Just had sushi with my parents tonight. Ordered when we sat down. Half hour later the waitress says they are just playing our sushi. 20 mins after that she said that it was backed up and it will be a bit longer. With only ordering 2 rolls, it should never take this long. We asked for a manager who we talked to and he said that there was nothing they could do to make things better even if it was their fault. I have managed another restaurant for 7 years and would never treat someone this bad. Sushi came out like it had sat on a plate for a while. Don't go here. They don't care about their customers at all. If I could leave 0 stars I would. read more

I'm from out of town and I have to say this was a really good restaurant in Omaha. The sushi was great! The two entrees we got (orange chicken and spicy shrimp) was perfect proportion and it tasted delicious. I love their miso soup and hot and sour soup. The reason why I am giving them a 4/5 stars is because the waiter didn't let us know that spicy mayo would cost an additional $1.00. We would've appreciate the heads up. Terrible ass service. Sunday night... restaurant is half empty. We've been sitting down for 1.5 hours and haven't received our food. I understand there might be short staffing right now but there are tons of employees walking around. Food was good but one person in our party ordered a meal minus chicken add mushrooms. When the bill came we were charged $2 extra for veg. When we mentioned it to the waiter he said he couldn't take it off. We asked for the manager, who was actually the GM, and he continued to tell us there was nothing he could do to take off the $2. It's not about the $2 at this point! The waiter didn't tell us there would be an additional charge AND the meal had NO CHICKEN!? The GM was so rude and condescending about the situation. We even asked him if $2 was worth losing our business and he said - yes sorry you feel that way. We were so excited to have somewhere new to go out west. I will never come back here again. Slowest service, table was sticky and asked waitress for a towel to which she promptly forgot to bring. Asked for sushi to come out before entrees and an hour later here it comes with the meal. My meal had so much 5 spice it was inedible. My friend and I dined at this restaurant on Saturday night and were upset by a couple of things when we ate there. We ordered a bottle of wine, specifically Stella Rosa Moscato d'Asti. We realized after we started drinking it that it was a different brand and was not a sparkling wine, which is specifically what we wanted. When we asked the waitress about it, she was like, Oh Yeah! We don't have that wine. Well if she had told us that in the beginning, we wouldn't have paid $32 for a bottle of wine that we didn't want!! We couldn't believe she brought us something we hadn't ordered and charged us for it. And didn't make it right once we told her we didn't want it. We also bought the spicy edemame and it wasn't spicy at all and the sauce was congealed and lumpy. The waitress even mentioned it before we could even bring it up saying that she had heard that it isn't spicy like the one at the Downtown location. We did not eat it and she still charged us for it. Also, whenever i have gone to the downtown or Maple st location (which is a lot as Hiro is my favorite place to eat) I have always been asked if i want a salad. They don't charge for it but always ask me and i always get it. This waitress didn't ask then seemed very perturbed with me when i asked about a salad. She got an attitude right away. Don't know why. We were very polite and friendly the entire time. When I did get my salad, which i always get with both dressings, there was barely any dressing on it at all. I was super disappointed as this was a celebration dinner at my favorite restaurant and it was a pretty bad experience. Plus we had to drink our wine and cocktails out of plastic cups. I waited to review this place until we have been there a few times. We have now been here 4 times and I am really hooked. Great staff. Well trained. Food has been excellent every time. My only feedback would be, and it's silly, but I have noticed it in almost every trip - tell the staff who refills the water to take it easy with pouring. You got my phone wet one time and another my shirt. Step back and pour the glass with some care. Other than that - we will continue to come back again and again. Ended up here for reverse happy hour last night. I am impressed. Ordered 2 appetizers the jalapeño bacon Rangoon's & the Asian short ribs. Both were amazing. Our waiter asked us if we like spicy then he brought us out a small dish of sticky rice & the hot spicy sauce and told us to mix all three. My lips were tingling it was so good. I'm not usually one for writing reviews (as you can see, I've only done one - and it was for this same restaurant), but after my dinner there tonight I felt I needed to update my last review which was less than positive due my experiences with their manager. Well, I went in again tonight to join some friends. I was hesitant... but had a completely different and much better experience than my last few. Honestly, it reminded me of what I used to love about Hiro when I used to go. We came in at about 8:30 and sat in the bar area and were served by the bartender Jordan. Our food and drinks were all prompt (and delicious) despite the fact that the restaurant was really busy, and the service was very friendly. He also took the time to help one my friends who is not very familiar with sushi decide on something she would like, and she LOVED it. That really made her night and left a great impression for us all. I also noticed that there was a different manager working, and he seemed much friendlier than the one I mentioned in my last review (honestly, he would be friendlier by default because the other guy is such a creep). Anyway, I am happy that I decided to give Hiro another go tonight. I had a much better experience and I'm grateful for the good time. read more

