Wow! I was expecting decent, maybe even above average food, but I was pleasantly surprised by the food and the service received at a mid-week lunch! I met a friend for lunch and I was glad we waited until 1pm to meet there. That place was packed! But most folks were leaving to return to work, so our wait was about fifteen minutes. The place was clean! I was half expecting a slightly worn diner experience with an older wait staff , but once seated, we were promptly greeted with a friendly young woman with menus and gave our drink orders. I really wanted sweet tea. That was probably my only complaint--as I was given an overwhelmingly sweet tea that was lemon flavored. I ended up opting for water after. I ordered the catfish and collards. It arrived piping hot! The fish was absolutely delicious and had a very fine cornmeal breading that almost reminded me of a popcorn flavor--so good! It wasn't muddy tasting at all! And the collards? Perfectly cooked and balanced flavor. I could have eaten two bowls! I ordered fried chicken to take home to my husband for an after work snack. I guess it was tasty-- because he inhaled it before I got a chance to ask for a bite! I may have to try it next time. And yes, there will definitely be a next time! read more

Service is quick and efficient the place is jammed we had to wait for a table . Smells great . Honey ordered meatloaf ... surprise... not . It's smoked meatloaf so we shall see what that's about . He ordered the green beans and mashed potatoes as his side . I ordered the sliced brisket which I thought came on a bun but only chopped brisket does she offered me a bun for a dollar odd but might be worth it . I ordered the bourbon corn and French fried potatoes, pictures to follow .they changed waitresses on us and the new one came to introduce herself and the original one came over to explain. That's good service. Well the food was amazing . The meatloaf was delicious and had chunks of vegetables in it my husband was reluctant to stop eating and let me investigate. I was in the area and looking for Mac & Cheese nearby for my daughter, and so glad we stopped by! The service was top notch. Employees were waiting in the front, refilled water, offered a box for multiple to go boxes. All the little things. Like checking in a few min after food drop off to make sure all is good. The fries had a nice crunch. The burger was juicy and the onions and accompanying tomato gave a nice contrast. The real star was the Mac & cheese and the green beans. Second time visiting and the food did not disappoint. It was a first time visit for my friend so he got a variety of dishes to try. I settled on the fried fish with the cabbage and green beans. And the cornbread muffin while he wanted to try the chicken and waffles as well as the candied yams and Mac and cheese. Initially, I didn't plan on getting dessert but decided I would try it, and we both got the peach cobbler. All the food was well seasoned and delicious. I tired several things, fried chicken, mac n cheese, green beans, corn bread, there wasn't anything I didn't like. I did not have mine at the restaurant. It was catered to our job so I can't answer any questions about the restaurant. They did a great job having the food ready for pickup and it was packed well. Very mid food. I ordered chicken, waffles, mac and cheese, greens and sweet tea mixed with lemonade. The chicken was unseasoned, the greens had no flavor other than salt, zero meat in greens. The mac and cheese was stove top, straight out the box mixed with milk, and that salty fake powder cheese heavy on the yellow dye side. Absolutely inedible. The waffle was served with a golf ball size of margarine and corn syrup similar to Log Cabin brand. The waffle was actually tasty, but that margarine and corn syrup made it a 3 instead of a 9. Your food may taste better if you add real butter and real maple syrup with your waffles. The sweet tea and lemonade was the best item I had there. This was a nice surprise! It's a clean and small place with a few tables inside. You walk in and you can approach front counter and they will seat you if you are dining in. They have a nice and friendly staff. We ordered the grilled Cajun tilapia with collard greens and and corn muffin and the grilled cheese with brisket sandwich with candied yams. Holy cow! Food was better than we anticipated - always awesome when this happens! The tilapia was very flavorful with a slight kick to it. The grilled cheese sandwich with brisket - did not ever think this would go well together but it was so fork tender and juicy. Everything here, from the service, to the food and timing of everything was perfect!! There was plenty of parking when I arrived close to 12 on a Saturday. The staff were so friendly and asked if it was dine in or carry out. I was seated right away and although I was eating alone, this type of restaurant just made you feel right at home! It reminded me of a place you stop in on a long road trip, hungry and ready for a good meal...but then wanting to stay for hours! I order the fried chicken with a side of mashed potato's. The seasoning of the chicken and the succulent tenderness truly had me doing a lil' food happy dance in my seat. It was SO GOOD! The waitress was attentive and personable and refilled my coffee right when it ran out. She made sure I was well taken care of. I had been told by a friend not to miss out on the banana pudding so it was actually the first thing I ordered! I lived in Georgia for 3 years and the banana pudding at His Place blew me away! Oh goodness!! This place is amazing!!! We got the Southern fried chicken, and placa(?) fried fish, with mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and cole slaw. The food was so flavorful and delicious. The place was super chill, very relaxed atmosphere, it was pretty busy, but not overly loud or hectic. That being said the service was okay, I feel like it could've been better, the waitress didn't check on us until we were almost done with our food, we never got offered or given extra napkins, we didn't get our drink refilled until almost the end I had to go up to the counter and ask for hot sauce from a different server. The server I asked, was annoyed with me and instead of handing it to me while I was standing there, she handed it to my partner who was sitting on the table eating. I think that this place is 100% worth it. I think that with any place, there will always be room for improvement, but overall, the food is amazing and worth the wait and experience. read more

We arrived just after they opened and it was already booming with business. An excellent sign! The service was immediate. We ordered all the things. My friend had tears in her eyes from the greens. The staff act like family with each other and you in all the best ways. Everyone is friendly and just there to help you have the best breakfast or brunch possible. And the food! Made my initial visit here on August 9, 2025 for a late lunch. First impression was that there were a lot of cars in the parking lot so that's usually a good sign. The interior is very clean and spacious, menu is very professional and plenty of choices with reasonable prices. Pulled pork, brisket, greens, cream corn, sweet tea all were great! As was our waitress and the whole staff. I live too far away to make this a frequent stop, but trust me, I'll be looking for any excuse to make a detour any time I'm back in the area. His Place Eatery has incredible southern style soul food and hospitality. We chose to eat in - the inside is simple, but reminded me of the classic small town restaurants, which was very nostalgic. It wasn't too busy on the weekday evening we visited, which meant we were served right away and the food came out quickly. From what I gathered, it is commonly very busy on weekends and even some weeknights. The food was everything I wanted and more! It had great depth of flavor and was served in generous portions. We tried the southern fried chicken and brisket grilled cheese with baked beans, bourbon creamed corn, mac and cheese, and potatoes. They were all incredible, but my favorite was definitely the creamed corn, followed by the baked beans. We also ordered the peach cobbler as we were finishing up, and they nicely packed it in a to-go container for us. Even if you're full (which you surely will be after visiting here), I highly recommend ordering one of their desserts to-go. It was the perfect sweet treat for later. Came here to join my friend for a Yelp elite event. If you don't know about Yelp Elite you should look it up! Place opened at 11 and I got there at 1130 and got the last table! Not sure if they are always this busy or if there was a slight uptick due to the Yelp event. Plenty of parking available and plenty of seating. Great attentive service. I went with the Thursday Only Chicken and Dumplings with choice of 2 sides. Hardest part was narrowing down which sides to get but ultimately I went mac and cheese and candied yams. Chicken and dumplings were pretty good but the stars of the show were the sides. The candied yams were amazing!!! My friend got the pulled pork grilled cheese with green beans. Both were phenomenal!
