it happen with her styling skills. I think she's given me the best haircut I have gotten in years and all she did was fix my "helmet' of curls. I am definitely going back to these ladies. read more