Stopped in for lunch with my daughters - service was friendly and fast! We ordered the bento lunch boxes which allowed each of us to build our own lunch - it's a bit on the pricey side for lunch (happy hour pricing doesn't kick in until later) but we definitely feel like we're treating ourselves when we go there. read more

I don't know if he's a manager, sommelier or both but he was so knowledgeable about wines, wineries and regions we practically asked him to join us! (Monday is half off bottles of wine, btw)! As we were leaving, I saw someone at the bar being served a sushi roll I didn't recognize and had to stop and ask what he was having...salmon stuffed in a cucumber slice...he said it was called "Mt. First off, I have to say review is exclusive to the 180th & Q location. I have been a regular to Hiro since 2005. When the 180th location opened up, I was excited since it is literally 5 minutes from my house. However, the service at this location pales in comparison to the 132nd and maple location in every aspect. When dining, in the servers are less friendly and generally lack knowledge of the menu. When trying to get a to go order, be prepared for them to get it wrong every time. Either half the order is missing or they make the wrong thing. As for the managers at this location, they are usually just standing around and not helping remedy any issues that arise until you really escalate it. Lastly, the food quality is a mess...rolls fall apart and sashimi looks like it was cut with a dull knife. I've given this location a chance hoping it gets better but after coming here at once or twice a week for 6 months, I've given up. I'll be driving the additional distance to the original location from now on. read more

Hiro 88 has good sushi. They do a reverse happy hour on Sunday's that lasts most of the day.

Our server stopped by our table one time, and this was to take our order. Never asked how the meal was or stopped by at all again. If he didn't want to be our server, then why not pass the table off to a co-worker. Our appetizers and sushi showed up at the same time which is never ideal, but we did order them at the same time so that could be our fault. But when we were done eating and needed a box/check our server blatantly ignored us, checked on every table around ours and even had time to go talk with co workers behind the bar. I tried multiple times to flag him down without success, so my girlfriend went and got a manager to get the check and box. Never did see our server again. If I ever do decide to come back it will be with special request to not have this server. I used to love coming here for dinner or happy hour, but this experience has made me want to go elsewhere. It is good! My family and I pop over a bit as it is so close for us. We also enjoy sister restaurant, Salt 88. What stands out for me are the light, creamy and ever-so-tasty crab Rangoon. Hiro really hits it spot on with these delightful starters. We also rather enjoy the bar's concoctions. I am known to indulge in a Ginger Drop and the Make It Rain, both cocktails available at Salt 88 as well. Sushi is very decent and the Husker roll is such a classic and very approachable as it is made with beef. I usually stop in for a fried avocado roll and some eel sauce when I'm feeling for an afternoon munchie. My dad and I in particular have been hard up for some good shrimp tempura in Omaha since Mt. Fuji closed a few years back, and Hiro's shrimp tempura served with vegetables is rather heartwarming. read more

We went to the restaurant in the evening and had a wonderful dinner. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was outstanding. That was the best Lo Mein I have ever had. The atmosphere was upscale but not too much so it was comfortable. I was a bit suprised they didnt have pork or vegetable spring rolls, only avacado. Thefood is quality food and great flavors.
